Implying also that hard, dry and painful reality of the backcountry also refers us to the way of production of poet João Cabral, to reveal the essence of the backcountry while describing his own manner of poetic construction. / Este trabalho constituiu uma análise da construção da poesia do autor João Cabral de Melo Neto em O cão sem plumas a partir da descrição do espaço, do homem e do rio poético, tendo ainda como corpus os poemas O rio e Morte e vida severina. Em O rio buscamos refletir sobre as imagens da água e da estética do espaço, segundo as proposições de Gaston Bachelard sobre os temas do discurso da dor, da angústia, do pessimismo e da morte. Morte e vida severina foi analisado a partir do estudo dos gêneros: lírico, narrativo e dramático, acrescido, no último capítulo de um contraponto em relação à polifonia de gêneros. Esta obra é abalizada pela poética desse autor, pela maneira de manusear as imagens, as metáforas, ou seja, a forma como ele lida com toda essa semântica da expressão, isto é, com as figuras de linguagem, o ritmo, os jogos de palavras, o percurso poético do discurso. E, com esse fio poético, percebemos a essência do Sertão e do Sertanejo nas obras analisadas. Inferindo, ainda, que essa realidade dura, seca e sofrida do sertanejo remete-nos também à maneira de produção do poeta João Cabral, que ao revelar a essência desse sertanejo, ao mesmo tempo, descreve a sua própria maneira da construção poética.

The investigation is based on the conception of abstract subjective production, as shown by Deleuze and Guattari, as well as on the understanding of technical arrangements – museums, schools, industries – as parts of the social machine, inspired by the concept of technical machine, of the same authors. The object of study is the abstract subjective essence of art, as a process of abstraction typical of artistic machines. Artistic production necessarily involves an abstract subjective essence, beyond determinate objective representations. Artistic machines are productive arrangements from which abstraction techniques exceed the limits of symbolic systems toward praxis based on decoded flows contingent to the socius. These machines operate as functional parts to the capitalist economy by supporting its productive performance – for instance, scientific machines –, but also concern the formation of arrangements that overcome the regulatory injunctions of this system / Esta pesquisa propõe a produção abstrata subjetiva da ação artística como intrínseca aos agenciamentos técnicos da produção social. A investigação parte da concepção da essência abstrata subjetiva da produção, apresentada por Deleuze e Guattari, assim como da compreensão de agenciamentos técnicos – museus, escolas, indústrias, por exemplo – como peças da máquina social, inspirada no conceito de máquina técnica, dos mesmos autores. O objeto do estudo é a essência abstrata subjetiva da arte, como processo de abstração característico das máquinas artísticas. A produção artística necessariamente manifesta uma essência abstrata subjetiva, para além das representações objetivas determinadas. As máquinas artísticas seriam agenciamentos produtivos cujas técnicas de abstração extrapolam os limites de sistemas simbólicos em direção à práxis estabelecida nos fluxos descodificados contingentes do socius. Although the author's starting point for her inquiry about the sense of being is phenomenological, from the fact of the being of the ego - after all, as she herself asserts, her mother tongue is philosophically the language of Husserl - the way of the certainty of the ego (which she calls “augustinian”) occurs in the context of her work together with the way that she calls “aristotelian”, which proceeds from what is intrusive to us [Aufdrängenden] by first, namely, the world of the sensibly perceived things. Despite the apparent antagonism, the author argues that the Augustinian and the Aristotelian ways must complement each other. Além da visão sobre a Arte Sumie e sua ligação com o Tao, uma breve história da China, desde a Antiguidade até o início do período da república. Foi abordado o modo de fazer uma pintura, como e quais materiais são utilizados e o porquê deles. Outro ponto que foi abordado é a ocidentalização que a Arte Sumie sofreu mesmo depois de já ter tido uma influência japonesa, alterando suas configurações originais, como no caso da inserção de cor aos trabalhos monocromáticos chineses. L'effet du prix de l'essence sur l'étalement urbain dans 12 régions métropolitaines canadiennes : une analyse de régression de panel

