Didelio ir vidutinio meistriškumo rankininkų požiūris į trenerių gebėjimą bendrauti, vadovauti bei kurti psichologinį komandos klimatą / High and medium mastery handball player’s approach To their coach’s leading and communicative skills and skills to establish psychological climate in the team

Ramilienė, Rasa 16 August 2007 (has links)
... [toliau žr. visą tekstą] / Every coach aims to be the example to follow for his young athletes, therefore it is very important to know the approach to the coach by young and high-mastery handball players: how they assess communication with their coach, his leading skills and skill to establish psychological climate in the groups. Working with both high and medium mastery handball players, coaches experience nearly the same tasks which influence work efficiency, friendship, psychological climate in the group and their achievements. Research problem is the absence of answer to the question of how high and medium mastery handball players assess their coach and how their approach to male and female coaches differs. Research goal is to analyze and compare how high and medium mastery athletes assess communication with their coach, their approach to coach’s leading skills and skill to establish psychological climate in the team. The tasks are: 1) to analyze high and medium mastery handball players’ approach to their coach’s communicative skills (on the basis of Gnostic, emotional and behavior components), leading skills and skill to establish psychological climate in the group; 2) to compare high and medium mastery handball players’ approach to their coach’s communicative skills (on the basis of Gnostic, emotional and behavior components), leading skills and skill to establish psychological climate in the group; 3) to compare high and medium mastery athletes’ approach to coach’s gender issue. Dvikovos sporto šakų trenerių praktinio rengimo metodikų vertinimas / The Evaluation of Practical Training Methods in Combat Sports

Labalaukytė-Liesionienė, Odeta 14 January 2009 (has links)
Sportas pasaulyje daro pažangą. Sparčiai gerėja sportiniai rezultatai, tvirtėja ryšiai tarp Europos ir kitų žemynų, pačios Europos valstybės glaudžiau bendradarbiauja sporto srityje. Šiuo metu Lietuvoje vyrauja daugiau teorinis nei praktinis įvairių sričių specialistų rengimas. Tokia tendencija ryškėja ir trenerių rengime. Tam, kad sporto specialistai (tame tarpe treneriai) būtų paruošti visapusiškai, pradėję savo karjerą turėtų ne tik teorinių, bet ir praktinių žinių, įgūdžių, daugiau dėmesio reikėtų skirti praktiniam rengimui. Tačiau egzistuoja keletas stiprių alternatyvių požiūrių, teigiančių, kad aukštosios universitetinės mokyklos (universitetai, akademijos) rengia ne tam tikros srities specialistus, o išprususią, kūrybingą ir gebančią mokytis asmenybę. Kuri praktinius veiklos įgūdžius turėtų susiformuoti (ir tobulinti) konkrečioje darbo vietoje. Todėl darbo tikslas - ištirti ir įvertinti dvikovos sporto šakų atstovų nuomonę apie praktinio rengimo vaidmenį ugdant trenerį aukštojoje mokykloje. Darbe analizuojama mokslinė literatūra, žurnalai, disertacijos, monografijos. Pirmas skyrius skirtas teoriniam trenerių rengimui išanalizuoti. Antrajame skyriuje pateikiami dvikovos sporto šakų trenerių praktinio rengimo metodikų tyrimų rezultatai, jų analizė. Trečiame skyriuje pateikiami pasiūlymai trenerių praktinio rengimo sistemos tobulinimui. Atlikus teorinę analizę ir padarius tyrimą, paaiškėjo, kad 50 % mokymo turinio dalies turi būti skirta praktiniam trenerių rengimui... [toliau žr. visą tekstą] / Sport is making a significant progress. The sportsmen‘s results are becoming better and better. The relations between continents are becoming firmer. European countries are collaborating more closely in terms of sports. Nowadays theoretical education is dominating in education of different specialist. This tendency is becoming more actual in education of sports coaches. To ensure sports specialists (coaches included) to be ready for their work, they must have not only theoretical knowledge but also practical experience (skills); more attention should be paid to practical training. There are some alternative points of view according this question. For example that high school (universities, academies) educates not the professionals in a particular area, but the educated, creative, ready to learn personality. This graduate should form his/her practical skills in a particular workplace. The main goal of this master’s diploma paper – to evaluate the opinion of representatives of combat sports about the importance of practical training when educating coaches. Scientific literature (articles, dissertations, monographs) is analyzed. First part of diploma paper reveals the education of coaches theoretically. Second part contains the results (and the analysis of the results) of the empirical researches. The suggestions for the development of practical training of coaches are presented in the third part. After the analysis of the scientific literature and the empirical research, the... [to full text]

State space grids: First application of a novel methodology to examine coach-athlete interactions in competitive youth sport

Erickson, Karl 16 December 2009 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to compare the coach-athlete interaction structures of two competitive youth synchronized swimming teams, one more successful with regard to athletes’ performance and personal development than the other. This comparison was conducted through the first application of state space grid (SSG) observational methodology (Hollenstein, 2007; Lewis, Lamey, & Douglas, 1999) in field-based sport psychology research. Both teams (two head coaches and 17 athletes in total) were observed over multiple training sessions. Both coach and athlete behaviour was coded continuously for the duration of each training session. Measures of coach athlete interaction structure, based on dynamic systems concepts, were derived from these coded behaviours and compared between teams. Results revealed significant differences between the two teams on measures of interaction variability, behavioural content patterns, and the sequencing of coach behaviours. The more successful team was characterized by less variable, more patterned interactions between coaches and athletes. This patterning took the form of more individualized technical and positive reinforcement feedback information and significantly less use of negative feedback by the head coach, interspersed with substantial periods of silent observation. The athletes of the more successful team more actively acknowledged the receipt of this feedback from their coach. The sequencing of coach behaviours was more patterned for the coach of the more successful team, with heavy emphasis on the pairing of technical correction and positive reinforcement statements. The findings suggest that a respectful, deliberate pattern of coach-athlete interaction may be associated with youth sport environments producing more positive performance and personal development outcomes for athletes. / Thesis (Master, Kinesiology & Health Studies) -- Queen's University, 2009-12-16 14:46:55.016

