The construction of a scientific debate orbited among theorists as Bakhtin, Foucault, and Pêcheux, Orlandi and reports printed newspaper Folha de Boa Vista, documentary basis for the analysis of speech through the use of linguistic and semiotic ele-ments, sought to criminalize indigenous Roraima. In the six years analyzed, we found that the print media through the journalistic discourse contributed to the process of criminalization of indigenous Roraima. Finally, we identified strategies for building a discourse that criminalizes those same Indians. The analysis takes as a reference the mass of documents that match the selected issues of the newspaper Folha de Boa Vista, where we identified the discursive forms of criminalization of indigenous Roraima, and aims to reveal how it produces the silence of theindigenous in the newspaper pages in reference.

It is focused on the distinction between the categories of wai-mahsã (invisible humans) and wai (fish). The wai-mahsãare human beings dwelling the domains of earth, forest, air and water. They have got the faculty of metamorphosis and camouflage, assuming (dressing) the form of animals and fishes, and acquiring their traits and physical skills. They are also the source of knowledge: Tukanoan specialists (yai, kumu and baya) must communicate with them, and from them they get their knowledge. The category of wai (fish), unlike some anthropological conclusions, does not have anthropocentric attributes, in other words, it does not have the status of people. For Tukanoan, fishes never had a human condition, even in their mythic origin. Contrariwise, their genesis is often related to discarded things: wood debris, objects and ornaments dismissed by waimahsã, discarded and rotten parts of human body, etc. This dissertation is also an attempt to undo the misunderstanding between the concepts of wai-mahsã and wai.

Since the official announcement, in 2009, that the city would receive those matches, different actions were projected, although not all of them were done, due to operational reasons, time exiguity, etc. During this preparation time, we could perceive situations that make it possible for us to say that many people from the city, especially soccer supporters and sympathizers but also people linked to public agencies, trade market, services, etc, have been living a bigger involvement with the sport (realization of sport events, presence in stadiums due to local championships, organized groups of soccer fans), as well as the creation of expectations about improvements of the urban infrastructure, realization of new businesses, etc. In these situations and other more, we can recognize the spirit of the World Cup, which has been intensifying in 2013, because this year takes up at the same time as the deadline of the construction of the new stadium, which is conventionally called Arena da Amazônia. This paper has the intention to show an anthropological approach concerning the preparations for the 2014 World Cup, in Manaus-AM, considering more than the urban improvement actions promoted by the public power and private initiative, the position that soccer has been occupying on the discussions that implicate the preparations for the event. Taking into consideration that soccer is the biggest reason for the realization of the World Cup and one of the biggest popular expressions of the world, including Brazil and Manaus, we try to interpret the vision of the soccer fans and sympathizers in Manaus, that are also citizens of Manaus and Brazilians, this set of urban changes, in a large scale, oriented to public spaces or from shared use.

As a form of resistance to the extinction of their Brazilian culture, indigenous peoples fought for their rights, land, health, and, specifically education. This study brings a reflection about Ticuna indigenous education at Ebenezer School. The main objective of this study was to contextualize the teaching practices of the Ebenezer indigenous municipal school in Benjamin Constant, Alto Solimões - AM. Based on a hypothesis that school has a very strong role in carrying out the transmission of culture, but within a logic of state homogenization especially in the cases of indigenous schools, aiding in the depredation of a differentiated school in the name of a presumed National culture. The data collected allows us to point out that the Ticuna education process has undergone significant advances in their curriculum guidelines, but there are obstacles that must be overcome so there is really a school education that meets the prospect of Ticuna people.

