Neste trabalho estudamos diferentes noções de diferenciabilidade para funções definidas na esfera unitária S^n-1 de R^n, n>=2. Em relação à derivada usual, encontramos condições necessárias e/ou suficientes para que uma função seja diferenciável até uma ordem fixada. Para as outras duas, a derivada forte de Laplace-Beltrami e a derivada fraca, apresentamos algumas propriedades básicas e procuramos condições que garantam a equivalência destas com a diferenciabilidade usual. / In this work we study different notions of differentiability for functions defined on the unit sphere S^n-1 of R^n, n>=2. With respect to the usual derivative, we find necessary and/or sufficient conditions in order that a function be differentiable up to a fixed order. As for the other two, the strong Laplace-Beltrami derivative and the weak derivative, we present some basic properties about them and search for conditions that guarantee the equivalence of them with the previous one.

The main motivation of this doctoral thesis is to extend the current knowledge about the tribological behavior of a precipitation-hardenable (PH) austenitic stainless steel (SAE XEV-F or DIN 1.4882), used for manufacturing exhaust valves for internal combustion engines in passenger cars. For this purpose, dry sliding laboratory tests were carried out using this steel and other steels, mainly austenitic and martensitic, used as model materials for the comparative characterization of wear and friction. Experimental tests were conducted using an SRV®4 tribometer in a ball-on-disc configuration with reciprocating movement, in which the discs were the samples and the balls the counter-bodies. Four kinds of steels were tested: a) AISI 310, b) SAE XEV-F, c) AISI H13, and d) Nitrided SAE XEV-F. The ball was made of AISI 52100 bearing steel. The tests were conducted at room temperature and fixed conditions of time (sliding distance) (up to 73.2 m), load (100 N), frequency (10 Hz) and stroke (2mm). Wear was evaluated by means of mass loss in the disc and the ball, and post examination of the worn surfaces. Post examination was conducted using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), coherence correlation interferometry (CCI), and X-Ray diffraction (XRD). Wear debris resulting from tribological interaction were also investigated using SEM and XRD. Additionally, the friction coefficient was measured. High speed filming and interrupted tests were also performed at specific sliding distances. This work reports a severe-to-mild wear transition occurring during the first stage of tribological interaction (running-in) and its relation to the load distribution variation at the interface throughout the tribological tests. The wear transition was observed in different steel-on-steel tribosystems in ball-on-disc contact configuration and occurred due to the combined effects of two factors: a) the contact pressure reduction, due to the increase of nominal contact area caused by wear; and b) subsurface strain hardening (when relevant). The pressure/distance variation was determined experimentally and modeled empirically. Subsurface strain hardening was observable (and measurable) mainly the austenitic steels. Significant differences in wear (and friction) were observed between homogeneous (monophasic) steels and the heterogeneous (multiphasic) SAE XEV-F valve steel. Wear in the homogeneous steels presented an inverse correlation with hardness. Wear on the AISI 310 presented non-linear wear rates for a significant portion of the test. Wear on the SAE XEV-F valve steel was pronounced (even in the mild regime) due to a combined effect of two factors: a) formation of hard debris, which induced an abrasive component to wear by relative sliding, and b) subsurface NbC fracture, which markedly affected the material removal due to plastic deformation in the surrounding matrix. Wear of the nitrided SAE XEV-F steel was lower than that of the non-nitrided samples by nearly two orders of magnitude. The benefits of nitriding in the SAE XEV-F were two-fold: a) an increased surface hardness, and b) the prevention of NbC fracture and detachment, which results in even higher wear resistance. / A principal motivação desta tese é ampliar o conhecimento atual sobre o comportamento tribológico de um aço inoxidável austenítico endurecível por precipitação (PH), o SAE XEV-F (ou DIN 1.4882), utilizado para a fabricação de válvulas de exaustão de motores de combustão interna para carros de passageiros. Para este propósito, foram realizados ensaios laboratoriais de deslizamento a seco usando este aço e outros, principalmente aços austeníticos e martensíticos, usados como materiais modelo para a caracterização comparativa do desgaste e do atrito. Os ensaios experimentais foram conduzidos usando um tribômetro SRV®4 em uma