Thereunto, we have selected Glauco Mattoso, a native of São Paulo poet who passes through several faces of the recent brazilian poetry. Of his vast production, we analyze, in this work, only the sonnets, without a cutting of composition or phase - we worry about the presence of God in his sonnets collection. To do so, we have read, written up and cataloged three thousand sonnets, and twenty-nine of them found the presence of God with real meaning to the content. However, we have analyzed carefully only a small part of these sonnets. For the analysis, we have anchored on the concepts of literary criticism coming from Iumna Maria Simon and Vinicius Dantas, the reflections of Hugo Friederich, and on sociological relationships of men with God studies, by Roger Bastide. The work is divided into three chapters. The first, "Um exercício de história" (A History Exercise), tries to situate the contemporary Brazilian poetry and insert Glauco Mattoso in this scenario. Also in this chapter, relevant and influential artists appear in Glauco's literary education and in the formation of pornographic and accursed tradition of portuguese language. The second chapter, "De onde vem e como vemos" (Whence it comes and how we see it), is the theoretical framework we use to read Glauco's poetry. Initially, we present Iumna Maria Simon's and Vinícius Dantas's theories, and then Hugo Friederich's. After that, these concepts are applied separately in some Glauco's poems with a distinct theme from the one we have investigated. Finally, we discuss the sociological categories defined by Roger Bastide. In the last chapter, the poems are analyzed following four different categories, but similar with regard to the theme. We ascertain the poems in it's interpretation about the divine figure, the poems in which God acts, or is claimed to act in the political, egocentric, and reversal horizons. Throughout the work, we try to understand the ways how the divine figure is treated in Glauco's poetry, and by extension, we try to point out the relations of man and God in today's society / O trabalho que ora se apresenta versa sobre a presença das imagens de Deus na poesia contemporânea.

Conceituação do gênero zuihitsu: análise comparativa de textos de Makura no sôshi e Tsurezuregusa / Conceptualization of the genre zuihitsu: comparative analysis of some texts in Makura no sôshi and Tsurezuregusa

Kawai, Karen Mie 07 December 2015 (has links)
The study of classic Japanese literatures genre zuihitsu is a challenge for scholars in Brazil, because besides the difficulties about languages differences, it incurs in a new conceptualizations of written genres. Although some scholars consider it as equivalent to Western essays, it is possible to observe some disparitys that indicate a need to adjust our critical view to the Eastern genre. In order to achieve that goal, we had approached some questions about Western genres definitions through a historical and literary overviews, as well as we had taken into consideration the terms etymology, and referred some ponderations about the linguistic character following some of the Wittgenstein theory concepts. After that, we intended to outline a scheme of essays as a literary genre, retracing its history, through passages of Montaigne\'s Essays, of some texts from Bacon, Hume and Adorno, among others essayists and critics that deal with the subject, in order to delineate its characteristics. More than that, we have examined, from its formulations and its reception, the possibility of finding also such a tradition in Brazil. Subsequently, we have seek mapping zuihitsu origins in confrontation to the essays ones. In addition, thereafters, we have analysed some texts from Makura no sôshi and compared them to others from Tsurezuregusa, two of the three masterpieces which are considered basic and essential to understanding the Japanese genre. This comparative analysis was done by means of their common themes, such as the written motivations, some considerations of four seasons, moments in idleness or even monks. Our aim was to bring out similarities and differences between them to elucidate genre characteristics that bring them nearer or make them apart of essays, hoping that this would lead us doing some adjustments of our critical view. Finally we have finalized this dissertation by referring some considerations on the Western genre, the essays, the zuihitsu, and the comparison of Japanese classical pieces, which lead us to conceptualyze the Japanese genre.

Lima, Leandro Antonio de 14 November 2012 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-03-15T19:47:29Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Leandro Antonio de Lima.pdf: 2560703 bytes, checksum: fab355d9dad62241982f2c450f18345f (MD5) Previous issue date: 2012-11-14 / The book of Revelation ascribed to the Apostle John, is the last book of the Biblical Canon, and one of the most read and researched throughout History, from both popular and academic perspectives. Its symbolisms and catastrophic descriptions greatly influenced the western world, gave name to a specific genre of ancient literature (apocalyptic literature), and were object of studies, illustrations and romance themes for almost two thousand years. In spite of the book s popularity it wasn t much examined for its literary qualities and the art of its narrative, except by some critics who were more interested in fragmenting it in disconnected sources rather than understanding the richness of its literary production. Even among the scholars who detected the complex recapitulation theory of the book, the literary analyses didn t get far, and was more focused on providing subsidies for theological systems or answers for the distresses of its interpreter s times. A thorough analysis of its literary resources, however, reveals the greatness of its style, the sense of its purposes and the unity of the book. There are rich intertextual relations with the Old Testament, especially with Genesis and Daniel, as there are common features such as repetition, numerology, and cross-references. The book of Revelation also develops a cyclic plot in which the idea of God as a cosmic sovereign who guides the world to the fulfillment of his purposes excels; as well as interpretations for the enemy, the Dragon that opposes to him, thus explaining the paradoxical reality of first century Christianity which was under persecution by the Roman Empire. By considering the art in the narrative text of Revelation not only does the book get much more extraordinary for the reader, but its theological and moral meanings become more accessible.

