Hur ska vi säkerställa arbetsmiljön vid distansarbete? : En studie om hur ledare använder digitala kommunikationsverktyg för att säkerställa arbetsmiljön

Problemformulering: Distansarbete bedöms bli en allt vanligare lösning för organisationer i framtiden. När medarbetarna arbetar hemifrån blir det dock svårare att upptäcka vilka eventuella brister som finns i arbetsmiljön. Tidigare forskning har inte fokuserat på hur digitala kommunikationsverktyg kan utnyttjas för att upptäcka brister i arbetsmiljön vid distansarbete, vilket gör att det finns ett kunskapsgap som denna studie ämnar bidra till. Syfte: Syftet med studien är att utveckla kunskap om vilka möjligheter och begränsningar ledare upplever med digitala kommunikationsverktyg och hur de använder verktygen för att säkerställa medarbetarnas arbetsmiljö vid distansarbete. Metod och material: Denna studie genomfördes med stöd av semistrukturerade intervjuer. Tio personer i olika ledarroller från varierande branscher intervjuades för att kunna besvara studiens syfte och två frågeställningar. Resultat: Resultatet visade att ledarna kunde säkerställa medarbetarnas psykosociala arbetsmiljö genom att använda olika kanaler som digitala kommunikationsverktyg erbjöd. De kanalerna var främst chatt och videomöten. Chatten möjliggjorde att ledarna på ett snabbt och smidigt sätt kunde kommunicera med sina medarbetare och fråga om deras hälsa. Videomöten var den kanalen som gav ledarna möjligheten att se medarbetarna vilket gjorde det enklare att få en bild av deras välmående. Vidare framkom det också att digitala kommunikationsverktyg inte räckte till för att säkerställa medarbetarnas fysiska arbetsmiljö. Ledarna kunde enbart uppmärksamma små detaljer, vilket inte var tillräckligt för att bedöma om medarbetarna hade en lämplig arbetsmiljö i hemmet ur ett fysiskt perspektiv. För att säkerställa den fysiska arbetsmiljön hade det behövts att medarbetarna gått runt och visat upp sin arbetsplats i hemmet med hjälp av kameran. Detta var dock inget som ledarna i denna studie förespråkade eftersom de ansåg att de inkräktade på den personliga sfären. / Problematization: Remote work is estimated to become an increasingly common solution for organizations in the future. However, when employees work from home it becomes more difficult to discover any shortcomings in the work environment. Previous research has not focused on how digital communication tools can be used to detect flaws in the work environment when working remotely, which means that there is a knowledge gap that this study intends to contribute to. Aim: The purpose of the study is to develop knowledge about what opportunities and limitations leaders experience with digital communication tools and how they use the tools to ensure the employees' work environment when working remotely. Method and materials: A qualitative deductive approach was used to answer the study’s two research questions. The primary data was conducted through ten semi-structured interviews with different leadership roles from various industries. Conclusions: The result showed that the leaders could ensure the employees psychosocial work environment by using different channels that digital communication tools offered. Those channels were mainly chat and video meetings. Chat made it possible for the leaders to quickly and easily communicate with their employees and ask about their health. Video meetings were the channel that gave the leaders the opportunity to see the employees, which made it easier to get a picture of their well-being. Furthermore, it also emerged that digital communication tools were not enough to ensure the employees' physical work environment. The leaders could only pay attention to small details, which was not enough to assess whether the employees had a suitable working environment at home from a physical perspective. In order to ensure the physical working environment, it would have been necessary for the employees to walk around and show their workplace at home with the help of the camera. However, this was not something that the leaders in this study advocated due to the employee’s personal sphere.

Las infovisualizaciones animadas y su influencia dentro de la transposición didáctica audiovisual

