Quando o corpo pede um nome : a titulo provisorio / When the body demands a nome : a provisional one

Abstract: Not informed.

Clinical uses of the letter : from saying-well to knowing-how-to-read

Pasqual, Leander 19 January 2016 (has links)
Lacan introduced the concept of the letter in his teaching in order to define the direction ofthe analytic cure. In this perspective, the definition of the letter is essential forpsychoanalysis. Nonetheless, the definition of the letter changed throughout the course ofhis teaching and this change of perspective implies a new conception of the clinic. As such,in this work we propose to study the different clinical uses of the letter in Jacques Lacan'steaching. Initially, it involved a representative usage of the letter, one which implies theproduction of meaning effects. At this moment, the letter and the signifier areindistinguishable. This use of the letter permits one to define psychoanalysis as a practiceof saying-well. Secondly, it involves the letters use of jouissance, which implies theproduction of senseless jouissance. This time, Lacan successfully distinguishes betweenletter and signifier. This use of the letter permits one to define psychoanalysis as a practiceof knowing-how-to-read. As such, saying-well and knowing-how-to-read designate twomodalities for the usage of the letter. The objective of this investigation is thus that ofdemonstrating that psychoanalysis is a practice of the letter.

Film and letter poetics in Pier Paolo Pasolini’s, Danièle Huillet and Jean-Marie Straub’s, and Béla Tarr’s works

Marguet, Damien 23 May 2016 (has links)
During the preparation of The Gospel According to Matthew (1964), Pier Pasolini stated in a letter to theologian Lucio Caruso that he did not want to adapt the biblical text, but wished to “translate [it] faithfully into images”. To adapt a literary work onto the big screen usually consists in extracting out of it a “content” from which a script can then be developed. But Pasolini’s intent was to take us back to the text of the gospel, not to the story of Christ – hence his endeavour to translate the text’s poetry by means of cinema. The concept of translation invoked by Pasolini denotes a certain mode of relationship to a given work. Could this mode pertain to other films derived from written sources? This is what will be investigated in this thesis, by bringing together the experience of The Gospel According to Matthew and two other approaches: on the one hand, the works by Danièle Huillet and Jean-Marie Straub based on various texts; on the other hand, the relationship between Béla Tarr’s cinema and László Krasznahorkai’s writings. Through these processes emerges the idea of a possible alteration of the film’s form by the text. From the rule of translation, which underlies most of the theories of adaptation, we move to the rule of reprise and metamorphosis. I will also try to demonstrate that this concept of traduction can shed light on some aspects of the practice of filmmaking. The viewing of a film is a continuous enunciation where the language is being experienced. Therefore, to consider cinema as a translative space is to perceive it as a place where positions can be dealt anew and utterances reshaped. This translative poetics is actually a politics, and one which affects our conception of artistic creation.

Counter-monumentalism in the Search for American Identity in Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter & The Marble Faun

Mise, Carmen 30 June 2015 (has links)
This study examines the crisis of identity the United States was experiencing in the nineteenth-century through two of the major literary works of Nathaniel Hawthorne, The Scarlet Letter and The Marble Faun. Hawthorne, who lived through this crucial and important developmental period, was concerned as to what this identity would be, how the United States would shape and define itself, and what its future would be if this identity was malformed. In addition, this study will look at counter-monuments as argued by James E. Young in his essay “The Counter-Monument: Memory against Itself in Germany Today” to expand on these issues of identity. If according to Young, the ideal goal of the counter-monument is “not to remain fixed but to change,” one can conclude that Hawthorne understood that national identity must be fluid; otherwise, the nation would crumble under the pressure and force of change.

Dokumentární platební styk / Documentary system of payments

Formanová, Lenka January 2008 (has links)
This thesis describes the contract of purchase and kinds of terms of payment with regard to the moment of the settlement of the purchase price. The main subject of the thesis is especially the documentary system of payments. The thesis characterizes the documentary letter of credit and the documentary collection as two of the most considerable payment and custodial banking instruments in an international trade. It deals with advantages and disadvantages of their using, their main principles, relations between participants in documentary transactions and with a description of the whole process of operations with these documentary instruments. Further there are captured individual kinds of documentary letter of credits and documentary collections in the thesis. The thesis also deals with a comparison of the documentary letter of credit and the documentary collection from standpoints of advantages and disadvantages, which these instruments may bring to both parties of the contract of purchase. To complete general questions the thesis also deals with documents, that are used by documentary payments. In conclusion, the thesis outlines the current development in the field of the documentary system of payments.