Late-Byzantine hagiographer : Philotheos Kokkinos and his Vitae of Contemporary Saints

Mitrea, Mihail January 2018 (has links)
This dissertation offers the first systematic historical contextualization and literary analysis of the five saints' lives composed by Philotheos Kokkinos (ca. 1300-1378) for his contemporaries Nikodemos the Younger, Sabas the Younger, Isidore Boucheir, Germanos Maroules, and Gregory Palamas. Notwithstanding Kokkinos' prominent role in the political and ecclesiastical scene of fourteenth-century Byzantium, as well as the size and significance of his hagiographic oeuvre, both the hagiographer and his saints' lives have received surprisingly little scholarly attention. My dissertation fills this gap and shows Kokkinos as a gifted hagiographer who played a leading role, both through his ecclesiastical authority and hagiographic discourse, in orchestrating the societal breakthrough of hesychast theology that has remained at the core of Christian Orthodoxy up to this day. The dissertation is structured in three parts. The first, Philotheos Kokkinos and His OEuvre, offers an extensive biographical portrait of Kokkinos, introduces his literary oeuvre, and discusses its manuscript tradition. A thorough palaeographical investigation of fourteenth-century codices carrying his writings reveals Kokkinos' active involvement in the process of copying, reviewing, and publishing his own works. This section includes an analysis of the 'author's edition' manuscript Marcianus graecus 582, and presents its unusual fate. Moreover, Part I establishes the chronology of Kokkinos' vitae of contemporary saints and offers biographical sketches of his heroes, highlighting their relationship to their hagiographer. The second part, Narratological Analysis of Kokkinos' Vitae of Contemporary Saints, constitutes the first comprehensive analysis of Kokkinos' narrative technique. It first discusses the types of hagiographic composition ('hagiographic genre') Kokkinos employed for his saints' lives (hypomnema, bios kai politeia, and logos), and then it offers a detailed investigation that sheds light on the organization of the narrative in Kokkinos' vitae and his use of specific narrative devices. This includes a discussion of hesychastic elements couched in the narrative. Part II concludes with considerations on Kokkinos' style and intended audience. The third part, Saints and Society, begins with a detailed quantitative and qualitative analysis of the miracle accounts Kokkinos wove in his saints' lives. This considers the miracle typology, types of afflictions, methods of healing, and the demographic characteristics of the beneficiaries (such as age, gender, and social status), revealing that Kokkinos shows a predilection for including miracles for members of the aristocracy. Second, it presents Kokkinos' view on the relationship between the imperial office and ecclesiastical authority by analysing how he portrays the emperor(s) in his vitae. Moreover, this part addresses the saints' encounters with the 'other' (Muslims and Latins), revealing Kokkinos' nuanced understanding of the threats and opportunities raised by these interactions. Finally, it makes the claim that through his saints' lives Kokkinos offers models of identification and refuge in the troubled social and political context of fourteenth-century Byzantium, promoting a spiritual revival of society. As my dissertation shows, Kokkinos' vitae of contemporary saints sought to shape and were shaped by the political and theological disputes of fourteenth-century Byzantium, especially those surrounding hesychasm. Their analysis offers insights into the thought-world of their author and sheds more light on the late-Byzantine religious and cultural context of their production. The dissertation is equipped with six technical appendices presenting the chronology of Kokkinos' life and works, the narrative structure of his vitae of contemporary saints, a critical edition of the preface of his hitherto unedited Logos on All Saints (BHG 1617g), a transcription of two hitherto unedited prayers Kokkinos addressed to the emperors, the content of Marc. gr. 582 and Kokkinos' autograph interventions, and manuscript plates.

Pérez López, Ana María 09 February 2006 (has links)
The aim of this Doctoral Thesis has been the study of the amorous conceptions which are present in the spanish novel of the Restoration period (taking Benito Pérez Galdós works as a point of reference), especially regarding an idealistic point of view, and considering the following two aspects:1.The importance of amorous speech for the structural and thematic constitution of these works, since it is an essential component in the sentimental, moral, and intellectual configuration of their protagonists.2.The underlying ideologies which can be discovered through the exegesis and the analysis of the relevant texts in their relation to amorous conceptions of the authors of that time. We have focused on the influence of the most important schools of thought at the end of the XIX th. century (Idealism, Positivism, Pragmatism and Spirituality), and on their reflection and development in the Spanish novel in the Restoration period.

