Vad hindrar oss från AI-assistenter? : En fallstudie inom IT-sektorn / What is preventing us from AI-assistents? : A case study in the IT-sector

Hägglund, Adam, Wikström, Olle January 2024 (has links)
Med Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) som teoretiskt ramverk, analyserades kvalitativa data från semistrukturerade intervjuer. / AI assistants have become very popular among consumers, and organizations are increasingly recognizing their potential benefits. Experts suggest that implementing AI assistants faces the same obstacles as implementing regular IT systems, but with unique aspects that further complicate implementation. Previous research has mainly been based on expert opinions, and there is a lack of comprehensive studies on specific obstacles that need to be addressed for successful implementation. This study aims to fill this knowledge gap by interviewing twelve participants from an IT company to gain a comprehensive understanding of their perspectives on AI assistants in their professional environment. Using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) as a theoretical framework, qualitative data from semi-structured interviews were analyzed. The results show that participants generally have a positive attitude towards AI assistants but express several challenges that could hinder the implementation. These challenges include difficulties in identifying appropriate application areas, shifting perceptions of use cases, unfamiliarity with the technology, stress related to implementation, security and trust issues, and limited resources.

Users’ Attitude Towards ChatGPT : A sentiment Analysis on Twitter & Reddit

Örnfelt, Jonas January 2023 (has links)
OpenAI recently introduced ChatGPT, a chatbot powered by the GPT-3 family of deep learninglanguage models (LLMs). With the aid of machine learning techniques, ChatGPT has been fine-tuned to improve its capacity to respond to a diverse range of queries, and it has been describedas one of the most advanced machine learning technologies currently available. While AI israpidly advancing and being integrated into society, the comprehension of people's attitudestowards these novel technologies is not progressing at the same rate. Prior research studies andliterature have highlighted the importance of assessing user sentiment towards newly launchedAI services. Evaluating the expressed attitudes towards the recently introduced ChatGPT canprovide valuable insights into the product's potential, as well as highlighting any challenges orproblems encountered by users. This paper presents a study that examines the attitudesexpressed on the social media platforms Twitter and Reddit. For data collection, this studyutilized social media data in the form of free text obtained through the APIs of Twitter andReddit. A qualitative analysis is carried out with the aid of a sentiment analysis tool to assesslanguage and categorize text data based on their expressed attitudes. This data is presented in aquantitative summary. The findings indicate a favorable disposition among users towardsChatGPT in general but that there are areas of concern where users have conveyed sentimentsof feeling intimidated or having a negative resonance with ChatGPT's capabilities andachievements. This study contributes to the existing understanding of user attitudes towardsChatGPT and highlights the necessity for further research to delve deeper into this area.

ChatGPT as a Software Development Tool : The Future of Development

Hörnemalm, Adam January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of this master’s thesis was to research and evaluate how ChatGPT can be used as a tool in software developers’ daily work activities. In order to do this, the thesis was conducted in two phases, the initial exploration phase and the data collection phase. In the initial exploration phase, five senior-level developers were interviewed about their day-to-day work, opinions of generative AI, and the profession of software developers as a whole. From these interviews, a theoretical foundation for software development was formed, categorizing the daily work tasks of a software developer into either coding, communication, or planning. This theoretical foundation was then used as the basis for the tasks and interviews used during the data collection phase. In the data collection phase, seven developers, ranging from students to industry veterans, were asked to complete a set of representative tasks with the help of ChatGPT and afterward participate in an interview. The tasks were based upon the theoretical foundation of software development and aimed to serve as representative tasks that software developers have to do in their day-to-day work. Based on the tasks and interviews it was found that the use of ChatGPT did in fact help make software developers more effective when it came to coding and planning-based tasks, but not without risk since it was shown that junior developers trusted and relied more on the answers given by ChatGPT. Although ChatGPT showed a positive effect, the tooling still needs improvement, since the developers had trouble with the text formatting when completing communication-based tasks, as well as them expressing a desire for the tooling to be more integrated. However, this desire was not unexpected, since all of the developers involved showed interest in working with generative AI tooling for work-related tasks in the future.

Generative AI effects on school systems : An overview of generative AI with focus on ChatGPT, what it is, what it isn’t and how it works.

