Volvo Construction Equipment is considering applying modular design to their organisation in order to constrain the growing intangible information and parts assortment within the company, and as well to enable a rearrangement of production, sales and logistics in the near future of organisational growth and industrial footprint. Hence the purpose of this thesis is to investigate the opportunities and threats of implementing modular design to Volvo Construction Equipment. The analysis is scoped on the generic aspects of modularity and the organisational weaknesses within Volvo CE towards implementing a new organisational structure, product design and production with modular design. Modularity enables the company to move towards decupling the constraints of tangible sales and provides an opportunity to offer Product Service Systems as a Total Solution for each individual customer. By implementing the authors common knowledge and education within engineering revolving tangible and intangible products and services alongside with innovation, together with informal interviews of stakeholders, the results of the thesis was reached. The analysis of the results was reached by implementing Design Research Methodology to the structure of the thesis, research method and interviews made. There is a distinct opportunity for Volvo CE to implement modular design since the informational flows, innovation, research and development is enhanced by a correct modular design. Although there is a distinct risk in changing a well-established product design, development process and organisational structure, the opportunities to create a product service system strategy and to re harvest and recycle value within the company with modularity outweigh the risk. Incomprehension of how to optimize a modular design may amplify the reasons why Volvo CE is considering revising their products and organisation with modularity, thus the authors recommend implementing a generic and specific education in modularity within Volvo CE to ensure a shared language of modularity and enhance traceability of the development within the company. In order to enhance the organisational velocity around development, the authors also recommend a new computer environment which enables the different disciplines of engineering and marketing to modularise the product, services and processes while keeping the comprehension of the subject close to hand. This enables the organisational structure to change and improve towards modular deployment and to further accelerate Volvo CE’s growth, market share and revenue. / Volvo Construction Equipment överväger att tillämpa en modulär design till sin organisation i syfte att begränsa den växande immateriella information och det växande sortiment av delar inom företaget som finns idag. Volvo ser även till möjligheterna med modulär design för att möjliggöra en omflyttning av produktion, försäljning och logistik inom den närmaste framtiden för organisatorisk tillväxt och för att minska det industriella fotavtrycket. Därav syftet med denna uppsats; att undersöka möjligheter och hot för att genomföra modulär design i Volvo Construction Equipment. Analysen är fokuserad på generiska aspekter på modularitet och organisatoriska svagheter inom Volvo CE mot att genomföra en ny organisationsstruktur, produktdesign och produktion med modulär design. Modularitet möjliggör för företaget att gå mot att minska begränsningen av materiell försäljning och ger en möjlighet att erbjuda system med Product och Service lösningar som en helhetslösning för varje enskild kund. Genom att implementera författarnas gemensamma kunskap och utbildning inom teknik roterande kring materiella och immateriella produkter samt tjänster tillsammans med innovation, och med informella intervjuer av intressenter, har resultaten i denna avhandling uppnåtts. Analysen av resultaten uppnåddes genom att implementera metodiken Design Research Methodology till strukturen, forskningsmetod och gjorda intervjuer i avhandlingen. Det finns en tydlig möjlighet för Volvo CE att genomföra modulär design eftersom de informativa flöden, innovation, forskning och utveckling förstärks av en korrekt modulär design. 行政部門的資訊優勢對立法的影響力—以第八屆立法院為例 / The Informational Advantage of the Executive Branch in the Legislation: The Case of Legislative Yuan from 2012 to 2016

本研究以行政院在立法上的影響力為焦點。筆者認為立法委員有動機成就好的立法,在行政部門的資訊優勢下,立法委員會傾向接受行政部門陳述的觀點,並導致行政部門對於立法產生相當突出的影響力。本文先以深入訪談法瞭解與佐證行政部門的資訊優勢確實存在且影響卓越,再以內容分析法分析行政部門的態度對於立法結果的影響。 研究結果發現,行政部門對於立法院的優勢呈現在其對於資訊的壟斷、行政執行經驗及專業程度等優勢上。另外,經驗分析顯示,行政部門的意見確實對於重大法案的結果,具有相當重要的影響,筆者認為,行政部門的立法影響力,已近乎於否決者的角色。換句話說,若一個法案想要順利通過,行政部門的肯認,或至少不表達反對,已成為立法成功的必要條件之一。 最後,過去相關的文獻曾指出一個提案的提案者黨籍、是否為委員會成員及召集委員、有無經過黨團協商等因素,皆與該提案能否順利三讀通過有關。本文的經驗數據也呈現相似的結論。更進一步地,本研究發現,在考量上述因素後,行政部門對於立法的影響依然最為深遠。 / This thesis focuses on the legislative influence of the Executive Yuan. The author believes the legislators are motivated to achieve the high quality of law-making. Because of the informational advantage of the executive branch, the legislators tend to accept the perspective made by the executive branch, which leads to the significant influence in the Legislation. First, this paper uses intensive interviews to find out and justify the existence of the informational advantage of the executive branch and its profound influence on the legislation. Furthermore, by using content analysis, this paper intends to dissect what the attitude of the executive branch has an effect on the legislative outcomes. The result revealed the relative advantage of the executive branch over the Legislative Yuan lies on the informational monopoly, administrative executive experiences and the high-level of professionalization. Additionally, the empirical analysis shows the executive branch does have the significant impact on the outcomes of major bills. In the author’s opinion, the effect of the executive branch has come close to the role of veto players. In other words, the approval of the executive branch, or at least the attitude of non-objection, has become one of the necessary conditions for successful legislation. Finally, relevant literature reviews have pointed out several factors that are associated with whether a bill can pass or not. Those factors include the partisanship, committee member, committee chair and the process of party negotiation, etc. The empirical analysis of this thesis disclosed similar conclusions as other literature reviews. Further, this thesis discovers, by taking the above factors into consideration, the executive branch plays the most significant role in the legislation.

