In the XXI century, despite the speech of especial education in an inclusion perspective, some processes of stigmatization and segregation are still present practices in brazilian school institutions, especially, when it comes to students with Intellectual Disability (ID). In an inclusive aproach, such students inserted in regular schools require modifications, some didactic-pedagogical and attitudinal rearrangements. Thus, the proposed research in this dissertation aims to understand from the life and school histories of young people with ID, how their school trajectories had reverberated in the self-image they establish of themselves, Considering the relationship between the stigma interface, identity and ID. The study aimed to analyze how the school experiences of young people with ID interfere in the formation of their identity. Three young women diagnosed with ID and their respective aunts / mothers had the participation in the study. The applied methodology follows a qualitative approach, guided by the method of oral history of life. In the data construction, the recurrent interview was used, which allowed the apprehension of meanings attributed to the school life by the subjects of the research. We organized the categories as follows: a) school and life trajectories; b) conceptions and experiences of socialization in the regular school; c) schooling processes in regular school. The data analysis allowed us to understand the types of experiences with the stigma which students with ID are experiencing in the school context, considerably broadening the knowledge about the way the process of including people with ID has been done, its advances and its limitations with regards to the guarantee of socialization and schooling in the regular school. We verified, with the study, that the schooling of ID people inserted in regular classes, in the last years elementary and high school, is still characterized by the precariousness of inclusion processes, through the non-acceptance and the establishment of a non-reciprocal mixed contacts, reinforcing the stigma of the non-learning and development of students with ID, as well as the belief that regular school is not their place. At last, one of the lessons (provided by this) dissertation is the need to create a less restrictive school environment for ID students, allowing the construction of identities without limiting and conditioning them to a supposed label, considering the multiplicity of attributes and potentialities that must be effectively developed in the course of a school life, creating new meanings about what is intellectual disability in a school routine.

This research aimed to know and analyze the pedagogical practices that have been developed in the teaching and learning of students with Intellectual Disability (DI), enrolled at common class of elementary school I. The study was conducted in a public school at Natal/RN, involving two students with DI, a multipurpose teacher, a teaching assistant, a teacher of arts and educational coordinator. As for methodological choice, we chose to develop a qualitative study, undertaking a case study. As tools for the construction of the data we use: semi-structured interviews, participant observation, field diary and document analysis. Data analysis reveals that the institution in which the research was undertaken gradually implementing changes in order to develop an inclusive practice, consistent with its assumptions. Regarding the practices developed in the teaching and learning of students with intellectual disabilities, it was possible to realize the fulfillment of certain adjustments in relation to the objectives, activities and some content, involving the use of resources and varied strategies. With regard to educational activities, we found that these had different levels of complexity, covering both basic goals as more complex objectives. From the observations, we realize that the Assistant Professor of mediations during varied activities as challenging tool in intellectual processes. We note, too, a dynamic classroom in which disabled students were under the guidance of Assistant Professor, and other students with all-round teacher who had a fairly traditional teaching methodology. It created thus an isolation situation, since there was no proposition practices to be developed with all students, and interaction among classmates, generally quite restricted. Although were highlighted developments in the social and academic learning of the surveyed students, the teachers said they did not feel prepared to work freight inclusion. The study reveals the need for teachers reviewing some actions undertaken, in order to develop more democratic pedagogical practices of education, stimulating the interactions between students, by proposing challenging activities that promote the formation and concepts. In addition, it points to the need of the education system invest and encourage the qualification of teachers with regard to education in an inclusive perspective, through actions that promote lifelong learning. It needs to be developed on the teacher a reflective attitude, resulting in a view that due diligence must be entered in practice inherent in teaching in order to use to enhance their educational experience.

