Dudová, Monika January 2017 (has links)
Submitted thesis occupies with the process of formation of multidisciplinary team, which becomes an instrument of care to services dealing with mental illness treatment in the case of transformation of psychiatric care from institutional to sphere of community services. In psychiatrical community-based services as we know them today, multidisciplinatory cooperation should provide more complex and effective help for people with mental illness. The theoretical part of the thesis consists of informative overview, stating the basic terms from fields of mental disorders and community psychiatry and discription of contemporaneous state care about mentally ill and it also brings new information about prepared reforms in area of providing psychiatric services. The empiric part maps the process of putting the multidisciplinary team together in newly established Centre of mental health, which is the new low-threshold pillar of transformation of psychiatric services. In addition, it shows views of all the professionals from the team on the problematics of creating a team, mutual cooperation, bringing a peer worker in and it also points on the bariers keeping multidisciplinary cooperation from optimal functioning.

It was objectified to evaluate the quality of the sun meat commercialized in the city of João Pessoa, focusing four axles, being the first one to evaluate the hygienical-sanitary aspects of the establishments that commercialize sun meat; as the axle to determine the parameters physical and chemical; third to trace the profile of the consumer of sun meat and the room axle it aimed at to establish quality attributes. The studies on the hygienical-sanitary aspects of the establishments had been lead in two phases, collect and quantification of the data. The characterization physical and chemical was carried through in 51 samples, gotten randomly in retail establishments; becoming fullfilled the determination of moisture, pH, activity of water, proteins, fats, chlorides, ashes; water holding capacity and determination of color. To trace the profile of the consumer of sun meat, they had been considered: the characterization of the sample; consumption habits; elements used for purchase decision; degree of satisfaction of the consumers and crossing of data, by means of not probabilist sampling gotten next to 326 consuming potentials of sun meat, using itself a structuralized questionnaire contend 16 questions. To establish sensorial attributes three sessions of Focus Groups had been carried through. In the hygienical-sanitary evaluation it was verified that the supermarkets are the establishments with optimum profile and the free fairs and public markets are the establishments with the worse hygienical-sanitary pointers. Microbiologically the estafilococos coagulase positive had not been detected in the evaluated samples, however the countings of Staphylococcus spp had varied of 6,4 x 102 the 2,0 x 106 UFC.g-1, the countings of aerobic bacteria mesophilic ranged had varied of 1,8 7,5 x 105 and x 107 UFC.g-1, the total coliformes had been between 4,6 x102 and 1.1 x 109 NMP. g-1 of sample and molds and yeasts ranged from, had varied of 2,5 x 102 and 1,0 106 x UFC.g-1. The contamination for total and termotolerantes coliformes reflected the standard hygienical-bathroom of the small markets, supermarkets, butchery and supermarkets ; not being observed for the free fairs and public markets, where the microbiological evaluation did not reflect the classification. The correlation between the standard was observed hygienical-bathroom and the counting of mesófilos for butchery, supermarkets, free fairs and hipermercados, however, as many as the small markets, as the public markets had not followed this relation. The quality parameters physical and chemical had ample variation, being observed the following averages: moisture (71,17±2,96g/100g); pH (5,93±0,26); activity and water (0,95±0,03); protein (22,86±1,50 g /100g); fat content (0,67±0,41 g /100g); water holding capacity (77,59± 5.59%), chloride (2,03±0,98 g/ 100g); ashes (4,83±2,07 g/ 100g); internal and external average values of luminosity (19,79±2,01 and 18,85±2,10); values of intensity of the red color, internal and external (4,47±2,13 and 10,38±2,61) and external values of yellow intensity, interns and (21,57±0,93 and 21,91±1,08). In the analysis for grouping it was observed existence of four classrooms of establishments determined for the origin of the sun meat. It was demonstrated the satisfaction of the consumer with regard to the acquired sun meat. The place of the purchase of the sun meat is chosen by the hygiene of place (42%) and the preferred form of consumption is the frying (80.7% of the interviewed ones); 87.5% had declared to consume sun meat one or more time per week and the lunch is the consumption occasion more frequently; the supermarket is the preferred local to purchase the sun meat for 51,5% of theinterviewed ones. The sun meat is element of the diet for cultural habits, the easiness of reparation and also for the characteristic flavor.

