By way of an analysis of sections of its oral and written discourse, this thesis aims at investigating Canadian and Western conservatism in order to shed light on the definition, role and limits that conservatives attach to political knowledge, political reason and thus, to the faculty of judgment in politics. We shall first inquire into the conservative universe to underline the epistemological dispositions its adherents distinctively exhibit and which, more often than not, determine their non-rationalism and epistemological agnosticism. We shall consequently explore the political consequences of the conservative conception of political knowledge, which often command their political pessimism. After we briefly explore the conservative reading of Canadian political history, we proceed to the illustration of conservative epistemology and politics in showing how certain Canadian conservatives have exemplified some of the principles we highlighted in previous sections of the study. As we shall show, this particular scholarly exercise is a key to a better understanding and evaluation of Canadian conservatism, as well as its political and moral enterprises.

The practice of hematology, like any other profession, requires the acquisition of adequate
judgment. Based on cognitive psychology theory, the script concordance test (SCT) has
been developed and validated as an instrument capable of evaluation clinical judgement in
various medical specialties. The goal of this study was to examine the usefulness and the
psychometric qualities of the SCT in hematology. We constructed a SCT composed of 60
questions and we administered it to 15 junior residents (R1 to R3 in internal medicine), 46
senior residents (R4, R5 and R6) and 17 hematologists from across Canada. After item
optimization, the test comprised 51 questions. Its internal consistency measured by
Cronbach alpha was 0.83. The test was able to discriminate between residents according to
their year of training. Questions containing an image (n=10) seemed to offer a stronger
discriminative potential. Scores obtained by the senior residents correlated moderately with
those obtained on a conventional hematology exam made of multiple choice questions and
short-answers (Pearson r: 0.42; p=0.02). The SCT was completed in an average of 36
minutes and was well received by participants. The SCT is a useful and valid evaluation
instrument in hematology. It may be used during training to monitor resident progression. It
may also be combined to other evaluation tools and used for summative purposes or in
continuing medical education.

The decline of artistic reference points (which several people associate with the first readymade of Marcel Duchamp) reveals the symptoms of a crisis in art. As the history of art is a representation of what we are, we can infer that the crisis extends far beyond art. However, art has the power to enlighten because it literally illustrates several problems, especially in terms of judgment and reasoning. Without references or common knowledge, could it be that our world is lacking in discernment ? This question is legitimate insofar as everything and
anything seem to be elevated into Art in our present context. The cult of individualism seems
to be one of the causes of the problem. As observed in the régime de singularité (in the words
of art sociologist, Nathalie Heinich) relations in the world of art are becoming more and more
conflicted : when asking an artist to justify his own work, rationality necessarily becomes
instrumental; it also renders the role of critics and institutions obsolete. This thesis focuses on
analyzing, from a philosophical perspective, the various manifestations of the crisis in art and
its issues in the world today.

Povinnost péče řádného hospodáře člena voleného orgánu kapitálové obchodní společnosti / Duty of due managerial care of memeber of an elective body of a limited companyČerný, Pavol January 2015 (has links)
IN ENGLISH The purpose of this paper is to analyse all segments of the duty of due managerial care of member of an elective body of a limited company and propose de lege ferenda approach to segments of the duty. Another goal of this master's thesis was to examine new business judgment rule and present an alternative British model of the rule. To provide a comparative approach the paper utilizes the British company law approach. The first chapter introduces the origin of the duty of due managerial care, in particular its roots in Roman law and Austrian civil code. The second chapter is divided into five subchapters. The first subchapter highlights the recent changes to the duty of due managerial care after recodification of private law. The second subchapter examines duty of care as one of two integral parts of the duty of due managerial care. Firstly, it analyzes the quality of care expected of directors. Secondly, it focuses on the test for determination of necessary standard of care. Thirdly, following a critical examination of the test for determination of a standard of care, the paper suggests de lege ferenda test of due care. Finally, the first subchapter considers the British duty of care, skill and diligence. The third subchapter covers the duty of loyalty including duties derived from it...

Numerická kompetence u primátů / Numerical competence in primatesRejlová, Markéta January 2016 (has links)
Numerical competences include the number of abilities as representation of the quantity and transformations or operations with quantity. Many species of animals can use these abilities for example during searching for food, sexual partners and also for detection of number of competitors or predators. Numerical abilities such as counting or estimating quantity can increase the chance of survival and reproduction. In this work, I summarize some previous studies of numerical competences in primates and humans and I also mention experiments in other species. I divide the competences into chapters: estimating of the numbers (relative and absolute), counting, summation, conservation of quantity, proportion, ordinality and transitivity. The aim of this study was to study the ability of macaques (Macaca mulatta) to distinguish between the quantities of two sets. In the following part of experiment I observed the preference of monkeys for size or the number of stimuli. This preference was studied also in children. The results confirm the ability of relative numerousness judgment of monkeys. The results demonstrate that with increasing difference of quantity between the two sets the ability of distinguish between the two quantities also increase. Other experiment studied preference of larger number of...

