A Case study on employee behavior intention of knowledge sharing and Its Antecedents in Taipei City Government

Chiu, Chih-Ming Unknown Date (has links)
Knowledge sharing is a critical step for successful knowledge management. However, sharing knowledge not only requires time and effort but also reduces value or power in the public organization. Therefore, individual’s knowledge does not transform easily into organizational knowledge. The purpose of this study is to develop an understanding of the factors affecting the individual’s knowledge sharing behavior in the governmental context. The research model includes various constructs based on social exchange theory, social capital theory , and the theory of planned behavior .Hence, this research developed an integrated theoretical model and unveiled three sets of critical factors: psychological(extrinsic rewards, reciprocal relationships, enjoyment in helping others), organizational (identification ,trust , pro-sharing norm)and technological(information technology usage) that are believed to affect the knowledge sharing behaviors. Data collected from 524 employees in Taipei City Government were conducted to test the research model using the structural equation modeling (SEM) approach. / The results of the study provide empirical support for the overall structure theorized in the research model. Knowledge sharing behavior was predicted by the employees’ intention towards knowledge sharing and perceived behavioral control. Knowledge sharing intention in turn was predicted by employees’ attitude towards knowledge sharing, subjective norm and perceived behavioral control. The employees perceptions of reciprocal relationships, enjoyment in helping others and identification were positively associated with favorable attitude towards knowledge sharing. The perceptions of extrinsic rewards exerted a negative effect on the attitude. Organizational trust and pro-sharing norm positively influenced employees’ subjective norm. Additionally, information technology usage was positively associated with high levels of perceived behavioral control towards knowledge sharing. / Based on the findings, the study indicates that an increased effort to encourage employees to participate knowledge sharing activities is associated with a positive social interaction culture. Specifically, reinforcing individual’s intrinsic motivation and creating an organizational context characterized by trust, identification and pro-sharing norm are likely to encourage both management and employees to socialize and interact frequently with each other by means of driving knowledge sharing intention. Finally, the study has implications for public manager and policy maker to formulate policies and appropriately to ensure the effective creation of a knowledge sharing culture.

Structural and electronic properties of metal oxides

Regoutz, Anna January 2014 (has links)
Metal oxides are of immense technological importance. Their wide variety of structural and electronic characteristics leads to a flexibility unrivalled by other groups of materials. However, there is still much debate about the fundamental properties of some of the most widely used oxides, including TiO2 and In2O3. This work presents high quality, in-depth characterisation of these two oxides in pure and doped form, including soft and hard X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. Bulk samples as well as thin film samples were prepared analysed. For the preparation of thin films a high quality sol-gel dip-coating method was developed, which resulted in epitaxial films. In more detail the organisation of the thesis is as follows: Chapter 1 provides an introduction to key ideas related to metal oxides and presents the metal oxides investigated in this thesis, In2O3, Ga2O3, Tl2O3, TiO2, and SnO2. Chapter 2 presents background information and Chapter 3 gives the practical details of the experimental techniques employed. Chapters 4 presents reciprocal space maps of MBE-grown In2O3 thin films and nanorods on YSZ substrates. Chapters 5 and 6 investigate the doping of In2O3 bulk samples with gallium and thallium and introduce a range of solid state characterisation techniques. Chapter 7 describes the development of a dip-coating sol-gel method for the growth of thin films of TiO2 and shows 3D reciprocal space maps of the resulting films. Chapter 8 concerns hard x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy of undoped and Sn-doped TiO2. Chapter 9 interconnects previous chapters by presenting 2D reciprocal space maps of nano structured epitaxial samples of In2O3 grown by the newly developed sol-gel based method. Chapter 10 concludes this thesis with a summary of the results.

