Previous issue date: 2005-05-11 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / In this current work of the course of Professional Master of Mathematical Education paper, entitled "Investigations on hypotheses that students formulate about algebraic writings , we emphasize our concern with the teaching and learning of Algebra, which is always very present in our practice and that led us to look for researches developed about this theme and also historical studies on the development of Algebra, whose knowledge is very needed in the formation of a teacher of Mathematics. We present the results of an investigation performed with my fifth-grade students, in which we tried to identify the hypotheses that they formulate about the use of letters. We conclude, by trying to establish a relationship between the performance of this research and our professional development and also emphasizing the relevance of this research, in the scope of the teacher's work, related to the construction of a quotidian attitude in the search for the comprehension of their students' learning and development processes and to the autonomy in the interpretation of reality and the knowledge that constitutes their teaching objects. We also consider fundamental the knowledge by the teacher, of investigation methods used in the development of researches in Mathematical Education with emphasis on those which focus on the knowledge, the experience, the formation and the professional development as a tesacher / No presente trabalho de conclusão do Curso de Mestrado Profissional em

Previous issue date: 2006-05-22 / The initial objective of this work was to discuss the subject matter career in the organizational context, as the original research was carried out with 34 executives working for 12 national and multinational companies. The research evolution and consequent preparation of this essay have enlarged the perspective, because the contact with such professionals in a second interview has enabled to find out several kinds of career, and even some professionals who were unemployed at that time. In an objective way such trajectories, which were shot between the period comprised 2000 and 2004 started to be understood, and articulated to the changes in work relations resulting from the coming of the informational society, fruit of deep and intensive transformations roughly caused by the information technology and globalization in a capitalism under restructuring. In Brazil such impacts are not so much different from those occurred in other countries, and on basis of the careers reviewed it has been seen that the globalization has managed to spread out the modern career model, which is marked by instability, discontinuity and horizontality. Professionals with global careers in multinational companies, professionals with no space in such companies, as well as consultants and small businessmen, some of them happy and others deeply unsure and dissatisfied build the realities found in the analyzed trajectories from a few subject matters deemed to be critical factors for the success in the career: educational trajectory and experience in changing situations. Personal influences reviewed have also been considered by means of the subject matter coaches and guides. And the concept of Career Anchors suggests that self-knowledge and self-concept of professional motivations and trends can be obtained by means of the diversification and variety of professional experiences. For such professionals, identifying their career anchors may have been the key for their personal satisfaction and psychological success. In an unequal society marked by the chasm between an elite which got school graduation and has good jobs, and a mass with no access to formal employment and income conditions, it seems to be a privilege available to a few only. These two questions can be more deeply studied and require future research / O objetivo inicial deste trabalho era discutir o tema carreira no contexto organizacional, pois a pesquisa original foi realizada envolvendo 34 executivos empregados em 12 empresas nacionais e multinacionais.

Previous issue date: 2006-05-29 / nenhum / This research had the objective of finding out in the teacher of the Accountancy Course of the State University of Ponta Grossa (UEPG) had had any kind of formation or previus preparation when they started their careers as university professors, as well as to identify the necessities for the formation of teachers. It also tried to obtain suggestions form former and presentday students and from the teachers themselves in order to identify ways of supplying theses necessities. The diagnosed necessities were then divided into three categories: a) formation necessities related to aspects of techinical knowledge; b) formation necessities related to didactic-pedagogical knowledge; and c) formation necessities related to behavioral aspects. This study is relevant and necessary because the professor is one of the mainprotagonists in the teaching-learning process and he/she often becomes a professor by chance, without any previous preparation, so that identifying the conditions in which he/she acquired his/her formation is the first step towards the implementation of actions for the pro-fessional development and the improvement of accountancy teaching. In order to accomplish this, the research was carried out as a case study, and data were collected in two stages. In the first stage, individual interviews with some professors were carried out and group interviews (focus group) were done with other professors. In the second stage, questionnaires were applied to former and presentday students of Accountancy. The study showed that tem out of eighteen (55,56%) of the enterviewed professors had had some kind of previous preparation for teaching at the university, but only one of them was prepared by UEPG. It also showed that, out of the ten that had some previous preparation, three had gotten acquainted withpedagogical aspects only throught the discipline Higher Education Methodology in specialization courses; two others, besids this discipline, had also had a curse in pedagogical formation for the Ensino Médio . Two professors had taken a specific course in University Methodology, besides the already mentioned discipline; one had concluded the Magistério Course, andanother one, who had graduated in History, stated he had received pedagogical training there. The two data collecting techniques showed that 66,67% of the interviwed professors needed formation in the behavioral aspect, 72,22% needed didactic-pedagogical formation, and 100% needed general formation.

