"Vi har jobbat med en liknande struktur" : En kvalitativ intervjustudie om planering av läsundervisning och samarbete mellan förskoleklass och årskurs 1. / ”We have worked with a similar structure” : A qualitative interview study on planning reading lessons and the collaboration between preschool class and first grade.

Wallgren, Olivia January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to investigate which teaching methods are used in the early reading education in preschool class and first grade and how the teachers experience the collaboration between these two grades. Qualitative interviews were conducted with eight teachers who work, or have worked, in preschool class and/or year 1. The result from the study shows that the reading education that takes place in preschool class and first grade has similar content and is also partly similar in terms of choice of working methods. The main difference between reading instructions in preschool class in contrast to first grade is that the preschool class teachers more clearly highlight the role of play in teaching. The results also show that there is no evident collaboration around how to organize the reading education. On the other hand, there is a collaboration in the form of handover meetings during transitioning from preschool class to first grade. In these meetings students' knowledge is discussed so that the teachers in year 1 can plan a reading education based on the student's proximal development zone.

Zu den Buchstabennamen auf dem Halaḥam- Ostrakon aus TT 99 (Grab des Sennefri)

Fischer-Elfert, Hans-W., Krebernik, Manfred 02 February 2023 (has links)
The topic of this contribution is a hieratic ostracon published recently by Ben Haring which allegedly contains a list of words arranged according to the south Semitic sequence of letters. His hypothesis can be confirmed and some of the words can be identified as Semitic. In addition to we suggest that the words are intended as letter names which, however, did not become canonical over time.

A data template for analysing student outcomes for the BI & DS programmes at Dalarna University

Sennik, Nikhil, Borst, Nick January 2022 (has links)
Dalarna University aspires to improve the student admittance process as it strives to ensure efficient use of public funds. The aim of Dalarna University in the student admittance process is to admit candidates that are likely to be successful in their studies. There have been two selection procedures for the Business Intelligence and Data Science programmes: the default procedure, which selects from all eligible candidates randomly, and the motivation letter procedure in which the university bases their selection on a motivation letter that each eligible candidate must provide. it is of interest whether the motivation letter procedure outperforms the default procedure as a selection instrument. For that, it is needed to analyse student data. Student data is stored in foremost two national databases: NyaWebben and Ladok. These databases are not conducive for analysis. The main objective of this researchis to create a data template that can store data from these systems and can also be used to analyse student data in order to evaluate the performances of the selection instruments. To demonstrate the usability of the data template, we formulated two demonstration questions that relate to the performance of the selection instruments that we tentatively tried to answer: 1) Do the motivation letter intakes show a higher degree completion rate and strength of degree completion than the default intakes? 2) How do the assigned motivation letter scores relate to degree completion rate and strength of degree completion? Firstly, we identified which variables were to be extracted from NyaWebben and Ladok and established what KPIs would serve as the working indicators used to analyse the performances of the selection instruments. From a literature review, we deduced that degree completion and strength of degree completion were the KPIs that considered the overarching perspectives of universities, students, the labourmarket, and the government on what constitutes a favourable educational outcome. After that, we employed a manual extraction method to store the data in a spreadsheet; our data template of choice. We then build multiple interfaces and automation procedures for increased efficiency and ease of use. The data template was made analysis-ready through data cleaning, categorisation, and formatting of the data. We furthermore conducted a usability test to assess the ease of use of our data template and the results were positive. We learned that there are still too few data points because of an insufficiently long follow-up time, even when considering only first semester completion, to conclusively answer the demonstration questions and that our results were not statistically significant. The demonstration questions can therefore only be answered in time once more student intakes are added to the data template. However, we found that the implications of the data template are manyfold, since we considered a wide range of variables, including those outside the scope of the demonstration questions, that are ready to be analysed via our data template.

Salem Belles, Succubi, and The Scarlet Letter: Transatlantic Witchcraft and Gothic Erotic Affect

Cutler, Sylvia 01 August 2019 (has links)
In order to reconcile the absence of sexually deviant witch figures (succubae, demonic women, etc.) within the formation of American national literature in the nineteenth century with the fantastic elements found in European variations on the gothic, my thesis aims to demonstrate transatlantic variants of erotic signifiers attached to witch figures in nineteenth-century gothic fiction and mediums across national traditions. I will begin by tracing the transatlantic and historical impact of Heinrich Kramer and Jacob Sprenger’s Malleus Maleficarum—an early modern handbook of sorts used widely in witchcraft inquisitions—on Early American witch trials, specifically where its influence deviates from a sexualized conception of the witch and where a different prosopography of the historical witch emerges. Next, I will assess a short sample of nineteenth-century American pulp fiction to demonstrate the historical impact of America’s erotically decoded witch type on fictionalized versions or caricatures of the witch. In doing so I hope to create a reading that informs a more transatlantically complex representation of The Scarlet Letter. Finally, in order to underscore the significance of these national and historical departures of The Scarlet Letter as a gothic novel, I will contrast Hawthorne’s novel with a selective reading of nineteenth-century gothic texts from England and France that employ the witch or demonic feminine motif in an erotically codified and fantastic setting, namely using Old World magic and history that draws from French and English traditions. To demonstrate the significance of erotically coded witches in the British tradition, I will briefly examine Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s “Christabel” as a gothic text that relies heavily on the erotic affect encoded in the figure of Geraldine. I will also touch on Prosper Mérimée’s “La Vénus d’Ille” and Théophile Gautier’s “La Morte Amoreuse,” two remarkable short stories that highlight the sublime terror of sexually deviant, occult female figures. Through such a collection of readings of witches and erotic, occult women I hope to amplify a more latent theme underlying The Scarlet Letter and America’s conflicted relationship with the gothic tradition: namely its crucial lack of erotic enchantment as a channel for the experience of gothic affect, the fantastic, and even sublime terror.

The Middle Assyrian Letter Order VS 1, 105 (VAT 5385)

de Ridder, Jacon Jan, Zomer, Elyze 25 January 2023 (has links)
In this study, a new edition is provided of the Middle Assyrian tablet VAT 5385, which was published in the first volume of the series “Vorderasiatische Schriftdenkmäler” as no. 105. The tablet has been identified from the start as a letter, although the obverse and reverse were displaced. Additionally, the previous copy in VS 1, 105 misses out one line completely, while a full edition of the text has never been presented. Following our revised edition of the tablet, VS 1, 105 is a letter order, written by a high official to his subordinates, ordering them to bring barley from the otherwise unknown geographical places of Ḫirdiš and Sammalūnu. While the archaeological context and the addressee, as well as the recipients of the letter, are not preserved, an attempt is made to connect the tablet to the individual Adad-šar-nišē, who is mentioned on two occasions in the text.