Social Media in Relationship Marketing: The Professional Sport Context

Abeza, Gashaw January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the use of social media (SM) as a relationship marketing tool (RM) in the context of professional sport in North America. The specific objectives are (i) to explore the use of social media in meeting relationship marketing goals within the context of professional sport, (ii) to explore how professional sport teams’ managers see the opportunities of social media in meeting relationship marketing goals, (iii) to explore how professional sport teams’ managers see the challenges of social media in meeting relationship marketing goals, and (iv) to examine the benefits of social media, if any, in enhancing long-term relationships with their favourite sport team from the perspective of fans of professional sport teams. Guided by a pragmatist philosophical worldview, the project adopted a multi-domain qualitative research approach. The multi-domain approach reflects the three data sources (i.e., the medium-SM platform, organization-professional teams, and consumers-sport fans). Putting an individual emphasis on each of these three data sources, three different but interrelated studies are conducted to accomplish the overall purpose of the dissertation using an article-based format. The first study, guided by the relationship marketing theoretical framework, adopted a netnographic method to investigate professional sport teams’ use of Twitter as an RM tool. Specifically, the study focused on the three core components of RM: communication, interaction, and value. The netnography is based on data gathered from the official Twitter account of 20 professional sport teams from the four major leagues from August 1, 2015 to February 29, 2016. Results outline seven emergent communication types, six interaction practices, and ten values (co)created by the teams or/and fans. Theoretical and practical implications, as well as impetus for future research are identified. The second study aimed at obtaining a first-hand and an in-depth understanding of the role, opportunities, and challenges of SM in meeting RM goals from the perspective of senior managers of professional sport teams. For this purpose, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 26 managers from the four major leagues professional sport teams in North America. Results outline the platforms adopted, six intended objectives, seven opportunities and seven challenges of SM as an RM medium. A list of theoretical and practical implications, and impetus for future research is provided. The purpose of the third study was to first gain an empirically supported understanding of the role and benefits of SM as an RM tool from the perspective of professional sport fans and, following that, to identify, specify, verify, and refine the emergent benefits. The study employed an adaptation of the focus group method, dubbed the ‘sequential funnel-based focus group’, which is a multiphase, step-wise version of the established method. The sequential funnel-based focus group is conceptualized, developed, described, and used in this work as a research method. The adaptation allowed the identification of benefits of SM as a medium that enhances long-term relationships through a series of funnel-based focus group discussions in three sequential phases. A total of 10 focus groups with 81 participants took part in the study. The work identified seven major benefits (and 15 sub-categories of benefits) that fans see as opportunities presented by SM as a medium to enhance long-term relationship with their team. Theoretical contributions, practical recommendations, and directions for future research are provided. The findings from the three studies are integrated to construct a multi-dimensionally informed and comprehensive understanding of the use of SM in RM in professional sport. In general, data gathered from the perspective of the three domains (i.e., medium/SM platform, organizational/ professional teams, and consumers/sport fans) informed that SM is providing new directions to RM, making it an effective and affordable channel in realizing RM goals in professional sport context. The thesis also produced empirical evidence of the opportunities that SM presents and the challenges that it poses in terms of meeting RM goals in the context of professional sport. Informed by the studies data, the dissertation also extended Grönroos’s (2004) RM process model through the lens of SM in professional sport context. Contributions to scholarship, practical recommendations, directions for future research, and the limitations of the dissertation are provided.

Movement of children with heart diseases between the intensive care and a ward, from a nurse perspective

Knape, Camilla, Remmert, Christina January 2016 (has links)
It takes several acute and planned transfers between children's intensive care and children's cardiology ward of the week, of children with heartdiseses. At the acute movements it can be difficult for the nurse to take time for the parents. When the nurses talk about how they communicate and take care of the parents, at the movements of the children, it may increase nurses' awareness regarding how parents are treated. The purpose of the study was to describe how nurses feel that parental perspective into account the movement of children with heart disease between the child intensive care and ward. The study was conducted with six nurses in two focus group interviews, and analyzed as a content analysis. The categories that emerged from the study were: information, availability and security. Nurses experienced parental perspective into account, through information on the movement. Accessibility to the nurses affected by the lack of time and that the movement was take at short notice. Time was an area that was identified as a problem, increased accessibility for the nurse to be there for the parents, would give them greater security. To lodge security, it was important for parents to get information about where they would be moved. Further research may lead to attention of the parental perspective and that nurses can influence and improve the way information is given to the parents and a better reporting of what information is given and what they need for further information.

