Flores Cienfuegos, Gerardo January 2010 (has links)

Lachance-Provençal, François January 2008 (has links) (PDF)
______________________________________________________________________________ MOTS-CLÉS DE L’AUTEUR : Shiraga, Gutai, Bouddhisme, Nietzsche, Ivresse, Mishima.

An investigation of the parallels between Sartre's bad faith and Nietzsche's slave morality.

Speirs, James. January 2011 (has links)
The following dissertation examines Sartre’s notion of bad faith before identifying parallels found in Nietzsche’s Genealogy of Morals. Bad faith is often construed as lying to oneself; however, this entails an individual being both the deceiver and deceived which presents a number of paradoxes. By reconceptualising bad faith as self-deception rather than lying to oneself these paradoxes are avoided. Nietzsche’s Genealogy examines the development of modern morality and explains its genesis through identifying a specific psychological tendency, namely, ressentiment. Ressentiment is central to the Genealogy as it results in the idealisation of asceticism and the development of the bad conscience into guilt. These are core elements of what Nietzsche terms slave morality. By exposing ressentiment as a manifestation of bad faith this dissertation highlights the self-deception lying at the foundation of slave morality. Nietzsche believes that it is slave morality which predominantly constitutes modern morality, and manifestations of bad faith in Nietzsche’s account of modern morality therefore give credence to Nietzsche’s call to revalue our values. / Thesis (M.A.)-University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, 2011.

A dynamics theory of justice : Nietzsche, Holmes, and self-organizing criticality

Braithwaite, Murray James 05 1900 (has links)
Problem: Although Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. transformed American jurisprudence into critical self-awareness, there is no consensus on the nature of his legal theory. Holmes imperfectly represents each of several incompatible approaches. Commentators presume Holmes lacked any original or coherent theory of justice. Friedrich Nietzsche is likewise presumed a critical philosopher without a coherent theory of justice. Nietzsche wrote esoterically, but there is no consensus on the content of his esoteric agenda. Nietzsche's attitudes toward women appear misogynistic, but his philosophy paradoxically appeals to many feminists. Method: By re-conceptualizing Holmes and Nietzsche in terms of the principles of self-organized criticality, their understandings of causation and developmental dynamics become coherent. This thesis re-conceptualizes common-law legal reasoning as exploiting principles of self-organized criticality to build knowledge inductively. This reveals that Holmes and Nietzsche's genealogical critique of idealism rests on the computational implausibility of assuming there always exist microlevel rules to achieve desired macro-level goals. The legal-reasoning model shows that justice entails an inexhaustible open-system dynamic of applying limited resources to accommodate better an ever-broadening matrix of conflicting values. Nietzsche assesses psychological and social conditions that foster this collective creativity and decadent conditions that inhibit the growth of justice. Nietzsche identifies problems specific to institutions that require special safeguards that he esoterically conceals. Using Nietzsche's exoteric accounts of psychology and rhetoric based on principles of self-organized criticality, Nietzsche's esoteric techniques can be inferred, including his syncretism of pagan myths, which reveals his esoteric content. Conclusion: Holmes and Nietzsche applied a coherent theory of justice based on principles of causation and dynamics not widely accepted until the late twentieth century but having roots in ancient myths and isolated prior thinkers. Nietzsche defines justice as pursuing robust community growth without sacrificing the future for the present. Both Holmes and Nietzsche accord pursuit of justice with the good life whereby individuals promote their own development for greater sacrifice for the community. Nietzsche's esoteric solution to his problem of institutions was matriarchy. Nietzsche's matriarchy follows from his identification of the root of the institutional problem as male windfall opportunism, an evolved unconscious male tendency resulting from uncertainty over genetic parentage.

Friedrich Nietzsche's influence on Elizabeth Smart's By Grand Central Station I sat down and wept

Pike, Gregory Maxwell. January 2000 (has links)
This study argues for the influence of Friedrich Nietzsche's philosophy on Elizabeth Smart's novel, By Grand Central Station I Sat Down and Wept. Following Goran Hermeren's guidelines for an influence argument, I argue the case for Smart's contact with Nietzsche's work, similarities between his work and Smart's novel, and the effect of his work on Smart's novel. Nietzsche's conception of tragedy applies to and describes the novel surprisingly well, explaining certain similarities between the authors' works while identifying another of the text's many genres. The argument is largely based on circumstantial evidence, but its cumulative force is highly suggestive of a hitherto unrecognized philosophical complexity in Smart's novel.

ABSTRACT This research work is part of the Post-Graduate Education (PPGE), Faculty of Education, Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), the thematic line Education, Body Culture and Leisure. Our research is a study of the pedagogical thought of German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche that analyzes the rapprochement between education and body in his philosophy in the development of an education setting himself. This thesis is divided into two parts. In the first one, we present and discuss the critical launched by Nietzsche in the writings Schopenhauer as Educator, conferences on educational institutions and The Birth of Tragedy which refers to the conception of education and culture taught in educational institutions of Germany of the nineteenth century. Thus the exemplary of the Greeks for Nietzsche, comes not only as an esthetic model, but in their way of living against the suffering and pains that didn’t make them pessimistic. In the second part, we aim paths in which Nietzsche exceeds the initial criticism, from his works The Dawn, Gay Science, On the Genealogy Morality and Thus Spoke Zarathustra proposing the statement of existence, the criticism to the notion of knowledge and moral values. We search for an education of experimentation as a justification to the emergence of new forms of understanding culture and establishments of new conceptual beacons, what will be responsible for the creation of a new image of man, knowledge and formative process. In this sense, Nietzsche strives to rehabilitate the body as an experimentation field and critical values and interpretation that prevail as truths. At the end we discuss the design of Nietzsche’s education characterized as unique and individual way, a project that takes place by the cultivation of the self, the way of the creator of values that from the body as a guide, elaborates its uniqueness in an affirmative way

Henríquez Paredes, Juan Carlos January 2007 (has links)

For in such a way, the study was divided in two chapters: Biography and correspondences - a life in the transit of the method and Infancy and politics – the method in Infancy in Berlin for 1900 return. In the first chapter the reader offers itself to it more discussable aspects so that if he can reach, in the last chapter a detailed dialogue with the fundamental workmanship - Infancy in Berlin for 1900 return – here worked. The reconstitution of the method that Benjamin thinks to the philosophy is reconstituted through a cumulative work, that is, to each item of the work we bring new elements that until then they had not been developed, thus looking for, to offer an organization that it goes and it comes back to the points to each moment, but makes to gain body to the question proposal. Therefore, one worked in the first chapter with prompt elements of the life of Benjamin, relating to the conception of method, the two inheritances that had influenced the thinker - Judaism and historical materialism and the reconstitution of the theory of the knowledge in Benjamin, detailing its dialogue with Descartes. No longer according to chapter, the method is retaken from the infancy idea that the thinker offers in five assays written between 1924 the 1928. These assays had directly reverberated in the understanding of a conceived method as shunting line, having the participation key of the concept of repetition in Freud and Nietzsche and the practical unfolding of the accomplishment of the workmanship studies. It is in this chain of parts that the classic story the wild Swans gains body and starts to produce a peculiar direction in this work: the fusing this story will represent the metaphoric materialization of Benjamin from the Eliza personage.
