O campo e os princípios de repetição: ensaio sobre o inconsciente segundo Gilles Deleuze (1953-1968) / The field and the repetition\'s principles: essay on Gilles Deleuze\'s concept of unconscious (1953-1968)

Coelho, Bruna Martins 10 March 2014 (has links)
The following dissertation introduces the \"unconscious\" as an intrinsical matter of Gilles Deleuze\'s intellectual path. Having as a horizon \"Difference and Repetition\", which would answer, among others, the attempt of constructing a notion of the \"unconscious\" as an \"immanent field\", simultaneously with the critic of the traditional image of thought, it is shown how this project was already being developt on his monographic studies about Hume, Bergson, Nietzsche, Proust and Sacher-Masoch. Together with the \"unconscious\" issue as a field, Deleuze thinks both the temporal and the constitutional of the subject, or of the unpersonal individualizations, processes from the repetition, major ontological concept, through the description of syntheses operated by habit, memory, the eternal return and by the death instinct. Firstly introduced on Deleuze\'s monographys, \"Diference and Repetition\" reintroduces these synthesis as of the \"time\" or of the \"unconscious\", refunding a transcendental esthetics. Replace the \"unconscious\" problem giving it a positive ontological status, depends on it\'s dialogue with Freud\'s and Lacan\'s psychoanalysis and with the ontologies of the negative, which they were tributed to.

Elements for a Libidinal Theory of Images

Nijhuis, Marta 22 October 2018 (has links)
This research is the outcome of a montage intertwining contemporary art, film, and advertisement images with philosophical theory, following the direction set by two aesthetic figures that have traditionally been related to the notion of image, namely the mirror and the veil. What emerges is an unprecedented aesthetic figure, i. e., the prismatic veil, which, bouncing between the mirror and the veil, brings along an anti-dualistic interpretation of the world of the visible inspired by the Merleau-Pontian notion of flesh understood as a differential fabric in which things and beings only give themselves as differences with respect to all other things and beings. In the prismatic veil, the flesh is filtered through the Deleuzian notion of « crystal-image », and hence enriched with a faceted and multiple temporality that echoes Deleuze’s own reading of Nietzsche’s eternal return, and hence characterising it with a fundamental libidinal approach, which, in this study, is analysed with a particular emphasis on Lacan.By reacting to the Merleau-Pontian notion of flesh and to the mythical temporality that Merleau-Ponty himself associates to it, the temporality of the crystal-image makes the figure of the prismatic veil emerge as a sort of « flesh 2.0 », hence realising a contemporary theoretical tool aiming at favouring the understanding of the increasingly immersive and enveloping features of the present experience of images, including the implications that such an experience implies as for the identity of the viewer and for the perception of truth that is bond to his/her/their gaze. All this, without forgetting the aspect of seduction that characterises the visual universe, and hence confirming the intimate connection that intertwines images and desire.

Interpreting The Denizens of The Hundred Acre Wood : Freudian & Lacanian psychoanalytical concepts in Winnie-The-Pooh / Psykoanalytiska koncept i Nalle Puh : En tolkning av Sjumilaskogens invånare

Pettersson, Timothy January 2009 (has links)
In this paper I have strived to provide a new view on a timeless classic of children’s literature, Winnie-The-Pooh. In psychoanalytic literary criticism concepts and theories of psychoanalysis is implemented while interpreting literature; in this paper, I have interpreted the novel incorporating concepts of the psychoanalytic schools of Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan while arguing that the denizens of the Hundred Acre Wood are manifestations of parts of the narrator’s unconscious. The first two sections of the paper present the theories and concepts of the two major schools of psychoanalysis as an introduction aimed at increasing the readability of the interpretation. The individual interpretations of each character are then presented separately, every section in some way involving psychoanalytic theory. Kanga, Roo, Piglet, Winnie-the-Pooh, Christopher Robin, Rabbit, Owl and Eeyore are shown to be repressed memories, feelings or thoughts. Included theoretical concepts are the Oedipus complex, the sexual development of infants, the journey of children towards consciousness, Lacanian desire and lack, Freudian dream interpretation and the conception that the unconscious is structured as language, among others.

