"SemanticAgent, uma plataforma para desenvolvimento de agentes inteligentes" / SemanticAgent, a platform for development of Intelligent Agents capable of processing restricted natural language.Percival Silva de Lucena 15 April 2003 (has links)
Intelligent Agents is an umbrella term that aggregates different research on the development of autonomous software that uses Artificial Intelligence techniques in order to satisfy user requests. The construction of systems based on intelligent agents is a complex task that involves aspects such as agent communication, planning, work division, cooperation, epresentation and manipulation of knowledge, among other activities. Agent Platforms provide some services that allow developers to build solutions without the need of worrying about every implementation detail. A new model for creating agents, called 'atomic agents', is proposed with the goal of offering flexible knowledge management and behavior implementation for constructing software agents. The Semantic AgentArchitecture provides a framework for the implementation of such model, offering a set of tools for the creation of intelligent agents. A prototype Agent Platform, based on the architecture, was developed in Java and allows the creation of applications that are able to process restricted natural language, manipulate knowledge and execute useful actions.

Can Chatbot technologies answer work email needs? : A case study on work email needs in an accounting firmOlsen, Linnéa January 2021 (has links)
Work email is one of the organisations most critical tool today. It`s have become a standard way to communicate internally and externally. It can also affect our well-being. Email overload has become a well-known issue for many people. With interviews, follow up interviews, and a workshop, three persons from an accounting firm prioritise pre-define emails needs. And identified several other email needs that were added to the priority list. A thematic analysis and summarizing of a Likert scale was conducted to identify underlying work email needs and work email needs that are not apparent. Three work email needs were selected and using scenario-based methods and the elements of PACT to investigating how the characteristics of a chatbot can help solve the identified work email overload issue? The result shows that email overload is percept different from individual to individual. The choice of how email is handled and email activities indicate how email overload feeling is experienced. The result shows a need to get a sense of the email content quickly, fast collect financial information and information from Swedish authorities, and repetitive, time-consuming tasks. Suggestions on how this problem can be solved have been put forward for many years, and how to use machine learning to help reduce email overload. However, many of these proposed solutions have not yet been implemented on a full scale. One conclusion may be that since email overload is not experienced in the same way, individuals have different needs - One solution does not fit all. With the help of the character of a chatbot, many problems can be solved. And with a technological character of a chatbot that can learn individuals' email patterns, suggest email task to the user and performing tasks to reducing the email overload perception. Using keyword for email intents to get a sense of the email content faster and produce quick links where to find information about the identified subject. And to work preventive give the user remainder and perform repetitive tasks on specific dates.

Don’t be unfair, Mr Bot! : An empirical study exploring the perception of fairness in non-work settings for human-agent interactionsBäckström, August, Ekenberg, William January 2023 (has links)
This study aimed to explore the implementation of fairness in intelligent agents to enhance their interactions in our social space. Two distinct investigations, an experiment, and a focus group, were conducted to examine the impact of unfair treatment by non-anthropomorphic and anthropomorphic agents, where we sought to answer the research question: How does experiencing unfair treatment from agents with different appearances influence individuals' perceptions, satisfaction, and trust? The experiment encompassed four experimental conditions combining fair and unfair behaviours with agents displaying human-like or non-human-like appearances. User enactment, Experience prototyping, and the Wizard of Oz technique were employed during the experiment. The focus group aimed to delve into the concept of fairness and its relevance to agents in greater detail. In summary, the study's findings indicate that fairness is a significantly important consideration in agent design. However, the complexity of designing a fair agent proves challenging, due to the subjective and contextual nature where it entangles with various factors. / Toward socially competent AI: Designing multi-user interaction with embodied intelligent agents to support politeness and fairness (SCAI)

Visualising Autonomous Warehouse Data Streams Through User-Centered Design / Visualisering av dataströmmar från autonoma lager genom användarcentrerad designNayyar, Raghu January 2018 (has links)
This thesis aims to develop and evaluate a dashboard design that visualizes a stream of data from the different entities involved in autonomous warehouses, a subset of cyber-physical systems. I created this dashboard through User-Centered Design (UCD) methodologies based on two feedback iterations with the stakeholders employing semi-structured expert opinion interviews. This thesis also discusses the different stages involved in building this dashboard design, the design decisions, the technical aspects of the libraries used, and the feedback session towards the end of the project. It also presents the implemented dashboard as a proof of development efforts and explains its different functionalities. The project concludes with evaluating the dashboard through a semi-structured interview with the respective stakeholders and suggests features for further development.

Adaptive investment strategies for different scenariosBarrientos, Jesús Emeterio Navarro 20 September 2010 (has links)
Energie, Zeitverbrauch, erwartete Lebensdauer, etc. / The main goal of this PhD thesis is to investigate some of the problems related to optimization of resources in environments with unpredictable behavior where: (i) not all information is available and (ii) the environment presents unknown temporal changes. The investigations in this PhD thesis are divided in two parts: Part I presents the investment model and some analytical as well as numerical analysis of the dynamics of this model for fixed investment strategies in different random environments. In this investment model, the dynamics of the investor''s budget x(t) depend on the stochasticity of the exogenous return on investment r(t) for which different model assumptions are discussed. The fat-tail distribution of the budget is investigated numerically and compared with theoretical predictions. Part II investigates an investment scenario with stylized exogenous returns characterized by a periodic function with different types and levels of noise. In this scenario, different strategies, agent''s behaviors and agent''s capacities to predict the future r(t) are investigated. Here, ''zero-intelligent'' agents using technical analysis (such as moving least squares) are compared with agents using genetic algorithms to predict r(t). Results are presented for extensive computer simulations, which shows that for exogenous returns with periodicity: (i) the daring behavior outperforms the cautious behavior and (ii) the genetic algorithm is able to find the optimal investment strategy by itself, thus outperforming the other strategies considered. Finally, the investment model is extended to include the formation of common investment projects between agents. Although the main focus of this PhD thesis is more related to the area of computer science, the results presented here can be also applied to scenarios where the agent has to control other kinds of resources, such as energy, time consumption, expected life time, etc.

SweetDeal: Representing Agent Contracts With Exceptions using XML Rules, Ontologies, and Process DescriptionsGROSOF, BENJAMIN, POON, TERRENCE C. 16 September 2003 (has links)
SweetDeal is a rule-based approach to representation of business contracts that enables software agents to create, evaluate, negotiate, and execute contracts with substantial automation and modularity. It builds upon the situated courteous logic programs knowledge representation in RuleML, the emerging standard for Semantic Web XML rules. Here, we newly extend the SweetDeal approach by also incorporating process knowledge descriptions whose ontologies are represented in DAML+OIL (the close predecessor of W3C's OWL, the emerging standard for Semantic Web ontologies), thereby enabling more complex contracts with behavioral provisions, especially for handling exception conditions (e.g., late delivery or non-payment) that might arise during the execution of the contract. This provides a foundation for representing and automating deals about services – in particular, about Web Services, so as to help search, select, and compose them. We give a detailed application scenario of late delivery in manufacturing supply chain management (SCM). In doing so, we draw upon our new formalization of process ontology knowledge from the MIT Process Handbook, a large, previously-existing repository used by practical industrial process designers. Our system is the first to combine emerging Semantic Web standards for knowledge representation of rules (RuleML) with ontologies (DAML+OIL/OWL) with each other, and moreover for a practical e-business application domain, and further to do so with process knowledge. This also newly fleshes out the evolving concept of Semantic Web Services. A prototype (soon public) i
