Concept for battery change : Mining vehiclesÖrvill, Andreas January 2018 (has links)
Epiroc Rock Drills AB in Örebro manufactures and develops machinery for the infrastructure required to maintain a fully operational mining industry, such as ventilation, drilling rigs, trucks and loaders etc. In these environmentally conscious times, a large market focus forzero emission machines has begun to emerge. By replacing today'sinternal combustion engines, mining companies can save large sums of money in ventilation costs and fuel while creating a more pleasant working environment in the mines. Due to these rapidly changing needs, Epiroc's machines must also change in design and performance. Epiroc has thus chosen to use interchangeable batteries in their new generation of mining machines. When the battery is discharged, it must be easy to replace with a fullycharged one. From an economic point of view, it is also important that the machine is always in production without any stops, making fast and efficient battery switches desirable. At present, the battery change is usually done with a mono-rail crane down the mine. This has proved to be very difficult and ineffective as the battery is too often jammed into the machine due to the fact that the machine is poorly positioned against the crane. Ceiling heightis also a problem, preferably one should have about 6-7 meters to accomplish a safe lift with the crane, which is not always possible down in a mine. In order to find a more long-term solution to this problem, this degree project took its start. During the course of the process, a number of methods in product development and concept generation have been used to develop different concepts and screen them based on the needs identified at the beginning of the work. The main problem was divided into four sub problems to facilitate conceptgeneration, the most promising sub concepts were visualized using CAD and then put together in different combinations. These combinations were then evaluated against today's solution to easily see what concept should be further developed. This resulted in a concept that consists of a separate platform, which can either be placed on a vehicle or as a stand-alone station. On this platform there are two telescopic arms, one on each side. These arms lifts the three ton heavy battery from the mining machine in an arcuate motion over a charged battery on the platform, placing it in a designated location and then lifts the charged battery into the machine. With this concept, it is also possible to accomplish a safe change with a limited ceiling height of approximately 3.5-4 meters, which is an improvement compared to today's solution.

This research investigates the design process in architecture and how it came to be influenced in the past few years by digital tools which emerged since then. It seeks to establish a vision about the architecture design methods by questioning the existence of a new paradigm. Thereunto it analyzes the Brazilian academic production of the past few years which explored or developed theories about the use of digital tools in order to establish a starting point. Through literature, it exposes a vision and a defense of a way of designing and how digital tools can assist this process without creating distortions of its use. Finally, the text contrasts two types of architecture: the silent, sober architecture, which seeks to adapt to the city and as well support the passage of time and changes of its uses, and the "digitalist" architecture, focused on the "unusual", which turns to the possibility of the media exploitation of the building and the many problems it brings to users and society.

Utvärdering av en ny metod för utredning av stabil kranskärlssjukdom baserad på akustisk fonokardiografi / Evaluation of a new method for the investigation of stable coronary artery disease using acoustic phonocardiographyKurashova, Elena January 2018 (has links)
Coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the most common cardiovascular diseases and one of the dominant causes of death in older people worldwide. In order to confirm diagnosis and assess the severity of the disease, several diagnostic strategies are being used today. Increased health costs and long queues for investigations raise concerns among patients, medical doctors and authorities. A simple, safe and cost-effective method that can assist in the investigation of CAD is of major importance. The Danish company Acarix developed a new device, CADScor® system, which uses a non-invasive and radiation-free method to exclude stable CAD based on acoustic phonocardiography. The device records intracoronary murmurs, resulting from coronary stenosis, and calculates the patient's risk of CAD. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the method, test CADScor® and calculate the device's sensitivity, specificity and positive and negative predictive value (PPV and NPV). Twenty patients with suspected stable CAD were examined with CADScor® systems, and their CAD results were compared to the result after myocardial perfusion scan. Calculations showed that the device's sensitivity is 80 %, specificity 60 %, PPV 40 % and NPV 90 %. The result means that the probability is 90 % that a patient who has a CAD score ≤ 20 is healthy. It is high enough to use CADScor® in clinical practice for patients with low risk for CAD.

Gerente de configurações para o ambiente STAR / Configuration manager to STAR frameworkRibeiro, Helena Grazziotin January 1993 (has links)
This work presents the mechanisms for configuration management in the STAR framework. STAR is an electronic design automation framework, under development at the University of Rio Grande do Sul in cooperation with the IBM Rio Scientific Center at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The design objects supported are complex systems and they are represented through a hierarchical data model. Versions are used to express the evolution process of design objects. The version management mechanism developed is strongly related with the data representation, and it supports the different dimensions of versions: views, alternatives and revisions. The use of versions associated with composite objects allows the existence of many possibilities of description for the same complex system, as a consequence of different versions combination. When submitting a design object to a design tool, like a simulator, it is necessary to select versions for components in order to obtain a single object description, called the object configuration. A configuration manager offers resources, as manipulation and query on design objects in the framework, to make version selection in configuration construction easy and fast. STAR configurations are established through component reference attributes or through a configuration object definition. The configuration management mechanism developed for the STAR framework in this work supports static, dynamic and open configurations. They are established in a manual, automatic or semi-automatic way. In the manual way, the user is responsible for choosing the selected versions. In the automatic way, it is possible to choose between the current version and the most recent version, which are pre-defined criteria. The user can define and use configuration expressions in a semi-automatic way. These expressions make the version selection objective, due to use of objects attributes, representing objects characteristics in the expression. The use of configuration expressions allows the selection of versions with specific characteristics. A language is available for the definition of configuration expressions. The possibility to store configurations is provided. Configurations may be reused in another time and by other objects. The possibility to store configurations allows them remain either dynamic or open, even if the choose of versions to complement them had been done. To make this possible, configuration objects are integrated in the data model. Operations on configuration objects are: create, update, copy, delete, query and select. These operations are the basis of the configuration process.