This study concerns a collaborative research supported in the historical and cultural approach of Vigotsky aiming to situate the mediation as a strategy necessary in the Special Educational Treatment ? SET to a student with intellectual deficiency signed in an enforcement school - the academic school of the Federal University of Maranh?o - COLUN/UFMA. A digressive effort from the concept of SET, set in the document of the National Policy of Special Education in the Perspective of Inclusive Education - PNEEPEI/2008 pointed contradictions between what this policy offers and the actions taken in the investigated school. From there a methodological route was made, involving procedures such as interview, observation, as well as Reflexive Circles, that allowed the unveiling of elements that supported the proof that in SET the social and cultural mediation is a necessary condition in the academic inclusion of students with intellectual deficiency. These have been experimenting successive situations of academic failure which have been attributed to the condition they present. Under this pretext, the hegemony of practices tend to the reproduction of this excluding reality, including what concerns the student Sol, in COLUN/UFMA. The ?Sol? case was utilized, elaborated to support the methodological route, especially in the conduction of formative space executed in the ?Reflexive Circles?. The main complaint of the professionals involved in the academic process of ?Sol?, which was registered in the case, was centered on the fact that him, for not being able to read nor write, he could not accompany the teaching program proposed by the school. This finding, added to others, implicated on the deepening of the concept of mediation in the ?Reflexive Circle?. In this space and in analyses undertaken for the attainment of this investigation, we sought to demonstrate that the mediation, as praxis in SET for ?Sol? must follow an interventional, elaborated intentionally e collaboratively with the school?s professionals. This work proposed a SET in amplified molds, in relation to those conceived in the Directions of the Policy of Special Education/2008, once it did not start from the supposition that the concrete conditions for the realization of this support to the inclusion of ?Sol? are already given in his school. This reached its conclusive phase having developed a methodological propose as an alternative so that the SET for the student ?Sol? would not reduce itself to a space or was reified to the point of allowing it to be thought without the school?s participation, represented in its total, and, later, presenting a SET plan as ample expression of an understanding about inclusive education.

Having in mind that the challenges students face are not only theirs, but a result of the way education is conceived and put into practice, to build an inclusive school, that meets intellectually disabled students? interests and needs, requires a whole reorganization of the teaching process. As an integrating element of this process, we highlight the Specialized Educational Attendance (AEE for its acronym in Portuguese), as one of the services within Special Education that has taken place at schools and may be able to call attention to intellectually disabled students and how they learn. Aiming at analyzing the function of AEE in the school process of intellectually disabled students, this study was carried out through a qualitative approach, based on a research-action, which englobed teachers from the Specialized Educational Attendance, teachers from regular schools and the pedagogical staff from a public school in Natal/RN, Brazil. At first, we have conducted a semistructured interview and a documental research, with visits that aimed at knowing the AEE reality at the school and, later, a continuing education program triggered from the needs encountered on the students school process. From the discussions raised on educational meetings, we have noticed that teachers recognize the need to redefine their concepts and practices, as well as the importance of the AEE teacher, acting in a dynamic and connected way along with the whole school organization.

Bins, Katiuscha Lara Genro 27 February 2013 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2015-04-14T14:23:37Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 451410.pdf: 1429962 bytes, checksum: 50c97c1ef452be5d63cdba9bb1576ca7 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2013-02-27 / Every human being is a collection of their biological and social context and so unique. I think that human diversity is still a little respected in educational environment especially when the characteristic of the difference is of the deficiency. The school is not yet prepared to work with the differences. Keeps on seeking and demanding homogenizations such as the students as learning. The EJA, even as a teaching modality of education that has basic inclusive assumptions, still can not work with and from the differences. In this educational universe are included adults with intellectual disabilities. The Adults with intellectual disabilities are attending adult education, but, in most cases, are not able to handle the contents and requirements that the traditional teaching still requires and demands. Many times these students stay in school for years, the same level of education, without improving. This way, their presence in the EJA is a challenge for teachers who need to respond to their demands and ensure a quality education. I believe that it is necessary to (re) congnize their knowledge and their potentialities, get to know how their learning work and hence its development within the school environment. While noticing some changes have already occurred, such as the right of access to regular educational system, it is necessary to go further and also ensure them the right to educational opportunities and concrete practical learning. I take this research a learning perspective throughout life, education as a right for all human beings, being these the principles that move me and that impel me to reflect and discuss about intellectually disabled adults included in EJA. Having thus main focus the person with intellectual disabilities included in EJA, I structured aspects to be studied and analyzed: his adulthood, because they are still seen and treated as "eternal children" and we must recognize them as adults; inclusion because ponder that they were included, more for law demandings than by beliefs and attitudes really inclusive; and learning, in order to (re) congnize who is the adult learner with intellectual disabilities, their organic deficits, cognitive and social, and especially what are their potentialities , respecting and using them in the teaching-learning strategies, because only then can be possible to think about strategies and opportunities for learning and comprehensive training. I conclude with the adequacy and inadequacy of education for youth and adults for people with intellectual disabilities, weaving a web of considerations about positive and negative aspects. By approaching them I intend to raise discussions and point out elements that I evaluate, need to be rethought, others who need to leave the theoretical universe and become practical realities, possible to be done. The research was conducted in a municipal school of Youth and Adult Education in Porto Alegre. I searched through the data obtained by observation, document analysis and semi-structured interviews, to describe the youth and adults reality of the education of with intellectual disabilities included in the EJA. The assumptions that guided this research are qualitative.

