On the hunt for a Bargain : A quantitative study on Generation Z’s impact on the Second-Hand industry during the Pandemic

Palmgren, Minna, Zylfijaj, Erolinda January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to examine and investigate if there has been a growth within the second hand industry during the pandemic and if so, investigate what factors there are that have contributed to the growth. The target group of this study is within generation Z and their view on second hand. The study is based on the number of gaps that had been identified with help on earlier research on the subject. Numerous people in the literature and articles are eager to present that the second hand market has increased, but why it has increased and what has caused generation Z to shop more second hand is more challenging to answer. Furthermore, an analysis has been conducted in order to cover the gaps that have been identified. The study is based on a quantitative study with generation Z as respondents. The results from this study shows that the generation has begun to shop more second hand over the last years than they have been doing before. This is due to the fact that the generation is very active on social media where second hand has become a trend. New websites have emerged and it has become increasingly accessible to find good second hand bargains. It has also become increasingly common to seek inspiration on social media to find a foundation where they can express themselves with clothes and products. The results also show that there is a growing interest in products that are sustainable and environmentally conscious. It can be said that there are a number of factors that have played a major role in the growth of the second hand industry.

Perception Of The Usefulness Of The Balanced Scorecard In Operational Performance Management During The Covid-19 Pandemic : – A Case Study Of Warehouse Operation.

Lata, Jyotsana, George, Ann Sarah, Ngeleh, Chioma January 2022 (has links)
Abstract Purpose: This study aims to explore the usefulness of the Balanced Scorecard in an organization considering the disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic in a warehouse. Furthermore, the Operational Performance Management of Atea Logistics AB (an IT infrastructure service provider warehouse) during the Covid-19 pandemic is presented with regards to the quality and delivery objectives form the customer perspective of the balanced scorecard along with how it helped Atea prepare for future disruptions.    Methodology: A narrative literature review was presented to highlight the usefulness of the balanced scorecard in an organization in RQ1. In addition, qualitative research was conducted in a single case study of Atea Logistics AB on the usefulness of balanced scorecard and operational performance management objectives of quality and delivery in a warehouse from the customer perspective during the Covid-19 pandemic with the help of semi-structured online interviews/emails with three respondents from the company.   Findings:  The initial result of the study exhibited that the balanced scorecard was extremely useful to monitor the operational performance of the warehouse by linking the impact of the external environment with the internal activities during the Covid-19 pandemic and respond to the situation at hand promptly and minimize its influence on the customers. A second finding was that the impact of the disruption was mixed for the warehouse operations as the demand for products increased but stock was insufficient to fulfil the demand. The third set of findings to help prepare for future disruptions is to plan purchases in advance, urge customers to plan their orders well in advance and to order stock items rather than customized products, collaborate with suppliers to arrange alternative sources, and focus on employee well-being that directly influences the operational activities in the warehouse.

Parental Self-Efficacy During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Parents' Experiences Supporting the Learning of Their Child(ren) with Special Educational Needs

James, Michaella 01 September 2022 (has links)
Schools closed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic with the expectation that learning continue from home. This presented a unique challenge for parents of children with special educational needs as during this time levels of stress were high and access to supports were low. The purpose of this mixed methods study was to explore and describe parents of children with SEN's experiences with at-home learning as it relates to their learning-specific parental self-efficacy, perceived stress and perceived support from their child’s school. Quantitative analysis revealed that learning-specific PSE was significantly and negatively related to perceived stress. Parents did not differ in their perception of school supports. While qualitative analysis revealed many similarities between groups, it also revealed nuanced differences that show that parents of high and low PSE experienced the school closures differently. Overall, the findings of this study provide evidence that parents with high and low parental self-efficacy differ in their experiences of supporting the learning of their children with SEN. This study serves to add to the limited body of literature on learning-specific PSE, as well as inform the efforts of schools and other professionals in supporting the parents of children with SEN and their families.

Lights, Camera, Action: A Focus Group Study Exploring University Students' Experiences of Learning via Zoom

Garris, Bill R., Novotny, Bethany A., Ko, Kwangman 01 January 2022 (has links)
In response to the global Covid-19 pandemic, universities across the world moved coursework online andfrequently used Zoom videotelephony software to replicate the experience of learning in a classroom. While this platform supported certain aspects of the traditional classroom, such as immediacy of responses and the facilitation of social interactions, learning via Zoom also differed in various ways from the familiar classroom experience. Although there has been considerable research on online learning, most studies focused on an asynchronous design and interaction. Thus, the understanding of learning within synchronous, video-mediatedplatforms, such as Zoom, is nascent. In this study, the data was derivedfrom a focus group with eight university students from the United States that was conducted over Zoom. Using content analysis, the transcripts of the focus group's interaction yielded four themes: Zoom Challenges, Zoom Benefits, Faculty Proficiency, and Student Learning Experiences. Cameras, a distinguishing feature of Zoom, could strengthen engagement, yet they also heighten anxiety for some andfatigue for most users. However, when those challenges were mitigated and the benefits harnessed by faculty informed about how to support student learning, students experienced a deepened sense of connection to their peers, the faculty, and their learning. Family science educators who recognize the strengths and limitations of this platform have the opportunity to teach more effectively and support their students' socio-emotional learning and well-being.