Previous issue date: 2010-05-17 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The present paper intends to analyze the importance of the History of
Science with emphasis in History of Mathematics in the formation of teachers of
initial series (currently in pedagogy course). Based on this aspect, we seek to
verify historical records through primary sources such as Laws, Acts,
Resolutions, Guides, Subsidies, Proposals and Parameters, to comprehend in
which ways occurred the institutionalization of the History of Mathematics, in the
mathematic teaching.
Even though it is indicated on the National Curricular Parameters, History
of Mathematics must be discussed and properly approached by teachers, so
that it doesn t turn to be just another item incorporated on the Curricular
contents of mathematics.
Future teachers must have contact with the History of mathematics
during the formation period in order to get it incorporated to their practices.
Through the knowledge of the history of concepts of mathematic it can be
shown to students that mathematic is not about eternal, infallible and immutable
truths only, but it is in fact a dynamic science / O presente trabalho tem a pretensão de analisar a importância da

Previous issue date: 2002-11-19 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / This work is about Mathematics teacher education. It ains to offer a contribution in
this area, in terms of understanding the processes by which new mathematical
content is adquired and existing knowledge extended. We hope that it helps
teachers to develop suitable strategies for working with Geometry in the
classroom. This study is founded in BROUSSEAU s theory of situations and in
DUVAL s studies about the use of several registers of semiotic representation. We
prepared a workshop composed of activities whose focus was quadrilaterals,
which was attended by a group of teachers from elementary and secondary school
levels. During the workshop, we discussed the theoretical references that had
served as a base for selectiing the activities and for the manners in which these
were presented. The research question is: how can we work with teachers in ways
which result in the acquisition of geometrical knwledge and, at the some time,
provide them with inherent didactic knowledge related the geometrical content?
Our main hypothesis is that the proposed activities will contribute to the content
acquisition and the discussion of the theoretical references to the didactic
knowledge improvement. Analyses of the teachers behavior and discussion,
during 33 workshop hours, reveals that the activities provoked considerations
about definitions, assumpitions, properties of quadrilaterals, theorems and proofs,
as well as helping teachers to discover the difficulties they have in using different
registers of representation in Geometry. The discussion of the theoretical
references made the teachers understand that in their classroom they have
usually omitted the action, formulation and validity stages, discussed by
BROUSSEAU, presenting Geometry in an institutionalized way / Esse trabalho trata da formação de professores de matemática.
inerentes a esses conteúdos?

Previous issue date: 2003-11-28 / This work concerns the inservice education of mathematics teachers. One of its aims
is to propose, to teachers, a teaching sequence, with activities that show the
interdisciplinary relationship that exists between spherical geometry and geography,
forming interconnections between these domains, at the same time as contextualising
the content to be considered and motivating learning in a way that articulates the
object of study with reality. Another aim is to provide to the teachers involved
reflections about aspects related to the teaching of spherical geometry. Based on the
Theory of Didactic Situation developed by G. BROUSSEAU (1986), the research
methodology Didactic Engineering of M. ARTIGUE (1988) and the theory of Britt-Mari
BARTH (1993) concerning teacher education, we elaborate a teaching sequence,
composed of a motivating problem-situation along with eight other activities involving
notions of spherical geometry. We investigate the question: How can a teaching
sequence permit the appropriation of a new domain spherical geometry and
encourage educators to re-elaborate their thinking? Our research hypotheses assume
that geometrical knowledge allows different perspectives about our world, that the
apprehension of content can lead to changes in our behaviour as teachers and that
the use of interdisciplinarity and contextualisation will establish connections between
different fields of knowledge. The analysis of the results points to a change in the
attitudes and values of the teachers, which confirms our research hypothesis and
emphasises the importance of the methodology adopted, leading us to believe that
some aspects of the geometry studies were learnt and became institutionalised
Investigamos a questão: Como

