Analysis of complete contacts subject to fatigueFlicek, Robert C. January 2015 (has links)
Engineering assemblies are very frequently subject to fretting fatigue, which is a damage process that results when very small slip displacements arise at nominally stationary frictional interfaces. Fretting accelerates the initiation and early propagation of fatigue cracks, thereby causing significant reductions in the fatigue performance of many critical engineering components. A majority of the previous research on fretting fatigue has focused on incomplete (i.e. smooth-edged) contacts, while complete (i.e. sharp-edged) contacts have received less attention. The aim of this thesis is to contribute to the theoretical understanding of complete contacts, especially when they are subject to fatigue conditions. This problem is addressed in two separate ways. First, because fretting failures almost invariably initiate from the edge of contact, a detailed understanding of the conditions in this region should enable more accurate assessments of fatigue performance to be made. Thus, an asymptotic analysis is presented, which provides an accurate description of the contact edge under many conditions. This is done by using the elasticity solution for a semi-infinite notch to represent the state of stress near the contact edge in an asymptotic sense. Attention is then placed on the fact that cyclically loaded frictional contacts tend toward a steady-state response in which less frictional slip (and energy dissipation) occurs than in the first few load cycles. To investigate this effect, a numerical sub-structuring procedure is described, which significantly reduces the number of degrees of freedom in finite element models of frictional contact. This reduced model is then used to calculate the shakedown limit, i.e. the amplitude of cyclic load above which frictional slip is guaranteed to persist in the steady state. The sensitivity of the steady-state solution to the initial residual displacement state is then investigated, and it is shown that initial conditions can have a large influence on the steady-state behaviour of complete contacts.

Caracterisation dynamique et conception robuste d’interfaces de structures / Dynamic characterization and robust design of structural interfacesWeisser, Thomas 14 September 2012 (has links)
Complex mechanical structures are composed of an assembly of several components, often exhibiting different mechanical properties and joined at their interfaces by different junction types. The various dynamic behaviours of these substructures and the applied external loadings generate important efforts on the main structure, resulting in high acceleration responses of the on-board equipments, affecting their performance, reliability and security. It is therefore necessary to protect them from these harsh conditions by isolating them from the rest of the structure. These researches are related to structural vibration control and aim at proposing a new method to dynamically characterize interfaces between different substructures. This method is then integrated to a robust design approach to minimize the power transmitted between a source and a receiver substructure. A power flow mode method has been developed, which allows determining eigenvalues and eigenvectors respectively representing qualitative and quantitative information on the power flowing inside the structure. This has been further applied to study the power transmitted at the interface, making it possible to identify the direction associated to the dominant power flow pattern and to quantify their contribution. These results have been applied to propose a robust design approach of structural interfaces. Optimization procedures have been implemented and compared to minimize the power transmitted between with respect to the interface stiffness parameters. The importance of considering the robustness of these solutions has been underlined by performing a complementary analysis based on a non-probabilistic approach.

Modélisation d’un système exploratoire d’aide à l’insulinothérapie chez le sujet âgé diabétique de type 2 / Modeling an exploratory system to develop support tools of insulin therapy in the elderly type 2 diabeticSedaghati, Afshan 30 September 2014 (has links)
Starting insulin therapy with daily multi-injections in the elderly type 2 diabetic patients is a difficult challenge. The possible loss of autonomy induced by the treatment and the variability of the insulin needs must be taken into account. In the therapeutic protocols, starting insulin therapy is based on the prescription of low dosage adjusted according to blood glucose results. A time of adjustment is therefore necessary to prescribe the optimal dose. For these reasons, this thesis proposes an original methodology for modeling insulin therapy in elderly subjects with type 2 diabetes from certain biological and clinical endogenous variables with two objectives:1. assist physicians at the stage of determination of insulin prescription, 2. individualize insulin treatment depending on the physiological profile of the patient. The methodology based on fuzzy logic, allowed the analysis of a sample of 71 diabetic patients aged over 65 years. Three profiles types of insulin requirements and the discriminating variables underlying this typology have been identified. Methodology based on case based reasoning allows individualizing the treatment to prescribe insulin dosage from the closest (nearest) cases selected in the sample. Our works provide two main contributions:- on insulin therapy in elderly type 2 diabetic patients, - on the original methodology of the digital process of medical data at therapeutic follow-ups.

