Reading literacy is the basis for human development as individuals, due to its key role in the independent acquisition of knowledge (continuous learning) and as citizens, since it enables their participation in the modern society of knowledge and information. Considered to be a precondition for the nation development, it was evaluated in the PISA 2000 assessment, organized by OECD, in an international effort that involved 32 countries, among them Brazil and Germany, both focus of this work. Germany’s low ranking in this exam roused a huge debate on this theme, resulting in the publication of studies of renowned experts. The reaction was not the same in Brazil, nevertheless several studies on teaching language, reading and literature that highlight the importance of scholar reading are found among Brazilian researchers. These studies are previous to the Pisa 2000 assessment. Therefore, the aim of this work is to discuss some of the Brazilian and German authors’ ideas concerning this subject, in a historical and contemporaneous perspective as well as to translate papers of significance that were published in the German pedagogical journal Praxis Deutsch. The bibliographic review consists of analyses of Brazilian texts that consider literature as an instrument to motivate reading from several authors (Nelly Coelho, Lígia Chiappini, Maria da Glória Bordini, Vera Teixeira Aguiar, Magda B. Soares and Rildo Cosson). Papers from Bettina Hurrelmann, Kasper Spinner and Gerald Haas published in Praxis Deutsch were also studied. For a better understanding of the Pisa 2000 results, which were briefly discussed, some aspects of the exam were contemplated. As a result we were able to outline factors that affect literacy, as for instance family, school and social level, and to indicate the importance of literature education for self development and for the literacy motivation, promoting, this way, the reading socialization.

Text är bara bläck på ett papper tills en läsare ger det liv : En kvalitativ studie om hur traumatiserade barn kan stöttas av läsning i förskolan / Text is just ink on a page until a reader comes along and gives it life : A qualitative study about how traumatized children can find support in reading in preschool

Hellkvist, Louise, Hermansson, Lisa January 2018 (has links)

Vztah mezi literárním dílem a jeho filmovou adaptací v představách žáků ZŠ / Relation between a Book and Its Movie Adaptation in Images of Students of Elementary School

DOBROVOLNÁ, Kristýna January 2017 (has links)
The current period caused the rapid development of technologies, which allows us to use the films (film adaptations of literary books), drama or music (soundtrack) for teaching easily. In my thesis I will deal with film adaptations of literary works and the specifics of film adaptations which are created for child viewer. I also focus on their didactic usage. I will determine with the help of questionnaries whether children consider themselves as readers, viewers or both in the practical part of my work, whether pupils are aware of the difference between the book and its adaptation and if there is a possibility to find some connection between their opinions and the relation to reading and spectatorship.

Civility, Anonymity and the Breakdown of a New Public Sphere

Santana, Arthur, Santana, Arthur January 2012 (has links)
Reader comment forums of online newspapers, a relatively new feature of online journalism, have been called spaces of public deliberation. At their inception among large newspapers just five years ago, the forums were heralded as a new way for the public to advance public dialogue by sharing opinions in an unconstrained way, promoting the democratic principles of the newspaper institution itself. Rampant incivility, however, has since become one the forums' chief defining characteristics. By content analyzing comments from online newspapers that allow anonymity, this research confirms anecdotal evidence from journalists that Latinos are regularly debased in the forums by commenters following news on immigration. This study also compares the civility of anonymous comments following news on the Tea Party movement, a non-racialized but also controversial topic. Finally, civility is measured in the comments following news on immigration from online newspapers that have disallowed anonymity. In all, more than 22,000 comments from nearly 200 news stories in more than a dozen online newspapers were collected between 2010 and 2012, and a sample of 1,350 was coded. The analysis shows that online newspaper discussion boards that allow anonymity and that follow news about immigration predominantly contain comments by those who support tough immigration laws and who express themselves with emotionally laden, uncivil comments directed at Latinos. Similar discussion boards that disallow anonymity predominantly contain comments by those who support tough immigration laws and who express themselves with emotionally laden yet civil comments directed at Latinos. Overall, this research demonstrates that a racialized topic is apt to draw more uncivil anonymous comments than a non-racialized one and that removing anonymity elevates the level of dialogue. Building on the theories of the public sphere, reduced cues in anonymity and critical race theory, this paper demonstrates that in their new role in creating a new public square of open discussion, newspapers are sometimes creating forums for hate speech while also publishing content that is perpetuating negative portrayals of Latinos. Findings reveal that a new public sphere created by online newspapers, meant to promote democracy, is actually having the opposite effect for some minority groups.

