Samvariation bland begrepp relaterade till arbetsmotivation : Hur påverkar ledningsstil, ledares sociala inflytande, locus of control och self-efficacy arbetsrelaterad motivation?

Kääriä, Annica January 2007 (has links)

The two swedish unions, Akademikerförbundet SSR and Kommunal, have a majority of female participations who mainly work in the public services. The difference between the unions is that one of them only represents members with academic educations and the other has members with lower educations. The aim of this study was to compare the two unions according to the terms exit, voice and loyalty, but also participation and influence. There were 142 participants in this study and 8 participants were interviewed in a pre-study. The result of the study shows that voice is a strong predictor to wellbeing in work life. Influence has the same effect in wellbeing and it is clear that individuals with academic education has a higher degree of influence in the workplace. Although there was a tendency for participants with higher education to have a lower degree of wellbeing. Exit was found to have negative correlation with wellbeing.

Student Influence during English Lessons : A Comparison of the Socialisation in India and Sweden

Kihlstenius, Therese, Thorsteinsen, Linnéa January 2010 (has links)

This project is a comparative study of three elementary schools in India and two elementary schools in Sweden. The purpose of this project is to study if Indian and Swedish students have the possibility to have influence on their English lessons. The research involves values conveyed in the socialisation and their consequences for student influence, democracy and society in the two countries.

National and international research and literature concerning socialisation, language didactics, democracy and student influence were used as a foundation of this study. Furthermore, the study investigates the Swedish and the Indian curricula, and makes use of observations of English lessons, questionnaires and interviews with teachers in both countries. The method for this research is qualitative with some features of quantitative research and based in the method of Grounded theory.

The results of this project is that the teachers in both countries controlled the students in different ways during the lessons and practiced student influence only when letting the students choose between preselected materials. Exclusion, inclusion and the hidden curriculum were aspects that appeared, which are likely to teach the students about their individual values in society. The lack of student influence consequently leads to the students being discouraged to be partaking citizens. Instead, the students will learn to follow the rules of society, be loyal to authorities and to carry established values with them and thus reproduce the society in each country and make it remain the same.

Freedom to choose : Women's possibility to take reproductive decisions in Babati, Tanzania

Rapp, Marie January 2009 (has links)

This thesis study women’s possibility to take reproductive decisions in Babati, Tanzania. Tanzania has one of the highest total fertility rates in Sub-Saharan Africa and hence a high child- and maternal mortality rate. Family planning service can help individuals to reach their reproductive goals but it is not always available or accessible. The purpose is to see what socioeconomic factors affect women’s ability to influence family planning, make a comparison between urban and rural settings, and see if women perceive themselves to have the freedom to choose. A field work in Babati was conducted during three weeks in the spring of 2009. The research questions were answered through a qualitative study with semi structured group interviews, mainly done with women but also with health personnel. The result was analysed through the concepts of gender, power and education. The respondents expressed that the husband is the main obstacle for their possibility to decide over their own fertility. Urban women generally felt free to take reproductive decisions, but rural women did not. The difference between the two settings is explained by women’s negotiating skills that depend on their status within the family and the society. Urban women are more often educated and therefore have more status and more power to influence decision-making, including reproductive decisions. Other problems in rural areas are that family planning services are less accessible and facilities sometimes lack resources. Rural health workers do not always keep statistics which makes it difficult for health planners to know what needs to be improved. The Ministry of Health and other actors need to promote women’s access to the facilities. Further recommendations suggest programs that empower women and educate men in family planning issues.

"Barnen gör dagen" : Förskollärares beskrivning av och arbete med barns inflytande i förskolan / "The children make the day" : Preschool teacher´s description of and work with children´s influence in preschool

Sabel, Sanna January 2010 (has links)

The purpose of this work is to contribute with knowledge regarding childrens influence in preschool from the perspective of the preschool teacher. To study this I have asked two questions: How do preschool teachers describe what the influence from the children could mean in preschool? and How do preschool teachers work for the children´s right to influence in preschool? I used qualitative interviews so as to give room for the interviewperson´s own words, thoughts and opinions. The study shows that it is important for the preschool teachers to listen to the children, let them express their opinions and let them have influence on their everyday in preschool. It also shows that the childrens opinions and thoughts are the foundation for the preschool teachers when planning the activities in preschool. Another result is that childrens influence in preschool is a difficult subject, but it is given priority. The preschool teacher´s opinions are that it is important to be aware of their own attitudes in order to give the children opportunity to have influence on preschool.
/

Pretorius, Yolandie January 2008 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to determine the influence discipline has on teaching at public schools. In chapter 2 of the literature study, the researcher focused on aspects that influence discipline at school. In chapter 3, she also looked at education law aspects that have a direct influence on education. Two structured questionnaires were used in the quantitative research. These questionnaires were distributed separately between educators and learners at nine schools of the Free State Department of Education's Fezile Dabi District. From the findings of this study, it is clear that discipline indeed has an enormous influence on teaching at public schools. The Constitution (1996) and Schools Act (84/1996) make the application of effective discipline at schools possible. / Thesis (M.Ed. Factors that Affect the Usage of Fitness and Recreation Centers by Students on College Campuses

Smith, Shaina 01 August 2011 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence why students attend or do not attend the fitness and recreation centers provided to them on campus. With the obesity epidemic growing substantially over the past several decades, it has consequentially affected a vast majority of the nation, including the college-age population. In response to this, the use of fitness and recreation centers on college campuses and universities has become a focal point for administrators and recreation center managers as a focus on student recruitment and retention. The study utilized an online questionnaire which was adapted and revised from a prior survey and corresponding research that assessed fitness and recreation center usage within the college population (Zizzi, Ayers, Watson & Keeler, 2004). The survey used for collection of data in this study assessed factors related to college students’ usage or non-usage of campus recreational facilities by college students. It was distributed to a random sample of 1,100 undergraduate students at Indiana University of Pennsylvania through their student e-mail account. Results from the data collected in this study revealed that users were more likely to be male, Caucasian, non-smokers, and have no health concerns, which is representative of prior research on fitness and recreation center participation. Factors related to usage of the recreational facilities included maintaining one’s current weight as well as weight loss. Factors that influenced occasional non-usage in the user group were lack of time and energy, too much schoolwork, and inadequate facility operational hours. A factor related to non-usage included proximity of the recreational facility in relation to the students’ living arrangements. University administrators and fitness and recreation center managers need to be conscious of the factors that influence usage for the purpose of encouraging student recruitment and retention. Higher levels of usage will increase physical activity and influence health and wellness in the college population. / Dr. Robert Kostelnik Dr. Robert Alman Dr. Joshua Castle
