[en] THE HISTORICIST ETHICS OF JOHANN GUSTAV DROYSEN / [pt] A ÉTICA HISTORISTA DE JOHANN GUSTAV DROYSENRENATA SAMMER 27 November 2012 (has links)
[pt] Esta dissertação é dedicada à proposta de Johann Gustav Droysen de
fundar uma disciplina, a história, na ética. Portanto nos concentraremos em sua
principal obra teórica, a Historik. Consideraremos inicialmente o contexto do
moderna. / [en] This dissertation is dedicated to Johann Gustav Droysen’s suggestion to
install the discipline of History on ethics. Therefore we shall concentrate on his
theoretical work, Historik. Firstly, we will consider the wilder context of German
XIXth century historical thought, secondly the Kantian philosophy as the
foundation of Droysen’s Historik (von Humboldt being the link between them, as
Droysen noted himself), and thirdly the Aristotelian ethics with which Droysen
maintains a vivid dialogue. By examining these topics, we will establish the
fundamental elements of Droysen’s ethics – the particular be I (Ichsein), the
general Humankind I (Ich der Menschheit) and the acts of will (Willensakte) -
and their singular relations with historical experience and thought. Finally, we
will raise the question whether Droysen did design a modern political philosophy
by delimitating the cosmos of the ethical-historical world. As a conclusion we
will present Droysen’s Historik as a modern (historicist) ethics.

[en] Demoralizing reminders is an expression created by the artist to designate great abandoned housing areas as an explicit criticism to the architectural discourse and a denouncement of the fragility of the production system of the capitalist space. It is also the title of this work, which proposes a perusal of the buildings cuts made by the artist Gordon Matta-Clark (1943-1978) in the period between 1974 and 1978, based on his writings, letters, declarations, artcards, in
his interview, in photographs and films developing a trajectory of perusal that maps the constellations of his critical pulsation, whose way of operating is based in a vision of time as cyclical, of separation, preparation, consumption and new
sowings. The spectacularization produced by the critics treating his building cuts as products, objects that were finished, albeit ephemeral, while a new language developed by the artist obscured the specificity treated in each of them,
the relationships with the documentation, the performance, the context. The thesis Demoralizing reminders aims to analyze them through the discourse of the artist showing that there is a permanent displacement between idea, writing and gesture
in a process of continuous unfolding where the action of undoing promoted a permanent need to question the state of things, reminding us of the need to put everything in motion precisely when we feel comfortable.

[en] WHAT IS SKELETON OF A PROOF / [pt] O QUE É O ESQUELETO DE UMA DEMONSTRAÇÃOEDUARDO NAHUM OCHS 12 March 2004 (has links)
esqueleto da demonstração, e que ela é como uma projeção;
ser traduzidas para derivações em Pure Type Systems (PTSs);
traduzidas. / [en] Consider the following two kinds of transformation on
proofs; the first is to make a a proof more incomplete, by
erasing a lemma or a construction from it and replacing it
by a tag saying this is obvious; the second kind of
transformation takes a step that is proved by a this is
obvious tag, applies some kind of prof-search algorithm to
it, and replaces the tag by a real proof for that step. We
will consider that the first operation goes toward the
skeleton towards a more complete proof that had that
skeleton as a projection. We are only interested in
skeletons can be lifted back to full proofs using some
known algorithm. In this thesis we can describe a language -
DNC - that lets us prove several categorical facts using
skeletons. The method for lifting these skeletons goes like
this: from the name of a DNC term we can obtain its type;
by a kind of Curry-Howard isomorphism a such type can be
seen as a proposition in a certain logic; proof-search for
that proposition will obtain a proof-tree for it in a
certain system of Natural Deduction, and that proof-tree
can be read as a lambda-term of given type - the proof-tree
gives a natural construction for an object of the given
type, that very often is exactly the object that we were
looking for. Derivations in DNC can be translated into
derivations in a Pure Type System with Dictionaries (PTSD),
and derivations in PTSDs can be translated into derivations
in Pure Type Systems (PTSs); so questions about the proof-
theory of DNC become questions about the proof-theory of
PTSs, whose properties are quite well-known. Also, not only
we can lift names of terms in DNC to full proofs in
different settings; for example, some proofs that
apparently are happening over the category of sets can be
reinterpreted as proofs over an arbitrary topos. We use
that idea to give a simple presentation (in which the
omitted obvious steps are obvious in a very precise sense)
of the categorical semantics for some PTSs - and that
includes PTSs into which the DNC derivations are translated.

