Piratkopiering i Sverige : Hur fildelare själva reflekterar över sina handlingarAgic, Admir January 2010 (has links)

How to avoid Copenhagen : An experimental economic approach to climate negotiationsSzabó, Josef January 2011 (has links)
This study got its origin in the failed climate negotiations in the Copenhagen 2009 summit. By conducting a public good game, with participants from China and Sweden, my study indicates that previous studies on public good games can predict the outcome of the game to a quit large extent even though most of my statistical tests came out statistically insignificant. My study also indicates that by framing the game as climate negotiations there were no statistical significant difference on the level of contributions in comparison to the unframed versions of the game. The awareness of the issues with emissions, global warming and other environmental problems are pretty high but even so when push comes to shove gains in the short run are prioritized to gains in the long run. There are however hypothetical willingness to come to term with the environmental issues. The results of the study indicate that the outcome of the Copenhagen summit can be avoidable but would need additional experiments made on cultural differences and behavior.

The analysis of competitive strategies of beer market in Taiwan -Take TTL as an exampleHuang, Kuan-Jung 28 April 2010 (has links)
Because the beer market in Taiwan had been opened up, the monopoly, Taiwan Beer, has been facing intense competition. However, state-owned Taiwan Beer uses flexible strategies to respond to these challenges and always is the leading company in the industry.
This study tried to use Game Theory to analyze the competitive strategy of Taiwan Beer in different period of time and find out the relationships between Taiwan Beer and competitor. At the beginning, this research used Game theory to describe the competition in the beer industry. Then, it used Prisoner's Dilemma, the Beach Ice Cream Selling Model, entry-deny strategies, multi-brand strategy and Co-opetition to explain Taiwan Beer¡¦s interaction with others.
Finally, this study did not see the competition as the only way that can help companies survive. When the company is thinking about how to defeat others, it also has to be thinking about how to cooperate with others to derive more advantages.

noneChen, Jia-Tay 14 July 2004 (has links)
This research is about using the term ¡§realism¡¨ to study on the relationship across the Taiwan straits. After the Gulf War, Mainland China has started the revolutions in military affairs. Their think of military strategy was from ¡§Conquer Limited Way¡¨ to ¡§Conquer High Technology Limited Way¡¨. The People¡¦s Liberation Army has become more modernized, buying fighter planes, missiles, on board radar, electronic war equipment from foreign countries, and they also have developed J-10 fighters, mid and long range ballistic missile. The People¡¦s Liberation Army will finish the first step of the revolutions in military affairs in 2005, by that time SU-27 and SU-30 will be fully capable for combat. J-10 will began mass production and then Mainland China will have the ability to assault Taiwan. The military power will become unbalance across the Taiwan Straits.
When the revolution in military affairs is completed by People¡¦s Liberation Army, People¡¦s Liberation Army will be fully trained for combat, which includes electronic warfare equipment, Air Combat Command, fighter planes, pilots, on-board equipment, missile etc. With the economic take-off Mainland China has increased their defense budget every year. Under this condition the military power can decide the stabilization of the Taiwan Strait. In order to balance the power military of People¡¦s Liberation Army, Taiwan has to purchase long range detect radar, electronic equipment and PAC III missile. According to the view of ¡§security dilemma¡¨ both side of Taiwan Strait have to purchase modern weapons from foreign country to defence itself, this in turn drives to arm race. So Taiwan has to use its advantages, such as the quality of pilot and performed fighter planes. to face the People¡¦s Liberation Army. For national security Taiwan should concern on the mid and long term Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle (UCAV) and long term weapon development program.

Kvinnofridskränkning - ett stort samhällsproblem : En fallstudie av hur ett par kommuner i Kronobergs län hanterar kvinnovåldsproblematikenStrömblad, Sara January 2006 (has links)

Equal opportunity issues are considered to have a clear position in Swedish policy and the making of Swedish gender policy is considered a precursor. Though many experts and scientists have shed light on the fact that the issue of women assault has had a less stable development than other gender issues such as child care, the labour market etc. within the Swedish society, and that it does not attract the wide political support it needs. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the Municipalities', in the county of Kronoberg, policy on the issue of women assault within their local policies of equality. In my thesis I have chosen a theoretical framework that is built on a dilemma of justice based on three different dimensions; the extent, content and influence of the local policies. To clarify I have subsequently summarized these three as ideal types politics of recognition and politics of redistribution.

I came to the conclusion that the prerequisites for the issue of women assault and its consequences to attract attention would increase if the issue was more frequently debated amongst the local politicians in the county. Women assault is not just a serious societal problem but also an obstacle for a sustainable societal development.

Networks of Entrepreneurs Revisited. Dilemmatic Settings and Dysfunctional Effects during Company Foundation ProcessesFried, Andrea, Knoll, Michael, Duschek, Sigrid 06 August 2006 (has links) (PDF)
Many entrepreneurial research studies underline implicitly the positive evidence of a connection between the economic success and networks. However, any social relationship which an entrepreneur maintains does not necessarily have positive effects and consequently does not represent a capital to the new established organization. Dysfunctional effects result from the circumstance that the different actors have different, sometimes contrary requirements on networks. The aim of our article is to explore dilemmatic constellations within networks and to enable entrepreneurial founders or consultants to face the related challenges.

The Implicit Link of Luxury and Self-Interest: The Influence of Luxury Objects on Social Motivation and Cooperative BehaviourChen, Angel 30 October 2015 (has links)
Despite growing concerns for environmental crisis and the recent economic downturns, worldwide appetite for luxury goods has remained stable and has even grown dramatically in some countries. Luxury goods implicitly convey certain meanings and norms. What are psychological and behavioural consequences of exposure to luxuries? In this proposal, I argue that exposure to luxury goods increases cognitive accessibility of constructs relate to self-interest and subsequently affects social judgments and behaviour. I aim to establish a theoretical conjunction between (a) anthropology’s study of material culture, which focuses on material evidence in attributing human cultures, and (b) psychology’s priming technique, which examines the effects of activated cognitive representations on psychological responding. Accordingly, three studies were conducted to investigate the implicit link of luxury and self-interest. The results showed that exposure to luxury primes automatically activated mental associations relate to self-interest and subsequently increased one’s propensity to allocate more resources to oneself relative to another person (study 1), caused some harvesters to defect in a multi-stage N-person commons dilemma (study 2), but did not necessarily induce unethical behaviour aimed to harm others (study 3). Research about the psychological effects of luxury goods are important because luxuries are implicitly embedded in institutional settings and organizational environments in which negotiations are typically conducted and resource allocation decisions are made. / Graduate / 0621 / 0623 / 0451 / angelch@uvic.ca

Lärares dilemmanRäihä, Helge January 2008 (has links)
The topic of the present dissertation is teachers’ everyday dilemmas and the use of language to deal with these dilemmas. The concept of dilemma is compared to the concept of risk and the concept of paradox. The theoretical background consists of sociological systems theory and linguistic pragmatic theory. The empirical data consist of observations of teachers in everyday situations. The theoretical and empirical approaches are used to illuminate each other. Teachers’ ways of dealing with dilemmas are described as use of linguistic resources. Results show that dilemmas are complex social phenomenon that include global system media, trust and language use. Teachers face dilemmas as unpredicted clashes of conflicting expectations. The conflicting expectations come into view as global system media and local trust. The resources required in the constructing of trust and rationality shows how teachers are dealing with dilemmas. Teachers’ ways of dealing with dilemmas come into view as use of linguistic resources for logic and modality.
