Vatiga infestations in Cassava can cause serious production losses. Although importance economic, there are few research work about morphological description this species, relevant item in pest identification at the beginning of infestation and for use in phylogenetic analysis. Furthermore, not many records occur of Vatiga species and resistant genotypes to prague. That way, has been described and illustred the external morphology all the phases of V. illudens life, evaluated at resistance of five genotypes of cassava at this species and raising the occurence of insects of the genus Vatiga in Cassava comercial crops. About morphology, the eggs´s whitish, oblong-shaped and deposited inside of leaf. Nymphs, the dorsal surface of the head and body side margins have spikes; from the second to fifth instar the cephalic and lateral spikes become more visible, but in least amount that V. manihotae. Genotypic resistance showed that insects supplied Mecu 72 genotype had affected their development, thereby increasing nymphal and eggs-adults period, reducing significantly the fertility.

Andrea Liliana Rey Sandoval 00 May 2018 (has links)
Of lace and skin is a research about an immersion in search of characteristic artisanal expressions in the state of CearÃ, Brasil, specifically the bobbin lace. Here, I recount an experience in which I did appropiations of pieces made by local artisans that developed into a number of artistic works where I explored the plastic correlation between the cloth and the human skin, their markings and the tangible and poetic connection of both surfaces with the sense of touch. This journey also allowed me to reflect upon my creative process and the procedures I had used previously. Consequently, I was able to apply and share them in this search, something that was possible due to a method that gave importance to the practice and the sharing of knowledge within a research group. In the same way, I brought to discussion the voice of some theorists that fostered and gave consistence to my reflections, and also artists who share my work, either for using the same material (cloth â thread) or for the creation patterns they employ.

This study analyzes the impact that the degree in Bachelor of Science in Accounting because the formation of the income of the accounting profession in the state of Pernambuco, in order to estimate how much income the accountant with higher education - counter - increases in relation to the accountant with mid-level training - accounting technician. For this, an empirical analysis with professionals from throughout the state was conducted through a questionnaire, in order to determine whether such a relationship exists and what are the other possible variables that can be crucial to a better level of remuneration. The results show that the factors that most influence to obtain higher salaries for accountants are: level of professional training, execution region of jobs in the state, sex, race and uptime. Already econometric results showed that professionals with a degree in Accounting, male, working in the Metropolitan Region of Recife and having a higher level of experience are more likely to earn higher incomes. It was concluded also that accountants, regardless of their training, whether medium or higher level believe that accounting professionals with counter title, can have income greater than the accounting technician.

Learning to Listen Again: The Role of Compliance in Auditory Training for Adults With Hearing Loss

Chisolm, Theresa Hnath, Saunders, Gabrielle H., Frederick, Melissa T., McArdle, Rachel A., Smith, Sherri L., Wilson, Richard H. 01 December 2013 (has links)
Purpose: To examine the role of compliance in the outcomes of computer-based auditory training with the Listening and Communication Enhancement (LACE) program in Veterans using hearing aids. Method: The authors examined available LACE training data for 5 tasks (i.e., speech-in-babble, time compression, competing speaker, auditory memory, missing word) from 50 hearing-aid users who participated in a larger, randomized controlled trial designed to examine the efficacy of LACE training. The goals were to determine: (a) whether there were changes in performance over 20 training sessions on trained tasks (i.e., on-task outcomes); and (b) whether compliance, defined as completing all 20 sessions, vs. noncompliance, defined as completing less than 20 sessions, influenced performance on parallel untrained tasks (i.e., off-task outcomes). Results: The majority, 84% of participants, completed 20 sessions, with maximum outcome occurring with at least 10 sessions of training for some tasks and up to 20 sessions of training for others. Comparison of baseline to posttest performance revealed statistically significant improvements for 4 of 7 off-task outcome measures for the compliant group, with at least small (0.2 < d < 0.3) Cohen's d effect sizes for 3 of the 4. There were no statistically significant improvements observed for the noncompliant group. Conclusion: The high level of compliance in the present study may be attributable to use of systematized verbal and written instructions with telephone follow-up. Compliance, as expected, appears important for optimizing the outcomes of auditory training. Methods to improve compliance in clinical populations need to be developed, and compliance data are important to report in future studies of auditory training.