configuração esfera-disco com movimento alternado, em que os discos foram as amostras e as esferas são os contracorpos. Foram ensaiados quatro tipos de aços: a) AISI 310, b) SAE XEV-F, c) AISI H13, e d) SAE XEV-F nitretado. A esfera era feita de aço para rolamento AISI 52100. Os ensaios foram realizados a temperatura ambiente e usando condições fixas de tempo (distância total percorrida até 73.2 m), carga normal (100 N), frequência (10 Hz) e amplitude da oscilação (2 mm). O desgaste foi avaliado por meio de perda de massa, tanto do disco quanto da esfera, e exame das superfícies desgastadas utilizando microscopia eletrônica de varredura (MEV), interferometria de correlação de coerência (ICC) e difração de raios-X (DRX). Os debris de desgaste resultantes da interação tribológica também foram investigados usando MEV e DRX. Adicionalmente, a evolução do coeficiente de atrito foi analisada. Também foram realizadas filmagens de alta velocidade e ensaios interrompidos em tempos de deslizamento específicos. Este trabalho reporta uma transição de desgaste severo para moderado que ocorre durante as a primeira fase da interação tribológica (running-in) e sua relação com a variação da carga na interface durante os ensaios tribológicos. A transição de desgaste foi observada em diferentes tribo-sistemas de aço-contra-aço na configuração esfera-plano e ocorreu principalmente por efeitos combinados de dois fatores: a) a redução da pressão de contato, devida ao aumento da área nominal causada pelo desgaste; e b) o encruamento subsuperficial (quando relevante). A variação pressão/distância foi determinada experimentalmente e modelada empiricamente. Encruamento por deformação subsuperficial foi observável (e medível) principalmente nos aços austeníticos. Foram observadas diferenças significativas no desgaste (e atrito) entre os aços homogêneos (monofásicos) e o aço de válvula SAE XEV-F, heterogêneo (multifásico). O desgaste nos aços homogêneos apresentou uma correlação inversa com a dureza. O desgaste no aço válvula SAE XEV-F foi pronunciado (mesmo no regime de desgaste moderado) devido a um efeito combinado de dois fatores: a) a formação de debris duros, o que induziu uma componente abrasiva ao desgaste por deslizamento relativo, e b) a fratura subsuperficial do NbC, o que afetou significativamente a remoção de material devida à deformação plástica da matriz. O desgaste do aço nitretado SAE XEV-F foi menor que o das amostras não tratadas em quase duas ordens de grandeza. Os benefícios da nitretação no aço válvula SAE XEV-F foram dois: a) o aumento da dureza da superfície, e b) a prevenção da fratura e desprendimento de NbC, o que resulta em uma resistência de desgaste ainda maior.

In search of an understanding for this process, we adopted the interactionist perspective of language, considering the statements as being part of a chain of past, present and future sayings that interact dialogically. This study was held based on the theory of Mikhail Bakhtin and his Circle (1976, 1981, 2004, 2010) by choosing a methodology which prioritized the study of statements of the business sphere by linking them with their determining socio-economic structure as well as the particularities of its sphere of ideological production. The Motivational Speech, as an element that contributes to the ideological construction of human subjectivity, has the aim of molding a successful human being, who is fully dedicated to his work, and that is always looking for professional recognition. The ideology of motivation teaches that working is a virtue, that professional success dignifies men and that their happiness and fulfillment can only be achieved through their total dedication and loyalty to companies, thus acting as a set of rules that hides behind an apparent rational coherence, but in the background is made up of silences that legitimize the ideology of the ruling class. / Esta pesquisa tem como temática o Discurso Motivacional da esfera empresarial. Nossas experiências profissionais nos levaram a um contato constante com os gêneros discursivos Palestra Motivacional e Manual Paradidático Empresarial, gerando, como consequência, certas inquietações, as quais culminaram na realização de um estudo sistematizado desse tema que teve como principal objetivo investigar as contradições que constituem o Discurso Motivacional da esfera empresarial para, assim, compreender a maneira como o signo linguístico ideológico reflete e refrata a realidade ao mesmo tempo em que esta é transforamada por ele. Em busca de um entendimento desse processo, adotamos a perspectiva interacionista de linguagem, compreendendo os enunciados como parte de uma cadeia de dizeres passados, presentes e futuros que interagem dialogicamente. Utilizamos como aporte teórico pressupostos de Mikhail Bakhtin e seu Círculo (1976; 1981; 2004; 2010), optando por uma metodologia que priorizasse o estudo dos enunciados da esfera empresarial a partir de seu vínculo com a estrutura socioeconômica, assim como considerando a relação existente entre esses enunciados e as particularidades de sua esfera ideológica de produção. Projeto de investigação transdiciplinar com ênfase nas atuais abordagens dialógicas estabelecidas entre arte e esfera pública. Discute o estatuto contemporâneo da Arte Pública e decorrentes hibridizações bem como do museu como espaço de investigação e interlocução artística, com base em ações e experiências processuais e colaborativas. Desenvolve procedimentos inspirados nas práticas museais, tendo os imaginários urbanos como território de análise, confi gurando novas arqueologias da memória urbana contemporânea. Do espetáculo à experiência da cidade, passa-se às diferenças entre visualidade e visibilidade, passa-se da cidade ao lugar. Opera-se uma distinção entre visualidade e visibilidade, entre recepção e percepção, entre comunicação e informação. Em todas essas diferenças se produzem metamorfoses do olhar. / Transdisciplinary research project focused on contemporary dialogic aproach based on art and public sphere. It discusses the role of contemporary Public Arte and current hybridizations as well as the museum as a research\'s space and artistic conversation. It develops procedures inspired on museum practices and it has the urban imaginaries as territories of analyses, confi gurating new archeologys of contemporary urban memory. From the spectacle to the city\'s experience, it pass through differences betwenn visuality and visibility, the city and the site. It operates a distinction between visuality and visibility, reception and perception, communication and information. In all those differences metamorphosys of the look are produced.

A tese aborda a comunicação estatal pró-ativa como garantia de direitos constitucionais em Estados Democráticos de Direito. Para tanto, apresenta excertos jurídicos da Teoria do Estado, o conceito de público segundo disciplinas das Ciências Sociais, com destaque para a publicidade estatal habermasiana, chegando às diversas reflexões dos pesquisadores italianos sobre a comunicação pública, suas subdivisões e modelos. Desses modelos resulta a sugestão de uma proposta passível de aplicação no Brasil e em outros países da América do Sul, particularmente Colômbia e Venezuela, para uma comunicação estatal pró-ativa capaz de garantir direitos fundamentais nas suas sociedades, se possível por meio de emendas constitucionais. / The thesis focuses on States proactive communication as a guarantee of constitutional rights in Democratic States. To this matter, presents legal excerpts from State Theory, the concept of Public based on Social Sciences disciplines, highlighting States propaganda as Habermas posits it, reaching several reflections of Italian researchers on public communication, its subdivisions and models. From these models originated a suggestion of a proposal applicable to Brazil and other South American countries, particularly Colombia and Venezuela, of a proactive State communication capable of guaranteeing fundamental rights in their societies, if possible through constitutional amendments.

Ao promover uma reflexão fundamentada em paradigmas das Ciências Sociais aplicadas e da Teoria da Complexidade, no intuito de elucidar caminhos das práticas em Comunicação Social e da Cultura Organizacional, a dissertação estabeleceu percursos que envolveram um mapeamento bibliográfico, relacionado a temas como Complexidade, Terceiro Setor e Comunicação Organizacional, pesquisa de campo junto à organizações sociais e entrevistas semiestruturadas e em profundidade com profissionais da imprensa. / The research aims to analyze the thematic scheduling process of social organizations located in the city of Juiz de Fora - MG, in the Minas Tribune newspaper. It presents the scene of activities of these institutions, power balls and the role of social communication in the media space. Seeks to situate this specific context, inserted within the third sector. It also aims to broaden the understanding of the contemporary situation, permeated by issues related to social issues, the role of the state and improvement of sectoral policies guiding the action of these entities. By promoting a reflection based on paradigms of social sciences applied and Complexity Theory, in order to elucidate ways of practices in Communication and Organizational Culture, the dissertation established pathways involving a mapping bibliographic mapping, related to issues such as complexity, third Sector and Organizational Communication, field research by the social organizations and semi-structured interviews and in depth with media professionals.