Faisabilité d'un isolateur optique intégré sur verre / Feasibility of an integrated optical isolator on glass

Amata, Hadi 01 October 2012 (has links)
Currently, these components are commercially available but only in bulk form, due to the difficulties to embed magneto-optical materials with integrated classical technologies. To overcome this problem, our group has developed a new approach based on composite magneto-optical matrix that is fully compatible with ion-exchanged glass waveguide technology. This material is developed by organic inorganic sol-gel process and doped by magnetic nanoparticles (CoFe2O4). Such a magneto-optical composite matrix has shown promising potentialities illustrated by a specific Faraday rotation of 420°/cm (@1550nm). Using dip-coating technique, a composite layer was coated on a glass substrate containing straight channel waveguide made by a silver/sodium ion exchange. The extremities of the guides were previously buried using selective buried method in order to facilitate coupling-decoupling of light in hybrid structure. Last, a soft annealing (<100°C) and UV treatment, both compatible with the ion-exchanged process, have been implemented to finalize the magneto-optical film. Optical characterization demonstrated a good distribution of light between the magneto-optical thin film and the ion-exchanged waveguide (good lateral confinement). Furthermore TE to TM mode conversion has been observed when a longitudinal magnetic field is applied to the device. The amount of this conversion is in good agreement with the distribution of light between the layer and the guide obtained by numerical calculations, and the modal birefringence of the structure. So, the aim of my thesis is achieved and the results demonstrate the feasibility of TE to TM mode converter fully compatible with glass integrated optics

Essai sur les fonctions du juge administratif face aux principes civils du contrat de transaction / Test the functions of the administrative judge and the principles of civil Settlement Agreement

Niel, Paul 16 January 2014 (has links)
Participant of a mixed nature, by its contractual source, legal in its object, the transaction and allows the parties to end a dispute arising or prevent future litigation. It has a remarkable usefulness for administrative matters. The transaction, civil law concept borrowed by the administrative judge, gave rise to various interpretations praetorian. The law is not static, the administrative judge, under cover of a personal philosophy, worked to preserve its interests gradually detaching civilians principles of contract transaction. The term "administrative transaction" refers to the fact that the transaction is entered into by or on behalf of a public entity. This can however be a private contract or an administrative contract. Admittedly, the term "administration" can be interpreted broadly and narrowly. Litigation of the transaction is booming. Has long been public law borrows the civil rules of contract transaction subject to different legal regimes. Serious difficulties remain. Also, it was necessary to demonstrate why and how the administrative judge undertook a clarification of the law of the transaction in administrative matters. The study was an opportunity to distinguish the function of adaptation and systematization of administrative courts, where this differentiation was rarely considered.

"O avunculado na Antropologia Evolutiva: uma abordagem intercultural" / "The avunculate in the evolutionary anthropology: a cross cultural survey"

Maia, Antonio Carlos do Amaral 28 February 2007 (has links)
The present work proposes to account for cultural variability in connection to human family organization, through Darwin’s theories of natural selection and sexual selection. It is also founded on evidence based on the comparison of ethnographic data of diverse human societies. It intends to demonstrate that there is a significant alteration in the behavior of family members when the rules of inheritance of wealth change. These alterations are triggered because the rules of inheritance dictate the MPI – Male Parental Investment – sometimes in the nephew and sometimes in the son. The hypothesis is that this variation in MPI (male investment in either the nephew or the son) modifies family relations in matrilineal and patrilineal organizations in a predictable manner. The role played by MPI in determining family tensions will be shown by applying cross cultural analysis to the data obtained from HRAF (Human Relations Area Files), using PSF (Probability Sample Files). The results of the present work show that societies in which the uncle’s relation with his nephew is affectionate, the husband beats the wife; on the other hand, when the father’s relation with his son is indulgent and friendly, brother and sister avoid each other. This variability of behavior can be coherently explained by sociobiological theory. Cultural wealth: the innumerable customs, the traditions, the taboos, the manifest and hidden norms, the apparatus of coercion, the rules of inheritance, marriage, dowry, bride price, the division of labor, in short, all the rules observed in all human groups can be explained in the light of the following theories: a) ‘kinship selection’ (Hamilton, 1963); b) ‘reciprocal altruism’ (Trivers, 1971; Axelrod, 1981); c) ‘parental investment and sexual selection’ (Trivers, 1972); and d) ‘parentoffspring conflict’ (Trivers, 1974).