Simonsson, Eric January 2023 (has links)
This thesis has investigated what impact generative AI may have on higher education. Using a combination of a systematic literature study and interviews with representatives from four (4) large universities in Sweden. The findings indicate that generative AI is already a disruptive technology in teaching and learning in higher education, and that students now more easily can cheat or “mislead the examiner” using generative AI, for example by presenting ChatGPT generated text as text written by the students themselves. Even though there are some negatives with generative AI, this thesis shows that the Universities are better off embracing this technology instead of trying to work against it. So, what are the positives with generative AI in education? The fact that students can now converse with someone no matter their background, the fact that students can learn by using ChatGPT (if they are taught how to use it properly), the fact that learning how to use ChatGPT might increase the student’s efficiency and therefore increase their attractiveness on the work market when graduating. All of these benefits come with a big WARNING though. That warning is that higher education must teach the students that these tools are not miracle workers. That the tools can be wrong, and it is important that students learn how to question and criticise what is generated. Higher education has a responsibility to introduce the tools tempered by the understanding that they are not a replacement for knowledge, but only a powerful aid to enhance the knowledge that the students already possess. Finally, the study has been conducted during a particularly expansive period for generative AI and the reader should realise that the findings within this thesis represent early results in a young area of research.

ChatGPT as an assistive technology to enhance reading comprehension for individuals with ADHD

Tamdjidi, Ronya, Pagès Billai, Dante January 2023 (has links)
Recent advances in artificial intelligence and natural language processing have led to the development of new assistive technologies for people with disabilities. This study builds on these advancements to investigate whether the AI-driven chatbot ChatGPT can assist individuals with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in better comprehending and recalling written text. The study involved two groups of participants, one with ADHD and one without, who completed two reading comprehension tests, one with ChatGPT as a learning aid and the other without. Additionally, interviews were conducted with all participants to supplement the findings. Though our results showed a decrease in comprehension abilities across both groups when having access to ChatGPT, the participants who had used ChatGPT previously, in any form, had an increase in comprehension. The majority of participants were positive towards using ChatGPT in a similar way in the future. However, we believe that providing participants with a proper education on ChatGPT prior to testing, as well as conducting further testing with a larger sample size over a longer period of time, is necessary to provide a more accurate conclusion.

: A qualitative study about how disruptive technology can change practices, routines and dimensions in higher education

Svens, Lukas, Bergfeldt, Erik, Osterman, William January 2023 (has links)
The AI-based chatbot ChatGPT has taken the world by storm, especially the education sector, as it has the ability to generate full reports, write scripts, assess reports and much more. The disruptive technology ChatGPT is changing the way students learn and the way lecturers teach by offering an exciting new approach to teaching and learning. As ChatGPT has had rapid development, a need for knowledge about the technology has been formed in higher education. The idea of this study is to fill that need and give higher education better knowledge of what ChatGPT has to offer. This study investigates the potential impact of ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence-based algorithm, on the practices and routines in higher education. The study has a qualitative approach and was conducted through three interviews with teachers from different institutions at Umeå University. We also conducted a document study to gather input from teachers across the country to get a wider perspective. The results suggest that the emergence of ChatGPT has the potential to change the way teachers approach their teaching and interact with students. ChatGPT can provide students with quick access to information and feedback, and assist teachers in providing personalized learning experiences and support to students. Additionally, we found that it is important to be critical of the responses generated by ChatGPT since it generates answers based on a series of guesses, which can also be biased. Due to ChatGPTs capabilities of generating realistic texts, institutions may also have to modify examinations and assessment methods to ensure academic integrity. Overall, the findings of this study suggest that the emergence of ChatGPT has the potential to bring significant changes to the practices and routines in higher education, and that teachers should be prepared to adapt to these changes in order to effectively leverage the benefits of this technology.

