Alcance e apreensão de objetos em lactentes com síndrome de Down : impacto da interação organismoambiente / Reaching and grasping skills in Down syndrome infants: impact of organism-environment fit

Campos, Ana Carolina de 04 March 2009 (has links)

This interaction is evidenced in studies identifying the impact of intrinsic and extrinsic factors on functional skills such as reaching and grasping objects. Thus, Study 1 was conducted in order to review the research on factors influencing reaching and grasping in infants at risk for developmental delays. The review has shown that few studies have aimed to understand the development of actions performed by Down syndrome (DS) infants, and also that there is a lack of information about these infants abilities to adjust their intrinsic properties to environmental demands. Consequently, two studies have been carried out. Study 2 aimed to describe the kinematic characteristics of reaching movements in 4-6-month-old DS infants and to test the influence of intrinsic factors, namely Down syndrome and gross motor skill level, on reaching and grasping behaviors. Seven infants with DS and seven infants with typical development (TD) were assessed at 4, 5 and 6 months-old. Gross motor skill was assessed by using Alberta Infant Motor Scale (AIMS). Infants were placed in a baby chair reclined 50º from the horizontal. A soft object (12.5 cm in diameter) was presented at infant s midline, shoulders height, and arm s length. The following variables were analyzed: straightness index (SI), mean velocity, movement units, deceleration time and grasping frequency. DS infants demonstrate variability in the age of reaching acquisition. The DS and the level of gross motor skills were found to influence grasping frequency. Faced with a task that did not impose excessive demand, kinematic characteristics of reaching in DS infants were quite similar to typical infants, except for the number of movement units at 5 months, which was higher for DS infants, and for SI at 6 months, which was lower for these infants. On the other hand, grasping frequency was lower for DS infants. In order to understand DS infants ability to reach for and grasp objects of different sizes, Study 3 was carried out. Grasping and kinematic characteristics of reaches performed by the same infants for large and small objects were analyzed. These reaches were recorded during the same experimental procedure of Study 2. The object size has induced kinematic changes in reaches performed by DS infants, what suggests that they are exploring strategies to move. The adoption of variable movement strategies suggests perception of affordances of the objects. Nevertheless, DS infants failed to grasp the object, which may indicate that they need more experience in the task in order to adapt their actions to their intrinsic constraints. The results of this study point to the importance of considering the individual variability and the confluence of multiple factors in the development of reaching and grasping, since the organismic conditions in interaction with the task demands, were found to influence reaching and grasping performance.

: en undersökning av hur samhällets digitalisering framställs i Biblioteksbladet 2012–2016 / Interested in Digitalization? : a Survey of how the Digitalization of the Society is Reproduced in Biblioteksbladet 2012–2016

Ash, Iris January 2018 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to examine how interested the library sector is in digitalization. In an attempt to study this, I have studied the articles in Biblioteksbladet from 2012–2016. My starting point was that digitalization affects the Swedish libraries and that the subject therefore would have a prominent role in the library magazine. The aim of this thesis is also to generate knowledge about how digitalization affects the retail sector and the library sector to visualize similarities and differences between how operators from private and public sector are affected. Three text analytical surveys were conducted: a survey inspired by quantitative content analysis, a survey inspired by qualitative content analysis and a qualitative comparative survey. The agenda-setting theory was used as an analytic tool to analyze the interest in digitalization. Theories from the business field and previous research were used in order to compare how digitalization affects the retail sector and the library sector. The results of this thesis show that about eight per cent of the articles in the magazine from 2012–2016 is about digitalization. The subject is mentioned in all of the studied magazines except one. This shows that digitalization is treated to a considerable extent in Biblioteksbladet, which is in line with my hypothesis. My study also shows that digitalization is presented as a challenge to the libraries in the majority of the articles. This means that digitalization tends to be evaluated negatively in the material. It proved to be difficult to draw clear conclusions about the library sector’s interest in digitalization using these methods. The interest that appears in Biblioteksbladet doesn’t necessarily reflect the rest of the library sector’s interest. Another result is that there are several similarities between how digitalization affects the retail sector and the library sector. This is a two years master’s thesis in Library and Information Science.

