This thesis is focused on the verification of an intervation programme which was applied by mentally handicap children within the time of five months. In theoretical part of this thesis I paid attention to the problems which disabled children have. I sketched the basis of the personality integration, on which condition it gives benefits. I mentioned educational systems focused on the physical education and the importace of physical activity connected with it. The purpose of the applied programm was to discover whether there would be an improvement at motoric and social ratios. To prove the positive effect of doing these exercises, I tested the group again after a year. The results are statistically relevant and the course had a positive effect on individuals.\\

In this work, we consider possible uses of Yoga in the practice of Theater. Three trials previously conducted by the author with different groups of actors/students were analyzed. In these trials, Yoga techniques were applied to theatrical performances in different ways. Moreover, this study also looks at the current society, reflecting about their subjects and their way of life, in an attempt to understand the reality of the groups whom we have been working with. Through these experiments, we sought to make these actors / students get away from their daily routines, establishing breaks that could promote a fluid process of preparation for the theatrical practices. The work is divided into two main parts: the first comprises a brief explanation of the trajectory of the author, as well as her motivations for conducting this research, the context of today's society, a brief historical/philosophical survey of Yoga, and an overview of some practices already made by important people in the theater scene. The second part comprises the analysis of previously conducted experiments and a reflection over these experiences.

Yoga and Saxophone Performance: The Integration of Two DisciplinesJanuary 2012 (has links)
abstract: The integration of yoga into the music curriculum has the potential of offering many immediate and life-long benefits to musicians. Yoga can help address issues such as performance anxiety and musculoskeletal problems, and enhance focus and awareness during musical practice and performance. Although the philosophy of yoga has many similarities to the process of learning a musical instrument, the benefits of yoga for musicians is a topic that has gained attention only recently. This document explores several ways in which the practice and philosophy of yoga can be fused with saxophone pedagogy as one way to prepare students for a healthy and successful musical career. A six-week study at Arizona State University was conducted to observe the effects of regular yoga practice on collegiate saxophone students. Nine participants attended a sixty-minute "yoga for musicians" class twice a week. Measures included pre- and post- study questionnaires as well as personal journals kept throughout the duration of the study. These self-reported results showed that yoga had positive effects on saxophone playing. It significantly increased physical comfort and positive thinking, and improved awareness of habitual patterns and breath control. Student participants responded positively to the idea of integrating such a course into the music curriculum. The integration of yoga and saxophone by qualified professionals could also be a natural part of studio class and individual instruction. Carrie Koffman, professor of saxophone at The Hartt School, University of Hartford, has established one strong model for the combination of these disciplines. Her methods and philosophy, together with the basics of Western-style hatha yoga, clinical reports on performance injuries, and qualitative data from the ASU study are explored. These inquiries form the foundation of a new model for integrating yoga practice regularly into the saxophone studio. / Dissertation/Thesis / D.M.A. Music 2012

Abstract: Background: Yoga is a psycho-physical practice systematized by Patanjali, a Hindu sage, who lived in the second century BCE. In 1983, yoga was brought to America by Swami Vivekananda. In Brazil, around 1940, Caio Miranda began teaching the practice in Rio de Janeiro. Thus yoga has been practiced for the last sixty years in the biggest urban centers of the country and there are very few academic studies on the subject in the health field, which is the main reason to justify our interest in the study. Besides, in 2002, the World Health Organization included yoga in the group of the mind-body practices and stimulated its members to study and adopt these practices in the national health systems. Objective: This article explores the São Paulo yoga leaders' perceptions regarding the potential insertion of yoga as a public policy into the Brazilian National Health System, and their process of professionalization. Methods: Twenty one main traditions were identified, of which 18 leaders were interviewed, and the other three didn't participate for different reasons. Indepth interviews were carried out in January/February 2006; September/October 2008 and April 2009, through the application of a questionnaire divided into three sections: (a) personal identification; (b) yoga practice; and (c) yoga and health. The interviews lasted approximately 1.5 hr and took place in various locations in São Paulo city, according to appointments arranged by the interviewees and after they had signed a voluntary consent form. All the interviews were tape-recorded, transcribed, and analyzed according to the qualitative research tradition. Most yoga leaders have college education and acquired their yoga training in Brazil and in foreign countries, like USA and India, and through trips and retreats. Concerning their professionalization, some of the interviewees came in contact with yoga at a young age either through books, family influences, mystical inclinations, delicate states of health or simply curiosity. Others discovered yoga as adults and decided to become yoga teachers. They work in private yoga schools or for organizations which promote different yoga traditions, teaching, giving lectures, courses for teachers, intensive and vacation courses, and they also organize retreats, trips and seminars; some of them write articles and translate books on different themes pertaining to the yoga field. Results: All the interviewees approve the inclusion of yoga in the Brazilian National Health System and suggested how the practice could be applied, the main public, the yoga techniques, the duration of the classes, etc. Areas in which yoga was perceived as being able to make important contributions included: vegetarianism; postural correction and integration of movements; peace culture; the cultivation of virtuous values; abstention from addictive substances; spiritual consciousness; integration of the self; cultivation of awareness; brain oxygenization; cultivation of discipline and improved quality of life. Conclusion: Yoga is seen as a group of useful physical, social, and philosophical practices for the health field. However, challenges to its integration into the BNHS include its maintenance as an alternative culture practice and its distance from the epistemological bases of present complementary and integrative medicine.

Abstract: This investigation has as object the direction/conducting of a vocal work for the interpreter by Energetic Technique (ET) application based on Logopedics origins. / Abstract: Yoga is one of the six philosophical schools of India and in this text is understood as a path, a life's philosophy supported by ethics, philosophical and technical principles. At recent decades, an increase in the number of practitioners have been observed and also the development of many Yoga teachers' courses. The recent condition of this new profession makes these teachers a group that needs to be studied. In this circumstance, the goal of this research was to investigate these professional's trajectory, as well as the life's implications of this professional path. To achieve this goal, a qualitative research was conducted in which semi-structured interviews were used to investigate the trajectory of twelve yoga's teachers of Campinas city. The interviews were transcribed and the data's analysis was done with the support of an analysis' trajectory model constructed through the systematic literature review. These speeches demonstrated that this professional choice leads to disruptions on several life's aspects. They also suggest that the basis of this career choice is beyond the financial return or professional stability, and stand as a way to satisfy ontological needs. "DE LYSSNAR PÅ MIG" : En litteraturstudie om patienters upplevelser av komplementära behandlingsmetoder vid långvarig smärta / "THEY LISTEN TO ME" : A literature study on patients' experiences of complementary treatment in chronic painEngman, Ida, Danforth, Annamaria January 2018 (has links)
