Etude comparative de la notion de "l'homme parfait" chez Mowlânâ Djalâl-Od-Dîn Rûmî-é Balkhî et Alfred de Vigny / The comparative study between Mowlânâ Djalâl-Od-Dîn Rûmî-é Balkhî and Alfred de Vigny on the subject of "perfect man"Mahdavi Zadeh, Mojgan 30 March 2012 (has links)
Today the Universal literature has taken a particular place for itself, because this literature is on the cross point of "self" and "other", "implicit" and "explicit", "intimate" and "public". The comparative study between the foresights of Mowlânâ Djalâl-Od- Dîn Mohammad Rûmî-é BalkhÎ, the Iranian mystic poet of the 13th century, and, Alfred de Vigny, the romantic, stoic, and mystic poet of French 19th century, on the subject of "Perfect Man", in spite of the fact that the two men lived six centuries apart, one was in the East and the other one was in the West of the World, their religions were different, and that most likely Vigny had not read Mowlânâ's works, the two poets have almost similar opinions about the "Perfect Man". Normally, the comparative study is conducted to identify, directly or indirectly, the influence of a certain person or doctrine over another person or doctrine; but in this study, our readers or audience will see that the nature of purity, spiritual goodness, innocence, honesty, friendship, love, and sublime human characteristics are neither dependent of time and place, nor they depend on a specific ideology or a special culture, because they have all their roots in the intelligence, heart, and spirit of individuals and are part of Devine aspect of human being.

Previous issue date: 2008-12-05 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The point of departure for this study was the work Le Mirouer des Simples
Ames by Marguerite Porete, who belonged to a religious order in the region of
The Rhine and who, according to history, lived between the second half of the
XIII century and the beginning of the XIV century. It is a stimulating work which
makes an important contribution to philosophical, theological and literary
thinking. Our aim in this study was to explore the Christian mystic, which
reached its peak in the late Middle Ages, to deepen the perception of this
dynamic which is expressed as an experience of annihilation and to perceive
how it unfolds in the theology. The more specific objective was to go deeper
into the meaning of Marguerite Porete´s theological thinking, fundamentally
mystical, and her contribution to systematic theology today, which intends not
only to unite concepts and theological theory, but also to be a theology
attentive to historical experience, the objective site of God´s presence, but
which in spite of this, has confronted the risk of losing its contemplative
dimension, the subjective site of a mystic encounter with God, thus freely
transcending historical time and space. Our theological reading of Mirouer led
us to perceive that the great contribution from this work lies in the explicitness of
the relation between self-deprivation and liberty on the one hand and on the
other, the bold affirmation that God is Graciousness, a God of delicacy,
sweetness and goodness, in a world whose favored image of God is that of the
almighty Father, at one time director, protector and fount of authority, a God of
great majesty who remains in heaven and occasionally extends his hand across
the clouds. To the God who leads an army constituted of angels and saints
who exercise an intermediary function and manifest his protective and judging
omnipresence, Marguerite announces the Loin-près, He who from his absolute
transcendence, through graciousness, comes to us and transforms us for
Nossa leitura

This work is presented in three parts: a critical edition of the “Treatise on the Four Marriages” of Jeanne Chézard de Matel (Roanne 1596 – Paris 1670), a historical-Theological analysis of the treatise, and an exploration of the theological questions on the Incarnation raised in this treatise, giving rise to an incarnational spirituality. The edition of the text presents research on the life of the author (a mystic from the region of Lyon, foundress of the Order of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament), her milieu, her sources, her writings, and her theology, as well as research on the history of the treatise (the manuscript, date of composition, copyist, relationship with the “Treatise on the Three Marriages”, and the sources of its content). The second part analyzes the treatise according to two themes: the reading of Scripture and spiritual marriage. The analysis, keeping in mind the treatise’s historical context and sources, seeks to open a theological reflection on the issues raised in the treatise. The third part puts Jeanne Chézard de Matel in dialogue with contemporary theologians, taking as a common point the current reader’s experience. The study explores the relationship between time and eternity and between Creation, Incarnation and Salvation. The work culminates with the presentation of a spirituality of the Incarnation, understood as an eternal and salvific union of love which binds all humans together with each other and with God.