Survivre en poésie dans un régime totalitaire : Yéghiché Tcharents, 1933-1937 (pour une tentative de traduction) / Survice in poetry in a totalitarian regime : Yéghiché Tcharents, 1933-1937 (for a translate's attempt)

Mouradian, Élisabeth 16 September 2015 (has links)
The Armenian poet Yeghishe Charents (1897-1937) becomes victim of Stalin’s repressions in the Thirties. Charents is already known as a poet when the revolution bursts in Russia. He sees in the revolution the saver of his people with the tragic destiny. Like many of his contemporaries he believes in the humanistic ideals of Lenin. However, the totalitarian power of Stalin changes his political views. His poetry reflects his concerns. In 1933, the collection of poems Book of the way, a report of his poetic vision of the new society, as well as the education of the Soviet man, is censored. It is published with changes. Charents, the poet actively involved in a number of social issues, cannot hide his dissension and disillusion with respect to the political power. He bespeaks through his poetry. The repressive system does not leave him any more in peace. He is accused of being a contra-revolutionist, trotskyist, nationalist, terrorist. In July 1936, he is put under house arrest. Poetry remains the sole space where he thinks and writes freely. Ill and aware of the imminence of his death, he survives in his universe of visions thanks to his poetry. The argumentation of this doctoral thesis is built on the literary analysis of the texts in the corpus: the Book of the way and the poetic texts of 1935 to 1937. A concise study of the historical-political context of his poetry and a literary analysis of his work before 1933 are also proposed. This allows to better perceive the complexity of the relations between the poet-individual and his time and, finally joins all the elements necessary for the translation, which is an objective of this doctoral study.

Méšova stéla a její přínos k interpretaci třetí kapitoly Druhé knihy královské / The Stele of Mesha and its Relevance for the interpretation of 2 King 3

KUČEROVÁ, Veronika January 2010 (has links)
The paper is concerned with the synchronic analysis of two ancient texts, i. e. 2 Kings 3, and the Mesha´s stele. Both of them mention an Israelite-Moabite conflict, and it is said they contain two different reports of the same event. The purpose of this thesis is to reconsider this assertion. Both texts were analyzed and their respective literary genres were determined. Then the texts were compared with regard to the aforementioned conflict. At the end of the paper the author concludes, it is neither possible to affirm with any certainty, that both texts reflect the same historical event, nor to disprove it.

Tajemství ženy a šelmy: rétoricko-narativní analýza Zjevení 17:1 - 18 / The Mystery of the Woman and the Beast: Rhetorical-Narrative Analysis of Revelation 17:1 - 18

Schejbal, Michal January 2018 (has links)
The Mystery of the Woman and the Beast Rhetorical-Narrative Analysis of Revelation 17:1-18 This diploma thesis called "The Mystery of the Woman and the Beast" seeks to unveil the mysterious message of Revelation 17:1-18 by applying the rhetorical-narrative analysis to the text. This analysis entails a specific methodology drawn from the synthesis of both rhetorical and narrative criticism with special regard to persuasive features. The conception of the thesis is based on understanding the message of the text in its own right communicated primarily to its own implicit audience distancing itself from premature theologizing often done especially when dealing with the book of Revelation. Due to the narrative focus of the thesis, considerable space is devoted to analyzing apocalyptic literary tradition and literary aspects of the book itself. Attention is paid to the origin of the apocalyptic tradition as well as the nature of its genre together with its specific motifs and function. The book of Revelation is seen as a part of long-developing apocalyptic tradition sharing some common traits while still being original in its own right. The unique qualities of Revelation are then fully explored in the following chapter. Of particular importance are the genre, imagery, intertextuality, and structure of the book....

This research consists principally in a dance dramaturgical analysis, of the O Santo Inquérito spectacle, presented at Belém City, in the 80’s, staged and exhibited by the Coreografic Group of the Federal Uni versity of Pará, under the choreographic and general direction of the dancer, choreograph ant teacher, Eni Corrêa. To understanding the way in which inscribes the dramaturgy in the dance, who has as pretext, a dramaturgy writen specifically to the theatrical staging. We began collecting data through interviews with the spectacle director, whom allowed herself returning two decades behind in her memory, to remember her staging processes, in a feelings mixture between: longing, happiness and excitation of bringing in her thinking dancers images, figurants, and technical theatrical team, allowing us to investigate her choreographic conception process, to reach our objectif to analyse the dance dramaturgy. Beyond the interviews, we start to analyse the spectacle, through the videotape observation, the data collection, like the dress models, the scenography, the poster, the photographies and the document sent to the dramaturge Dias Gomes. In this way, we roamed about scene by scene of that choreographic spectacle, which gave us a scenic material multiplicity, like the music, the scenery, the choreography, the text and the ilumination, which materialized in scene, indicated its artistic languages autonomy, but, in the same time, coming together to the spectacle dramaturgy tissue, here being studied. To the dramaturge and actor Eugênio Barba, a general dramaturgy, in other way, the reunion of various elements or ingredients materialized in scene, that concur to the dramaturgy construction, which inserts in the whole of the scenic mounting work. In this context, this investigation configures in a qualitative approach based in the study of a case.
