DET GÖR ONT - DET GÖR ONT. MUSIKENS BETYDELSE FÖR ATT LINDRA KRONISK SMÄRTA. EN LITTERATURSTUDIE

Assarsson, Marie, Persson, Jane January 2006 (has links)
Both chronic pain and music have existed from the beginning of time and they exercise a great deal of influence over the human being on multidimensional levels. Music has been used throughout time to affect atmosphere and mood. Hence, the purpose of this study was to investigate whether music can relieve chronic pain. The method used was a literature review where our results were based on twelve scientific articles. The nursing care theories of Rosmarie Parse, where she describes the symbiosis between human and environment, served as a reference frame. In addition, Parse believes that there should be an alternative to traditional medicine. The results showed that music relieved pain both physiologically and psychologically. Apart from its pain relieving effects it resulted in relaxation and cognitive changes in the patient, which increased his sense of inner strength. This strength can in turn help the patient to take control over his pain so that it doesn’t overshadow his everyday life. It is easy to implement music in nursing care as it is simple, harmless and cheap. Music is also an excellent method of self-care.

The Journey Towards Global Implementation of Holistic Sexuality Education : A Comparative Case Study of Sexuality Education Guidelines from UNESCO (Global), WHO (Europe), and SIECUS (USA)

Garoutte, Nicola January 2022 (has links)
Sexuality education is a fundamental children's right, women’s right and overall human right that has not been successfully implemented in primary, secondary, or higher education throughout the globe. Sexuality education promotes children, adolescents, and teenagers safety exploring their sexuality and developing their attitudes, values, and skills. A literature review was conducted that indicates there is a gap of knowledge between sexual ethics in relation to comprehensive sexuality education and holistic sexuality education. The purpose of this study is to gain understanding of comprehensive sexuality education and holistic sexuality education by comparing vertically, horizontally, and traversally three guidelines on three levels, global, regional, and national. Critical and feminist theory are frameworks in qualitative research methods implemented in the thesis to thematically analyze secondary data throughout UNESCO International Technical Guidance on sexuality education, WHO Standards for Sexuality Education in Europe, and SIECUS’s Guidelines for CSE in USA. The results found that from an intersectional feminist perspective, learning about consent and setting boundaries is essential for the promotion of holistic sexuality education thats overcomes the limitations of comprehensive sexuality education and empowers youth to explore their sexuality further. Therefore, basing sexual ethics as a foundation for holistic sexuality education with an overarching goal of global implementation can challenging due to existing social structures and power imbalances. The advocacy and awareness of holistic sexuality education is crucial in order to for youth to access their children’s rights and human rights. This thesis advocates for sexual ethics and intimate citizenship as main pillars of sexuality and holistic sexuality education through consent and respecting boundaries.

Beyond Borders: Exploring the Concept of Knowledge Transfer in Aid : Lessons from Transferring the Panzi Model for Survivors of CRSV from the DRC to Ukraine

Lindgren, Moa January 2024 (has links)
Conflict Related Sexual Violence (CRSV) is a persistent and pervasive humanitarian issue, exacerbated by complexities inherent in global conflicts. Recognising the widespread character of CRSV, the need for comprehensive measures to combat it becomes apparent. In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where CRSV remains a prevalent element in the conflict, Panzi Hospital stands out for its specialisation in assisting survivors. The hospital has developed a holistic care model known as the Panzi Model, which serves as a guiding framework for their efforts. In an increasingly interconnected world, characterised by blurred borders and interdependence among societies, the importance of knowledge transfer (KT), especially while acknowledging the importance of an intersectional approach, becomes evident. This study aimed to assess stakeholders' perceptions of the transferability of the Panzi Model, with a specific focus on its transfer from the DRC to Ukraine, facilitated by the Mukwege Foundation. Employing a qualitative mixed-methods approach, empirical data was collected through interviews and document analysis. The analysis was guided by a theoretical framework—a process model for KT developed within the scope of this research, integrating intersectionality into all its phases. Key findings reveal optimism regarding the model's adaptability, but significant challenges persist, including cultural barriers and a lack of conscious decision-making processes of KT. While efforts have been made to raise awareness and provide support services in Ukraine, challenges remain, including a disproportionate focus on advocacy efforts, leaving limited space for tangible medical and psychological support efforts––both key components of the Panzi Model. Findings also revealed the complexities of deciding whether to establish one-stop-centres (OSCs) or to work through referral systems. In conclusion, the study suggests that while the philosophy of the Panzi Model can be transferred, its full implementation requires nuanced adaptations. Recommendations include transparent disclosure of adaptations and a focus on underlying principles rather than rigid methods. Additionally, the study advocates for fostering international civil society collaboration and prioritising long-term aid for sustainable development. Overall, successful application of these concepts requires contextual sensitivity and ongoing collaboration among stakeholders.