Aplicação de abordagens de controle motor na análise temporal e de desempenho em arqueiros de elite / Motor control approaches in temporal and performance factors on elite archers

Reiser, Fernando Carvalheiro 11 March 2019 (has links)
As técnicas apresentadas no presente estudo revelaram parâmetros em comum associados com as sequências temporais de disparo de flechas e com os escores obtidos por arqueiros de elite, isto corrobora com a complexidade da análise do desempenho em atletas de alto rendimento, contudo também colocam a disposição técnicas que ajudam na filtragem e verificação desses parâmetros outrora divergentes / Archery is an Olympic sport in which the athletes exhibit several muscular coordination patterns in the arrow shooting, mainly in the clicker falls tempo, making difficult the interpretation of the coordination of archers in what concerns to their score. Thus, some techniques, such as Vector Coding and co-activation/reciprocal inhibition, from Motor Control approaches, can help us to discover what common patterns these archers use when firing and their relation to their obtained performance during the sequential firing of arrows. Aim: evaluate the muscular coordination used by archers of the Brazilian team during an Olympic qualifying simulation, using the electromyographic technique. Eleven archers of the Brazilian team participated; age: 25.2 ± 4.9 years, height: 1.72 ± 0.12m, weight: 68.6 ± 11.8 kg, FITA score: 1258 ± 43 points, Qualification: 632 ± 20 points, Mean arrow: 8.7 ± 0.3 points. The EMG analysis was divided in 0.5s before and 0.15s after the release of the clicker. The RMS value of this twelve-muscle signal was used: drawning arm (dominant side) - FDS (Flexor Digitorum Superficilis); ED (Extensor Digitorum); BB (Biceps Brachii); TBL (Triceps Brachii - Long Head); LD (Latissimus Dorsi) PMC (Pectoralis Major Clavicular Head); UT (Upper Trapezius); ASD (Anterior Serratus); RA (Rectus Abdominis) and LM (Lumbar Multifidus). Non-dominant side (nD) DPnD (Posterior deltoid) and ASnD (Anterior Serratus non-dominant side); pairs created (Agonist-Antagonist: FDS-ED, BBL-TBL, LD-PMC, UT-ASD, RA-LM; Distal-Proximal: FDS-BBL, FDS-TBL, ED-BBL, ED-TBL and the pairs glenohumeral-scapular: PMC-SAD, GD-TS, SAD-SAnD, SAnD-DPnD, GD-DPnD) for analysis of co-activation/reciprocal inhibition and Vector Coding. Results; eight pairs (FDS-ED, BB-TBL, UT-ASD, FDS-BB, FDS-TBL, ED-TBL, ASD-ASnD, ASnD-DPnD) coactivated differently in blocks transition (p<0.05); and 12 (FDS-ED, BB-TBL, LD-PMC, UT-ASD, FDS-BB, FDS-TBL, ED-BB, ED-TBL, PMC-ASD, ASD-ASnD, ASnD-DPnD, LD-DPnD) co-activated differently in the score comparison (p<0.05). Also, the archers displayed different strategies of reciprocal inhibition in the blocks transition (FDS-ED, BB-TBL, UT-ASD, FDS-BB, FDS-TBL, ED-BBL, ED-TBL, ASD-ASnD; ASnD-DPnD) (p<0.05); one (UT-ASD) in the arrow analysis (p<0.05); and nine (FDS-ED, BB-TBL, FDS-BBL, FDS-TBL, ED-BBL, ED-TBL, ASD-ASnD, ASnD-DPnD, LD-DPnD) in the score analysis. Nine Vector Coding pairs (FDS-BB, FDS-TBL, ED-BB, ED-TBL, PMC-ASD, ASD-ASnD, ASnD- DPnD) changed the coordination phase mode in postural adjustments transition, while 11 pairs (FDS-ED; BB-TBL; LD-PMC; UT-ASD; FDS-BB; FDS-TBL; ED-BB; ED-TBL, PMC-ASD, ASD-ASnD, ASnD-DPnD) showed such changes in score analysis. The techniques presented in the present study revealed common parameters associated with temporal shoot-out and scores obtained by elite archers, dispite the complexity of performance analysis in high-performance athletes

