Mätverktyg och användartester inom webbdesign : Hur mätningar av ögonrörelser och webbaserade värmekartor kan användas i användartester / Measuring tools and usability testing in web design : How measurements of eye movements and user click heatmaps can be used in usability testing

Busby, Freja, Rydberg, Alva January 2014 (has links)
This study has researched how user click heatmaps and eye tracking can be utilized in usability testing. We have used the tools SessionCam and Tobii. We designed a website for a small clothing store and conducted usability tests, in order to evaluate the users clicks and eye movements in relation to design choices on the website. The aim of this study was to research how these tools can be integrated in usability testing and how results from the tests can be used to improve usability. We were able to use the recordings of clicks and eye movements and make design changes based on the findings. Some of the findings were that the users look more at the top of the page than at the bottom. They also look more at icons and images rather than longer text blocks. From the tracking of user clicks we found that the users primarily clicked on links in order to navigate the page but also that they sometimes clicked on texts when they were reading.

Användarbarhetsproblem i ett lärospel för barn i årskurs 4 : En användarstudie för problemidentifiering av ett digitalt läromedel i en skolmiljö

Skönvall, Julia January 2018 (has links)
Educational Technology Group

What Women Want : Designing an education material about the female genitals for young women.

Böhm, Cornelia January 2018 (has links)
Many women have negative feelings towards their genitals, and studies show that this may be due to misconceptions about how normal vaginas look and work. This study aimed to create a prototype for an education material about the female genitals, focusing on the information needs of women between the ages of 18-30. To do this, user research was conducted in the form of two semi-structured interviews and a survey of 112 participants. The result showed that young women wanted more information about various things, such as the menstrual cycle, hormones, diseases and hygiene. The survey also revealed that several of the participants had low faith in the female health care, and that many of them had avoided going to the gynaecologist at least once when they had experienced genital problems. Most women had at least one worry about their genitals, which could be anything from pain, fear of not being able to have children or not looking according to the norm. This was incorporated in a paper prototype of a suggested education website about the female genitals. As many women experienced negative feelings towards their genitals, this is an important area to keep investigating, to further increase genital health and wellbeing. / Är jag normal?

Interface Design – a User-Centered Design Process : A qualitative study how to improve the Usability of a web-based consumer tool that measuring the quality of streamed videos

Larsson, Ingrid January 2015 (has links)
The purpose of this examination is to study how to create a user-friendly interface to a new non-released website. The research has been done in collaboration with the research institute Acreo and a project named Streamingkollen; a consumer tool that aims to improve the customer’s quality of experience (QoE) of streamed videos by measuring the video streaming quality.     In this study the focus has consequently been placed on the users of the service, in order to optimize their experience of the website and the interface.    In order to achieve a high level of usability, a user centered design process has been used. A user analysis, a heuristic evaluation and user tests on prototypes have been used as methods in the design process and the development of the interface.    The result from the user tests shows that the major reason why the user disliked, felt frustrated or couldn’t manage the service was when the design of the site was not consistent and minimal, when words, phrases and concepts on the site were not familiar and communicated in the same language as the users and when they lacked informative feedback of the operations made on the site.    The user-centered development in the study gave good results; many of the potential usability problems were identified and avoided.

Development of Test Method for Evaluation of Interactive Media : A comparison between two different test methods / Utveckling av en testmetod för interaktiv media : En jämförelse mellan två olika testmetoder

Lutonda, Egide January 2021 (has links)
This study addresses a usability testing method and the development of a new testing procedure that includes eye-tracking. By correcting errors within the system before it reaches the end-user contributes to satisfied customers, high quality, and a useful system. Testing is all-important in identifying errors in the test procedure to be sure to capture issues in the system being tested. The aim of the thesis is to analyze and examine the testing methods used in the company and present how the development of a new testing method should be suitable for the company. The traditional testing method is compared with a new testing method that includes eye-tracking. The empirical material was generated by usability testing. Other methods such as background questionnaire, observation, interview, review thinking-aloud, and pilot test were also used. In the conclusion of the study, it was found that the traditional testing method met the criteria of how a usability test should be conducted. Another conclusion was that the new testing method helps to clearly see and identify usability problems that may be present in a system.

Development Of Enterprise Software Applications : Implementation challenges & opportunities

Sawah, Wissam, König, Nicklas January 2021 (has links)
Companies are looking for ways to improve their business practices to work more efficiently. They are also looking for technology that can improve their workflows and customer service systems.  Here comes the need of enterprise software applications, theses softwares allows companies to cut costs and standardize the way they work, ensuring that everyone is working towards the same goal. The objective of this study is an assignment from Ericsson Business Support Solutions with the purpose of studying the effect of transitioning from the currently used process (CSV files) to an interactive web UI, when it comes to the process of handling offering of software capabilities. In this study, we aim to study the challenges and opportunities of developing an enterprise application software(EAS) and its impact on the productivity of end users. This research will also study the challenges and benefits of developing an enterprise software application (Digital marketplace) that will be used in a large (+500 employees) organization. In addition, the study will research security aspects that should be considered when developing enterprise softwares. Two sorts of studies have been conducted to answer the research questions. In order to understand and gain knowledge about the process of enterprise software development and to be able to point out which challenges and benefits there are and to get closer view of which security aspects should be in consideration when developing a software on this scale, a literature study was conducted. In order to observe and investigate whether web interfaces are a better solution / method than CSV files, and thus see the possibility of whether web interfaces can generally replace CSV files when it comes to CRUD, search and filtering information an empirical study was carried out through the development of a user interface and a usability test survey was conducted. The overall results of the study consistently show that UI is a more resourceful alternate to the  CSV files if the challenges posed by the enterprise software are sufficiently engaged and taken care of. A solid insight and expertise into information technology, pragmatic solutions to the security challenges, and careful consideration of the participants' complaints will be helpful in creating functional enterprise software.

Usability testing of an online questionnaire application for children

Hosein, Mesam, Nguyen, Duy January 2023 (has links)
This paper presents the reasoning behind and the results from usability testing of the user- and administrative side of FIPIC (Flexible Interactive Platform for Interviews with Children), a digital questionnaire tool for children. The user side was tested with 24 elementary school children between grades 1-6. They first chose which avatar and voice they preferred and then answered six questions using FIPIC while being timed on each question. The administrative side was tested with five researchers from different universities in Sweden using a scripted list of user tasks and the think-aloud method. The researchers would then answer some follow up questions after their test session. The results showed that the user side did not have any major issues that significantly affected the usability of FIPIC. The biggest issues were the non-clickable emoji’s under the slider function and having to scroll up and down. The solution is to make the emoji’s clickable and replace the drop down with a text field to avoid the scrolling. The results of the administrative side showed that most of the usability issues were present in the newer functionalities such as question groups and group connections. Functionalities that are not present in other common questionnaire tools. The suggested improvement is to make the design more intuitive. For example, the create question group button should be placed at the top of the questions page instead of having to first click the create question button. This makes hierarchical sense because a group is needed in order to create a question.
