Autonomous navigation, 3D reconstruction, and mobility are examples of areas of research which use disparity maps as an important element. Although a lot of work has been done in the stereo vision field, it is not easy to build stereo systems with concepts such as reuse and extensible scope. In this study, we explore this gap and it presents a software architecture that can accommodate different stereo methods through a standard structure. Firstly, it introduces some scenarios that illustrate use cases of disparity maps and it shows a novel architecture that foments code reuse. A Disparity Computation Framework (DCF) is presented and we discuss how its components are structured. Then we developed a prototype which closely follows the proposal architecture and we prepared some test cases to be performed. Furthermore, we have implemented disparity methods for validation purposes and to evaluate our disparity refinement method. This refinement method, named as Segmented Consistency Check (SCC), was designed to increase the robustness of stereo matching algorithms. It consists of a segmentation process, statistical analysis of grouping areas and a support weighted function to find and to fill in unknown disparities. The experimental results show that the DCF can satisfy different scenarios on-demand. Besides, they show that SCC method is an efficient approach that can make some enhancements in disparity maps, as reducing the disparity error measure.

The Sign Language, besides being a linguistic system, is an element of constitution of the deaf subject, adding its identity and culture. By this reason, it is so important that the contents of the computerized systems can also be available in sign languages. From a systematic review of the literature that showed the absence of methods, tools or techniques that made references to the internationalization of software for sign languages, a high-level architecture and a detailed design were elaborated contemplating the main requirements of quality. The requirements were extracted with the help of teachers, students and deaf interpreters and listeners of the Faculdade de Letras / Libras of the Universidade Federal de Goiás (UFG). The case study is a Web application of the questionnaire about quality of life, wich was originally proposed by the World Health Organization, translated to Libras by the Letters Faculty of the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), in partnership with the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul UFRGS). After the adaptation of the application to the internationalization for sign language, a static analysis of three versions of the application was performed. The original version, a version suitable for internationalization for sign languages and a third version with the addition of more than one sign language. The analyzes sought to determine the qualitative effects of the appropriateness of the original application for the internationalization for sign languages and the addition of new translations to an application already suitable to the proposed architecture.

JAIR CAVALCANTI LEITE 10 August 2001 (has links)
[en] Interactive systems usability could be enhanced if users learn all the knowledge - the usabilty model - that capability them in applying designer`s potential solutions to domain tasks. The Semiotic Engineering approach perceives interactive systems as metacommunication artifacts that send a message from designer to users whose expression is the lower-level messages exchanged between user and system and whose content is the usability model. Starting from this perspective and based on semiotic theory concepts from Charles S. Peirce and Umberto Eco we present conceptual models to the interface as the expression and to the usability model as the content of designer`s message. We also develop a semiotic system to support user interface design. The system is composed by a specification language and rules that maps specified messagens to user interface widgets. Our emphasis here is not in aesthetics aspects of user interfaces, but in the interactive and performing nature of the interface message as it is carried throughout the computational medium. Flight Software Development for Demise Observation Capsule

Zamouril, Jakub January 2017 (has links)
This work describes the process of the design of a flight software for a space-qualified device, outlines the development and testing of the SW, and provides a description of the final product. The flight software described in this work has been developed for the project Demise Observation Capsule (DOC). DOC is a device planned to be attached to an upper stage of a launch vehicle and observe its demise during atmospheric re-entry at the end of its mission. Due to constraint on communication time during the mission and the need to maximize the amount of transferred data, a custom communication protocol has been developed. / Demise Observation Capsule