Traitements visuels précoces du langage écrit : études chez l'enfant et l'adulte jeune / Early visual processes in written language : studies in children and young adults

Vahine, Théodora 15 December 2017 (has links)
The main objective was to study the implication of the magnocellular and the parvocellular visual systems in written language processing, specifically in word identification. Four studies were carried out to document the respective roles of these two systems, for different components of the written word structure, the letter (Study 1), the word length (Study 2), the word shape (Study 3) and the orthographic neighborhood (Study 4). The dissociation of the two visual systems was based on their specific functional characteristics: sensitivity to low spatial frequencies and luminance contrast for the magnocellular system; and sensitivity to medium and high spatial frequencies and chromatic contrast for the parvocellular system. The participants were young adult normal readers and 10-11 years-old children, novice readers, in order to consider the involvement of each visual system at two stages of their development: mature in young adults while still maturing in the children. The results confirmed the prominent role of parvocellular processing, which was consistent with the privilege accorded to the processing of letters and letters features in visual word recognition. On the other hand, word length processing has been shown to be a selectively magnocellular dimension. All results are discussed in the framework of the coarse-to-fine approach.

Graphický znak v prostředí školy a města / Graphical sign in the context of school and town

Novotná, Monika January 2014 (has links)
NOVOTNÁ, Monika. Graphic sign in context of school and town. Prague, 2014.Thesis. Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Education, Department of Fine Arts. Supervisor Mgr. Helena Kafková, 90 pages. In the theoretical part I focus on a sign, the graphical sing. I sort out its forms. I present the sing as a nonverbal system of communication and a way of labelling objects. I search for the connections and contradictions of the existence of legal [traffic signs, orientation signs, signboards] and illegal graphic signs [graffiti and street art] in the public space. In the didactic part I suggest and realize the art projects where some technics of graffiti and street art are used. The artistic themes: SING - LETTER - PICTOGRAM - PUBLIC SPACE are processed at my art lessons at both primary and secondary schools. We discuss the meaning of these words in the public space. The part of the thesis is a research study among the pupils of a primary and secondary school which tries to point at either different or the same art perceptions by the pupils and their mental constructions of these. There I try to connect the street art and graffiti with the topics of private property, vandalism and personal attitudes versus the state and society. I offer to the children the question of personal freedom of an...

The letters of Casa Ricordi

Rebulla, Patrizia, Ledda, Pierluigi, Müller, Helen 03 December 2019 (has links)
The Archivio Storico Ricordi holds the historical records of one of the most important music publisher of all times. For almost two hundred years, beyond their main business as music publishers, the Ricordis were also impresarios, agents, and cultural organisers, and played a central and unique mediating role within Italian musical life. This role is very well documented by some 30,000 autograph letters addressed to Casa Ricordi by composers, writers, librettists, singers, and conductors, and an impressive and neatly ordered collection of around 600,000 sent letters. The whole collection will be published online bit by bit. The goal of the project is to connect the letters not only with the relevant records of the Ricordi archive (ledgers, contracts, stage designs, scores, pictures...), but also with other music archives over the web.

Liebau, Cornelia January 2019 (has links)
This study explores women´s experiences when receiving their HPV-positive pap smear result as a letter. The Swedish screening programme for the prevention of cervical cancer notifies of the result in a short, standardised letter. After including human papilloma virus (HPV) in the analysis in 2014 women appeared to become more worried about the result showing a sexually transmitted infection (STI). An interview study was performed with eight women and the empirical data was analysed with reception theory. The study-results show which feelings women struggled with, whether they experienced a negative impact on their sexuality, and whether they were content with a letter as communication method for their results. Ignorance of HPV and fear of cancer were central findings. Women even described a change in attitude towards sexual practices other than vaginal intercourse. The result letter was considered to be too short and not as informative as needed. This caused all the women to look for more information foremost on the internet in order to find answers to their questions. In conclusion there is a need for thorough and structured information related to HPV and impact on the cervix. Healthcare system personnel should have a sensitive ear for women´s concerns about their pap smear results.
