Problémy implementace integrační politiky ve vztahu k migrantům prostřednictvím nestátních neziskových organizací na území hlavního města Prahy / Implementation problems of migrant integration policy trough non-governmental non-profit organizations on the territory of PragueLazutkin, Jevgenij January 2018 (has links)
This work discusses the role of non-government non-profit organisations in implementation of the integration policy in relation to migrants within the territory of the Capital City of Prague. The integration policy means both the integration policy of the Czech Republic and also the actual integration policy of the Capital City of Prague expressed in the Prague integration concept. The purpose of this work is to find out what role non-government non-profit organisations play during the process of implementation of this policy, their standing among other parties involved in the integration policy, and it also primarily focuses on the phenomenon of the implementation deficit arising during implementation of policies. The theoretical section describes Czech migration and integration policies, the Prague integration policy and the theoretical starting points on which this work is based. The work is based on data acquired directly from interviews with selected representatives of non-profit organisations and also on secondary sources about formation and realisation of integration policies. The work is created in the form of a case study and initially investigates which suitable model can be used to describe the process of implementation of integration policies by means of non-government non-profit...

Spolupráce aktérů v oblasti mimoškolního vzdělávání rozvíjející aspirace žáků z lokalit ohrožených sociálním vyloučením / The cooperation of the actors in field of non-institutional education which develops aspirations of pupils from localities threatened by social exclusionKalný, Bernard January 2012 (has links)
Children growing up in the environment of social exclusion acquire values and habits which weaken and aggravate their integration into the school environment. The lack of success of such children at school is followed by limited educational and professional aspirations which reduce possibilities of their social integration. The governmental conception of social integration and involved experts consider the area of education crucial for prevention of social exclusion transfer from generation to generation. The actors involved in the process of education of socially excluded children are NGOs which provide social services supporting and strengthening educational and professional aspirations. The thesis focuses on the influence of schools on educational - professional aspirations of socially excluded children. The coordination of activities and cooperation of one particular NGO, schools and local authorities in the area of education and their involvement in strengthening of educational - professional aspirations are analysed on the case of regional capital - the City of Pilsen. Based on the analyses of research results, the thesis also proposes a system of coordination of activities between schools and NGOs in the area of education of socially excluded children. Keywords: educational - professional...

Občanská angažovanost očima členů mládežnických organizací politických stran / Civic engagement through the eyes of members of political parties youth wingsVachule, Filip January 2015 (has links)
The theme of my thesis is "Civic engagement though the eyes of political parties youth wings." I chose three specific associations, which cover the classical political spectrum. The goal of the thesis is to discover what kind of relationship these young people have to civic engagement. Civic engagement is represented by the new type of engaged NGOs. I also wanted to know what was their motivation to join the youth wing and if their opinions about civic engagement corespond with the Party point of view. In the theoretical part I introduce concepts of political participation and civic engagemant connected with the third sector and political parties. In the empirical part is presented the analysis with the findings. I used qualitative research strategy and data were obtained mostly trom interviews. In the end the findings are summarized and connscted with the theoretical framework.

Empowerment on Western Terms? : A critical exploration of Nepalese women’s rights NGOs’ relations with international donorsSteele, Annika January 2023 (has links)
In the last two decades, there has been a significant rise in women’s rights Non-Govermental Organizations (NGOs) in Nepal, working on issues ranging from economic and political empowerment to violence against women and discrimination. Most of these local NGOs rely on international funding to pursue their advocacy and project work. This brings up questions of power imbalance regarding decision-making and agenda setting in their relations with donor International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) as the latter wield substantial financial control. Academic and practice-based research on power dynamics between donor INGOs in the Global North and recipient NGOs in the Global South has mainly focused on the benefits of NGO involvement in the development sector. Drawing on postcolonial, transnational feminist theories, this study uses a critical perspective to identify and explore possible power imbalances and explores the following key issues: Funding sustainability, accountability, collaboration, and cooperation between local and international women’s rights NGOs, and finally, local ownership. The inquiry builds upon empirical data from in-dept interviews with local and international women’s rights NGOs working in Kathmandu and the limited available secondarysources on the situation in Nepal. The findings point to clear power asymmetries, with local NGOs having to conform to Western standards in project design, implementation, reporting and monitoring, leaving limited space for flexibility or considering the situation on the ground. Nonetheless, this study also concludes that NGOs are not under the complete influence of their international donors, as suggested by some literature, but rather use the available space to maneuver and push their cause. Finally, based on the insights of this research and considering new initiatives that attempt to transcend the current donor-recipient power dynamics, this study identifies a handful of potential principles to guide more equitable relations between women’s rights NGOs and donors.

The Rise of Global Health: Consensus, Expansion and SpecializationLeon, Joshua K. January 2010 (has links)
This dissertation examines the rise of global health assistance among states, multilateral institutions and NGOs. Resources devoted to global public health expanded rapidly in the 1990s and 2000s, outpacing other areas of development. New agencies have emerged to address public health issues, and existing organizations such as the UNDP, World Bank and EU have expanded their global health operations. Critics fear that the global health regime will become inefficient as it grows, duplicating tasks and skewing resources. The regime complex literature predicts similar suboptimal outcomes. These fears are overblown. While certain inefficiencies are likely as any regime expands, data shows that the allocation of resources generally reflects global health needs. Increased competition, thought to lessen efficiency, has actually pressured multilateral actors to specialize. Specialization offsets the problem of overlapping tasks. The modern global health regime is characterized by increased size, competition, specialization, and a prevailing consensus that emphasizes health as a central component of international development. This consensus holds that societal health prefigures economic growth. The international community, moreover, should cost effectively use increased aid to address the worst disease burdens in the poorest countries. In the cases of states, domestic interests play a role in shaping specialization patterns. Pressure from increased international competition has pressed multilateral institutions to reform and adapt to changing conditions in order to remain relevant in a denser global environment. The diverse cases explored in this dissertation (US, Japan, Sweden, Canada, World Bank, WHO, UNDP and EU) show high degrees of specialization and a surprisingly similar adherence to the consensus. / Political Science

To Engage a Community : A qualitative case study of the participatory communication processes in the Pikin to Pikin Tok ProjectBruno, Tyra, Rimdahl, Ava January 2024 (has links)
The case study “To Engage a Community” examines the Pikin to Pikin Tok radio project in Sierra Leone, a project designed by Child to Child and the Pikin-to-Pikin-Movement to address child rights issues during and after the Ebola crisis. The study focuses on the projects’ use of participatory communication strategies to engage communities in the Kailahun district. The primary objective of the study is to offer valuable insights to the field of communication for development by analysing the project's design. Through a qualitative approach that involved thematic analysis of project documents and interviews with project staff, the research sought to gain a deeper understanding of the community participation in the project. A key finding highlighted in the study is the pivotal role of the community in the design and implementation of the radio program, underscoring the significance of tailoring initiatives to be child-friendly, and adapted to culture and context. The study emphasises the importance of genuine community engagement throughout the project, emphasising the need for sustained involvement and ownership beyond consultation. By shedding light on the successes and challenges encountered in the Pikin to Pikin Tok project, the research aims to offer valuable lessons that can inform future social change initiatives and contribute to the communication for development field.
