Fiction writing as symbolic constructivist inquiry in ego state therapy

Vermooten, Elizabeth 26 November 2008 (has links)
The dissertation primarily involves an exploration of art-like research possibilities via symbolic constructivism, concerning research into a therapeutic process from the position of a beginning therapist. Symbolic constructivism within the broader framework of artistic inquiry forms the methodological paradigm. Symbolic constructivism is regarded as a social constructionist research method, and entails using art-like formats in creating a symbol representing the issue being researched. Fiction writing is thereby used in creating a story as a co-constructed symbol, exploring what happened during a therapy process involving issues regarding trauma and dissociation that I undertook with a female client. The client acts as co-researcher in co-writing and editing the story's content, style and tone. The study also represents my reality in terms of understanding theoretical constructs from epistemologically diverse paradigms, therapeutic processes, doing research and writing a dissertation as it is punctuated at a specific moment in time. As a subtext the dissertation may also be described as a narrative about becoming - becoming a therapist, being a person, and the interface between these two (amongst other) selves. In the dissertation, I therefore hope to present a process-oriented account of personal therapeutic development as well. / Dissertation (MA)--University of Pretoria, 2008. / Psychology / unrestricted

Historie, současnost a budoucnost výměnných formátů bibliografických dat / History, Presence and Future of Exchangeable Formats of Bibliographic Data

Rösslerová, Klára January 2017 (has links)
This dissertation focuses on the data exchange bibliographic formats that have been used in the libraries since the 1960s. There have not been many changes over the decades although librarians have been calling for them. Since the beginning of the new millennium, there has been a growing pressure for change. The aim of this dissertation is to try to summarize the activities in this field and to outline possible future development. The formats used in the past and in the present are analysed in the first part. It is possible to predict the future development on the basis of the analysis of individual projects and on the basis of surveys. The results of the analysis suggest that these activities are headed to a linked data publication model that preserves the current cataloguing procedures. Underlagshantering i projekteringsprocessen : En studie om datasamordning från underlag till BIM-modell / Supporting documents in the design-process : A study concerning data coordination from supporting document to BIM-model

Härdstedt, Linus, Snäll, Joel January 2020 (has links)
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to examine how material, vital for the designprocess (supporting documents) is handled throughout the entire process. From obtaining the material from the document-administer until the material is transformed and applicable in a BIM-software in the design-process. Method: The first method is a case study that contains semi-structured interviews with one large as well as one small design-firm in Sweden, but also the biggest client regarding infrastructure in Sweden. Secondly, the other part of this thesis work is to perform an experiment containing two parts where the first one is to examine supporting material of an ongoing infrastructure-project and evaluate the quality, as well as constructing conversion rules to evaluate how supporting documents can be implemented. Findings: All the respondents in the conducted survey reported that supporting material regarding electric-, telecommunication- and fibre-optic cables were supporting material with the lowest degree of accuracy. Furthermore, the most used file-format is DWG, but file-formats like PDF, JPG, XML and LAS are also file-formats that is used according to the respondents. All the respondents suggest that a standardised way of using supporting documents would be an efficient way of standardising the process. The findings from the experiment concluded that the most used file-format used as supporting material is DWG (79%), followed by PDF (21 %). The quality varied between different providers. Supporting material provided straight from the contractor in DWG had great or excellent quality. Material as PDF/JPG needed to be processed in order to be used in a BIM-software. The implementing of conversion rules resulted in way of implementing these. In order to use this, the supporting document needs to be digital, in this case as DWG-files. Well established ways of using colours, layers and names in the CAD-software is vital. Implications: In order to make the way of handling the supporting material more efficient, a standardised way of handling these need to be used, as well as standardised file-formats. By making the supporting material digital, this will make the material more accessible, thus is the quality of e.g. PDF and JPG “not sufficient” because a BIMuser must convert these files manually, which provide one source of error. Therefore, these files lack interoperability. Regarding the material provided by the contractor, the design-firm need to have direct communication with the provider of the supporting material to take advantage of DWG-files and use the same file-formats, layers etc., to reduce the time it takes to convert the supporting documents manually. Limitations: A limitation is that only one large and one small design-firm is analysed. One part of a complete BIM-software is used, so the external validity is low, because the result may only be used in another small design-firm with the same project configurations and programmes. The experiment, where Conversion Rules were examined did only embrace wells (water-systems).

Linked Data and Libraries : How the Switch to Linked Data Has Affected Work Practices at the National Library of Sweden

Unterstrasser, Julia January 2023 (has links)
This thesis explores how library practice has been impacted by linked (open) data. For libraries, adopting linked data principles means moving away from the long-established reality of MARC-formats and opening up their information resources to the internet. While the transformation of library systems to linked data is often described as the necessary next step for the library community promising enormous benefits, the reality of the transformation process is a challenging one. This thesis employs an interview study at the National Library of Sweden, the first national library worldwide that has adopted linked data as its core data-model, to provide deeper insights into how linked data is affecting the current work practices of library professionals from their own perspectives. The findings suggest that linked data is significantly impacting library practice in a multitude of ways, fundamentally changing knowledge and information organization in the digital age. While linked data is still in the beginning stages of its implementation in the library community as a whole, the interviewed library professionals are confident about the benefits the transformation will bring eventually. While there are still many challenges and obstacles to tackle there is a strong believe that the advertised promises of linked data will come true in time. Furthermore, the results of the study suggest that linked data is only part of a paradigm-shifting change currently happening in the knowledge and information organization community, accompanied by many other developments that are as a whole fundamentally changing how information is organized, managed, shared and even perceived in today’s digital information environment of the internet.

Kopecká, Elizabeth January 2022 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with a comparative analysis of two singing competitions, Zpívá celá rodina and Česko hledá Superstar. The comparison is based on the analysis of the shows Zpívá celá rodina and Česko hledá Superstar. Since the analysed television singing competitions were broadcast in different eras, significant differences between the two television shows can be observed. The theoretical part deals with television entertainment, the definition of television singing contest formats, as well as the description of media audiences and television fans. The thesis includes a brief description of the TV music shows and singing competitions that were available on the domestic market. The following comparative analysis is based on comparing the two mentioned singing competitions. The thesis presents the findings that the different eras contributed significantly to the form of the television singing competitions and also had a considerable influence on the preferences of the television audience. The thesis also provides a rationale as to why the the above mentioned shows were so popular with television audiences and whether the concept of Zpívá celá rodina could still be successful today. This justification is supported by comments by music experts and personal experience of participating in the...