Previous issue date: 2007-07-31 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / In this study we investigated the initial preparation of the Elementary School math teachers. 346 future math teachers were surveyed (189 first-year students and 157 last-year students) and 41 professors from two of the ABC paulista region universities. The data gathering was accomplished from the five sources called Instruments: Instrument 1 (the last-year students were asked to create eight problems containing fractions aiming at the evaluation of the Elementary School students; Instrument 2 (the last-year students themselves solved the eight problems they created; Instrument 3 (all students, the undergraduates and the graduates, were submitted to an evaluation containing twenty problems about elementary knowledge of rational numbers); Instrument 4 (interactive interview with 10% of the last-uear students who took part in the research); Instrument 5 (interactive interview with 41 teachers). We have chosen a qualitative approach to analyze the data. Due to the great number of data the qualitative analysis was always preceded by a statistical summary account to show the frequency with which each category or sub-category was observed. The results were grouped into three units of analysis that respectively treated of the mathematical knowledge (concept and process) of the future teachers related to the five subconstructs or definitions of the fractions (part-whole; operator; quotient or indicated division; measurement and linear coordinate); the mathematical knowledge and the PCK (Pedagogical Content Knowledge or didactical knowledge) related to the elementary operations with fractions (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) and rational numbers in the higher education. Our data draw our attention to the fact that future teachers have a syncretical vision of rational numbers. There is a significant unbalance between the concept and process knowledge, being greater the knowledge of the process, as well as it is also observed the low level of the didactical knowledge related to the forms of representation normally taught at the Elementary School which treat rational numbers (fractions) / Neste estudo investigamos a formação inicial de professores de Matemática para o ensino dos números racionais no Ensino Fundamental.

Previous issue date: 2007-10-18 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The aim of this study was to investigate the student s perception of their process of education by the Special Program of Pedagogical Education and verify if it has been contributed to the characterization of teaching s profession. Besides, it was analyzed the courses contents program and the education process implemented, in order to evaluate how non-licensed teachers education has been occurring, in the present moment of Superior Education Reform discussion. Analysing data collected, we tried to comprehend how the researched Special Program of Pedagogical Education contributes to educate Mathematics teachers as well as to their practices improvement. Data gatering included questionnaires application next to this Program students (many had already teached, even no license); documents analysis (laws, resolutions, curriculum, evaluations and program contents) and interviews realized with selected students among those who composed the analyzed program class. In general, collected data analysis allow that subjects, students-teachers of the course investigated, believe that the course is not enough to an adequate education of a Mathematics teacher and data has pointed that mayor perception is that they do not feel qualified to the profession job. It was possible to perceive, however, that there was behavior and motivation changes to these people in relation to the perception of the need and the importance of a continuous education, but also of the absence of profound knowledge about mathematics contents to be teached by these teachers. Group activities and active participation of students, as well as academic texts readings seem to be the more remarkable aspects to these students. The importance of playing mathematics games and other activities which may aid students learning was other element perceived as of high importance during the Program. Being so, we understand that the Special Program of Pedagogical Education of this institution brings important and significant elements to Mathematics teachers education, but insufficient to professional job, specially concerning to specific Mathematic contents, absent during all Program / A presente pesquisa teve por objetivo investigar a percepção dos alunos sobre seu processo de formação por meio do Programa Especial de Formação Pedagógica e verificar se o mesmo vem contribuindo para a caracterização da profissão docente.