Une étude sur le rôle médiateur de la justice organisationnelle sur la relation entre le leadership des supérieurs immédiats et la santé mentale des employés

Ce mémoire vise principalement à déterminer l’effet médiateur de la justice organisationnelle entre le leadership d’habilitation des supérieurs immédiats et la détresse psychologique des employés. Deux objectifs principaux sont poursuivis. Le premier consiste à identifier l’impact du leadership d’habilitation sur la détresse psychologique. Le second objectif vise à déterminer le rôle médiateur de la justice organisationnelle, plus précisément la justice distributive, la justice procédurale, la justice interpersonnelle et la justice informationnelle, entre le leadership d’habilitation exercé envers un subordonné et la détresse psychologique. Les données secondaires qui nous permettent de faire les analyses statistiques nécessaires ont été recueillies dans le cadre d’une étude réalisée dans le secteur de la fabrication métallique industrielle (FMI) du Québec. Un total de 741 employés ont été sondés à l’aide de questionnaires. Des analyses d’équations structurelles ont permis de compléter nos analyses. Les résultats indiquent que le leadership d’habilitation seul ne permet pas de réduire les niveaux de détresse psychologique d’un subordonné. Cependant, les hypothèses concernant le rôle médiateur de la justice distributive et de la justice procédurale ont été confirmées. Pour conclure, ces résultats montrent que le leadership d’habilitation jumelé à la perception d’un haut niveau de justice distributive ou procédurale a un impact significatif sur la diminution de la survenance de détresse psychologique. Ainsi, il est dans l’intérêt des organisations du secteur de la fabrication métallurgique au Québec d’influencer les supérieurs immédiats d’appliquer un leadership d’habilitation tout en portant une attention particulière à la distributive des ressources ainsi qu’à l’élaboration des procédures. / The main objective of this research is to determine the mediating effect of organizational justice between the empowering leadership of immediate superiors and the psychological distress of employees. Two main objectives are pursued. The first is to identify the impact of empowering leadership on psychological distress. The second objective aims to determine the mediating role of organizational justice, more precisely distributive justice, procedural justice, interpersonal justice and informational justice, between the empowering leadership exercised towards a subordinate and psychological distress. The secondary data that allow us to make the necessary statistical analyzes were collected as part of a study carried out in the industrial metalworking sector of Quebec. A total of 741 employees were surveyed using questionnaires. Analyzes of structural equations completed our analyzes. The results indicate that empowering leadership alone does not reduce a subordinate’s levels of psychological distress. However, the hypotheses concerning the mediating role of distributive and procedural justice have confirmed. To conclude, these results show that empowering leadership combined with the perception of a high level of distributive or procedural justice has a significant impact on the reduction of the occurrence of psychological distress. Thus, it is in the interest of organizations in the metalworking sector of Quebec to influence the immediate superiors to apply empowering leadership while paying particular attention to the distribution of resources as well as to the elaboration of procedures.