This research studies the components that favor the achievement of non-dual or silent knowledge. The first phase of the study is to establish the limits of silent knowledge. This will be possible thanks to Eugenio Trias' philosophy, specially his concept of "border condition" which develops the double possibility of human knowledge. In the second part of the paper, I study non-conceptual knowledge and how it functions in the statements of different artists and the operating way of this knowledge. In this research the relation between the subject and the object is constantly silent in the cognitive dynamic. Therefore, I explore how to foster the silence of the cognitive capacity and propose a hermeneutic approach to the masters of the mystic experience from the perspective of "detachment" from the cognitive capacities. ("des-sujeción" in Trias terminology).

Self-knowledge in the writings of Catherine of SienaFresen, Patricia Anne 11 1900 (has links)
This thesis is a study of self-knowledge in the writings of Catherine of Siena. The
introductory chapter clarifies the kind of self-knowledge she is describing, viz.
metaphysical self-knowledge which, in the case of mystics such as Catherine,
blossoms into mystical self-knowledge. Catherine is then situated within the framework
of her own era. A survey of catherinian literature follows. Since her major symbol for
self-knowledge is the cell, the concept of the cell in the Church tradition of the West,
and its influence on Catherine, is explored.
The major aspect of the enquiry is the tracing of the chronological unfolding of
Catherine's doctrine of self-knowledge, working with the texts themselves. This is done
under the headings of her three main symbols for self-knowledge, la eel/a (the cell), la
casa (the house) and la citta dell'anima (the city of the soul). Each of these sections is
concluded with an interpretation of the significance of the unfolding of that symbol
within Catherine's thought and the chapter itself is rounded off by an interpretation of
the three symbols for self-knowledge in their integration and interconnectedness.
Catherine communicates her experience of mystical self-knowledge by means of a
complex system of images and symbols, all of which fit together to form a whole. This
warrants an investigation into the role of the imagination, imagery and symbol in
mysticism, and explores Catherine's use of imagery and symbol.
The study shows Catherine's own gradual integration of mystical experience and
ministry as it takes place within her experience and in the development of her thought.
What we are able to see, by studying the texts, is the formation and strengthening of
the underlying unity in Catherine between the inner movement of mystical love and
outgoing concern for others which is redemptive love. These two are really one. / Christian, Spirituality, Church History and Missiology / D. Th. (Religious Studies)

"Lopota k životu posmrtnému" William Blake prorokem v moderním světě? / "A Drudgery Towards the Other Life" William Blake - a Prophet In Modern World?KOPEČNÁ, Zuzana January 2011 (has links)
The thesis deals with life and particularly works of William Blake, one of the most prominent representatives of English poetry and art. His work stems from his dissatisfaction and resistance to religious and secular doctrines. He is known as an original poet, an engraver and a painter, a graphic artist and an illustrator, as well as a mystic and a visionary. In the midst of the birth of the modern world, during the War of Independence, the French Revolution and the Industrial Revolution, he considered his talent for design and his predispositions of the Old Testament prophets a direct inspiration for him and his prophetic mission. He identified with all types of oppression and enslavement of humanity and tried to gibbet them in his works. He mainly criticised repressed sexuality, which according to him leads to wars, industrialism and perverted science. The apocalyptic character of many of his works is closely related to the time in which he lived and worked. These are mainly so-called prophetic books, which he also printed, and in which he used synthesis of artistic means. Most of his life he spent in poverty and solitude, misunderstood and despised. This reassured him of his real prophetic destiny. Blake?s work became an inspiration for following generations of artists; but only the 20th century fully discovered him and understood the importance of his prophetic vision. Blake sees a redemptive power of the real art, which helps cleanse people?s inner eyes, and gives them the opportunity to be freed from enslaving forces.

The black church and Prince Hall Freemasonry both played important roles in the black experience in America. Freemasonry and the black church; one secular, the other spiritual, played equally important, interrelated roles in the way the black community addressed social, political, and economic problems in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