APLICAÇÃO DA META-HEURÍSTICA GRASP PARA O PROBLEMA DE CORTE DE ESTOQUE BIDIMENSIONAL ATRAVÉS DE APLICATIVOS CADBianco, Clicéres Mack Dal 09 August 2010 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The PCE (Cutting Stock Problem) is to cut a set of objects available in stock to produce a
quantity of items with specific sizes in order to optimize the raw material. Such problems have
numerous industrial applications and has been widely studied in literature. The PCE's are
classified as combinatorial optimization problems, because depending on the amount of requested
items can be combined in numerous ways within an object forming an arrangement of cut. The
number of possible combinations is, in practice, very high, requiring well-developed techniques
are developed to determine an optimum arrangement. In defining the arrangements of cut is
needed to graph the components of the problem and in this case, the tools used in the
implementation must have the ability to manipulate geometric. In this paper, the combinatorial
problem was approached from the GRASP heuristic technique and as a tool of manipulation was
employed geometric applications deployed in an environment of Computer Aided Design (CAD).
Furthermore, we proposed an integration of arrays of cutting systems with computer-aided
manufacturing (CAM). The analysis of performance of the developed algorithm considers data
provided by a furniture industry in the region of Santa Maria. The results obtained by the
algorithm were compared to results generated by specialized software, consisting that the
proposed method presents a similar performance, which demonstrates the feasibility of using CAD
tools to implement solutions in the industry of PCE small and medium businesses.

EFEITO DE TRATAMENTOS TÉRMICOS NA RESISTÊNCIA FLEXURAL DE UMA VITROCERÂMICA REFORÇADA POR LEUCITA / EFFECT OF HEAT TREATMENTS ON FLEXURAL STRENGHT OF A LEUCITE REINFORCED GLASS CERAMICAurelio, Iana Lamadrid 06 June 2014 (has links)
Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul / The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of heat treatments on the flexural
strength, surface roughness and crystalline structure of a leucite reinforced glass
ceramic (IPS Empress CAD, Ivoclar Vivadent, Liechtenstein). A hundred fifty (150)
discs were machined by CEREC inLab MC XL (Sirona, Alemanha) and distributed
into five groups, n=30: C (control, no heat treatment), A-575 (annealed at 575°C
during 15 min, followed by slow cooling and furnace opening at 200°C), A-790
(annealed at 790°C during 15 min, followed by slow cooling and furnace opening at
200°C), G (glazed at 790°C during 1,5 min, followed by fast cooling - immediate
furnace opening) and GM (modified glaze, at 790°C during 1,5 min, followed by slow
cooling and furnace opening at 200°C). Biaxial flexural strength was determined by
the piston-on-three ball test (ISO 6872/2008). Weibull modulus (m) and characteristic
strength (σ0) were calculated from the results. The surface roughness (Ra and Rz)
was measured before and after the treatments. One specimen from each group was
used for X-ray diffraction. A-790 produced the highest values of fracture strength
(211.7 MPa). The values of σ0 obtained for the other tested regimens (A-575: 167.9
MPa, GM: 157.7 MPa and G: 153.7 MPa) were lower than those from the control
group (187.7 MPa). The value of m was statistically similar between the groups. All
heat treatments were able to reduce the mean roughness (Ra) of the specimens. The
mean amplitude (Rz), showed a significant reduction only for the groups submitted to
the annealing treatments (A-575 e A-790). The X-ray diffraction analysis revealed no
changes in the crystalline phase (tetragonal leucite) of the material after the different
heat treatments. Variations in the size of the leucite crystallites after thermal cycles
were not significant. Thus, high values of fracture strength and decreased surface
roughness for a leucite reinforced glass ceramic are achieved by annealing above
the glass transition (Tg=625 ± 20ºC) after machining. This regimen (A-790) was
capable to produce favorable structural reorganization of the material, without
modifying its original crystalline structure. Annealing bellow the glass transition (A-
575) and thermal cycle for glazing (G and GM) significantly reduced the strength of
the material.
A rugosidade superficial (Ra e Rz)
antes e após os tratamentos foi mensurada. Um espécime de cada grupo foi
utilizado para difração de raios-X. O regime A-790 produziu os maiores valores de
resistência à fratura (211,7 MPa). Os valores de σ0 promovidos pelos demais ciclos
testados (A-575: 167,9 MPa, GM: 157,7 MPa e G: 153,7 MPa) foram inferiores aos
do grupo controle (187,7 MPa).
As
glazeamento (G e GM) reduziram significativamente a resistência do material.

Previous issue date: 2007-03-01 / Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos / The facility layout planning is an important factor of production systems. It is
an important step of the facility planning process where converge determinants from business
strategy, economic and work factors, among others.
The knowledge and techniques of this application area have evolved as the
factory concept itself have changed and new aspects were considered as important ones. The
traditional tools and techniques have considered just part of the aspects related to the layout,
as proximity relationships and material flows.
This work aimed to determine a formalism able to represent, in an integrated
way, the aspects considered during the creation and evaluation of layout alternatives by
multidisciplinary design teams. This formalism, based on objects and relationships, breaks
with the prescriptive vision present in traditional facility layout software.
The software that has been developed from the formalism presents an
innovative way for layout designing, and points out to several other innovation opportunities.
It is expected that this formalism may be used for developing software to support work
activities of people involved with industrial facilities planning.
importantes. Tradicionalmente as ferramentas e técnicas desenvolvidas trataram geralmente