[ES] El objetivo de esta investigación es definir a una infovisualización animada y establecer una metodología de análisis para determinar la incidencia de cada uno de sus componentes dentro de una pieza audiovisual. Para ello, se integra un enfoque desde las dos vertientes de las cuales proviene el término: el grafismo informativo y el grafismo animado; lo que ofrece una perspectiva global del fenómeno. A partir de ahí, se establecen las bases conceptuales necesarias para extrapolar las propiedades comunes de lo informativo, del diseño y del audiovisual, e interpretarlos como un nuevo lenguaje que propone un mensaje concreto, claro, atractivo y efectivo para alcanzar una transposición didáctica entre el productor de contenido y su audiencia. Posteriormente se presenta un estudio de casos para comprobar la factibilidad de uso de la metodología, convirtiéndose en una propuesta para el desarrollo de la alfabetización visual aplicada al grafismo informativo en movimiento, área de continuo crecimiento y relevancia dentro de la comunicación. Al final, se despliegan nuevas líneas de investigación que permitan complementar el estudio y contribuyan a consolidar la pertinencia de este lenguaje. / [CA] Aquesta investigació pretén definir el concepte d'infovisualització animada i establir una metodologia d'anàlisi per a determinar la incidència de cadascun dels seus components dins d'una peça audiovisual. Adequarem un enfocament basat en els dos vessants de les quals prové el terme: el grafisme informatiu i el grafisme animat; el que ofereix una perspectiva global del fenomen. A partir d'ací, s'estableixen les bases conceptuals necessàries per a extrapolar les propietats comuns de l'informatiu, del disseny i de l'audiovisual, i interpretar-los com un nou llenguatge que proposa un missatge concret, clar, atractiu i efectiu per a aconseguir una transposició didàctica entre el productor de contingut i la seua audiència. An approach based on the two aspects from which the terms informative graphics and animated graphics come was applied. This approach offers a global perspective of the phenomenon. From there on, the necessary conceptual bases were established to extrapolate the common properties of the information content, its design and audiovisual, to interpret them as a new language. Then a concrete, clear, attractive and effective message was proposed to achieve a didactic transposition between the content producer and their audience. Subsequently, a case study was presented to verify the feasibility of using this methodology, which became a proposal for the development of visual literacy applied to informative graphics in motion. This is an area of continuous growth and relevance within communication. Improving the adoption of cloud computing by Small & Medium Scale Enterprise (SMEs in Nigeria

In a traditional business environment, companies set up their organisation’s IT data infrastructure, install their applications and carry out the maintenance and management of their infrastructures. Whereas Cloud computing removes the need for companies to set up own data centers and run enterprise applications. Cloud computing technology provides businesses with the advantage of on-demand access, agility, scalability, flexibility and reduced cost of computing. An appreciable increase is being observed in the acceptance and migration to this new IT model in developing economies. In Nigeria, it has been observed that there is a somewhat unimpressive rate of adoption of Cloud computing by the microfinance operators. This research investigates the reason for the slow adoption of Cloud computing by SMEs in Nigeria with special consideration to the Microfinance subsector and to develop a model for improving the adoption of cloud computing by microfinance organisations. The research was conducted using a qualitative research design method. Interview was the main data collection instrument and data collected was analysed using thematic content analysis method. The analysis of the study revealed that SMEs in Nigeria, with particular reference to microfinance subsector in Akwa Ibom State are yet fully to embrace cloud technology. It was discovered that most of the SMEs studied, has some level of reservation about cloud computing arising from not having appropriate education and enlightenment about the cloud economic offerings and potentials. From the outcome of the research, the researcher identified that most people’s concerns are as a result of lack of knowledge about cloud computing and so the researcher concluded that appropriate enlightenment by industry stakeholders, cloud service providers, cloud enthusiasts and even the government on the risks and overwhelming economic incentives of cloud computing as well as the provision of a monitored free trial services will encourage the adoption of cloud computing by SMEs. / College of Engineering, Science and Technology / M.Tech. Διερεύνηση των τεχνικών παραμέτρων για την μεγιστοποίηση της ποιότητας των παρεχομένων υπηρεσιών στα συστήματα MIMO