O conceito de representação é colocado em foco no eixo temático da democracia através de uma análise acerca da teoria participacionista e da teoria deliberacionista, apresentadas como possibilidades de incremento da democracia representativa. As modalidades de participação foram enquadradas sob a ótica da atuação on-line e a democracia deliberativa tem expressão, para a pesquisa, no conceito habermasiano de esfera pública. Estabelece-se uma reflexão acerca do conceito de sociedade em rede e suas implicações na conformação de uma esfera pública no espaço virtualizado, em confluência com a prerrogativa da participação individual. Configura-se, então, um quadro sociotemporal da oferta de mecanismos digitais voltados à participação política individual on-line no Brasil. Abordam-se, primeiramente, iniciativas advindas de entidades e organizações da esfera civil, com a exemplificação de dois modelos: o site Votenaweb e o componente on-line da campanha pela Lei da Ficha Limpa, capitaneado pela Avaaz. Ao abordar, especificamente, a interface entre Estado e sociedade no âmbito da institucionalização da participação, a tese parte da conformação do cidadão individual e de seu papel de destaque nas propostas disponibilizadas pelo aparato governamental no percurso em questão. À luz de tal premissa, é analisada a plataforma Dialoga Brasil. Visando amplificar a abordagem, coloca-se este objeto em perspectiva com um outro mecanismo de participação digital, também consolidado num regime democrático; analisa-se, para tanto, o sistema de petições on-line da Assembleia da República de Portugal. De forma geral, confirmando a hipótese principal, conclui-se que os objetos analisados se encontram inseridos na estruturação de um percurso de ampliação da oferta de mecanismos digitais voltados para a participação individual. Verifica-se que os dois objetos analisados, considerando-se seu potencial e seus limites, contribuem como incrementos da participação na democracia representativa e promovem uma maior aproximação entre sociedade civil e instâncias governamentais, contando o peticionamento on-line português com uma estruturação mais sistemática como mecanismo de participação, inclusive em função de estar estabelecido por um período mais longo do que a plataforma brasileira analisada. Na relação contemporânea estabelecida entre Internet e política, com foco na participação individual institucionalizada, faz-se a ressalva, a partir da abordagem desta pesquisa, de que as novas modalidades on-line devem se estabelecer em consonância com outros mecanismos coletivos e organizacionais, integrados num contexto sistêmico, para que não se configurem como experiências isoladas. / The present study focuses on the context of the structuring on offering institutionalized political participation channels for citizens through digital mechanisms. The representation concept is brought into focus in the thematic axis of democracy through an analyse about participationist theory and deliberacionist theory, presented as possibilities to increase the representative democracy. The modalities of participation were framed from the perspective of the online performance and the deliberative democracy has expression, for the research, in Haberman‘s concept of the public sphere. It establishes a reflection about the network society concept and its implications in the formation of a public sphere in the virtualized space, in confluence with the prerogative of individual participation. Configures than, a sociotemporal framework of the offering of digital mechanisms aimed to online individual political participation in Brazil. Approaches, firstly, initiatives arising from entities and organizations of the civil sphere, with exemplification of to models: the Votenaweb website and the online component of the campaign by the Ficha Limpa law, led by Avaaz. When addressing specifically the interface between State and society within the institutionalized participation, the thesis of the conformation of the individual citizen and his role of featured in the proposals available by the government apparatus in the course in question. In light of this premise, it is analyzed the Dialoga Brazil platform. In order to amplify the approach, arises this object in perspective with another digital participation mechanism, also consolidated in a democratic system. Analyses therefore, the online petition system of the Assembly of the Republic of Portugal. In general, confirming the main hypothesis, it is concluded that the analyzed objects are inserted in the structure of an expansion path offering focused digital mechanisms for individual participation. It is noted that the two objects analyzed, considering its potential and its limits, contributes as increments of the participation in a representative democracy and promote a closer approach between civil society and government bodies, counting the petitioning online portuguese with a more systematic structure as a mechanism for participation, including in living function established for a longer period than the brazilian platform analyzed. In a contemporary relation established between Internet and politics focusing on institutionalized individual participation, it is made the reservation, from the approach of this research, that the new online arrangements should be established in line with other collective and organizational mechanisms, integrated in a systemic context, so they do not configure as isolated experiences.