An investigation of behaviors influencing life satisfaction in young adult families

Snyder, Carolyn A. January 1900 (has links)
Master of Public Health / Department of Human Nutrition / Tandalayo Kidd / Parenthood is a major life event that requires considerable lifestyle changes. As young adults become married they start a change in lifestyle that influences their health and their future children. Some couples understand that they need to change their behavior, but do not know how to do so healthfully. The poor lifestyle behaviors that produce excessive weight gain place an increased risk for premature death, heart disease, diabetes, other health problems as well as threatens their quality of life. These transitional experiences present a unique challenge that warrants exploration in the context of the young adult life stage and perceptions about health and quality of life. Currently, there is limited research of the concerns or perceptions young adults have regarding quality of life and diet related health behaviors. The purpose of this study is to identify behaviors that impact life satisfaction and health of young adult families. Two-90 minute focus groups were conducted, with pre-recruited community members 18-24 years of age. All participants were recruited from community service organizations, day care facilities and university educational classes. Participants were parents and/or married. Nutrition and Exercise majors were excluded. Both focus groups were asked seven key questions along with probing questions. All focus groups were audio taped and then transcribed verbatim. The transcriptions were coded manually by assigning a label in the margins of the transcripts for each quality of life issue that appeared. Coding allowed the data to be assembled into categories that can be used to develop quality of life and health interventions for young adults. Several issues impacting satisfaction with life and barriers to a healthy lifestyle were identified. However, money, time, family, stress, and children were primary concerns. This study identified the need to completed additional assessments to quantify the needs of young adult parents and families, so community-based partnerships can effectively develop programming and interventions.

"Vi ska prata om genus" : En studie av lärares konstruktioner av genus och musikundervisning / "We are going to talk about gender" : A study of teachers' constructions of gender and music education

Ekström, Kajsa January 2016 (has links)
This study explores how music teachers converse about the school´s gender mission in relation to music education. The theoretical frame of the study is gender theories and a social constructionism. The data for the study has been collected through two focus group interviews where female and male music teachers from different educational levels and specializations discuss gender and music education. The data generated from the focus group interviews has been processed and analysed with discourse analytical tools with a focus on the teachers’ views on gender and music education. The result show several smaller discourses that show the views the teachers have on themselves, their mission and their students. The result shows that the teachers strive for gender awareness and a focus on individuals, but that they also feel held back by fixed biological elements and that they feel resigned towards historical structures that remain strong, a fear of power relations and a perception of gender as a difficult and complicated subject. In conclusion gender is understood as something abstract and contradictory. In practical arrangements the teachers struggle with perceptions and ideas about gender that are difficult to concretize. In the discussion two contradicting discourses are highlighted as the aspirational and the biologically fixed, and the struggle between the discourses.

”Man vill ju få lite wow-effekt” : En fokusgruppsstudie om identitet på Instagram / One wants to get a wow - effect : A focus group study of identity on Instagram

Hakami, Natasha, Lindell, Cecilia January 2016 (has links)
This thesis examines Instagram users and how they create an identity, and their interaction with other users. The aim of this study is to understand what we do with Instagram and what Instagram does with us in our everyday lives, and what the effects of the medium entails. This thesis is based on theories of identity, hyper- reality and effects of the development of social media. The method used in this study is qualitative focus group interviews with five women and five men, where the answers are transcribed and analyzed to gain an understanding of the effects and the impact of Instagram in their lives. We chose to interview both men and women, and therefore we have also had the gender issue in mind, but it has not been the main focus of this study. The results we reached in this study is that Instagram is mainly used to keep updated and that the medium provides both positive and negative effects. We also discovered that individuals are not one hundred percent themselves on Instagram. The conclusion we can draw is that people play different roles on Instagram of different purposes, and that we live in a hyper- reality that brings both good and bad. We can also conclude that even though people today have the power to present themselves in the way they want to, we see tendencies that gender representation is present in a stereotypical way.

