Reverbotone - Visualize Music With Design.

Bledsoe, William Baxter 13 August 2010 (has links) (PDF)
This thesis was written as a supporting paper for a graphic design exhibit for a Master of Fine Arts Degree. The focus of my work is to visualize an interpretation of a collection of songs that make up an album in which the design communicates the content of the body of music. This thesis showcases a record that actually exists but has never been released. This affords me the opportunity to create a design that defines the content of the record work in a visual manner. This thesis paper covers the methods and motivations by which I arrived to the final design as well as an analysis of the outcome of the process in regards to the thesis exhibit.

Hur kan demens illustreras bättre inom film? : En studie om att visualisera det icke-visuella

Andersson, Oliver, Johansen, Malin January 2021 (has links)
In this study we explore how dementia can be illustrated within film, in a more complete way in comparison to the current media landscape. Visual storytelling has a big influence on how we perceive and understand new information and it is our goal to encourage filmmakers to be more attentive with how their films can inform people. The resulting illustration created in conjunction with the study is a black and white stop motion animated short film.

Visualization of Dynamic Memory in C++ Applications / Visualisering av Dynamiskt Minne i C++ Applikationer

Salén, Filip January 2019 (has links)
Optimized memory management is important for a demanding application to achieve high-performance results. But un-optimized or unwanted memory behaviors can usually be difficult to detect without an overview of how memory is structured during run-time. This thesis explores real-time visualization of dynamic memory allocation for applications using the memory pool allocation technique. In the thesis, technical and graphical challenges are described together with their solutions and the design choices that were made. The final result is a program that can visualize dynamic memory management in real time, with the focus on displaying a detailed and comprehensive memory overview that preserves the level of detail over time.

Pettersson, Daniel January 2008 (has links)
In an ever more competitive environment Sandvik Materials Technology,SMT, runs a large-scale program to improve their processes for product development. The purpose with the program is to increase the company’s profitability by increasingthe number of new products in their product portfolio. The strategies SMT is usingfor reaching their goals are to change the way they work with product development byreducing lead time and learning how to prioritize products with the highestprofitability. In the R & D Department the work of improvement pursue by adaptingLean R & D to their way of working. Lean R & D encourages working withcontinuous improvements and eliminating waste. The main purpose for this Master’s Thesis is to develop didactic support to make iteasier to implement Lean in SMT R & D department. With use of interviews, observations and taking part in education at SMT and at Sandholm Associates has thisMaster’s Thesis resulted in modifying of the internal education material at Sandvik anddevelopment of a concept of Stickers for the computer screen. The main product ofthis Master’s Thesis project is a Lean game adapted for Sandvik SMT R & Ddepartment. This report contains suggestion for Sandvik how to improve the communication ofknowledge between their departments with purpose to reduce external consultationsand to achieve a more pleasant working environment.

FlockViz: A Visualization Technique to Facilitate Multi-dimensional Analytics of Spatio-temporal Cluster Data

Hossain, Mohammad Zahid 26 May 2014 (has links)
Visual analytics of large amounts of spatio-temporal data is challenging due to the overlap and clutter from movements of multiple objects. A common approach for analyzing such data is to consider how groups of items cluster and move together in space and time. However, most methods for showing Spatio-temporal Cluster (STC) properties, concentrate on a few dimensions of the cluster (e.g. the cluster movement direction or cluster density) and many other properties are not represented. Furthermore, while representing multiple attributes of clusters in a single view existing methods fail to preserve the original shape of the cluster or distort the actual spatial covering of the dataset. In this thesis, I propose a simple yet effective visualization, FlockViz, for showing multiple STC data dimensions in a single view by preserving the original cluster shape. To evaluate this method I develop a framework for categorizing the wide range of tasks involved in analyzing STCs. I conclude this work through a controlled user study comparing the performance of FlockViz with alternative visualization techniques that aid with cluster-based analytic tasks. Finally the exploration capability of FlockViz is demonstrated in some real life data sets such as fish movement, caribou movement, eagle migration, and hurricane movement. The results of the user studies and use cases confirm the advantage and novelty of the novel FlockViz design for visual analytic tasks.

New opportunities provided by the Swedish electricity meter reform

Wallin, Fredrik January 2010 (has links)
The reduction of the impact of energy consumption is a priority issue and a major challenge that concerns every country in the world. This is a complex task that needs to be tackled from several angles in the search for areas where optimizations and savings can be made. In Sweden an electricity meter reading reform was fully implemented by 1st July 2009, including 5.2 million customers, and this created new set of circumstances in the Swedish electricity market. The main purpose of this thesis work has been to investigate the possibilities of increasing the use of remote meter readings. Two research questions have been: “How can the electricity market benefit from remote collected meter readings?” and “Where do barriers appear when utilizing meter readings?”. The work started in 2000/2001 to study Internet based applications that visualize electricity consumption patterns. Over these years the daily internet users have increased from approximately 40 % to 73 % and new markets for web-based applications have evolved. These solutions can be important in the forthcoming years as energy portals that hold new energy services. Experiences from new installations indicate that at least interested customers do submit information concerning building and household properties through internet. Still, it is challenging to enable the majority of customers to take part in these new solutions. It may therefore be important to remind customers on a regular basis in order maintain the frequency using the application and to make it habitual. Further the introduction of demand-based pricing allows electricity distribution utilities to achieve a stronger correlation between peak loads in the distribution network area and their revenues.
