Rey de Castro Luna, Valeria 27 June 2011 (has links)

Ríos Baeza, Felipe Adrián 03 August 2011 (has links)
This investigation affirms that the axis of the ethical-aesthetical proposal of the Chilean writer Roberto Bolaño (1953-2003) constitutes a particular notion of “margin”. This margin will not only act in his narrative with the stationary objective of recognizing a limit that separates an interior from an exterior (a "frame" in which we can define where a fenomenological reality begins and ends); that margin will also tend, due to its particular and dynamic characteristics, to open gradually or destroy itself violently, mixing interior and exterior, center and periphery in the same space. In his narrative, Roberto Bolaño seems to situate his topics and characters in the “edges” (both, argumentative and ideological) and, from those ends, question the material which could become literature. Situated in this complex “border”, Bolaño will try to introduce a series of “marginal” speeches and narrative tools where the binary interior/exterior system (assuming it as a variant of center/periphery) will be dismantled. Thus, this work proposes to study in detail that notion of “margin”, where the literary space seems to absorb characters and topics considered “anti-canonical” to reproduce a “textuality” in constant dynamism.

Roberto Bolaño: aproximações à tradição literária do apócrifo / Roberto Bolaño: approximations to the literary tradition of the apocryphal

This essay analyzes some dialogues between Roberto Bolaño´s La literatura nazi en América and the literary tradition of the apocryphal. To do so, we selected a line of apocryphal writings that relate the factual with fiction and memory to shape a narrative made out of reading experiences, imagination and the dissolution of some rigid concepts of Biography and History. From this perspective, we start rescuing in a panoramic way a lineage of works that constitutes a literary family inside a wider tradition: Vidas Imaginarias, by Marcel Schwob; Retratos reales e imaginarios, by Alfonso Reyes; Historia universal de la infamia, by Jorge Luís Borges; and La sinagoga de los Iconoclastas, by Rodolfo Wilcock. Then, we proceed selecting Jorge Luis Borges´s work, for a more detailed study. Starting with the reorganization of forms borrowed from the literary tradition, Bolaño develops writing procedures that are improved in his whole works, strengthening the dialogue between his precursors and his own work configured as the result of a continuous exercise of revision and rewritings.

De um lugar a outro via 2666 / From one place to another via 2666

Ruggieri, Mariana Peceguini 01 July 2013 (has links)
This study aims to investigate the destabilizing of rigid categories such as the place and the subject through travel, understood here as displacement. The trip enables different manners of being in space that reorganize these categories and their relations, questioning the possibility of enunciation as the seam between subject and place. Through an encounter with Roberto Bolaños novel 2666, this dissertation follows the specters of these fissures from multiple viewpoints. First it investigates the place from which one speaks of place in literary and language studies and the violence ingrained in the desire to allocate a thing to its own place. Translation, as a subversive element of the physical axiom two bodies cannot occupy the same place at the same time, is explored within the scope of Babel, in which linguistic confusion is exerted as the impossibility of a fully analytical language. Then, the concept of travel is sought as that which leaves a place, bound for others, and decomposes, via displacement, cohesiveness, operating a movement of opening towards the unknown and reorganizing previously established configurations. However, this apparent emancipation quickly brings about condemnation, its intimate double, understood here as the possibility to enunciate from a dissociated I, open to the other that exists in the I.

A coragem da literatura: ética e estética em Los detectives salvajes, de Roberto Bolaño / The literatures courage: ethics and aesthetics in Los detectives salvajes, by Roberto Bolaño

Nicolette, Ana Patrícia 18 March 2016 (has links)
This paper analyzes the work of chilean writer Roberto Bolaño (1953-2003) from the perspective of courage, envisioned as a remarkable feature of his characters and considered by the author as a requirement for a writing with quality, which supposes the proximity between art and a kind of abyss. At first, we wonder about what would be the dangers that, according to Bolaño, surround literature and require a courageous performance. Novels such as Amuleto and Estrella distante, the tale El Ojo Silva and the critical interventions of Bolaño, can be used as examples of that kind of performance. Subsequently, we focus on the work Los detectives salvajes, which incorporates narrative procedures and canons - such as the vanguards and neovanguards - considered courageous due to their formal innovation, the criticism of institutions and the formulation of an aesthetic that is interlaced with a kind of ethic. In that case, we find out that the author had diagnosed the loss of space for these courageous procedures in contemporary literature scene, marked by the abandon of utopias and the demands of the literature market. We can also observe that his work is heading towards the elaboration of a possible ethics in this new context, which will be stamped by the refusal of stability, translated into geographical and linguistic displacement.