Reading and writing have been the subject of much discussion among educators who attribute the student failure at school to the fact that he was not able to read. When it comes to writing, stories often tell no tales, expositions present no ideas, argumentative texts put forward no points of view. Reading and writing are generally considered inseparable: you read to write; you write to read. Reading, therefore, is the process through which the reader performs the active work of interpreting a text, through its goals, using prior knowledge. Continued reading enables the reader to write significantly more effectively, because the potential to produce good texts originates in the practice of reading, the understanding of...

Sousa, Ana Cláudia de [UNESP] 21 December 2006 (has links) (PDF)

This work presents a view about an outline of reader teachers from a public school of Presidente Prudente, São Paulo State; these teachers work with students from first grade. This study discusses some aspects such as frequency, reading habits, affective entailment with literature, kinds and objectives of their own reading. To do so, the study ransoms the teachers reading memories during three stages of their lives: Young childhood, school age and adolescence, and finally as adults. Many researchers have presented a discussion about how important the teacher is for the reader development, in some of these studies the difficulties of this process is attributed to a failure in the teachers' development as a reader. This case study intends to present an outline of some teachers and their reading process, and then, analyze the way a reader and a not reader teacher work with reading. We also intend to verify quantitative and qualitative elements that differ their work. Our aim was to verify if a reader teacher can develop a better work that a teacher that does not read very often, according to a theoretical support. The analysis of the data allowed to end that to have a profile reader for fruition, manifested by affectionate bonds with the reading and the literature, it is relevant aspect, but it doesn't configure condition for a teacher to develop practices of teaching of the reading most significant...(Complete abstract, click electronic address below).

Os teclados: a construção do sujeito-leitor na partitura do texto / Os teclados: the construction of the subject-reader on the score of the text

Eliane Limonti da Fonseca 16 September 2009 (has links)
This research is about the subjects ethical construction in Teolinda Gersãos Os Teclados. The subjects referred to in this study are Julia, the main character, and the reader. The operational tool used in this work was the analysis of the musical elements which have become part of the literary tissue of the narrative, like melody and harmony, delaying techniques and musical chords. So, the basis was the dialogue between Literature and Music and such dialogue was the means for the esthetical effects caused on the reader while reading Os Teclados to become clear to this researcher. But another presupposition has been laid at the beginning of this study, which is that there is a kind of ideal reader created in the authors mind and that such ideal reader operates as a kind of pattern, which leads her to create some special reading strategies to seduce the normal reader, that is, to grasp and keep his attention during the act of reading. To develop this issue, the theme of the industrial culture has been treated. The starting point for the development of theme in Teolindas novel was Julias confrontation with Helena Estevãos ideas. This research also analyses some metaphors of the text, the myths quoted along the narrative and also the already mentioned musical elements. The aim is to understand the way the character, in contact with such elements, builds herself up as an ethical subject and operates as a kind of mirror in which the reader can project himself, building himself up by following Julias pattern.

Presenting Product Information : Helping Customers’ Decision Making, Using a Personal Mobile RFID Reader

Grubb, Daniel, Baslakovski, Toni January 2006 (has links)
Problem drafting: Is it possible to give the customer larger foundation for decision making of contemplated product by presenting more extensive and personal filtered information regarding the product, with the help of a personal RFID-reader? Methodology: In this bachelor thesis, we used constructive research to build the prototype in which we used a conceptual-analytic approach to gather the information to build it. Empirical studies were used for evaluation. Results: Our conclusion shows that even though it is possible to increase the basis on which the customers make decisions, through a RFID system, there are several issues that need to be addressed and taken into consideration before making it possible to implement such a system.

Aprendizagem mediada de literatura pelos direitos do leitor / Literature´s mediated learning throug the reader´s rights

Marcello Bulgarelli 28 April 2010 (has links)
The present dissertation seeks to elaborate and implement an alternative methodology so that the teaching of literature can, at least, educate autonomous critical literary readers, who are able to make their choices of reading while being aware that the learned of the literary text is not an absolute whole, but that it is open to being constantly resignified. For this purpose, it has retaken and sought to transpose the theories of Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky, which have been extended with the study of Reuven Feuersteins theory of mediated learning experience and the ideas of some French authors who have emphasized the need to involve more the reader in the text (rights of the reader) to the classroom pedagogic practice. Thus, two experimentations focused on high school students in state public education were structured for their participation to be the most effective possible, starting from the reading action to thinking about the read, through either individual moments, or collective ones, so that in the end, the student can manipulate tools that make him/her a reader subject fully involved in the meaning making of the text, and, perhaps, make him/her a reading habitué. Through the analysis of these experimentations, we have observed the need to bring the literary text to the center of the class, so that we can methodologically structure a well-planned varied sequence of activities, with intentionality-reciprocity, transcendence and meaning, that will lead to the construction of relevant concepts to facilitate the construction of the interpretive walk of the reader\", from the collection of clues in the text to giving opinions about his/her own process, about what he/she has learned from the text.