These militants alternated in specific places such as: places of academic production about health, organizations from civil society of political militancy of confrontation of anti-black racism, international organizations and instances of public policies management. Since the understanding of certain uses of the notion of health in anthropology, it comes to situate the topic of this dissertation for its focus on a policy of Affirmative Actions to the health of black people in Brazil. In the proposition of a critical view of how the black body was introduced as a question in the anthropological discussion since the XIX century, it is highlighted the dialogue with the health sciences. Taking into account the way anthropology characterized the Africans and their descendants in a condition of almost-humanity, it was notably pointed out the absence of plain health, being it because of unsafe habits and contexts, biological and cultural heritage, or social organization unable to provide appropriate conditions of life. The debate among the colonialist anthropology and the pan-africanist militancy emerges from these formulations, with derogatory characteristics in the comparison between the process of construction and the recognition of the difference between the African-Americans and Amerindians in the community of nations. This contributed to the spread of certain formulation of the place designated to Africans and their descendants in the narrative that talks about the Aids epidemy in the world. It is with emphasis to the contribution of different sections of black movements in the construction of the National Policy of Integral Attention to the Health of Black People (PNAISPN) and its relation with PEAAPNA that it is explained the correlation elaborated with the conceptual tools of AA and the Health of Black People.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Dissertação - Marilia de Jesus da Silva e Sousa.pdf: 18208991 bytes, checksum: d927df00f7396301fd1866d47e20f8f6 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2011-02-22 / Outras / This work discusses the social context of the production of handicrafts in three riverine localities: Belo Monte, São José do Urini and Sítio Cachimbo, all of them, located in the Amanã Sustainable Development Reserve, Middle Solimões River, Amazonas State. In these three places, a set of traditional handicrafts is produced, such as different kinds of baskets (paneiros and balaios), sieves, fans, brooms, paddles, pottery and others. An ethnographic study was carried out, which identified the set of objects produced and used locally, the craftsmen engaged in this activity, the raw material used, the production strategies, the commercial arrangements and the context of teaching and learning this knowledge. Among the communities studied, handicrafts are destined to domestic use and comfort, agricultural, fisheries and extractive activities, and sold in close communities, as well as the municipalities of Tefé and Alvarães. In this context, paneiros, sieves, paddles and canoes have differentiated status among the set of objects identified. This is explained by the importance that theseobjects have on everyday riverine life and their incursion in the sphere of sales and exchanges, that gives them a wider exchange value within the local economy. By selling these objects, families can ensure an important source of income in the local domestic economy, since, depending on the period of the year, such income may represent the main source of livelihood. Furthermore, the production and commercialization of handicrafts involves a net of social relations, where in addition to objects, a set of practices and knowledge circulates. These practices and knowledge are marked by a manual tradition, transmitted through generations by the social relations of kinship. Therefore, the recognition of this knowledge not only enables the promotion and the strengthening of this cultural expression within these communities, but also the diffusion of this practice in the region.

The ethnography presented here was produced by the Ticuna artisans women from two distinct regions in the state of Amazonas: one by the upper Solimões river, in three communities that make up the Santo Antonio Indigenous community and in the Barro Vermelho community, and, in Manaus, by some Ticuna artisans women who live in the capital. It is a record of the Ticuna women’s practice, made by monitoring the baskets making process, since the moments prior to the weaving activity (harvesting, drying, dyeing), until the connections that such activity establish in social life and in their cultural prescriptions. Along the way, I identified counting processes, forms of material selection, methods used to measure, among other features observed in the making of baskets and that are in the categories of understanding. It shows how much artisans' practice is representative and how much it highlights the place of women in their society, either because of their prestige in the way today's communities closest to the cities are organized, or due to their authority as having the knowledge of the Ticuna ritual practices. The drawings in the pacará baskets were identified and classified as a sign, and its meanings attributed by the Ticunas, considering the combination of the different manifestations that these representations appear in ritual practices and artifacts. Finally, we make an overview of the communities surveyed and the network that revolves around the practice of women, implying aspects of culture, social life and interaction with the surrounding society.

Since the 1960’s, we have seen a series of investments in infrastructure, being built in the most unimaginable places in the region. The installation of such “monuments” have affected various aspects of the lives of “traditional peoples and communities”, instigating local social conflicts. The implantation of the “Madeira Complex” represents one more milestone in the history of “traditional peoples and communities” by generating “forced displacements” and the separation of organizational units, in order to make way for “integrationist" actions. Those “people affected” (“atingidos”) by this process, whom are the focus of this research, have established a struggle for the recognition of their rights, related to various issues, above all, the collective existence as “atingidos” by the “Madeira Complex” hydroelectric project. In this research, I highlight various conflicting situations, specifically those that occurred between 2011 and 2014. During this period the conflict situations have become more intense. The struggle of the “atingidos” caused by the hydroelectric companies has been based on the maintenance of their territories, the recognition of their rights, the guarantee of their way of life, as well as the practices through which they have socially constructed their concepts and ways of relating to each other. Considering the disputes and impositions, I start from the understanding of how such social agents have reacted to all of the onslaughts that prioritize the establishment of infrastructure that benefits the coalition of interests between “private companies and governments”; taking into account that this association denies the recognition of the social agents and their rights over the territories historically occupied in the Madeira River region.
