Co-Creating Sustainable Futures : Participatory Action Research as a Catalyst for Political Engagement / Medskapande av en hållbar framtid : Deltagande aktionsforskning som en katalysator för politiskt engagemangKnatz, Katharina January 2021 (has links)
This study is a participatory action research (PAR) project, which means that the study is conducted with participants as co-researchers who shape the process, instead of ‘study objects’. The project revolves around sustainability in a rural setting in central Germany, but the focus of this thesis is on the process rather than the content. While PAR literature is sensitive of participants’ perspectives and power dynamics, and tends to be self-reflective, there are only few studies that focus on the researcher’s perspective. On the other hand, literature presents the need for individual and real stories of researchers, that are not ‘beautified’ by the usual way of presentation in academic research. This study was conducted in the municipality of Bad Emstal by initiating a project on rural sustainability. The methods include semi-structured interviews (with 11 actors)and unstructured interviews, as well as the analysis of secondary data, two focus groups and a researcher diary. All data was analysed through a thematic analysis, and reflected on through feedback loops with participants. The analysis shows that due to many shared experiences, the perspectives of the researcher, participants and politicians overlap a lot in the rural context. Two themes influenced the role of the researcher in this study significantly: Age and the past, as well as the rural setting. Several learnings for researchers in similar contexts are formulated based on the data gathered throughout the project. They can be summarised in three responsibilities the researcher can take over to improve their work in PAR:1. Creating a space that is open for (re-)connecting with others and trying out new structures and topics.2. Setting boundaries for themselves and facilitating a clear definition and communication of boundaries for the project.3. Supporting the community in making their efforts visible and setting realistic goals that can be reached and celebrated. Thus, it is concluded that the researcher - while having an agenda themselves - can enact their role as a change agent by being in a position of support to the community they work in.

Hundstage - Badefreuden an der Langa in LotzdorfSchönfuß-Krause, Renate 01 July 2021 (has links)

Trade Mark Law and the Concept of Bad Faith : A fair balance between the protection of exclusive rights conferred on the proprietor and free access to the European market?Shipilina, Mariia January 2020 (has links)
The purpose of the research is the analysis of the concept of bad faith in the sphere of trade marks from the perspective of a fair balance of different interests of the trade mark proprietor and other undertakings in the European market. On the one hand, the starting point of European trade mark law is the protection of exclusive rights conferred on the owner of a registered mark. On the other hand, Article 16 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union guarantees the right to free access to the market. The research work analyses the scope of these conflicting rights and comes to the conclusion that the interests of trade mark law and market competition may have common ground despite different starting points between them. Bad faith behaviour in the market should also be assessed as an acute common issue. In that connection, the objective of the thesis is to examine how the balance of the interests is achieved in European trade mark legislation and in practice, whether this balance is fair when dealing with bad faith. Additionally, the thesis considers the issues of the definition of bad faith in European legislation and possible changes in the European trade mark system related to the concept of bad faith.

Internalized Shame as a Moderating Variable for Inhibited Sexual Difficulties in Adult Women Resulting From Childhood Sexual AbuseRobinson, Kristine 23 May 2006 (has links) (PDF)
An adult female sample of childhood sexual abuse survivors (N=467) were surveyed to determine whether internalized shame moderated the effects of sexual inhibited difficulties. Other variables such as severity, duration, and frequency of sexual abuse, as well as whether physical abuse was also part of their experience, were examined to determine their role in later sexual inhibition. It was predicted that there would be a significant positive relationship between 1) Scores on variables of physical abuse, severity of abuse, frequency of abuse, duration of abuse, identity of the perpetrator and scores on the variable of inhibited sexual difficulties; 2) Scores of internalized shame and scores of inhibited sexual difficulties and 3) Scores on variable of physical abuse, severity of abuse, frequency of abuse, duration of abuse, identity of the perpetrator and scores on the variables of internalized shame. Through Structural Equation Modeling using AMOS, the results indicated a statistically significant positive relationship between severity, frequency and inhibited sexual disturbances but found no direct relationship between physical abuse, the identity of the perpetrator, the duration of the abuse and inhibited sexual disturbances. Results also indicated that shame had a direct positive relationship to inhibited sexual disturbances. The third finding was that physical abuse and severity of abuse had a significant positive relationship with shame which implies that shame is a moderating variable for inhibited sexual disturbances in adult women survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Internalized shame may be an important factor for therapists to consider in helping survivors overcome sexual inhibition as a result of childhood sexual abuse. If a woman develops a shame-prone identity she may be at risk for experiencing inhibition in her sexuality.

Dirty Geometry : Searching for a queer architecture in Stockholm city / Dirty Geometry : Sökandet efter en queer arkitektur i Stockholm citySöderman, Viktoria January 2018 (has links)
For whom do we draw buildings? Why does contemporary architecture look the way it does? Why are certain aesthetics considered more valid than others? With this project, I propose Dirty Geometry: norm-bending design that could challenge conventions within the field of architecture. It is an investigation of concepts such as ugliness, beauty, architecture and the human body, interiority, femininity and ”bad taste”. The purpose is to, with the aid of parametric design processes, make Stockholm less boring and more dirty. Dirty Geometry is both the creative process sprung from one’s personal desires, and the resulting design. It aims to celebrate the weird, playful and colorful in an empowering way. This thesis project draws a lot of inspiration from camp aesthetics and drag culture, because of the way humour is used in a subversive way to question gender identities, power structures and norms.

Una Falsa Feminista : Sobre la protagonista en la novela Travesuras de la niña mala de Mario Vargas Llosa desde una perspectiva crítica falocéntrica / A False Feminist : About the protagonist in The Bad Girl by Mario Vargas Llosa, from a phallocentric critical perspectiveJohansson, Adina January 2023 (has links)
The present investigation analyses the characterization of the protagonist of the novel Travesuras de la niña mala by Mario Vargas Llosa (2006) through a phallocentric critique to determine if it is a feminist work or not. Particularly, the objective of the work is to analyse the description of the main character in relation to feminism and femininity, considering from which point of view the presentation is made. The research questions are: Could you classify Travesuras de la niña mala as a feminist work? How is Otilia's character described in relation to femininity? Is she a female character, feminist, both at the same time? The analysis is based on theories on feminism (Toril Moi 1989), phallocentric criticism (Kate Millet 1969), and on the concepts of femininity, the femme fatale and the male gaze (Laura Mulvey 1989). The research is carried out with a hermeneutic method where the reading of the corpus focuses on the present gender power structures. The findings of the analysis are that there is both an objectification and a feminization of the character. The characterization includes characteristics appealing to the masculine, but which are excused by the character's past. In addition, the analysis deduces that the character is described as dependent on a man both materially and emotionally. Consequently, the conclusion of the investigation is that the work cannot be said to be a feminist work.
