Kriminalitet, vad är problemet? : En diskursanalys av kriminalpolitiken i Tidöavtalet

Hellman, Johanna January 2023 (has links)
In October 2022 the Swedish governing parties and the Sweden Democrats signed an agreement called Tidöavtalet. The aim of this thesis is to explore what the problem regarding criminality is represented to be in that political agreement. To answer the research question the analysis have been based on Carol Bacchi´s methodological and theoretical approach “What´s the problem represented to be?” (WPR) to through the suggested solutions understand the underlying representations of the problem. Additionally, theories of punishment have been used to better understand the material. Following four main problems have been identified: Insufficient laws and punishments, insufficient methods to solve crimes, gang violence and immigration. The method also targets what is left unproblematic and since drug policy and zero tolerance historically have been the salient topic of criminal policy in Sweden, the absence of a discussion regarding drugs in Tidöavtalet was surprising. Furthermore, the rehabilitative process of convicted criminals is also left unproblematic, and the deleterious consequences of incapacitation are not addressed. /
2023-06-09

Den svenska regeringens syn på medie- och informationskunnighet (MIK), 2018–2022, och dess inverkan på biblioteksvärlden : en policydokumentanalys / The Swedish Government's Understanding of Media and Information Literacy (MIL), 2018–2022, and its Impact on the Library Sector : a Policy Document Analysis

Corso, Sebastian, Ljusberg, Tora January 2023 (has links)
Purpose: Our main task is to find out how the Swedish government deals with media and information literacy (MIL) among the general public, and which key actors it identifies in this process. More specifically we want to know whether public libraries are considered to be such key actors – which is the common view within library and information science (LIS). Method: This is a document study, applying Carol LeeBacchi's WPR approach, on a selection of Swedish government assignments published 2018–2022. Findings: From earlier looking at digitalization in positive connotations, today the Swedish government talks more alarmistically about the dangers of digitalization and attributes MIL as a safeguard and as a means in the protection of democracy, leading to the presence of MIL in practically all of the governmental offices. Major joint investments are emphasized to achieve high MIL. But due to the shifting and situation-dependent understanding of the MIL concept, the results of the investments run the risk of being ineffective. In 2019 the government therefore assigned The Swedish Media Council (Statens medieråd) to coordinate the promotion of MIL. As for the apparent urgency of MIL issues in our research material, LIS and the public libraries extensive MIL expertise should be taken into account. How the Swedish Media Council perceives the library field's competence within MIL can have a major impact on public libraries' future promotion of MIL. The result raises the question of how the library field can mediate its solid knowledge of MIL to the outside world.

(Fysisk) kontakt är viktigast av allt : En diskursanalys av bibliotekens perspektiv på funktionshinder / (Physical) contact is most important of all : A discourse analysis of libraries perspective of disability

Nordström, Anna January 2024 (has links)
The Swedish Library Act stipulates the libraries responsibility to pay specific attention to people with impairments. However, no explicit definition of impairments or disability is offered. Findings in previous disability research show that using the term disability without connection to a theoretical framework leads to an understanding of disability as a phenomenon simply caused by the impairments of individuals rather than aspects of the environment. In the everyday usage disability is thereby commonly determined by visually overt signifiers as wheelchairs or hearing aids. “Invisible” impairments and social or relational aspects of disability is seldom accounted for. In this study, ten randomly selected present public library plans were analyzed through a discourse analysis, focusing on how disability is perceived in the plans. Findings show that disability is predominantly understood as a phenomenon caused by impairments connected to individuals and that these individuals usually come in second place when library services are planned and designed. Furthermore, the design of library services is also depicted as something that could cause disability, especially aspects of the physical environment and alternative formats to facilitate reading are in focus. The acknowledgement of attitudinal or relational aspects of disabilities were not visible in the plans that were analyzed. The overall emerging picture is thus a traditional view of what libraries and library use are, as well as a traditional view of what causes disability. Nevertheless, the responsibility to pay specific attention to people with disabilities is evident and a strong connection to human rights is thereby visible.

De l’esthétique de la trace : Mémoire, Histoire, Récit dans l’oeuvre de six romancières centraméricaines actuelles (1990-2007= / On the Aesthetics of Trace : Memory, History, Narration in the Oeuvre of Six Current Central American Women Writers (1990-2007)

Marchio, Julie 06 December 2014 (has links)
In the context of the progressive (re-)democratization of the Central American isthmus during the 1990s, the sub-genre of the historical novel lived a new boom inscribing itself in a global tendency on the Latin American sub-continent. Women writers in the isthmus not only started to make their presence felt in the novel, in general, scarcely cultivated by them up to that moment, but participated actively in the new enthusiasm provoked by the mise en fiction of history, a phenomenon barely studied by Central American literary criticism up until then. This study is based on the textual analysis of seven novels published between 1992 and 2007 by six Central American women writers. It seeks to demonstrate that the fictional writing of these Central American women novelists is characterized by a certain number of specific features that do not depend on biology but represent a historical approach that predominantly focuses on women, the marginalised and those excluded from power. On the other hand, it also tries to show that at the same time this writing is part of a more general tendency that we have termed the "aesthetics of trace": a progressive evolution of the historic novel towards the novel of historical memory. In this way, the present research about a literature still too marginalized in European universities, aims at contributing to the analysis of the modes of history writing chosen by women writers in Central America and to the comprehension of the change of paradigm, which the historical novel is undergoing at this moment, not only in the Central American region, but also in a number of Latin American countries that are marked by a process of political transition.

Seriemördare i fiktionen : Jeffrey Dahmer som karaktär hos Lotta Lotass och Joyce Carol Oates / Fictional Serial Killers : Jeffrey Dahmer as a Protagonist in Works of Lotte Lotass and Joyce Carol Oates

Sundberg Brorsson, Tone January 2013 (has links)
Serial killers are present in most Media today: TV-shows, books, magazines, news shows and music. Research about them has been made in many fields, such as criminology, psychology and psychiatry. There is also research about the serial killer as a cultural being. In my paper I have looked into the serial killer in fiction. I have chosen to compare two novels that deal with the serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. The novels are Lotta Lotass’ Min röst skall nu komma från en annan plats i rummet and Joyce Carols Oates’ Zombie. By examining how the novels relate to the actual case and how they describe the violence and the person,I wanted to see if fiction can give a contrasting picture of how serial killers are usually described. I wanted to know if itis possible for fiction to represent serial killers as persons rather thanas inhuman monsters. My paper shows that although the novels differ in a lot of aspects, they both manage to contrast the picture of Dahmer. Zombieis more loosely based on Dahmer than Min röst, but focuses more on the violence. The Dahmer character in Zombie is more psychologically complex than the one in Min röst, but they both manage to describe the characters as human and they both avoid the stereotypical representation of serial killers.