Almeida, Ana Paula Santos de 20 March 2017 (has links)
Submitted by Ana Guimarães Pereira (agpereir@ucs.br) on 2017-08-18T12:14:21Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Dissertacao Ana Paula Santos de Almeida.pdf: 4217677 bytes, checksum: f228c456616bb890f4b8953e8b41e93b (MD5) / Made available in DSpace on 2017-08-18T12:14:21Z (GMT). For the development of this research, the Patrimonial Education Project "Discovering the value of things around me" was built and developed from a series of activities based on the methodology of heritage literacy, with a group of the ninth year of the Municipal School of Elementary School Guerino Zugno, located in the district Planalto II, a peripheral district of the city of Caxias do Sul-RS. For the analysis of the results obtained, during the application of the workshops that integrate the project, support was sought in theoretical elements about heritage and memory, relating them to heritage education and its interconnection with the construction of identity and the strengthening of Citizenship, as well as the formation of large cities as spaces of constant transformation, but which bring in their patrimony elements of identity. To this end, I bring to the discussion the expansion of the topic of heritage education in schools, based on initiatives in conjunction with universities, fostering the approximation of academia and communities. The product derived from the research is found in a Notebook of Memories that exposes the course of the Project "Discovering the value of things around me".

Målbeskrivning eller självbild? : Bilden av eleven bakom kursplanens mål i svenska i grundskolans senare år / Description of Aims or Self Image? : The image of the pupil behind the description of aims for the Swedish language in compulsory school

Windestål, Malin January 2009 (has links)
The purpose with this essay is to find out which demands the syllabus for the Swedish language make on the pupils in compulsory school compared to some active teachers’ point of view. The method I have used to find out is a qualitative interview, where I have interviewed four Swedish teachers of various professional experiences. After the change of government in 1991, the new curriculum committee had a mission where the goal was to develop the best school in Europe. A national target was introduced and the goals were proposed to be of two kinds; goals to strive for and goals to achieve. A problem in this is that the knowledge that pupils in ninth grade will acquire, is formulated in such a manner so that not even experts in each subject would live up to the demands placed on the students. It is in many cases the teachers' task to break down these goals and present them in a simplified way so that the students can achieve the objectives that are set on them and nowhere in the goalsetting takes no account of the fact that many students go through a major change in their lives, namely puberty.

This research is about ethics and morality. Its aim is the investigation of the existence of life projects in adolescents identifying someone else s place in these projects. The projects mentioned were analyzed by the participants spontaneously. There were 24 adolescents from 15 to 20 years old divided by genre and social class. Semi- structured interviews were done using the clinic method proposed by Piaget (1926-s.d.; 1932/1994). The results prove that all of the adolescents have projects in life. Amongst the main results 87 aims divided into 5 categories were identified: 1) Properties 2) Relationships 3) Career 4) Academical Improvement 5) Other projects. Each justification of the reasons why these projects were mentioned was considered as Connected or Disconnected, terms that name the relation between the existence in another project in life. Connected projects are the ones which included other people, groups or institutions as protagonists. On the other hand, those that did not considered the existence of other people, groups or institutions were considered Disconnected. Out of 87 project justifications, 52% were Connected and 48% were Disconnected. The existence of life projects considered as Connected and Disconnected could means that moral and ethic values that allows social life are part of some projects in life for the adolescents, but not all of them

Toward a Humane Computerization of Society: The Role of Higher Education

Collins, Kenneth Dan 12 1900 (has links)
This heuristic and inductive study proposes a philosophy and models for a humanizing role for higher education in the computer age. The university's traditional role stands the risk of serious erosion through increasing emphasis on technological programs, particularly in the computer areas. The pressures from inside and outside the university threaten to produce increasing numbers of what have been termed "highly educated barbarians." Because computerization offers to be a pervasive and widely-felt influence on society, the university must see that its graduates—both the producers and the consumers of computerization—become humane, liberally educated persons; they must have technical excellence and also an understanding of the "system Man." The study calls for an enhanced new curriculum fostering a "new mind" for the computer age, encompassing quality of both technique and humanity in its students.