The study was conducted in academic year 2010 in a municipal school in Natal-RN, aimed at investigating the pedagogical practices developed by the participating teachers as well as its view of the front of Intellectual Disabilities students who are inserted in the initial years of Elementary School. In methodological choice, considering the nature of the phenomenon, we chose the qualitative approach and the case study method. The observation and semi-structured interview were used as procedures, which contributed to a significant collection of data in an attempt to answer the objectives. The study subjects were selected by convenience and were formed into two teachers from Elementary School I, linked to the public educational system, which volunteered to collaborate in this research. The analysis of the observations and of the speeches made possible build pedagogical considerations on the action with students with Intellectual Disabilities in a regular school. The results point to a practice covered with a traditional pedagogy, with a few adjustments, although there is an initial process of change, what we observe in the classroom and captured in the words, because, at various times, we saw an interest in developing a pedagogy of Freire. One aspect that caught our attention refers to the formative action at school for these teachers. We found its incipiency, because this does not happen in a systematic way at school. Throughout the years investigated, the teachers had no access to any form of training neither to any form of specialized monitoring. We realize that there is still a concept of Intellectual Disability that makes difficult to "see" this student as a human being having learning opportunities. The aspects that interfere in the formation hinder the development of a pedagogical practice that meets the uniqueness of its customers and promotes a truly effective school inclusion, consistent with social rights proclaimed in this century. We believe in the irreversibility of the inclusive process initiated a few decades ago and that obstacles to the practice of teaching students with ID are visible and possible to overcome if they are turned into challenges for all those who compose the school, the municipal education system and those who build public policies for inclusive education / O presente trabalho se constitui numa pesquisa sobre pr?ticas pedag?gicas de professores que vivenciam o cotidiano escolar com alunos com Defici?ncia Intelectual (DI) nas suas turmas, consideradas inclusivas.

Studies have demonstrated that people with DS have a lower capacity for short-term memory (STM) and working memory (WM), which affects their capability to learn new words and to follow spoken instructions, specially when they involve multiple information or consecutive orders/orientations. It seems that the basis of the learning process, as it happens with language and mathematics comprehension and reasoning, relies in the STM and WM systems. Individuals with DS are increasingly included in mainstream education, and yet, very few researches have been conducted to investigate the influence of memory development and the type of enrollment (regular school and special school). This study investigated the relationship between the type of school enrollment with the performance on STM tests and also, the relationship of this performance with early stimulation (ES). The tests used in the first research were the digit span, free recall, word recognition and subtests of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children Third Edition (WISC-III). Individuals enrolled in the regular schools group had higher scores on the digit span test and the subtests of the WISC-III. In the free recall and recognition tests, no differences were found. This study indicates that the type of enrollment might influence the memory development of individuals with DS and clearly points the need for future investigations. In the second research, the tests used were the digit span, free word recall and subtests of the WISC-III. The test results showed better performance by adults that received ES before six months of age. The studies showed improvement in STM both in people who attended or were attending regular school, as well as those who benefited from ES before six months of age. However, some issues still need to be better understood. What is the relation between this stimulation with the individual s education? Since ES may reflect a greater family involvement with the individual, what is the role of emotional components derived from this involvement in the cognitive improvement? These and other questions are part of the continuity of this study / A s?ndrome de Down ? uma das causas mais freq?entes da defici?ncia intelectual, afetando um a cada 600 a 1.000 beb?s nascidos vivos.