Previous issue date: 2007-11-21 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This study it has as objective to analyze factors that can intervene with the professional
development of teachers of the first series of Elementary School, as resulted of a formation
continued with the purpose to argue questions related to the boarding of the fractionary
representation of rational numbers and its different meanings. For the collection of data,
(16) sessions had been carried through, of which, (3) had been destined to the application of
the daily pay-test; (9) sessions had been dedicated the studies of the meanings of the
fractions and to the experience of diversified methodologies; one of the sessions was
dedicated to the elaboration of a work sequence, for the teachers, who were developed with
its pupils in classroom. The (3) following sessions had been destined the interviews, being
(2) soon after the intervention of the teachers in its classrooms and the last session, one year
after the intervention, with the objective to verify the reflections made for the teachers after
the research. Theoretically, we in such a way base our inquiry on theories that turn on the
formation of teachers as in studies that investigate didactic questions on the mathematical
object: fractionary representation of the rational number. How much to the first approach,
in we support them in studies of Schön (1983), that they deal with the reflection on the
practical one, extended for the quarrels of Shulman (1986), Tardif (2000), Bridge (1992)
and Serrazina (1999). In relation to the didactic questions associates to the mathematical
object, we use the Theory of the Conceptual Fields of Vergnaud (1990), the classification
proposal for Nunes (2003) for the meanings of the fractions, the ideas of Kieren (1988) on
the constructs of the rational numbers and the interpretations suggested for Ohlsson (1987).
In general way, the analysis of the information gotten in allows to identify them some
factors that can exert influence on the process of professional development of the teachers.
One of them if relates to the relative difficulties to the mathematical knowledge of the
teachers. We believe that it has necessity of a ampler approach of the concept of rational
numbers, complemented for the analysis of the different meanings of its fractionary
representation, as much in courses of initial formation, as continued. Another factor
mentions the beliefs and conceptions to it of the teacher on the education and the learning
of Mathematics, and in specific, of the mathematical object fractions. We conclude that to
breach these beliefs and conceptions, is necessary a constant reflection on the practical one,
over all in environments that propitiate a collaborative work. We believe that these
conditions are basic for the professional development of the teachers.
matemático do professor.

Previous issue date: 2007-11-01 / Secretaria da Educação do Estado de São Paulo / The present research boards the following questions: which represent the
initial knowledge about Demonstration presented by teachers participating in the
project The deductive reasoning in the teaching/apprenticeship of Mathematics in
the final degrees of the Fundamental Teaching ? May the teacher s participation in
the project also reflect any kind of change in the practice in Geometry?
The theoretical part worked on general aspects related to the demonstration
and formation of teachers. Referring to the demonstrations, it was adopted the
definition proposed by Balacheff (1982), having been done a survey about their
importance, as means of convincing, and to explain, discover, communicate,
challenge and systematize basing on the ideas of De Villiers (2002). Besides that,
their importance was related to the PCN proposals (1998). Regarding to the
teacher s formation, the ideas of Shulman (1986), Schön (1995) and Nóvoa (1995),
were shared, among other authors with regard to initial and continuous formation
processes focused in the reflection to be the starting point for any change. In this
sense, some results obtained in other researches were discussed, involving the
teachers formation and/or changes and/or demonstration in Geometry. The concept
of belief and how it acts in the teaching speech was also reported.
In order to answer the first research question, it was used data obtained
from the applied questionnaires. It was checked that the initial knowledge of the
teachers about demonstrations was very abstract and some of them not even knew
what it is to demonstrate in Mathematics. It was, also, found the existence of many
saturated voices in the teachers speeches which act as beliefs in their opinions, as
well as several observations in which the responsibility for the impossibility of working
with demonstrations in Mathematics in the basic school would be totally in the initial
formation processes.
The answers found in the second research question represented some
subtle changes as: the autonomy of the participating teachers before the process of
developing a demonstration in Geometry, starting from a diffident condition to a
critical condition and confidence in the moment of drawing up a demonstration, as
well as alterations in the practice in classroom, even in our own practice. These
changes are due to the desire of developing the argumentation process, first step for
the construction of a demonstration / A presente pesquisa aborda as seguintes questões: Quais são os discursos e
professores participantes do projeto O raciocínio dedutivo no processo ensinoaprendizagem
