No. of bitstreams: 1 Jorge Garcia Basso.pdf: 12299381 bytes, checksum: 3f90d30ed4d89aeffcca6ad216794043 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-02-26 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / This is a study of the trajectory of Agenor Miranda Rocha s formation and experiences as a Portuguese Language and Literature teacher at Colégio Pedro II (Pedro II School), in Rio de Janeiro, between the decades of 1930 and 1960, as well as his practice as a spiritual leader (oluô and olossãe) of nagô-kêtu religious traditions, in Brazil. The research is based on documents that record his memories, in testimonials of people with whom he was related, and in his private collection, which is partially preserved in the house where he lived during the last years of his life. This study is guided by Carlo Ginzburg evidential method, which reconstructs characteristics of one s life itinerary and the formation and diversity of one s experiences. It was aimed in the construction of the study to detail and rebuild the sociability nets and the contexts in which the teacher and spiritual leader describes his actions, revealing one of the main assumptions of the research, the one that says that the individuals are constituted by their social practices conduct, having to be considered the relationships to which they are attached, the actions that they promote and the ones that have been inherited, all of them dynamic and contradictory, as E. P. Thompson indicates. Through the study of Agenor Miranda Rocha s trajectory it was possible to identify, in a microscale, the endurance and the practices of knowledge formation and transmission present on nagô-kêtu candomble communities, from the African matrix, as strongholds of Afro-Brazilian knowledge and memories. From the analysis of this teacher and spiritual leader s experiences, it is possible to follow the link between the written and the oral communication, the dominant and the subordinate ones, revealing the mechanisms of circularity present in his trajectory / Este é um estudo da trajetória de formação e das experiências de Agenor Miranda Rocha como professor de Língua e Literatura Portuguesa, no Colégio Pedro II do Rio de Janeiro, entre as décadas de 1930 e 1960, e como sacerdote - oluô e olossãe - das tradições religiosas nagô-kêtu, no Brasil.

Considering the idea of elective affinity, it is possible to affirm that the social, cultural, political, economic and, especially, religious context of the 1950s and 1960s favored the emergence of this charismatic leader and the formation of IPDA, which sought to consolidate in the Pentecostal area from Some identity marks proper to this church, its Internal Regulations, its World Headquarters, IPDA's option for the poorest, the restricted and selective use of the media, and the "War on Evil" worldview. These elements that constitute IPDA's identity are intended to contribute to the consolidation of David Miranda's charisma and strengthen the monopoly of its capital. From the death of the founder emerges the need to transmit the charism and a complex process of succession surrounded by tensions in regard to disputes over power / A Igreja Pentecostal “Deus é Amor”, fundada em 1962 por David Martins Miranda, se consolidou no campo pentecostal a partir do carisma de seu líder-fundador.

Takeda, Talita 09 December 2015 (has links)

No. of bitstreams: 1 Talita Takeda.pdf: 15769609 bytes, checksum: 4a83581af83b8737b1f6097dfe163114 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2015-12-09 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / The objective of this research is to investigate Brazilian contemporary opera production, through an analysis of the creative process of composer Ronaldo Miranda. The present dissertation dialogues with recent scholar and journalistic publication in Brazil and abroad, which seek to understand the pathways the genre opera has taken since the beginning of the 20th century. The first stage of this study lay on tracking the composing and rehearsing Miranda's opera O Menino e a Liberdade. Afterwards, process documents i.e. diverse materials used and obtained during the process were analyzed through the premiere of the work. This research intends to present a semiotics bias in studying the creative trajectory of an opera and how do artistic material metamorphose throughout the process. The question that moves this research is: which communication networks has Brazilian opera driven? The hypothesis is the indissociability of opera in analytical elements and the need of analyzing the work of composers such as Ronaldo Miranda and understanding opera as a sign system in process and not merely a product. For the analysis, we used the methodology of process criticism, that lies on the theoretical and critical review of production routes. The study was developed through the concept of creation as a network under construction grounded in Charles Sanders Peirce 's semiotics in dialogue with culture thinkers, as it is discussed by Cecilia Salles. The conclusions show new approaches for the genre opera and classical music under a semiotics bias, within a creation network context / O objetivo desta pesquisa é investigar a produção da ópera brasileira contemporânea, por meio de uma análise do processo de criação do compositor carioca Ronaldo Miranda.