An Evaluation of Reactivity to Observer Presence While Self-Monitoring to Improve Swimming Performance

Schonwetter, Sara Wendi 01 January 2012 (has links)
The current study evaluated the effects of self-monitoring by swimmers to improve their performance at practice and assessed the effects of reactivity to observer presence on their performance. Additionally, it investigated the accuracy of the swimmers' self-reports. Seven public high school swim team members used program boards to self-monitor in order to increase the number of assigned laps completed at practice. Reactivity to observer presence was assessed by having a confederate record the number of laps completed during observer absent conditions. A series of AB replications and an ABAB reversal design were used. The percentage of assigned laps completed increased during the self-monitoring phases. The self-monitoring and feedback phase showed an additional increase in the percentage of assigned laps completed, and also showed an increase in the mean level of reporting accuracy by the participants. The effects from the reactivity assessment were mixed; the percentage of assigned laps completed was lower on days that the observer was absent compared to the days the observer is present for only some of the participants. More research is needed to examine reactivity effects in sport settings.

Kinderevičiūtė, Goda 10 September 2013 (has links)
Academic Support of Division I Head Coaches: Perceptions of Student-Athletes

Raddatz, Mikaela M 01 January 2013 (has links)
Intercollegiate athletics in the United States have continuously become more commercialized, pressuring athletics departments and coaches to produce winning teams. The commanding expectations for successful programs have been thought to take away from the academic mission of colleges and universities, focusing efforts on athletics over academics. This phenomenon has been examined, but the role head coaches play in support of student-athlete academics has yet to be explored. The purpose of this study is to measure student-athlete perception of academic support from Division I head coaches. Current literature demonstrates the strong influence of coaches on student-athletes, but the effect in the area of academics is unknown. Therefore, the research presented aims to evaluate the connection between student-athletes and the academic support of head coaches.

Coach's [sic] influence on the career development of student athletes / Coaches' influence on the career development of student athletes

Buckley, Shannon K. January 1997 (has links)
The goal of many institutions of higher education is to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to be successful citizens of society. For college student athletes an athletic coach can play a vital role in the collegiate experience. The thesis, Coach's Influence On The Career Development Of Student Athletes, examined the extent, if any, an athletic head coach influenced the career planning process encountered by college student athletes. The study was original in nature as it attempted to investigate a head athletic coach's influence on a student athlete's career development. The participants of the study were 163 male and 92 female student athletes attending a Midwestern, NCAA division 1, mid-sized, public university. The 40 question, scaled, survey instrument was created by the researcher and field tested before the actual administration of the instrument. Significant findings were found for male head coaches influencing the career development of male student athletes. Other significant findings are also discussed. Recommendations of the study direct coaches and athletic administrators to be aware of the career-related challenges faced by college student athletes, and to create an environment that promotes healthy career choices. / Department of Secondary, Higher, and Foundations of Education

A coaching programme for nursing college managers to facilitate employee wellness / M.M. Tlapu.

Tlapu, Moipone Martha January 2013 (has links)
There have been on-going debates regarding wellness and management roles. There are several general programmes for facilitation of wellness. Some are implemented but others not. The urge to develop a coaching programme for college managers was triggered by personal experiences as the principal of a nursing college with the aim of helping the managers to facilitate employee wellness. The research was conducted to make a meaningful contribution to a body of knowledge, in particular knowledge related to the facilitation of employees’ wellness by the nursing college management. Aim The aim of the study was to develop a coaching programme for nursing colleges’ managers to facilitate employee wellness. The research was conducted into two phases. Phase one The first phase is a situational analysis. A qualitative strategy, which is explorative, descriptive and contextual in nature, was used. The perceptions of employees, guided by a literature review, were explored and described. Research Design Method The design of the study was qualitative, with explorative, descriptive and contextual elements. The nursing college managers were interviewed in both individual and in focus groups interviews. Only six main samples were used, namely: principals, vice-principals, HODs, registrars, nurse educators and support staff. An interview schedule was prepared by the researcher and experts in qualitative design. The first focus group interviews were conducted with the heads of departments in four nursing colleges. Three focus group interviews were held with heads of departments, nurse educators and support staff. Individual interviews were held with three principals and college registrars. The data analysis procedure from Henning, Van Rensburg and Smit’s (2008:106) writing was adopted as the bases for data analysis in phase one of the study. Deductive and inductive strategies were used. The results of phase one relating to the experiences and perceptions of employees and managers were used in conjunction with the integration of the embedded literature to develop the conceptual framework and coaching programme for the management of nursing colleges. Phase two The second phase was the description of the conceptual framework. An integrated map was compiled by mapping the concepts from the conclusions from all the empirical findings from Chapters 3 and 4.The main concepts of the integrated map are described. Finally, a visual conceptual framework was presented. A coaching programme for nursing college managers to facilitate employee’s wellness was developed. The programme was presented into 2 parts; part 1 for training managers to empower them with coaching skills. Part 2 addressed facilitation of employee’s wellness. Ethical considerations were observed throughout the study. Results and findings The results from both the employees and managers reflected challenges which involved the political mandate of increasing numbers of students without extra human and material resource allocation. Most of the employees complained about college management, which did not recognise their efforts and qualifications. Other causes of dissatisfaction included increased workload, the large numbers of students and decreased facilities through the rationalisation and merger of the nursing colleges. / Thesis (PhD (Nursing))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2013.