To promote health in children with experience of cancer treatment

Einberg, Eva-Lena January 2016 (has links)
The overall aim of this thesis was to develop knowledge about how to promote health in children treated for cancer and how health promotion interventions based on such knowledge can be evaluated. In this thesis, a descriptive and explorative design has been used, comprising both qualitative (Papers I-III) and quantitative (Papers I and IV) methods. A nationwide cohort of 144 childhood cancer survivors (24-42 years) answered a questionnaire about the support they had received from health care services (Paper I). Fifteen children (8-12years), with experience of cancer treatment, participated in five focus groups with two sessions per group (Paper II and III). The focus group methodology was combined with participatory and art-based techniques, such as draw and tell and photography. The children discussed what promotes health and what friendship is about. A methodological design was used to psychometrically test the Swedish version of the Minneapolis-Manchester Quality of Life instrument (MMQL) (Paper IV). The study included 950 pupils in grade 6 and 9 from seven primary schools. In addition to this, a comparison of the MMQL instrument with the health-promoting factors described by children in the focus groups was performed. The findings showed that there is a need for health-promoting factors, such as knowledge and psychosocial support, from health care services for childhood cancer survivors. Their family and friends may contribute with support and then serve as health-promoting factors. Health-promoting factors, according to children 8-12 years of age and with experience of cancer treatment, are meaningful relationships, recreational activities and a trustful environment. The children expressed a holistic view of what promotes their health. Friendship, from the perspective of the children, is a process of equal and mutual commitment that develops over time and with interactions occurring face-to-face and digitally. The MMQL instrument may be valid and reliable in a sample of healthy children. However, less than one-third of the items in the MMQL instrument could be linked to the health-promoting factors that the children participating in the focus groups highlighted. In conclusion, the findings in this thesis contribute knowledge from a participant perspective regarding the needs and the experiences of health-promoting factors for those who have received treatment for cancer. This knowledge could form a basis for development of health promotion interventions aimed at children who have received treatment for cancer. It is suggested that if the MMQL instrument is used to evaluate health promotion among children who have received treatment for cancer, the MMQL should be complemented with items that capture aspects of health that are important to the children.

Library provision to the Tamil community in Singapore

Ilanogovan, Malarvele, Higgins, Susan E. January 2003 (has links)
This study explored public library provision to the Tamil Community in Singapore using a focus group methodology. Results of the study were analysed and implications for the library services for the Tamil community in Singapore outlined. Improvement is needed in collections, facilities, programming and services, particularly in the area of provision to young people. Among other suggestions, the participants proposed an Internet portal in Tamil. Many indicated that the library could help in promoting the usage of Tamil language in Singapore through facilitating the reading and use of the Tamil language. Participants perceived this as vital to preserve the Tamil culture in Singapore and ensure its survival as part of the country’s unique cultural heritage in the future. The Tamil language among the other Indian languages has been given official status in Singapore, and this recognition of Tamil as a national language has given the Tamils intrinsic satisfaction. The language provides them with a living link to their ethnic culture. They believe the library can help them regain their cultural identities and also assist them in repositioning themselves well in Singaporean society. The contribution of this study to the professional literature is the idea of cultural identity being central in public library services to special user groups.

Environmental preferences among steel stakeholders

Alriksson, Stina January 2013 (has links)
Emissions of carbon dioxide, dioxins, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter as well as use of non-renewable resources and energy are some important sustainability challenges for the Swedish steel industry. Much effort has been made, mainly by technical solutions, which to a high degree have decreased the emissions during the last 30 years. Technical solutions however will not be sufficient to reach sustainable development, stakeholder involvement is also necessary. Stakeholder theory states that stakeholder involvement must include a dialog between the stakeholders involved and the operation. The first step in this process is to identify which key issues the stakeholders find most important and then the organisation needs to start interact with its stakeholders. This thesis deals with such issues. Stakeholder preferences for environmental issues were assessed with conjoint analysis, Q-methodology and focus group discussions. The theory of planned behaviour was used to assess how attitudes were connected to background factors and a potential pro-environmental behaviour. Five studies have been carried out in the framework of this thesis. The studies include: a literature review, method evaluation, evaluation of environmental objectives in stakeholder groups, screening of relevant factors, evaluation of steel environmental characteristics, identification of barriers to the introduction of new materials and the impact of worry and risk perception on strategic environmental decisions. It can be concluded that the methods applied in the studies work well in eliciting preferences. It has been possible to show how different stakeholder groups as well as individuals prioritise environmental objectives and sustainability issues. Since individuals within a stakeholder group vary considerably in preferences, the results from this thesis show the importance of illustrating results on an individual level instead of the traditional group level. Also, a method has been tested where the results were brought back to the respondents in order to stimulate discussions between different stakeholder groups.