Hur ambulanssjuksköterskor tillämpar personcentrerad vård vid icke akuta situationer : En kvalitativ intervjustudie / In non-emergency situations, how ambulance nurses apply person-centered care

Melin, Matthias, Skotte, Christian January 2024 (has links)
In Sweden, a reform is underway to establish easy to assess healthcare system, that in integrative way prioritizes brings healthcare closer to the patient to create a more efficient and patient-focused care environment. The core of this reform is the transition to a more person-centered approach. Today's ambulance healthcare does not meet society's increased demands and is not adequately equipped or efficient in its current structure. A person-centered approach highlights the patient's needs and unique situation. This one-year master thesis aims to analyze the applications of person-centered care in today's ambulance healthcare. A qualitative interview study was conducted with eight practicing ambulance nurses selected through convenience sampling. Communication between the ambulance nurse and the patient emerges as a central concept in realizing a person-centered focus in the prehospital care environment. Key insights reveal that the actions of the ambulance nurse regard the patient have a significant impact on the patient's integrity and subsequent care plan.

Multimodal Multi-label Classification with Small Foundation Models

Martin Björkdahl, Liv January 2024 (has links)
The use of electronic health records (EHR) from various sources like text, images and time-series data to make predictions or diagnosis have been researchedpreviously. Many previous methods have used separate models either for sepa-rate modalities or for distinct tasks. Recently, models trained to make medicalpredictions using multimodal input have emerged, as a unified approach wouldbe beneficial for health practitioners. We present a single model to make medicalpredictions for several tasks, using diverse input from different modalities. Wedemonstrate the effectiveness of using an autoencoder method to project (EHR)data from three different modalities – images, text and time-series data – into thesmall language model Gemma-2B. 6 projector models are used together with the small language model to perform multi-label prediction for 12 different medicalprediction tasks. Results show that a jointly trained model using asymmetric loss,a loss function that dynamically emphasises positives that are poorly predicted, shows good performance and predicts evenly across tasks.

Elitgolfspelares upplevelser av ett normativt karriäravslut

Axelsson, Vidar, Lithander, William January 2024 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to explore the experiences of elite golf players in transitioning from active professional athletes to post-sports life. All participants in the study were male, playing at one of the two highest national levels in Sweden, either the Future Series or the Moregolf Mastercard Tour. Eight participants were recruited for the study with the requirement that they had played for at least three years at one of these top national levels, and that no more than three years had passed since they ended their careers. The study employed a semi-structured interview guide, developed based on theoretical frameworks, to conduct in-depth interviews with each participant. The information collected from the interviews was analyzed using thematic analysis to identify various themes and patterns, which then formed the results of the study. The results indicated that all participants experienced some form of challenge during their career transition from being active elite athletes to post-sport life. One of the biggest challenges among the participants was uncertainty about the future and what to do after ending their sports careers. Participants found that support from their families was a crucial resource during the end of their careers. Those who had combined sports with studies or work, dual careers, during their active sports careers found that this facilitated their transition. In terms of managing career ending, the majority of the participants highlighted the importance of having a plan B for life after sports. Participants who had not planned for life after sports were worried about their future. However, all but one of the participants began working or studying relatively soon after ending their careers, primarily driven by their own desire to pursue new goals and challenges.