To achieve these aims, therefore, this study solved the following research problems: in first place, confirmation of the partial unconstitutionality of the National Tax Code in relation to the Constitution of 1946 and its non reception by the current Federal Constitution (1988); construction of the normative matrix rule of the studied tax, since the constitutional level, passing throw the complementary legal settlement, until the local legislation, study that resulted in a doctrinal refinement of the analyzed institute, specially, on its material, personal e quantitative criterions; and, in second place, implications of the Mutual Tax Immunity on the definition of the taxpayer subject, considering the impossibility of transferring the payment responsibility to a non-taxable person, such as the occupant of the public property covered by a concession contract. Furthermore, this research analyzed the Mutual Tax Immunity under the Article 150, VI, ???a???, of the Federal Constitution, in order to identify if it grants a absolute status of protection against the taxation, or if it can be relaxed in cases where the Public Person explore remunerate economic activities. These subjects are under judgment by the Brazilian Supreme Court in the Leading Case number 473 of the general repercussion. Finally, from the theory of the fundamental rights of Robert Alexy, pondering and weighing were developed in order to solve the conflict between the involved constitutional principles: the Free Competition as a key element of an open market economy; and the Mutual Tax Immunity as a guarantor of the Federation Principle. Engineering Multicomponent Nanostructures for MOSFET, Photonic Detector and Hybrid Solar Cell Applications