Introduction: Relational Psychomotricity (PR) was developed in the 1970s by French physical education teachers Andr? Lapierre and Bernard Aucouturier. It is an educational practice that uses the symbolic game in the action of spontaneous play for the integral development and the autonomy of the subject. Objective: To analyze the process of inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in school physical education, through the PR educational practice. Methodology: This is a "participant" research in a non-probabilistic way, and a kind of sampling for convenience. Data were collected with a group of 36 students from the 7th grade of elementary school II of a municipal public school in Natal-RN, and having 3 students with intellectual disabilities. The collection instruments of this research were 1 SONY Cyber-shot digital camera, 2 NG-100 sports digital camcorders, Sampaio anamnesis (2010), the spontaneous reports of the students, the spontaneous and reflexive reports of the teachers. Eight physical education classes were held with the symbolic game of Relational Psychomotricity, once a week, during a two-month period. A qualitative analysis of the data was performed, including coding, decoding, interpretation and construction of the theoretical framework. Results: In the eight classes the inclusive process happened gradually in a spontaneous non-directive form, illustrated in the photographs and audiovisual. The students were able to perceive the pedagogical and / or social inclusion and to experience it. In the spontaneous and reflective reports of teachers, pedagogical and / or social inclusion occurred freely. Regarding the students' spontaneous reports, the contents of the students with intellectual disabilities were expressed in the relationship with other colleagues and teachers. Students with intellectual disabilities expressed their relationship with each other and with objects through graphics. Conclusion: The approach of Relational Psychomotricity as an experience of educational pedagogical practice in physical education classes allowed the inclusion of students with intellectual disabilities, providing them with the acceptance of the corporal, intellectual, moral and emotional differences and the comprehension of the relevance of the inclusive process.

According to recent researches, one of the biggest impediments has been the lack of teacher knowledge about the specifics of the teaching and learning process of these subjects. Supported by this thematic, our objective is to analyze the evaluation processes for students with intellectual disabilities and reflect on their process of elaboration and conceptual appropriation. The investigation is made up of two separate research projects, namely: (A) The reading and writing issue in the area of intellectual disability: what is the best teaching method? and (B) Schooling of students with intellectual disabilities: public policies, cognitive processes and learning evaluation, which funded this work (OBEDUC/CAPES). The study included two students with intellectual disabilities enrolled in different schools (one located in the city of Rio de Janeiro and the other in the municipality of Baixada Fluminense - RJ). We adopted qualitative research as the methodological procedure of our investigation, based on the principles of multiple case studies. We believe that research of this scale contributes towards the reflections needed to understand the singularities of the researched reality, and enable theoretical basis for intervention. Based on these assumptions, we used the participant observation, semi-structured and open interviews and the application of learning assessment tests as procedures and data collection instruments. For theoretical framework, we used the historical-cultural perspective of Vygotsky, in order to find, in his concepts, the necessary support to base our analysis on the education of the participating subjects. Under these aspects and after data analysis, the following results emerged: a) teaching mediation through interaction and clear statements of language is the main tool in the education of students, especially those with intellectual disabilities; b) evaluation mediated through collaborative activities is an instrument that permeates the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) of students; c) mediated teaching favours the conceptual elaboration by students with intellectual disabilities, and contributes to the development of higher mental functions; d) with the application of the tests, we verified that the mediated teacher?s intervention revealed paths for the student to appropriate a particular concept, so the evaluation itself was also a mediator of this process, showing new possibilities. At the end of this text, we present some reflections on changes in the evaluative perspective and the schooling processes of students with intellectual disabilities. In addition, this research points to paths that include learning possibilities for all / A presente disserta??o tem como tema de pesquisa a escolariza??o de alunos com defici?ncia intelectual.

It means a physical, pedagogical, organizational, and philosophical restructuration of the school. However this process is far away from the reality faced in the Brazilians schools, specially the public ones. With rare exceptions, our schools are not prepared to guarantee an effective participation and development in the school activities for our students with intellectual disability. Because of this reason and the urgency of a further approximation of the public policies of inclusion with the school reality, the objective of this research is to analyze the elaboration and implementation of the Individualized Educational Planning (IEP) for students with intellectual disability in a school of the municipal educational system of Nova Igua?u (state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), from its own curriculum. The investigation is inside the research project ?The schooling of students with intellectual disability: public policies, cognitive processes, and learning evaluations?, with the financial support of The Observatory Program of Education of CAPES. The qualitative research, based on methodological assumptions of the research-action was adopted as methodological procedure. For this purpose it was realized meetings with teachers to reflect about the implementation of the IEP (PEI) in the educational formation of the students with intellectual disability. Data collection procedures used the participant observation (with registry of field diary), documental analysis (files, reports), and semi structured meetings. As the theoretical referential, it was adopted the historical-cultural perspective of Vigotski. The data obtained showed the complexity and fragility which the process of schooling inclusion of these students has been realized in regular classes, as well as the remoteness and difficulty of a collaborative working possibility with the multifunctional resources teacher. It was also noticed that the traditional practices, which have no relation with the curriculum proposal, keep running in the daily activities of students with intellectual disability, making even harder their learning process and development. Concluding, it is important to emphasize the importance of the IEP (PEI), elaborated during the intervention, as an instrument which can help the inclusion of these students.