[en] THE OPEN FUTURE: JACOB BURCKHARDT, G.W.F. HEGEL AND THE PROBLEM OF HISTORICAL CONTINUITY / [pt] O FUTURO ABERTO: JACOB BURCKHARDT, G.W. F. HEGEL E O PROBLEMA DA CONTINUIDADE HISTÓRICAJANAINA PEREIRA DE OLIVEIRA 11 July 2007 (has links)
perda de validade do tradicional topos Historia Magistra
Vitae.
A tese toma o
[en] Modernity has in the idea of contingency one of its most
defining
attributes. This means that the traditional modes of
assign sense for things of the
world hesitate at modern age. One can say that this
situation occurs mainly in face
of the modification the idea of progress causes on the
apprehending modes of
historical temporality. Progress, as the quality of man´s
unlimited improvement,
removes to the infinite the theological horizon that until
then determined the
future. In this manner, at modernity, the future becomes
opened to
indetermination, a situation translated as the rupture of
the links that had kept
together past, present and future as it can be perceived
in the loss of validity of the
traditional topos Historia Magistra Vitae. This moment,
which is to the historian
Reinhart Koselleck equal to the definitive disagreement
between the categories
space of experience and horizon of expectation, has its
culmination in the French
Revolution. From the Revolution on, man is forced to find
out an alternative cast
of explanations for the events, capable to deal with the
temporal acceleration, with
the trasitoriness settled at a present more and more
ephemeral, with the
contingency. The dissertation takes the problem of
historical continuity as a
starting point to the reflection on the ways in which the
relation between future,
present and past occurred at the post-revolutionary
period, taking into
consideration the attribute of contingency that permeates
modern life. Therefore
we choose as objects for analysis and comparison two
perspectives about history:
the one elaborated by Jacob Burckhardt in his cultural
historiography; and that
formulated by G.W.F. Hegel on his philosophy of history.

[en] SHARING ECONOMY: ELEMENTS FOR AN ORGANIZATIONAL THEORY / [pt] ECONOMIA DE COMUNHÃO: ELEMENTOS PARA UMA TEORIA ORGANIZACIONALANA CLAUDIA MORRISSY MACHADO 12 March 2007 (has links)
organizacionais conhecimento e aprendizado, poder,
tema. / [en] The focus of this doctoral thesis is the Sharing Economy
Project - SEP,
that presents a different way of managing adopted by some
organizations that
congregates principles of efficiency, productivity and
profitability to a more
human way of managing people. This Project is still in the
beginning and its
results come from the organizations´ practices and not
from the use of some
theoretical basis, not yet developed. Thus, the objective
of this study is discussing
organizational foundations that can be useful for a future
SEP theory. In this
pursuit, the Social Doctrine of Catholic Church - that
establishes the SEP basis -
and the Project´s principles will be presented. After
this, some organizational
elements like knowledge and learning, power, leadership,
communication,
decision making and organizational change are discussed
and organizational
approaches that are closer to elements that distinguish
EdC organizations from
conventional ones are considered. Then, one will show what
an EdC enterprise
means showing some of its characteristics. To finish with,
the organizational
elements and the approaches will be compared to the SEP
principles in order to
point out the confluent points that can serve as an
initial basis for a theory
construction.