As consequence, the study provides a context of Psychoanalytic theory teaching in Brazilian academy, specifically in Psychology graduation courses. The research approaches to issues on psychoanalysis teaching in Psychology courses and within clinical supervision. In such perspective, there can be the formulation of a knowledge based on which psychoanalyst can establish a subversion of University discourses (student’s, professor’s, hysterics’, analyst’s), being aware of his/her semblance of someone who knows everything and conscientious of the Other’s absence. For that, the research highlights that knowledge transmission carried out within clinical supervision should be similar to the transmission of a “not all” knowledge, by means of Lacan’s “teacher” device for Ecole Freudienne de Paris (EFP). Nonetheless, the study retakes some important periods that reflect Freud’s irresoluteness in the concerning to Psychoanalysis insertion at academic environment, and to the misunderstandings raised on the right place to psychoanalyst’s instruction, which Freud argued in some texts. It provides the thread of theoretical bases that influenced both Freud and Lacan, and what the possibility for psychoanalytic transmission inside and out Psychoanalysis institutions, as well as at the University, represented for each of them. It describes how Lacan advanced within theory in the related to teaching, as a result of his return to Freudian work, which triggered the Four Discourses Theory elaboration and, later, it made possible to handle “teacher” device by psychoanalyst during teaching, using hysterics’ discourse.

According to Lacan, Freud promoted the foundation of a pioneer way to the problem of subjectivity, which, as it included the concept of unconscious, revolutionized all the approaches to ethics until that moment. It would not be possible, after Freud, to understand ethics without the imaginary dimension of fantasy. On the other hand, Kant with Sade is revealed as the symptom of an important impasse at Lacan s theoretical trajectory, especially concerning the relations among law, jouissance, and desire. This work intends to indicate the antecedents of the problem of ethics in Lacan s work that culminates in the production of the article in 1962.

Borges, um estranho : litorais entre a literatura e a psicanálise / The uncanny Borges : littorals between literature and psychoanalysis

Leme, Patrícia de Oliveira, 1986- 02 January 2013 (has links)
This work consists in a reading of Jorge Luis Borges' style beginning from a disquieting narrative effect, which is liable to be approached by the psychoanalytic area through the enigmatic concept of the uncanny. For the elaboration of this hypothesis three Borges' short stories were primarily chosen: "La escritura del dios", "La muerte y la brújula" and "Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius". Even having made other incursions into the vast borgesian oeuvre, these three narratives constitute the needed frame for the understanding of certain mechanisms of the borgesian style, which in this work figure in the end as elements cause of uncanniness. In the first chapter these texts were boarded as reading scenes in a procedure that aimed to make explicit this disquieting Borges' writing effect, as well as to underline its repercussion in the field of literary criticism. The impact that the borgesian style had on his critics could elucidate some crucial points to the entanglement with the psychoanalytic theory in the posterior chapters, as well as recovering important keys for the reading in the proposed outlining. In the second chapter was promoted a reading of Freud's "The uncanny" through this aspect of the functioning of the borgesian oeuvre: their points of contact could reveal that the concept created by Freud overcomes the boundaries of its own elaboration, making itself present as a place of enunciation of the uncanny rather than a concept closed in its own bases. This movement summoned, in the third chapter, the resumption of the uncanny concept in the seminar, book 10. The anguish, by Jacques Lacan. In this work Lacan promotes an elaboration of a paradigmatic notion for the psychoanalytic field, the object a, starting from the uncanny as an effect of its appearance on the subjective structure. The lacanian theories in his eighteenth seminar were essential in order to compose the entanglement with the literary form, as they shed light on the notions of discourse and writing, especially in his "Lesson on Lituraterre". The establishment of the letter as littoral between knowledge and jouissance, as well as its way of function through the erasure, allowed to sustain this reading hypothesis, which was raised from an effect: there is something that causes uncanniness in Borges' writing and it shows itself beyond the register of the narrated story, constituting a formal operation that produces this writing effect / Mestrado / Linguistica / Mestra em Linguística