La presente tesis tiene como tema de estudio la construcción del discurso mediático en medios digitales. Se tomó como caso las publicaciones del diario El Comercio sobre coronavirus (Covid-19) en su versión digital (notas y videos) del 03 de enero (día que se publicó la primera nota sobre coronavirus) y el 26 de abril (día que terminaría la segunda extensión de la cuarentena en Perú). Se marcó el 26 de abril como fecha límite ya que ese día inició la recopilación y estudio de datos; las publicaciones posteriores quedan fuera de este análisis. El objetivo general es describir las características de la construcción mediática del coronavirus según el discurso expuesto por los canales digitales de El Comercio, estudiando las notas de su página web y videos en su canal de YouTube. El método empleado fue el análisis de contenido de una nota y un video por semana, y el conteo de publicaciones. El principal hallazgo indica que el discurso mediático del coronavirus fue cambiando, empezó como un tema anecdótico, lejano y con una publicación entre semanas hasta el otro extremo, siendo descrito con términos sensacionalistas y más de 100 publicaciones diarias. Los cambios en el discurso de El Comercio sobre el coronavirus guardaban relación con la expansión de contagios de Covid-19 desde China, pasando por Asia y Europa, llegando a Sudamérica y Perú, mostrando características más sensacionalistas (tratándose de un mismo tema) mientras más cerca se encontraba de Perú y luego cuando más contagios y fallecidos hubo entre peruanos. / The subject of this thesis is the construction of media discourse in digital media. The publications of the newspaper El Comercio about coronavirus (Covid-19) in its digital version (notes and videos) on January 3 (the day the first note on coronavirus was published) and April 26 (the day that would end) were taken as a case. the second extension of the quarantine in Peru). April 26 was set as the deadline since that day began the collection and study of data; subsequent publications are out of this analysis. The general objective is to describe the characteristics of the media construction of the coronavirus according to the speech presented by the digital channels of El Comercio, studying the notes on its website and videos on its YouTube channel. The main finding indicates that the media discourse of the coronavirus was changing, it began as an anecdotal, distant topic and with a publication between weeks to the other extreme, being described with sensational terms and more than 100 daily publications. The changes in El Comercio's discourse on the coronavirus were related to the expansion of Covid-19 infections from China, through Asia and Europe, reaching South America and Peru, showing more sensationalist characteristics (dealing with the same topic) while more It was found nearby from Peru and then when there were more infections and deaths among Peruvians. / Tesis

This text focuses on the relation of information and image, hence Information Theory and Image Analysis, as well as visualization of information and methods of visual analytics focusing on analysis of art works. It also concentrates on evolution of digital image and related new type of perception and artificial aesthetics. We narrow the broader topic of the image and image information to the abstract art, namely the work of Czech painter Frantisek Kupka, which is used as input in the experiment presenting original method of image analysis using the function of information entropy (Rényi entropy). This approach was used for the first time for analysis of art works with the aim to obtain the comparaison of natural and artificial classification of image information. We chose the work of abstract art not only with regard to given history of grammatics of abstract forms and its relation to the digital image, but also as an emblematic example of effective gaining of information from complex environment. Work thus summarizes historical context of evolution of digital image and theoretical reflection of contemporary image analytics and others techniques relevant to the image information and emphasizes relation of abstract art to the natural and simulated complexity.

Este trabajo de investigación muestra cómo afectan los distintos criterios aplicados en los programas de carácter híbrido, que son una mezcla de los programas periodísticos y de entretenimiento, en la televisión peruana de señal abierta para incluir dentro de sus temas aquellos de carácter policial. Los elementos estudiados para el análisis son la estructura de estos, el rol de los conductores y panelistas, los recursos periodísticos, el lenguaje utilizado y los recursos televisivos. Los casos a estudiar fueron “Camilita” en el programa Válgame emitido en Latina en marzo de 2020, “Angie Jibaja” en Magaly Tv La Firme en ATV en marzo de 2020 y “Thomas Restobar” en La Banda del Chino en América TV en agosto de 2020. A través de la observación y la aplicación de los conceptos se logró concluir que aquellos elementos, en algunos casos, sí afectan al desarrollo de los programas al tocar temas de carácter policial. / This research work shows how the different criteria applied in hybrid programs, which are a mixture of journalistic and entertainment programs, affect Peruvian open signal television to include those of a police nature within its topics. The elements studied for the analysis are their structure, the role of the hosts and panelists, the journalistic resources, the language used and the television resources. The cases to be studied were “Camilita” on the Válgame program broadcast in Latin America in March 2020, “Angie Jibaja” on Magaly Tv La Firme on ATV in March 2020 and “Thomas Restobar” on La Banda del Chino on América TV in August 2020. This diploma thesis describes and analyzes the ethical dimension of content marketing practice on social networks. The rapid pace of technological progress, shaping the birth of participatory Web 2.0 and social networks, has led to an ever-increasing gap between the everyday online experience and the discourse of applied ethics. Three main goals of this thesis are met. First, current academical knowledge (and its limits) in the field of marketing and information ethics is described. Secondly, with the help of Luciano Floridi's Information Ethics, a unified ethical framework for assessing specific moral dilemmas on social networks is constructed. Lastly, this framework is verified in an extensive Reddit case study, where each of the six pillars of the constructed ethical framework (which affects fundamental parameters and manifestations indicating unethical activity) are tested on manifestations of unacknowledged marketing activity. At the same time, the existence and emergence of the so-called ethical vacuum are illustrated, indicating that there is a need to update the theoretical approaches of applied ethics for the specifics of social networks and the infosphere in general.