Jamshidi Zavaraki, Asghar January 2015 (has links)
Silicon technologyhas been seekingfor a monolithic solution for a chip where data processing and data communication is performed in the CMOS part and the photonic component, respectively. Traditionally, silicon has been widely considered for electronic applications but not for photonic applications due to its indirect bandgap nature. However, band structure engineering and manipulation through alloying Si with Ge and Sn has opened new possibilities. Theoretical calculations show that it is possible to achieve direct transitions from Ge ifit is alloyed with Sn. Therefore, a GeSn system is a choice to get a direct bandgap. Extending to ternary GeSnSi and quaternary GeSnSiCstructures grown on Si wafers not only makes the bandgap engineering possible but also allowsgrowing lattice matched systems with different strain and bandgaps located in the infrared region. Different heterostructures can be designed and fabricated for detecting lightas photonic sensing oremitting the light as lasers. Alloying not only makes engineering possible but it also induces strain which plays an important role for electronic applications. Theoretical and experimental works show that tensile strain could increase the mobility, which is promising for electronic devices where high mobility channels for high performance MOSFETs is needed to speed up the switching rate. On the other hand, high n-doping in tensile strains in p-i-n structures makesΓ band transitions most probable which is promising for detection and emission of the light. As another benefit of tensile strain, the direct bandgap part shrinks faster than the indirect one if the strain amount is increased. To get both electronic and photonic applications of GeSn-based structures, two heterostructures (Ge/GeSn(Si)/GeSi/Ge/Si and Ge/GeSn/Si systems), including relaxed and compressive strained layers used to produce tensile strained layers, were designed in this thesis. The low temperature growth is of key importance in this work because the synthesis of GeSn-based hetrostructures on Si wafers requires low thermal conditions due tothe large lattice mismatch which makes them metastable. RPCVD was used to synthesize theseheterostructures because not only it offers a low temperature growth but also because it is compatible with CMOS technology. For utilization of these structures in devices, n-type and p-type doping of relaxed and compressive strained layers were developed. HRRLMs, HRTEM, RBS, SIMS, and FPP techniques were employed to evaluatestrain, quality, Sn content and composition profile of the heterostructures. The application of GeSn-based heterostructures is not restricted to electronics and photonics. Another application investigated in this work is photovoltaics. In competition with Si-based solar cells, which have, or areexpected to have, high stability and efficiency, thirdgeneration solar cells offer the use of low cost materials and production and can therefore be an alternative for future light energy conversion technology. Particularly, quantum dot sensitized solar cells are associated with favorable properties such as high extrinsic coefficients, size dependent bandgaps and multiple exciton generation and with a theoretical efficiencyof 44%. In this work, two categories of QDs, Cd-free and Cd-based QDs were employed as sensitizers in quantum dot sensitized solar cells (QDSSCs). Cd-based QDs have attracted large interest due to high quantum yield, however, toxicityremains still totheir disadvantage. Mn doping as a bandgap engineering tool for Cd-based type IIZnSe/CdS QDs wasemployed to boostthe solar cell efficiency. Theoretical and experimental investigations show that compared to single coreQDSSCs,typeII core-shells offer higher electron-hole separation due to efficient band alignment where the photogenerated electrons and holes are located in the conduction band of the shell and valence band of the core, respectively. This electron-hole separation suppresses recombination and by carefully designing the band alignment in the deviceit can increase the electron injection and consequently the power conversion efficiency of the device. Considering eco-friendly and commercialization aspects, three different “green” colloidal nanostructures having special band alignments, which are compatible for sensitized solar cells, were designed and fabricated by the hot injection method. Cu2GeS3-InP QDs not only can harvest light energy up to the infraredregion but can also be usedastypeII QDs. ZnS-coating was employed as a strategy to passivate the surface of InP QDs from interaction with air and electrolyte. In addition, ZnS-coating and hybrid passivation was applied for CuInS2QDs to eliminate surface traps. / <p>QC 20151125</p>

Asymptotic limits of negative group delay phenomenon in linear causal media

Kandic, Miodrag 07 October 2011 (has links)
Abnormal electromagnetic wave propagation characterized by negative group velocity and consequently negative group delay (NGD) has been observed in certain materials as well as in artificially built structures. Within finite frequency intervals where an NGD phenomenon is observed, higher frequency components of the applied waveform are propagated with phase advancement, not delay, relative to the lower frequency components. These media have found use in many applications that require positive delay compensation and an engineered phase characteristic, such as eliminating phase variation with frequency in phase shifters, beam-squint minimization in phased array antenna systems, size reduction of feed-forward amplifiers and others. The three principal questions this thesis addresses are: can a generic formulation for artificial NGD structures based on electric circuit resonators be developed; is it possible to derive a quantitative functional relationship (asymptotic limit) between the maximum achievable NGD and the identified trade-off quantity (out-of-band gain); and, can a microwave circuit exhibiting a fully loss-compensated NGD propagation in both directions be designed and implemented? A generic frequency-domain formulation of artificial NGD structures based on electric circuit resonators is developed and characterized by three parameters, namely center frequency, bandwidth and the out-of-band gain. The developed formulation is validated through several topologies reported in the literature. The trade-off relationship between the achievable NGD on one hand, and the out-of-band gain on the other, is identified. The out-of-band gain is shown to be proportional to transient amplitudes when waveforms with defined “turn on/off” times are propagated through an NGD medium. An asymptotic limit for achievable NGD as a function of the out-of-band gain is derived for multi-stage resonator-based NGD circuits as well as for an optimally engineered linear causal NGD medium. Passive NGD media exhibit loss which can be compensated for via active elements. However, active elements are unilateral in nature and therefore do not allow propagation in both directions. A bilateral gain-compensated circuit is designed and implemented, which overcomes this problem by employing a dual-amplifier configuration while preserving the overall circuit stability.