Paleoecological studies suggest that the floristic composition, the structure and the current distribution of African dense tropical forests have been influenced by several factors. In particular, the establishment of ecological gradients at the scale of the continent over last several million years has favored parapatric speciation. Also, during past climatic changes, certain regions considered to be « forest refugia » are supposed to have been little (or not) affected by climatic variations, whereas ecosystems located between these regions were more or less profoundly modified, favoring allopatric speciation of forest species. Gaps remain in the identification of forest refugia in Africa, and their role in speciation and in shaping patterns in geographic distribution of genetic variation is insufficiently studied. These questions are addressed here in a study covering the genus Khaya (Meliaceae), a model genus whose species present variable ecological affinities. This multidisciplinary study, which mobilizes botanical, phylogeographic and climatic niche-modeling approaches, has the following objectives : (1) to define the taxonomic limits of species of the genus and to understand the speciation events that led to their current distribution and geographical genetic structuring ; (2) to analyze the phylogeographic patterns of Khaya anthotheca and of K. ivorensis ; (3) to test the force of the relationship between patterns of genetic diversity, ecological gradients and putative Plio-Pleistocene forest refugia ; (4) to identify the potential climatic niches of all species of Khaya and estimate how their geographic distributions shifted over time. Our results show the following : (i) the presence of five distinct genetic groups within the K. anthotheca complex. Analysis of botanical characters led to identification of the same groups, permitting the characterization of five different species. Three of these present allopatrique or parapatric distributions and two of them are locally found in sympatry, one of which is a species new to science ; (ii) a significant correlation between niche overlap, for each pair of these five species and the genetic distance separating each pair ; (iii) a contraste between zones of high diversity of the nuclear genome and zones of high diversity of the cytoplasmic genome of K. ivorensis, so that it is not possible to clearly separate the populations despite the presence of two genetic clusters owing to isolation by distance ; and (iv) the recognitiion, and the description of nine spcies in the gens Khaya. All this new knowledge sheds light on the structuring of biodiversity of African forests and contributes to laying the foundation for a strategy of conservation and sustainable management of these species, greatly sought after not only for their timber but also because of their medicinal uses.

A produção social do espaço urbano em Londrina - PR : a valorização imobiliária e a reestruturação urbana /Amorim, Wagner Vinicius. January 2011 (has links)
This dissertation examines the production of urban space and their interaction with the real estate market, from the reality investigated in Londrina - PR. The objectives are to analyze the expansion of urban land and price developments in Londrina, the aim of understanding the process of selective recovery of space by the mechanisms of the circuit housing. Thus, the conjuncture of the last decade was based on the investigative process. However, understanding the physical and territorial expansion of the city of Londrina with respect to shares historically engendered by agents responsible for the production of urban space under the capitalist mode of production, namely: the private agents, the state and civil society. Thus, we held a discussion on the role of developers of subdivisions in the last four decades, and the role of the state in housing promotion and structuring of the city. Consisting this analytical framework, the understanding back to the study of the evolution of urban land prices from the survey and mapping of the variables available in the classifieds of land from the main newspaper of local circulation. Finally, we analyzed the structure of urban space by the dynamics of real estate activity, investigating the more specific case of the Eastern Zone of the city of Londrina, where he currently is real estate appreciation and incorporation of new houses quite illustrative of contemporary urban restructuring / Mestre

Planning and structuring of software testing in automotive embedded electronic systems.Hodel, Kleber Nogueira 08 June 2018 (has links)
The automotive industry has been changing its profile drastically in the last decade, becoming more intensive in computer systems, and consequently in software, than in mechanical systems. Most of the functionality of modern vehicles is controlled by distributed software, within many interconnected Electronic Control Units (ECUs), so that the vehicle can be considered as a set of complex systems. As a result of integration, testing for distributed software functions has become a major challenge. Many strategies have been proposed to organize the multilevel software testing in embedded automotive systems in order to reduce costs and improve their effectiveness and robustness. This research intends to extend this concept of multilevel software testing based on the V development model, designing a systematic methodology that maps each function within the embedded system of the vehicle, without the existence of a detailed specification of each component, allowing the definition of a strategy and software testing planning in advance. This methodology was fully developed incorporating the characteristics of the automotive application, including the ISO 26262 functional safety requirements. In this way, the new methodology improves the efficiency of the embedded systems development processes, within strict security conditions, allowing the anticipation of the planning based on a mapping and encoding of the function and test activities proposed in this thesis, which also serves as a basis for future development of embedded system traceability solutions.