Dull Points : Surrounding Space as Wearables Through Digital Technology and Reused Lace

Kruse Demitz-Helin, Sofie January 2024 (has links)
The presented project utilises immersive digital technology to materialise the surrounding space of the human body for the development of sculptural wearables in fashion design. By considering Grosz’s framework on the individual’s personal surrounding space as the theoretical foundation for interpreting body-space interactions, the experimental practices in this project use the designer’s body across the digital and physical realms to transform the surrounding space into spatial bodies. These spatial bodies become wearable constructions in tangible materials, i.e., reused lace, as extensions of the self, showcasing one’s surrounding space.

(Un)Veiled: An Examination of Conscience

Dauscha, April 10 May 2012 (has links)
I use the body to investigate the ideas of morality, mourning and mortification. I look towards costume history, traditional Catholic rituals and themes in 19th century literature to feed my obsession with transformation, reconciliation and communication through dress. My making focuses on feminine objects and materials. Lace, veils, undergarments and hair adornment speak not only of womanhood, but also of the duality of human nature. Lace speaks of purity and sexuality, it reveals and conceals, it is humble, yet gluttonous in its ornamental overindulgence; lace is the ultimate dichotomy. I use it as a potent symbol to represent the duality of body and soul, right and wrong, good and evil. Historically, neglected, disheveled and unbound hair was a sign of mourning and penance, a physical representation of one's sin and sorrow. In my work, hair comes to represent an uncomfortable binding of one's self to one's alter ego, while helping to serve as an act of penance and mortification. As I make, my hands hopelessly yearn to create beauty from burdens; the repetitive and penitential process of stitching creates a metaphor for my longing towards perfection and purification. My use of video, photography and installation work to provide a unique experience for the viewer, for here they are invited to enter these imaginary worlds of wonder.

Contribuições da psicanálise lacaniana às práticas de grupo nas instituições de saúde / Contributions of Lacanian psychoanalysis to group practices in health institutions

Cruz, Ivan do Nascimento 05 February 2015 (has links)
This research aims to problematize the device group from Lacanian psychoanalysis. The question with which we started was: If psychoanalysis points to the singular subject, how to work with groups devices without dissolving them in a universal? Initially, we mapped some historical elements of the emergence of the notion of group. We extracted from this that such notion is born simultaneously with the notion of the individual, both taken as totalities. Psychoanalysis, in turn, does not arise from the individual, because it is based and has as intervention goal the subject, so that the device group should also take it into account. Subsequently, the group theme is investigated in the works of S. Freud, Bion, E. Pichon-Rivière J. Lacan seeking to extract from them a collective logic. From Freud, we have a scheme in which the tendency of the group is to make dough, identifying both vertically under a master insignia placed as the Ideal Self, and horizontally among subjects starting from themselves, tending to erase their singularities through an imaginary whole group. Therewith, we see the issue of identification become a central point in the matter of groups. Thus we seek elements that could help us so that the group does not give in to imaginary effects. Faced with this, Bion brought a first contribution of the \"leaderless group\", to which the analyst does not act in the place of leader, bringing the important idea of not to complete the group; Pichon, in turn, brings the idea of interdependence of individuals stating a collective logic, since the subjects are not isolated monads. Thereafter, it was important to make use of the cartel device, organ base of Lacanian School, which points to a not complete group, since the function of the +1 is precisely not complete the group in order to mitigate its imaginary effects. Our next step was to approach the \"effects of subjects\" - as opposed to imaginary effects - from the use of clinical vignettes used on groups treatment in articulating their contribution to the Lacanian triad Imaginary, Symbolic and Real. The consideration of these three records, pointed to another way of universalizing a group as waiving significant, since what Lacan has termed as escape object to their symbolic and imaginary determinations in its identificatory and homogenizing trends. Extracted such collective logic, it is possible to indicate that, in a group, the analyst has his role anchored in the object. In addition, the analyst must consider the effects of speech that individuals have with each other, since the transfer circulates between subjects. Since the subjects in groups tend to respond to each other demands, we conclude that it\'s important the psychoanalyst to circulate the word, in a way to keep an open meaning, so no one will take the place of the Ideal I. Finally we provide a reading framework for the ambivalent group experiences: as productive experiences (determination and indeterminacy) but also unproductive (of indeterminacy and determination). Lastly, we conclude that the group device can be an important tool for clinical policy in the field of health care intervention and ethics