Στην παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία μελετάμε τα πλεονεκτήματα που επιφέρει η χρήση πολλαπλών κεραιών στον πομπό και στον δέκτη, κατά την μετάδοση, με στόχο την βελτίωση των παρεχομένων υπηρεσιών στο χρήστη. Στο Κεφάλαιο 1, γίνεται μια ιστορική αναδρομή των ασύρματων επικοινωνιών καθώς των σύγχρονων ασύρματων τεχνολογιών και κεραιών που χρησιμοποιούνται. Στη συνέχεια γίνεται μια αναφορά στις έννοιες του διαφορισμού, του κέρδους διάταξης και της χωρικής πολυπλεξίας οι οποίες συνδέονται άρρηκτα με τα συστήματα MIMO. Στο Κεφάλαιο 2, αναφερόμαστε σε όλα εκείνα τα χαρακτηριστικά που περιγράφουν το ασύρματο κανάλι και εξάγουμε την γραμμική σχέση εισόδου-εξόδου του ασύρματου καναλιού. Στην συνέχεια γίνεται μια ανάλυση των στοχαστικών μοντέλων περιγραφής του ασύρματου διαύλου διαλείψεων και πιο συγκεκριμένα των μοντέλων Rayleigh και Rice. Στο Κεφάλαιο 3 εξετάζουμε την αξιοπιστία διαφόρων τύπων κεραιοσυστημάτων, ως προς τον ρυθμό των ρυθμό των λανθασμένων συμβόλων στον δέκτη. Πιο συγκεκριμένα εξετάζεται η τεχνική Maximal Ratio Combining για τα συστήματα SIMO καθώς και του σχήματος Alamouti για τα συστήματα ΜISO. Συνεχίζοντας στα MIMO συστήματα αναλύουμε τις μεθόδους ισοστάθμισης για την ανάκτηση των δεδομένων, και πιο συγκεκριμένα τις τεχνικές Zero Forcing, Minimum Mean Square Error,V-Blast και καθώς και την βέλτιστη τεχνική Maximum Likelihood. Στο τελευταίο μέρος της εργασίας αναλύουμε τα πλεονεκτήματα των MIMO συστημάτων, ως προς την χωρητικότητα που προσφέρουν, σε στοχαστικά κανάλια διαλείψεων.Στη συνέχεια, γίνεται αναφορά στην μέθοδο SVD και στην αναπαράσταση του MIMO καναλιού από έναν αριθμό ανεξάρτητων SISO διαύλων. Κλείνοντας αναφέρουμε την μέθοδο βέλτιστης κατανομής ισχύος στις κεραίες του πομπού Water-filling, και στην περαιτέρω αύξηση της χωρητικότητας του διαύλου που προσφέρει. / In this diploma thesis we are investigating the benefits of using Multiple Input and Multiple Output antennas in information transmission, with final goal to improve Quality of Service. The first Chapter, includes a historical background of the wireless communications but also is a reference to the modern wireless and antenna technologies. Moreover, we introduce the definition of new concepts, such as diversity and array gain and also spatial multiplexing, which are closely connected with MIMO technology. In the second chapter, we introduce the characteristics which they are describe the wireless channel, while simultaneously we mention the linear input-output relationship of the wireless channel. Additionally, we analyze the stochastic wireless channel models, namely the Rayleigh and the Rician fading models. In the third chapter, we investigate the reliability of different types of antenna topologies, regarding the pace of the invalid symbols in the transmitter. More specifically, we examine the Maximal Ratio Combining and Alamouti technique, for SIMO and MISO systems respectively. The next step is to analyze the equalization methods, which are used in MIMO antennas, and more specifically are, Zero Forcing, Minimum Mean Square Error and V-Blast receivers, but also the optimal Maximum Likelihood equalizer. In the last part of this Thesis, we investigate the benefits of MIMO systems regarding the Capacity, in random channels. Also, a reference to the SVD method has been made,which we use to analyze the MIMO channel, in a number of parallel SISO channels. Lastly, we use the water-filling method to allocate, with the optimal way, the given power in the transmit antennas, a fact that leads to even greater Capacity gain.

[pt] A área de química do estado sólido ocupa uma posição cada vez mais importante nas atividades de pesquisa e desenvolvimento farmacêuticas. A compreensão das propriedades do estado sólido de um insumo farmacêutico ativo (IFA) mostra-se crítica no desenvolvimento de formulações em função de seus impactos na biodisponibilidade e solubilidade dos fármacos, sendo essencial para garantir o benefício terapêutico, otimizar o desenvolvimento e garantir a proteção da propriedade intelectual. Esta tese investiga indicadores científicos e tecnológicos na área de química do estado sólido utilizando ferramentas de ciência dos dados a partir de publicações científicas e depósitos de patentes, visando contribuir para o aumento da competitividade da indústria farmoquímica e farmacêutica brasileira e de outros mercados emergentes. A partir da utilização de ferramentas de ciência dos dados é proposta uma metodologia baseada em técnicas de text mining associadas a relações fuzzy. Essa metodologia de identificação de competências específicas aplicada na área de química do estado sólido tem como estudo de caso a descoberta de uma nova forma polimórfica para o IFA acetato de dexametasona. Os resultados revelam que existem competências científicas em química do estado sólido no Brasil. Contudo, quando comparada com a interação universidade-empresa mundial, a indústria farmoquimica e farmacêutica local perde em estágio de competitividade e desenvolvimento. Por outro lado, os resultados demonstram a robustez da metodologia e sua capacidade de identificar pesquisadores em área específicas, oferecendo soluções para apoio a tomada de decisão e identificação de pesquisadores relevantes para o desenvolvimento do setor farmoquímico e farmacêutico. / [en] The solid-state chemistry area has received increased attention in the pharmaceutical research and development activities. The comprehension of the solid-state properties of an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) is critical in the development of formulations due to their impact on the bioavailability and solubility of the final drug, being essential to ensure therapeutic benefit, optimize development and allow a proper intellectual property protection. This research investigates science and technology indicators in the solid-state chemistry area using data science tools applied to scientific publications and patent documents, aiming to contribute to the increase of the competitiveness of the pharmaceutical industry in Brazil and in other emerging markets. Through data science tools, a methodology based on text mining techniques associated to fuzzy relations is proposed. This methodology for identifying specific competencies is applied in the solid-state chemistry area exploring a case study of the discovery of a new polymorphic form of the API dexamethasone acetate. The results reveal the existence of scientific competencies in solid-state chemistry in Brazil. However, when compared to the global university-company interaction, the local pharmaceutical industry shows a lower stage of competitiveness and development. On the other hand, the results indicates the robustness of the methodology and its ability to identify researchers in specific areas, offering solutions to support the decision making and identification of researchers relevant to the development of the pharmaceutical sector.