Les régions métropolitaines canadiennes n'échappent pas à l'étalement urbain et plusieurs facteurs récurrents existent dans la littérature scientifique afin d'expliquer ce phénomène. L'un de ces facteurs est la diminution du coût de transport, une diminution reflétée par l'omniprésence de l'automobile. Dans l'optique où le prix de l'essence augmenterait substantiellement, forçant ainsi les agents économiques à changer leur comportement envers les transports urbains, l'un des objectifs de notre étude est de déterminer si une éventuelle hausse du prix de l'essence pourra ralentir l'étalement urbain. À l'aide de données de 12 régions métropolitaines canadiennes échelonnées sur 20 ans, notre analyse de régression de panel révèle qu'une augmentation de 10 % du prix de l'essence: 1) hausserait la proportion de la population d'une région métropolitaine vivant dans la ville centrale de 1,76 %; (2) diminuerait de 6,78 % la proportion de logements à faible densité et (3) diminuerait de 0,15 km la distance médiane de navettage. ______________________________________________________________________________ MOTS-CLÉS DE L’AUTEUR : Étalement urbain, prix de l'essence, régions métropolitaines canadiennes.

Can Consciousness be Taken Seriously When it Comes to Personal Identity?

Certain contemporary philosophers (e.g. Dainton, 2008; Strawson, 1999; Foster, 2008) have thought that the first-person, qualitative aspect of conscious experience should be taken seriously when it comes to our thinking about personal identity through time. These philosophers have thus argued that experiential continuity is essential to a person’s ability to persist identically through time. This is what I will call ‘the phenomenological theory’. In this thesis I describe the phenomenological theory and then discuss three problems that have plagued the history of this theory: the bridge problem, the token problem, and the ontological problem. I will argue that a recent version of the phenomenological theory proposed by Barry Dainton and Timothy Bayne (2005) provides satisfactory answers to two of these problems, but not the third. I will conclude this thesis by proposing a superior version of the phenomenological theory—one that can handle all three problems.

This essay takes the three models from Allison and Zelikow book Essence of decision and applies them on the Swedish defense system. After the cold war the Swedish defense system had to undergo changes to be a more modern defense and be able to defend Sweden against threats. To also be able to cooperate with other countries in peacekeeping operations the Swedish defense had to be reorganized. The solution was to change direction from a defense system that was organized for invasion to instead be a movable defense ready for any challenge in Sweden or abroad. This reorganization will be analyzed according to the three different models.

Tyrimo objektas - tarpkultūrinės kompetencijos ugdymo ypatybės magistrantūros studijose.Tyrimo tikslas - atskleisti tarpkultūrinės kompetencijos struktūrą, sudedamuosius elementus bei ugdymo ir vertinimo strategijų, metodų ir formų veiksmingumą ugdant magistrantų tarpkultūrinę kompetenciją.Teorinėje disertacijos dalyje analizuojama tarpkultūrinės kompetencijos samprata, struktūra, jos ugdymas skirtingų teorinių ir metodologinių paradigmų kontekste, sąryšis su kitomis kompetencijomis ir skėtiškumo sampratos formavimosi prielaidos. Analizuojama socializacijos ir savaiminio ugdymo reikšmė ugdant magistrantų tarpkultūrinę kompetenciją aukštojoje mokykloje. Identifikuojamos tarpkultūrinės kompetencijos (bendrosios ir profesinės) ugdymo ir vertinimo strategijos bei metodai aukštajame moksle. Empirinėje dalyje, atlikus kiekybinį ir kokybinį tyrimą trijose Lietuvos aukštojo mokslo institucijose, atskleista socialinių mokslų magistrantūros programose studijuojančių magistrantų tarpkultūrinės kompetencijos patirtis ir atskleistos bendrosios bei profesinės tarpkultūrinės kompetencijos ugdymo galimybės monokultūrinėje (institucinėje) ir realioje tarpkultūrinėje aplinkoje. Aim of the Research is to reveal the structure, elements of intercultural competence as well as efficiency of strategies, methods and forms for education and evaluation within the process of educating intercultural competence of Master’s degree students. Theoretical part of the Dissertation analyses the conception, structure of intercultural competence and educating it within the context of different theoretical as well as methodological paradigms, their links with other competences and preconditions for the formation of an “umbrella” concept. Importance of socialisation and self-education in the process of educating intercultural competences of Master’s degree students in institutions of higher education is analysed, intercultural competences (general and professional) as well as strategies and methods for education and evaluation in institutions of higher education are identified.