Associations Between Parenting Stress, Feeding Practices, and Child Eating Behaviors During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Gonzalez, Maria G 01 March 2021 (has links) (PDF)
The COVID-19 pandemic provides an important opportunity to understand how parenting stress during social crisis may predict child feeding practices and perceptions of child mealtime behaviors. The objective of the present study was to explore whether parents’ perceived increases in and overall levels of parenting stress during the pandemic were associated with controlling feeding practices and perceptions of child eating behaviors. Parents (n = 284) of 4–6-year-old children completed a cross-sectional online survey between March and April 2020. The survey assessed parents’ perceived change in parenting stress during the onset of the pandemic and levels of parenting stress during the pandemic (via the Parenting Stress Scale), as well as child feeding practices (via the Comprehensive Feeding Practices Questionnaire), and children’s eating behaviors (via the Child Eating Behavior Questionnaire). Ordinal linear regressions were used examine whether changes in and levels of parenting stress predicted use of controlling or responsive feeding practices and parents’ perceptions of child eating behaviors. The majority (63.7%, n = 181) of parents indicated their family was moderately or extremely emotionally affected by the pandemic and 56.7% (n = 161) indicated pandemic-related precautions had been moderately or extremely challenging. Perceived increases in parenting stress during the onset of the pandemic were associated with more frequent use of food as a reward (OR = 1.15, 95% CI = 1.04 – 1.26) and for emotional regulation (OR = 1.13, 95% CI = 1.04 – 1.23), as well as low child food responsiveness (OR = 0.91, 95% CI = 0.84 – 0.99) and lower odds of slow eating (OR = 0.92, 95% CI = 0.84 – 1.00). Higher overall levels of parenting stress were associated with more frequent use of food as a reward (OR = 1.05, 95% CI = 1.02 – 1.08) and for emotional regulation (OR = 1.05, 95% CI = 1.03 – 1.08) but also with use of pressuring feeding practices (OR = 1.03, 95% CI = 1.01 – 1.06) and encouraging a balanced diet less frequently (OR = 1.03, 95% CI = 1.01 – 1.06). Higher overall levels of parenting stress were associated with greater child food fussiness (OR = 1.05, 95% CI = 1.02 – 1.08), low enjoyment of food (OR = 1.05, 95% CI = 1.02 – 1.07), and low satiety responsiveness (OR = 0.95, 95% CI = 0.93 – 0.98). During the COVID-19 pandemic, increases in and high levels of parenting stress predicted parents’ use of food for emotion and behavioral regulation, but also with various domains of children’s eating behaviors. Results highlight the need for targeted efforts to support families during social crisis.

Livsmedelsproducenters hantering av coronapandemin – problem, lösningar och lärdomar : Verksamhetschefers upplevelser av organisationsförändring under coronapandemin

Messaoudi, Younas January 2022 (has links)
In this study, we have delved deeply into the European food industry's response to the altered reality during the Covid-19 pandemic. Through qualitative interviews with six business leaders from different parts of the sector, combined with a comprehensive literature review, we have strived to enhance the understanding of the organizational changes and strategic solutions that the industry has employed to navigate the crisis. The challenges we observed included disruptions in the supplychain, stress among employees due to illness and work-related pressure, as well as shifting sales and market patterns. Despite these difficulties, the companies managed to adapt by restructuring their organizations and leadership styles, which mitigated the negative impact of the pandemic. Some of the most significant lessons included the importance of having a flexible and adaptable organizational structure, and the necessity to develop effective communication strategies and leadership methods during uncertain times. The results of our study also point out that there is a need to integrate social aspects into food production and distribution. This would increase companies' resilience and ability to maintain operations in an increasingly uncertain global context. We found that the pandemic has contributed to increasing the importance of local production and consumption, strengthening the role of digital technology in streamlining communication and workflows, and focusing more on companies' sustainability initiatives and responsibilities. To further utilize these insights, we propose future research focusing on tracking companies' adaptations over time, comparing different industries and regions, and examining how the implementation of changes is related to the achievement of sustainability goals. We also underscore that both quantitative and qualitative research methods should be used to gain adeeper understanding of the processes driven by crises like the pandemic. In summary, our study shows that, despite the challenges that the Covid-19 pandemic has brought, food producers in Europe have demonstrated a remarkable ability to adapt and reshape their organizations and business models. The main lesson is that flexibility, communication, and rapid adaptation are crucial in handling crises and ensuring a sustainable and resilient food industry. This insight can assist policymakers and industry leaders in formulating more effective strategies and guidelines to promote a more sustainable and resilient organization.

Sjuksköterskors upplevelser av att ge palliativ vård under covid-19-pandemin : En litteraturstudie / Nurses' experiences of providing palliative care during the COVID-19 pandemic : A literature study

Nilsson, Karin, Persson, Amanda January 2023 (has links)
Background: The palliative care approach rests on the foundation of alleviating suffering, physically and mentally and promoting a good quality of life, at times when disease no longer can be cured. During the COVID-19 pandemic, barriers were created in the form of social distancing, personal protective equipment and fear of being infected. This affected the ability of palliative care nurses to provide patient-centered care. Aim: The aim was to illustrate nurses’ experiences of providing palliative care during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: The study was a general literature study with an inductive approach, based on 10 scientific articles. The articles included in the result were quality reviewed, processed and summarized. Result: Analysis of the articles identified three main categories based on the result of the articles: experiences of altered communication, experiences of ethical and moral dilemmas and experiences of organizational changes. The main categories were supplemented with nine subcategories. Conclusion:The results illustrate that palliative care nurses experienced limitations in their professional performance as a result if the COVID-19 pandemic due to obstacles that made it harder for them to care for patients in accordance with the values of palliative care.