Towards using fluctuations in internal quality metrics to find design intents

Schweizer, Thomas 01 1900 (has links)
Version control is the backbone of the modern software development workflow. While building more and more complex systems, developers have to understand unfamiliar subsystems of source code. Understanding the logic of unfamiliar code is relatively straightforward. However, understanding its design and its genesis is often only possible through scattered and unreliable commit messages and project documentation -- when they exist. Thus, developers need a reliable and relevant baseline to understand the history of software projects. In this thesis, we take the first steps towards understanding change patterns in commit histories. We study the changes in software metrics through the evolution of projects. Through multiple exploratory studies, we conduct quantitative and qualitative experiments on several datasets extracted from a pool of 13 projects. We mine the changes in software metrics for each commit of the respective projects and manually build oracles to represent ground truth. We identified several categories by analyzing these changes. One pattern, in particular, dubbed "tradeoffs", where some metrics may improve at the expense of others, proved to be a promising indicator of design-related changes -- in some cases, also hinting at a conscious design intent from the authors of the changes. Demonstrating the findings of our exploratory studies, we build a general model to identify the application of a well-known set of design principles in new projects. Our overall results suggest that metric fluctuations have the potential to be relevant indicators for valuable macroscopic insights about the design evolution in a project's development history.

Partizipative Softwaregestaltung im Kontext virtueller Gemeinschaften

Finck, Matthias, Janneck, Monique, Obendorf, Hartmut, Rolf, Arno January 2006 (has links)

An integrated System Development Approach for Mobile Machinery in consistence with Functional Safety Requirements

Lautner, Erik, Körner, Daniel January 2016 (has links)
The article identifies the challenges during the system and specifically the software development process for safety critical electro-hydraulic control systems by using the example of the hydrostatic driveline with a four speed transmission of a feeder mixer. An optimized development approach for mobile machinery has to fulfill all the requirements according to the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, considering functional safety, documentation and testing requirements from the beginning and throughout the entire machine life cycle. The functionality of the drive line control could be verified in advance of the availability of a prototype by using a “software-in-the-loop” development approach, based on a MATLAB/SIMULINK model of the drive line in connection with the embedded software.

Sustainable Software Engineering : An Investigation Into the Technical Sustainability Dimension

HYGERTH, HENRIK January 2016 (has links)
is study has focused on the technical sustainability dimension of sustainable soŸware engineering. Sustainabilitywithin soŸware engineering is something that has recently started to gain traction, where most of theresearch has focused on the environmental dimension.e purpose of this study was to investigate the technicalsustainability dimension, and contribute by continuing to build upon previous research which has suggestedsustainability as a part of non-functional requirements and as a part of soŸware quality.is study was conducted with a qualitative approach. is approach used interviews with people withexperience of working in soŸware development to collect data. e interviews were used to gain in-depthinformation of the dišerent aspects in soŸware development, e.g. development processes.e results, based on the interviews, showed that from a technical sustainability perspective there are issueswith where the focus of the work is in soŸware development and also problems related to how timemanagementis used.e results also showed that there was some lacking in understanding the benets and tradeošs ofdecisions made in the project, for example regarding the soŸware design, which can result in unnecessarycomplexity is acquired.e study found that the culture within soŸware development projects and companies needs to be changedtowards a culture which promotes the development of high quality soŸware. Because non-functional requirementsand soŸware quality are components of technical sustainability, therefore is the technical sustainabilityhigher if the quality is high. It was further found that this culture would be possible if changes were made tothe way prioritisations are made, and the way testing is performed should be extended. Finally it was foundthat the understanding of the benets and tradeošs of decisions and ideas needs to be increased and extendedcollectively.e study concluded that the technical sustainability dimension can be achieved through these changes andthat the problem and solution therefore are not small and local but rather a big and complex issue where thesolution spans several solutions that encompasses dišerent aspects and perspectives.

Fault prediction in information systems

Walden, Love January 2019 (has links)
Fault detection is a key component to minimizing service unavailability. Fault detection is generally handled by a monitoring system. This project investigates the possibility of extending an existing monitoring system to alert based on anomalous patterns in time series. The project was broken up into two areas. The first area conducted an investigation whether it is possible to alert based on anomalous patterns in time series. A hypothesis was formed as follows; forecasting models cannot be used to detect anomalous patterns in time series. The investigation used case studies to disprove the hypothesis. Each case study used a forecasting model to measure the number of false, missed and correctly predicted alarms to determine if the hypothesis was disproved. The second area created a design for the extension. An initial design of the system was created. The design was implemented and evaluated to find improvements. The outcome was then used to create a general design. The results from the investigation disproved the hypothesis. The report also presents a general software design for an anomaly detection system. Projektet bröts upp i två områden.