The Evolution of Rings and Satellites

Aballain, Olivier 05 July 2002 (has links) (PDF)

Genesis of a Discourse: The Tempest and the Emergence of Postcoloniality

Pocock, Judith Anne 05 September 2012 (has links)
This dissertation contends that The Tempest by William Shakespeare plays a seminal role in the development of postcolonial literature and criticism because it was created in a moment when the colonial system that was now falling apart was just beginning to come into being. Creative writers and critics from the Third World, particularly Africa, the Caribbean, and Latin America, and the First found that the moment reflected in The Tempest had something very specific to say to a generation coming of age in the postcolonial world of the 1960s, 1970s, and early 1980s. I establish that a significant discourse that begins in the Nineteenth Century and intensifies in the Twentieth depends on The Tempest to explore the nature of colonialism and to develop an understanding of the postcolonial world. I then examine the role theories of adaptation play in understanding why The Tempest assumes such a crucial role and determine that the most useful model of adaptation resembles the method developed by biblical typologists which “sets two successive historical events [or periods] into a reciprocal relation of anticipation and fulfillment” (Brumm 27). I ague that postcolonial writers and critics found in The Tempest evidence of a history of colonial oppression and resistance often obscured by established historical narratives and a venue to explore their relationship to their past, present, and future. Because my argument rests on the contention that The Tempest was created in a world where colonialism was coming into being, I explore the historical context surrounding the moment of the play’s creation and determine, in spite of the contention of many historians and some literary critics to the contrary, the forces bringing colonialism into being were already at play and were having a profound effect. After briefly illustrating the historical roots of several popular themes in The Tempest that postcolonial writers have embraced, I turn to the work of writers and critics from the Third World and the First to show how The Tempest plays a significant role in postcolonial studies.

Ana Miranda has been a novelist since 1989 when her novel Boca do Inferno was published. The novel was considered by many critics as a biographical romance of a poet from Bahia called Gregório de Matos. This work awarded her prize Jabuti in 1990. She also won the Jabuti Award for her novel Dias e Dias in 2003 whose narrative reminds us of Brazilian Romanticism, having as a central character Antonio Gonçalves Dias. The novel A Última Quimera, Augusto dos Anjos and Olavo Bilac are characters who depict a setting in Rio de Janeiro that happens at the beginning of XX century – the national belle époque, making a contrast between the two movements Parnassianism and Symbolism in which appear the eschatological poetry of Augusto dos Anjos. In relation to this novel, Ana Miranda tries to put the poet from Paraíba besides Bilac, rewriting a very important page of our literary historiography. On the contrary the major academic works that form the most precious critical of the author is the Historiography literary and the foundation of the canon: I have believed that Ana Miranda, Augusto dos Anjos and Olavo Bilac’s voices are behind of an essay-romance. Thus, Ana Miranda subverts the official literary historiography, bringing the characters that belongs to the poets mentioned above in an allegorical way, rebuilding a setting in which there is an effective consolidation of the national literary canon. The relationship between the literature and the history has been developed attached by a plot composed by letters, poems and by some curiosities of Brazilian culture. This has just established a game between tradition and a severance related to the way a narrative is formed in which Augusto dos Anjos and Olavo Bilac show us some symmetry as important poets of Brazilian literature. / This work makes a comparative analysis of Desmundo novels (1996), by the Brazilian writer Ana Miranda and Finisterre (2005) by the Argentine writer, María Rosa Lojo. We propose to show how the selected novels have an affinity in the way of conceiving the reconstruction of the heroines, through of the traumatic historical episodes review of the Sixteenth and Nineteenth century, which allow to figures of the orphan and white slave woman an emblematic role in the ideal of building which in the future would be the modern Latin American nations. The questioning of the racial and cultural myths is done from the individual memories and shared with the collective imagination that present a unique version of the story, through of the woman's voice marginal eye. Furthermore, we intend to verify the tensions between the Other and the woman, in which we see reflected the relationships between the protagonists and the discourses that legitimize the authority of the dominant identities. In this sense, we can read important ideological discussions that cross the novels and confirm the nation deconstruction of the univocity of the founding discourses and the desire to re-foundation of its bases for reconciliation between pairs traditionally opposed. We take as theoretical basis the studies of Historiographical Metafiction by Linda Hutcheon (1991) and studies about Latin American's New Historical Novel (PERKOWSKA, 2008), among others, to assess the gender cultural aspects, the dialogue with literary and historiographical tradition, the ideological identifications and the fictional characters construction.

Porém, a rememoração possibilita a memória coletiva, enquanto a renembrança ocasiona a memória individual. / The concepts of rememory and renembrança are presented and defined in Toni Morrison‟s Beloved (1987) and Ana Miranda‟s Desmundo (1996), respectively, as mnemonic processes incorporated into the fictional space in order to revise official national historical perspectives. The American and the Brazilian novels were both based on facts that took place in crucial historical moments of the master narrative concerning the national formation of each country. Beloved revisits the crime committed by Margaret Garner, a fugitive slave, during the pre-Civil War years, when she killed her own daughter in an attempt to save her children from returning to slavery. Desmundo recollects the experiences of one of the Portuguese orphan girls sent to sixteenth-century colonial Brazil to serve as wives, by orders of the king and by the request of the priests who wanted to put an end to the sexual relations among Portuguese colonialists and natives. Rememory and Renembrança set the interrelations between memory, history and literature because they are the mnemonic processes engendered by the characters and, at the same time, they form the structure of the novels. Rememory is defined as the image that lasts (individually and in the world) when something no longer exists; renembrança originates from singular experiences and establishes relations with a fantasy world. The two processes share features related to the enigma of representation that recaptures past events, such as paradoxical constructions of absences and distances.