Student Perspectives of Hope, Stress, and Social Support Provision from Teachers during the COVID-19 Pandemic

The present study investigated the relationship between hope, stress, and social support provision from teachers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The participants were 80 students (i.e., 34 males; 46 females) ranging in age from 16 to 22 from multiple gymnasiums across Sweden. The cross-sectional research design collected data using an online survey. Statistical analyses revealed that there was a negative correlation between perceived stress and hope. Social support from teachers was also found to be positively correlated with hope. The subcategories identifying the nature of the social support provision indicated that levels of stress were negatively correlated with appraisal, informational, and instrumental support. Students’ levels of reported hope were found to correlate with appraisal, informational, instrumental, and emotional support. Gender was also found to be associated with stress, where women reported more perceived stress than men. Taken collectively, the study found that students who feel more hope are less stressed perceive more social support provision from teachers. Implications for teachers and limitations of the present study are discussed. / Denna studie undersökte förhållandet mellan hopp, stress och socialt stöd från lärare under COVID-19 pandemin. Deltagarna var 80 studenter (34 män; 46 kvinnor) i åldrarna 16 till 22 år från gymnasieskolor över hela Sverige. Datan samlades in med hjälp av en onlineundersökning. De statistiska analyserna visade att det fanns ett negativt samband mellan upplevd stress och hopp. Socialt stöd från lärare visade sig också vara positivt korrelerat med hopp. Underkategorierna som identifierade de olika karaktärerna av socialt stöd indikerade att stressnivåerna var negativt korrelerade med bedömning, information och instrumentellt stöd. Studenternas nivåer av rapporterat hopp visade sig korrelera med bedömning, informativt, instrumentellt och emotionellt stöd. Kön visade sig också förknippas med stress, där kvinnor rapporterade mer upplevd stress än män. Sammantaget fann studien att studenter som känner mer hopp är mindre stressade och upplever mer socialt stöd från lärare. Konsekvenser för lärare och begränsningar av denna studie diskuteras.

Kunskap om lösenord och deras säkerhet är idag något som förbises av den gemene datoranvändaren. Lösenordshanterare kan både hjälpa och skydda vid hanteringen av lösenord. De flesta webbläsare idag har inbyggda funktioner för lösenordshantering. Utifrån existerande litteratur kunde det identifieras att det behövs data kring vilka faktorer som påverkar webbläsares användare att använda respektive inte använda dessa inbyggda lösenordshanterare. Syftet med rapporten är att presentera en analys av faktorer som påverkar varför privatpersoner väljer att använda respektive inte använda webbläsares inbyggda lösenordshanterare. Resultatet presenteras med hjälp av kvalitativa semi-strukturerade intervjuer där 33 respondenter deltagit och besvarat frågor kring deras hantering av lösenord och användning av webbläsares inbyggda lösenordshanterare. Resultat från intervjuer visade att faktorer som var av betydande roll för ickeanvändande respondenter var starkt kopplade till datorvana och hur ofta respondenter använde datorn. De faktorer som spelade störst roll för användare av verktyget var enkelhet och tidseffektivitet. Icke-användare tenderade att ha en behovsbrist gällande verktyget, mestadels på grund av deras avsaknad av datoranvändning. Faktorer som påverkar användare och icke-användare visade sig stämma överens med tidigare forskning. Dessutom sammanfattades att antalet respondenter som var användare av lösenordshanterare var betydligt högre än vad som tidigare hävdats i litteratur. Majoriteten av respondenterna (79%) var användare av lösenordshanterare, vilket motsäger tidigare studier som utförts där endast 23% använder sig av lösenordshanterare. / Knowledge of passwords and their security is today something that is overlooked by the everyday computer user. Password managers can both help and protect when managing passwords. Most web browsers today have built-in password management features. Based on existing literature, it could be identified that there is a need for knowledge concerning which factors influence web browser users to use or not use their built-in password managers. The purpose of the report is to present an analysis of factors that affect why private individuals choose to use or not use browsers built-in password managers. The results are presented with the help of qualitative semi-structured interviews in which 33 respondents participated and answered questions about their handling of passwords and the use of web browsers built-in password managers. Results from the interviews showed that factors that were significant for non-user respondents were strongly linked to computer skills and how often respondents used the computer. The factors that played the biggest role for users of the tool were simplicity and time efficiency. Non-users tended to have a lack of need for the tool, mostly because of their lack of computer usage. Factors affecting users and non-users were found to be consistent with previous research. In addition, it was concluded that the number of respondents who were users of password managers was significantly higher than previously claimed in the literature. The majority of respondents (79%) were users of password managers, which contradicts previous studies conducted where only 23% use password managers.