"Hallå, hör ni mig nu?" : En studie om förutsättningar för demokratiskt deltagande under digitala årsmöten inom ideella föreningar / "Hello, can you hear me now?" : A study about conditions regarding democratic participation during digital annual meetings within non-profit organizations

Denna studie undersöker hur demokratisk organisering i det svenska civilsamhället har påverkats av den hastiga digitaliseringen i samband med covid-19. Studien är av induktiv karaktär och syftar till att studera förutsättningarna för demokratiskt deltagande under digitala årsmöten i ideella föreningar. Den empiri som ligger till grund för undersökningen är kvalitativa intervjuer samt en kvantitativ enkätstudie. Urvalsgrupperna är personer som har suttit som mötesordförande under både digitala och fysiska årsmöten samt förtroendevalda och anställda som har arrangerat eller deltagit vid årsmöten under covid-19. Studien visar att det finns ett samband mellan demokratiska förutsättningar under digitala årsmöten och den digitala kompetensen inom organisationen. Vidare att förberedelser och organisationskultur är viktigare för de demokratiska förutsättningarna än om årsmötet arrangeras via fysiska eller digitala kanaler. Resultatet visar att lärdomar från digitaliseringen av årsmöten under covid-19 kan leda till ökade förutsättningar för deltagande och jämlikt inflytande. Empirin pekar på en framtida utveckling där majoriteten av organisationerna i studien kommer återgå till fysiska årsmöten eller hybridmöten. Hybridmöten, där vissa medlemmar deltar fysiskt och andra digitalt, rekommenderas inte då de kan skapa problem gällande jämlikt deltagande och inflytande under årsmötet. / This study examines how democratic organization of operations within Swedish non-profit organizations (NPO) has been affected because of rapid digitalization following covid-19. The study is inductive in nature and aims to study the prerequisites regarding democratic participation during annual meetings. The empirical data that creates the foundation for this research is based on qualitative interviews and a quantitative survey. The selection group studied comprises persons that have acted as chairman during both digital and physical annual meetings, as well as board members and employees within NPO's that have arranged or participated in annual meetings during covid-19. The study shows that there is a correlation between democratic prerequisites during digital annual meetings and the digital competence within the organization. Furthermore, preparations are shown to be more important regarding the democratic prerequisites than whether the annual meeting is conducted via physical or digital platforms. The results indicate that knowledge gained from the digitization of annual meetings during covid-19 could lead to better possibilities regarding participation and equal influence. Empirical data points out a possible future development where the organizations participating in the study will revert to using physical and hybrid meetings when conducting annual meetings. Hybrid meetings, where some participate physically and others digitally, are not to be recommended due to problems regarding equal participation and influence during the annual meeting.

De främsta möjligheterna innefattar att medarbetarna kan arbeta hemifrån eller på plats, vilket bidrar till effektivitet, då tiden kan användas till arbetsuppgifterna istället för att resa. Respondenterna menar att detta är framtidens sätt att arbeta för organisationer. Hybridledarskapet bör hantera fyra viktiga beståndsdelar; Tydlighet, Tillit, Teknik och Team. Hybridledaren måste kommunicera ut en tydlig målbild, upprätthålla en öppen och kontinuerlig tvåvägskommunikation, bidra till hög social närvaro samt främja gruppdynamiken på den digitala plattformen. För att göra detta bör hybridledaren ha ett ökat fokus på medarbetarnas sociala tillfredsställelse och välmående via de digitala plattformarna, genom användandet av kamera och regelbundna one-to-one–möten.