La littérature de l’éclatement ou l’utopie de la totalité au tournant du XXIème siècle : 2066 de Roberto Bolaño, Flores de Mario Bellatin et Vidas perpendiculares d’Álvaro Enrigue / Fragmented literature or the utopia of totality in the late 90' and at the beginning of the XXIth century : Roberto Bolaño's 2666, Mario Bellatin's Flores, Álvaro Enrigue's Vidas perpendiculares

Cotteaux, Iris 15 November 2014 (has links)
A turning point was apparent from the end of the twentieth century in Latin-American literature, after a few uncompleted attempts to search for “totality” through the literary movement of the Latin-American boom of the ‘60s.Then, a new postmodern literature developed, opposed to the “utopian” objectives of the boom (such as the “total novel”, which embraced all the genres, proposed exhilarated eroticism, a metafictional reflection and a political commitment). The writers born in the ‘50s took over new processes which aimed for “dislocate” literature. Among these processes figure numerous narrative voices, parallel universes, generic hybridity, a “cinematic” (visual and sonorous), fragmented writing, scattered with flashbacks and flash-forwards.In order to analyze the limits of literary totality –more accurately, novelistic totality– and to define this postmodern “dislocated”, “antitotal” writing, I focused on three works which cover the years 1995-2010, published by Spanish-American writers from diverse countries (even though they belong to the same postmodern or postnational generation), being spread through a proper aesthetics, but sprinkled with communal characters, reflection on literature and atmosphere/tone.Mario Bellatin's fragmentary, short and polyphonic novel Flores (2004) relates many criss-crossed stories, in an indeterminate and claustrophobic space, in which characters are come down to their “body”.Vidas perpendiculares (2008), by the Mexican Álvaro Enrigue, uses the same strategy as a “puzzle”, as stories' fragmentation and simultaneity. Here, the narrator recounts five love stories which left a mark on the life of one character, Jerónimo, in the form of successive “reincarnations”, on an ironic and pleasant tone.As for the long (anti)total and apocalyptic novel of the Chilean Roberto Bolaño, 2666 (2004), it evokes the destiny of many characters –most of them related to the literary world– in the fictional city of Santa Teresa (Ciudad Juárez). The Mexican Jorge Volpi entitled one of his most polemical article ”La literatura latinoamericana ya no existe”, but the fact that literature disintegrates itself, breaks with the codes that defined itself, plays with them and/or reinvents them, isn't it after all a form of literature (and not of lack of literature), such as the form of splitting, dislocation? It is precisely this new aesthetics that tries to find itself, in pursuit of identity, that constitutes, according to me, a major interest. And even more in an intervening period (between two different centuries, generations, worlds). To deal with these aspects of contemporary Latin-American literature in depth, I will principally focus on four angles of the aesthetics elaborated by the writers of my corpus : I will define first the concepts of totality, unity, modernity and postmodernity, essential to any later reflection ; then, I will examine the structure both totalizing and distotalizing of Bolaño, Bellatin and Enrigue's work ; and finally, I will be interested in the paradoxical and dichotomous nature of postmodern Latin-American literature, always through the prism of the three authors. This is only thanks to a comparative, theoretical and analytical study that I could try to provide the literary criticism field with other approaches. Therefore, I will attempt to determine contemporary, postmodern literature's (differential and similar) features, to underline its intents, limits and contradictions, while I will take a political, social, cultural, economic context each time more (omni)present.

Espinosa H., Patricia 12 April 2018 (has links)
The present article will address chapter II “The savage detectives (1976- 1996)”, which introduces fifty-four characters that give testimony regarding poets Arturo Belano and Ulises Lima. The absence of these poets is what allows for them to be present in each one of the testifying subjects’ memory. The narration, then, constructs a place of memory for Belano and Lima to inhabit, generating in this way a violent interruption that constitutes a rejection of the traditional novel format since it relocates its fundamental elements, namely, the protagonist and the narrator. This chapter can, therefore, be interpreted as a center that denies the concept of center by presenting itself as the very occurrence of that which remainson the run.