[pt] Em um cenário protagonizado no mundo digital, diversos tipos de dispositivos se tornaram ferramentas vitais para o registro de eventos e notícias, usados pela sociedade, inclusive a brasileira, para o compartilhamento de informações e para promoverem um maior grau de participação e engajamento em questões de interesse público. Esta contribuição torna-se mais evidente com o uso de redes sociais e plataformas de consulta pública na Rede representativas de uma esfera pública conectada e com potencial democrático significativo. Observando o engajamento político-democrático na esfera pública online, pretende-se investigar o potencial e os limites deste novo espaço como garantidor do fluxo comunicacional de questões públicas. Essa investigação pauta-se na busca pela compreensão da efetiva eficácia em se permitir que o povo tenha mais voz e ferramentas de mobilização e pressão à sua disposição, mas também, no vetor oposto, que o sistema político busque maior legitimidade e transparência perante a sociedade através de ferramentas digitais. / [en] In a scenario set in the digital world, many types of devices have become vital tools for registering events and news, used by the society, including Brazil, to share information and to promote a greater degree of participation and engagement in public interest issues. This contribution becomes more evident with the use of social networks and public consultation platforms on the Internet, representative of a connected public sphere with substancial democratic potential. Observing the political democratic engagement in the online public sphere, we intend to investigate the potential and limits of this new space as provider of the communication flow for public issues. This research aims to understand the actual effectiveness in allowing citizens to have more political voice and mobilization and pressure tools at their disposal, and in the opposite vector, how the political system seeks greater legitimacy and transparency, through digital tools.

[pt] Esta é uma pesquisa no campo da internet e política nos subcampos da esfera pública e do ativismo transnacional. O objetivo deste trabalho é identificar a constituição de públicos transnacionais, que se expressam por meio do ativismo, utilizando as mídias digitais. A partir de uma revisão de literatura, serão analisados dois casos emblemáticos do ativismo transnacional: os protestos coordenados de 15 fevereiro de 2003, realizados simultaneamente em diversos lugares do mundo contra a iminente Guerra do Iraque, e os protestos de 2011 no Egito até a renúncia do então presidente Hosni Mubarak, localizados no contexto da Primavera Árabe, que incluiu eventos parecidos em outros países da região e forte uso das mídias sociais. Serão trabalhadas as seguintes questões nos casos estudados: 1) quais as características desses públicos?; 2) de que forma as mídias sociais são utilizadas?; 3) o que torna esses movimentos transnacionais? Nossa tentativa é a de contribuir para as pesquisas sobre o ativismo - e sobre a esfera pública - transnacional, utilizando como fonte estudos já realizados na área. / [en] This is a research in the field of Internet and Politics in the subfield of the public sphere and transnational activism. The aim of this work is to identify the constitution of transnational publics, which are expressed through activism, using digital media. Based on a literature review, two emblematic cases of transnational activism will be analyzed: the coordinated protests of 15 February 2003, held simultaneously in many countries against the imminent Iraq War, and the 2011 protests in Egypt that took place until the resignation of the president Hosni Mubarak, and were located in the context of the Arab Spring, which included similar events in other Arab countries and strong use of social media. Both cases will be studied in light of the following questions: 1) which are the characteristics of these publics that may be formed around certain issues?; 2) how was social media used?; 3) what makes these publics transnational? By doing so, we hope to contribute to the research on transnational activism and public sphere.