Samtalsledares erfarenheter av digitala nätverksträffar : med fokus på kommunikation, ur ett delaktighetsperspektiv / Moderators' experiences of digital meetings for networking : highlighting communication, participation and engagement

Under våren 2021 har det organiserade lärande nätverket för chefer, Nätverk för engagerat ledarskap i Region Jönköpings län, haft digitala träffar genom mötesplattformen Cisco eller Skype i stället för fysiska träffar p.g.a. de rådande samhällsrestriktionerna. Rapporten belyser samtalsledares och nätverks-deltagares mellanmänskliga interaktion och deras anpassningar till digitala arbetssätt, under en tidsperiod där digitaliseringen inom hälso- och sjukvården påskyndats av covid-19-pandemin. Undersökningens syfte är att beskriva samtalsledares erfarenheter av digitala nätverksträffar (vid Nätverket för engagerat ledarskap i Region Jönköpings län) med fokus på kommunikation och vad de beskriver för möjliga förbättringar, utifrån ett delaktighetsperspektiv. Samtliga 40 samtalsledare blev tillfrågade att medverka i undersökningen, varav sex (6) gjorde intresseanmälan. En av dem avbokade dagen innan och fem (5) genomförde gruppintervjun digitalt på mötesplattformen Zoom. Intervjun spelades in efter samtycke och varade 60 minuter. Materialet bearbetades först genom en förenklad induktiv tematisk analys, med stöd av en analysguide inspirerad av Braun och Clarke (2006). Därefter beskrevs analysresultatet utifrån ICF:s första nivå för att belysa resultatet ur ett delaktighetsperspektiv. Fyra teman framkom; digitala utmaningar, mellanmänskliga interaktioner, framtidens behov och ”kriterier” för framgångsrikt digitalt nätverkande. Ett stort problem vid de digitala nätverksträffarna har varit bristande eller fördröjd feedback. Ett annat problem har varit svårigheter med sammanhållningen och att skapa tillit i det digitala rummet. Examensarbetet har gett upphov till förbättringsförslag för ett framgångsrikt digitalt nätverkande ur ett delaktighetsperspektiv. Digitala nätverksträffar kan ses som ett alternativ eller komplement till fysiska träffar även i framtiden. Kanske kan vi framöver hitta det ”bästa receptet” för digitala nätverksträffar för en effektiv och jämlik hälso- och sjukvårdsorganisation? / During the spring of 2021, the organized learning network for managers, Network for Engaged Leadership in Region Jönköping County, has held digital meetings in applications provided by Cisco and Skype instead of having physical meetings due to the current societal restrictions. The report highlights interpersonal interaction between moderators and networking participants, and their adaptations to digital ways of working, in a time where digitalization in healthcare has been accelerated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of the survey is to describe moderators' experiences with digital networking meetings (at the Network for Engaged Leadership in Region Jönköping County). The study focuses on communications and how improvements can be made to increase the participation and the engagement of the participants. All 40 moderators within the network were asked to participate in the survey, of which six (6) made expressions of interest. One of them canceled the day before and five (5) participated in the group interview digitally using the application Zoom. The interview was recorded with consent and lasted 60 minutes. The material was first processed through a simplified inductive thematic analysis, supported by a guide inspired by Braun and Clarke (2006). The results were then described, using the first level of the ICF, in terms of participation. Four themes were deduced: digital challenges, interpersonal interactions, future needs, and "criteria" for successful digital networking. The lack or delay of feedback has caused major issues at the meetings. Other difficulties have been the lack of affinity and trust within the group. This study has resulted in several proposals for improving digital networking by increasing accessibility. Digital networking meetings can be seen as an alternative or a complement to physical meetings. in English with English title of the thesis: Language of SMS and French as a foreign language The central topic of the thesis is the language of short text messages (SMS) and/or the one of chat and their application in teaching of French as a foreign language (fr. abbreviation F.L.E., français langue étrangère). The aim is to answer the question so as to how to grasp linguo- didactically this modern sociolect of young users (not only) of French, typical of written communication via digital technologies, with the purpose of the purely practical use in the classes of French. Firstly, a linguistic description will be given in order to understand the mechanisms of the explored language code not only in French, but also partly in Czech and English, as well as the determination of the position of the SMS language as a socio-cultural phenomenon in the present-day French. The following research will be dealing with the identification and the analysis of the teaching activities using the SMS language found in approximately fifty text books of French intended for the learners of levels A1, A2, B1, B2.