Eschatologie u významných teologických postav v období české reformace / Eschatology in the case of eminent personalities in the Bohemian Reformatory movementMüllerová, Anna January 2016 (has links)
The work offers a comprehensive preview of opinion streams on the theme of eschatology, final things or also the end of time , in various stages of the development of human society, whether Jewish or Christian, with an emphasis on the medieval period in the Lands of the Bohemian Crown. Iťs based on the biblical texts of the Old and New Testaments, particularly on the New T estament text of the Book of Revelations. It deals with religious situation in the Middle Ages and simultaneously also with political, cultural and social factors. It reveals certain sources of heretical teachings, especially the Vaudois Church, from which eminent theologists' opinions crystallized and mentions the status of heretics in medieval society. It also covers the teachings of John Wycliffe. The work is divided into six parts, in which eschatological moods and vision that reigned i n contemporary societies are substantiated. It analyses them, and literary woeks document the main ideas and opinions of eminent reformátory scholars, such as for example Milíč of Kroměříž, Matěj of Janov, Master Jan Hus and Petr Chelčický. The work presen ts the teachings of these theological and philosophical personalities in the way that they are linked to one another in the issue of eschatology. The individual parts of the work present and...

Přesnost monitorování v procesu dosahování výsledků žáků ve škole / Monitoring Accuracy as a Skill in Academic PerformancePešout, Ondřej January 2012 (has links)
This study has aimed to investigate monitoring accuracy as a skill in an academic performance. First part of the study defined metacognitive monitoring theoretically as a strategy evolved from metacognitive strategies and based on self-regulated learning principles. Previous studies assert that monitoring accuracy is a beneficial skill that enhances performance regardless a domain of use. In order to give those claims empirical support in the Czech educational environment, the research has been carried out. Data have been collected from three classes of 6th graders within six weeks. Classes were assigned during the practice test into different settings: individual, competitive and cooperative. Reading comprehension has been selected as the monitored skill. The results corroborate the assumptions that monitoring accuracy training is beneficial both for performance and for increasing metacognitive skills to monitor. Secondary, the cooperative setting appeared to be the only one that both calibration accuracy and reading comprehension did significantly increase. The outcomes and recommendations for follow-up studies are discussed.

Psychologie et ontologie dans l'oeuvre d'Alexius Meinong / Psychology and ontology in the works of Alexius MeinongLanglet, Bruno 09 December 2013 (has links)
In this work, it is claimed that Meinong’s theory of relations, although established in a psychological aim, has strong ontological implications under a particular aspect and peculiar to Meinong’s view. The requirements appearing from this relationship between psychology and ontology enlighten the meinongian realism. Associated with the problem of complexions which Meinong inherited from the discovery of gestalt qualities by Ehrenfels ; and regarding some applications which are made in the theory of the measure ; such a theory of relations leads Meinong to distinguishing the activities of the mind and the properties of the objects of these activities – properties that cannot ontologically depend on the mind. We claim that the distinction of Twardowski between content and object is not what determines the position of Meinong on objects and on objects of higher order. Meinong seems to have conceived a very similar distinction along his researches on relations and complexions. He even seemed to adopt a critical posture toward some implications of the Twardowski’s distinction - this posture clarifying the specificity of the meinongian realism. The theory of relations also grounds the Meinong’s view on the distinction between existential judgments and categorical judgments. His refusal of Twardowski’s representationalism, and his refusal of the Brentano-martyan view on the reducibility of the categorical judgments to existential ones, are internally connected with his thesis on assumptions and on “absistent” objects.

This doctoral thesis studies within the joint action theory in didactics the evolution of a teacher’s practical epistemology that has no expertise in dance. The analysis is in relation with teacher continuing professional learning sessions he followed during three years. A longitudinal six years analysis was conducted using a multi-dimensional approach of observational data lessons. At a first step the didactical system of professional learning sessions was studied. The second step concerns the observation of teacher’s practice in a middle school during physical education classes (students: 11 to 12 years). Two scales were used: the first macro-didactic scale describes the practices and the knowledge enacted by the teacher all over the years and contributes to define “learning games” which are in relation with choreographic artworks. The second micro-didactic scale examines in details the teacher’s relationships to choreographic artworks during four learning games. The findings show that the knowledge to be taught and learned as proposed during the professional learning sessions is remodeled and mobilized in singular ways during the joint action with students. All of this contributing to teacher’s practical epistemology moves.