[en] AMERICAN LEGAL REALISM: A CONTRIBUTION TO LEGAL EDUCATION / [pt] REALISMO JURÍDICO NORTE-AMERICANO: UMA CONTRIBUIÇÃO PARA O ENSINO JURÍDICODANIEL BRANTES FERREIRA 18 November 2011 (has links)
norte-americanas. Para isto três autores serão abordados: Wesley N. Hohfeld,
Walter W. Cook e Karl N. Llewellyn.
Finalmente a conclusão demonstrará as
limitações do trabalho e suas principais contribuições. / [en] The thesis has as its main hypothesis the importance of American legal
realism to the development of American Law Schools and legal education. In
order to accomplish that, three authors will be faced: Wesley N. Hohfeld, Walter
W. Cook e Karl N. Llewellyn. The first chapter will bring an introduction about
the methodological issues of the present work. The second chapter will make a
historical digression on the American law so that the reader can understand in
which context American legal realism appeared. The third chapter will be about
Wesley N. Hohfeld and his importance to the appearance of American legal
realism and also his contribution to legal education. The fourth chapter will treat
Walter W. Cook’s theory and his failure in the John’s Hopkins Institute. The fifth
chapter will treat specifically about the appearance of the legal realism movement
through Karl N. Llewellyn articles and his law-jobs theory. Also, his criticism
about legal education at the time will be the core of this chapter. The sixth chapter
will demonstrate why American legal realism was not successful in its attempt
and why it didn’t last long. It also will demonstrate the important legacy left by
the movement. Finally, the conclusion will demonstrate the thesis’s limitations
and its main contributions.

[en] APPLICATIONS OF THE FIRST CONSISTENCY PROOF PRESENTED BY GENTZEN FOR PEANO ARITHMETIC / [pt] APLICAÇÕES DA PRIMEIRA PROVA DE CONSISTÊNCIA APRESENTADA POR GENTZEN PARA A ARITMÉTICA DE PEANOMARIA FERNANDA PALLARES COLOMAR 14 November 2003 (has links)
Heyting. / [en] In the antology of Gentzens works made by M.E.Szabo and
published in 1969, we find out in an appendix, some
passages presented by Bernays to the editor. These texts
belong to a first proof of Peanos Arithmetic consistency
that Gentzen did not publish. In a different way from the
other proofs of consistency made by Gentzen and already
known in the thirties, this proof does not use the
procedure of transfinite induction up to e0. On the
contrary, it is based on the definition of a reduction
process for sequents that is systematically associated to
every derivable sequent allowing us to recognize it as a
true sequent. We reconstructed this proof making some
variations and we studied how the main technique used (the
definition of the reduction process) could be seen in
relation with other results of first order logic like
proofs of completness. The main part of our dissertation is
another version of this consistency proof for a formal
system for Heyting Arithmetic.

século XIX no contexto alemão.
[de] In Anlehnung an die theoretischen Aspekten des Werkes des
deutschen Historikers Johann Gustav Droysen (1808-1886),
versucht die vorliegende Dissertation zu analysieren, was
heisst in Deutschland des 19.Jarhunderts historisch zu
denken.
interpretieren. Es geht also weniger um eine neue

jusnaturalismo e o positivismo jurídico no cenário contemporâneo.
[en] This works is a legal theory one. As the title suggests, its goal is to expose
some aspects of the opposition between natural law theory and legal positivism in
the contemporary scenario. It take as reference the reiterpretation of the natural
law theory by John Mitchell Finnis and his dialogue with the contemporary legal
positivism. Indeed, it does not pretend to demonstrate that the debate between the
two currents is definitely closed, but its purpose is to clarify concepts and attempt
to remove some misconceptions that permeate it.

[en] In Studies in scarlet: roads to the enigma, our aim is to
propose a dialogue between the Poesque detective story and
its elaborations and the subversion of the classical genre
by a contemporary form that reshapes the seeeming dead-end
racionality and its basic elements, such as the narrator,
the detective and his object of investigation, the enigma.
Throughout this dialogue the basic motivations and means
privileged in the search for solutions to the enigma are
paralleled to that of the cientist´s in his commitment to
the distinct modes of construction of knowledge.