|O caso da Região Metropolitana de Campinas| / The public polices of housing of interest social in the prodution of urban space. | The case of the metropolitan region of Campinas |Silva, Paula Francisca Ferreira da 21 June 2016 (has links)
The thesis discusses the significance of the production of Housing of Social Interest in the Urban and metropolitan space of the Campinas region. It assumes that the Determination of the implementation of Social Interest Housing in certain areas of the Cities through public policies is fundamental in the urban structuring and Metropolitan Understanding the picture of urban expansion through production and Social Interest Rooms allows us to assess the importance of In the constitution of urban and metropolitan design. From source data Primary production of HIS in the twenty municipalities of the Metropolitan Region of Campinas, As well as its master plans, housing legislation and the study of Relevant bibliography, an analysis is developed of how these public policies Manifested in the physical space of the city, what were the logics of territorial occupation and Relations between housing policies and the metropolitan expansion of the territory. The work Covers the period extending from 1964, year of creation of the National Housing Bank (BNH), until 2014, at which time the implantations resulting from the Minha Casa Program My Life, Federal Law No. 11,977 of 2009, are already visible and noticeable. A little The different municipalities, of the metropolitan condition, of the flows, of the Processes of use, occupation and location in the territory, results in the elaboration of policies Which, in addition to being disarticulated between themselves and disconnected as territories, Correspond to the urban and metropolitan realities of the Campinas region. Like this, Housing policies fail to address the issues raised by Territory and how much could be leveraged for a better Of the mosaic of municipalities that make up the MRC.

Biofuels have renewed a strong development since 2000 in West Africa countries without a clear and shared vision by all stakeholders. However, the strategies and interactions between public and private actors are important in the construction of these biofuels sector and policies. The purpose of this thesis is to analyze public action described as "all relations [stakeholder's interplay] more or less institutionalized, practices and representations that contribute to the production and regulation of social relations" in the development of biofuels in Burkina Faso. It analyzes the influence of stakeholder's interplay in the emergence and structuring of several biofuels sectors and policy development. This thesis has also sought to analyze the influence of actors perceptions and interactions in the construction of institutional arrangements and sector governance. Finally, from a multi-criteria analysis based on the actors perceptions on potential structuring effects of biofuels in Burkina Faso development, it was highlighted the influence of these perceptions in explaining the current institutional landscape.

Previous issue date: 2018-02-22 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / This work aims to analyze the formation process of the ratio decidendi, as well as its applicability in Brazilian's civil procedural law from the introduction of the binding judicial precedents system fixed in the CPC/2015. The core of this study is focused on the construction of the ratio decidendi, through the establishment of its meaning in Brazilian law, as well as the settlement of parameters which we understand as necessary to its construction. In order to do this, we introduced the structuring vectors of the formation of the ratio decidendi. It is made, from these chosen vectors, a review of the leading opinion of the judgment and the decision-making process, in order to highlight the prominence of a dialogal and convergent relation between the argument of the judges to the establishment of a universalizable decision pattern. It has also analyzed the guidance of the courts in the delimitation of the ratio decidendi and the continuous process of redefinition of the ratio decidendi's incidence field and even its content. Furthermore, it has examined the problem of 'summarysme' in Brazilian law and how it is impossible to understand the complete spectrum of operation of the ratio decidendi based only on the summary. Finally, we have highlighted the operational dynamics of judicial precedents, analyzing the application process of the precedent through a dialogical relation between the litigants and the judge, with the intensification of the judgment recital in the analytical -rather than merely syllogistic or reductionist- use of the precedents system / O trabalho tem como objetivo analisar o processo de formação da ratio decidendi e sua aplicabilidade no direito processual civil brasileiro a partir da introdução do sistema de precedentes judiciais vinculantes previstos no CPC/2015.