Generativ AI i kommunikatörsyrket : En kvalitativ studie av hur integreringen av generativ artificiell intelligens påverkar kommunikatörens yrkesroll / Generative AI in the communication profession : A qualitative study on how the integration of generative artificial intelligence affects the professional role of communication specialists

Eriksson, Rebecca, Grape, Linnea January 2024 (has links)
This study aims to investigate how communication specialists perceive the integration of generative artificial intelligence (AI) within their profession and how these changes affect their professional role. The purpose of the study was achieved by conducting qualitative interviews with eight communication professionals regarding their view on the integration of generative AI within their profession. Particularly, we found it interesting to examine how the communication specialists use generative AI within their professional role, what risks and/or opportunities they identify concerning the use of generative AI tools within the communication profession and what factors they deem as crucial for successfully and effectively integrating AI tools within their professional roles. The theoretical framework of the study consists of diffusion theory, actor-network theory, risk society and reflexive modernity.  The results of the study indicate that communication specialists see several opportunities in integrating generative AI tools into their work. Key opportunities identified included using generative AI for inspiration and automating repetitive tasks, thereby allowing communication professionals to allocate more time to the strategic aspects of their work. There was no expressed concern that generative AI could currently replace the communication specialist’s professional role. Thus, the risks identified did not seem to revolve around the job security of the communication specialists but rather around the uncertainty about how generative AI functions, its capabilities, and how it handles the input data. Therefore, the establishment of clearer guidelines and policies on AI usage was something that the communication specialists in this study expressed a great need for. Additional factors identified by communication specialists as crucial for successful AI integration included individual characteristics such as curiosity, a willingness to learn, and openness to change. Thus, the results of the study indicate that achieving successful and effective integration of generative AI is perceived to be a shared responsibility at both organizational and individual levels.

Sándor, Dominik January 2023 (has links)
The aim of this study is to contribute to the existing but limited research on the use of ChatGPT within educational contexts. Furthermore the study investigates how ChatGPT can be used in schools, focusing mainly on the Swedish upper secondary school. This paper also examines how the usage of ChatGPT affects learning and education, with regards to replicative, applicative, associative and interpretative learning. In a broader aspect, this study also discusses what learning and knowledge means within a new world of AI, chatbots and education that have become highly digitalized. This paper categorizes previous research to collect and identify where ChatGPT is used. In addition to categorizing contemporary research, this study also analyzes four questions assigned to ChatGPT from the above mentioned criterias. The questions chosen were based on the curriculum by Skolverket for Samhällskunskap 1b, 2 and 3. In order to evaluate the reliability of the answers produced by ChatGPT, other research and subject books were used. The answers were seemingly correct and also indifferent to ideology in these particular cases. In summary, ChatGPT can be used in various ways to strengthen and aid pupils in the search for replicative and applicative knowledge. However, as this study finds in accordance with previous research, ChatGPT is not suitable to strengthen pupils skills regarding associative and interpretative learning. In these two categories, additional techniques and/or methods implemented by teachers are required to further the development of pupils.

Conversational AI Workforce Revolution : Exploring the Effects of Conversational AI on Work Roles and Organisations

Papadopulos, Julien, Christiansen, Jonas January 2023 (has links)
Recent public artificial intelligence (AI) advancements, particularly ChatGPT, are predicted to transform whole industries, work roles and organisational structures, leading to some jobs becoming obsolete while also creating new opportunities. This qualitative research explores the effects of ChatGPT on work roles and organisations in the information technology (IT) industry, more specifically, the effects on skills, competence, and organisational processes such as the automation of routine and non-routine tasks. The aim is to fill the gap in how ChatGPT affects the IT industry and to provide recommendations for policy makers, companies, and workers to address these challenges. Two research questions were formulated: “How does the increasing adoption of ChatGPT in internal work processes of businesses in the IT industry change work roles” and “impact the organisation and what are the potential implications for changes in work roles due to ChatGPT?”. To explore and answer these questions two data collection methods were used such as semi-structured interviews and qualitative questionnaires, with a combined sample size of 14 participants. The data was analysed using thematic as well as content analysis and the theoretical framework. The findings suggest that adopting ChatGPT is indeed transforming work roles and organisations by automating routine and non-routine tasks, leading to efficiency and cost savings. While some roles and skills change, others become entirely obsolete. The impact varies based on organisational factors, the nature of work and adaptability to new technologies, leading to the emergence of new opportunities in AI management and big data. Smaller companies in particular benefit from implementing ChatGPT, allowing focus on other tasks such as for example strategic development. Organisational challenges include training employees and adapting to new technology as well as concerns for job loss.
