Denna uppsats berör den populära podcasten Serial och den kritik som har riktats mot serien av flertalet journalister både i Sverige och utomlands. Uppsatsen ställer sig frågan vad det är med Serials berättargrepp som har utlöst denna upprördhet inom delar av journalistkåren, bland annat gällande reportern Sarah Koenigs framträdande roll i serien, och undersöker hur serien förhåller sig till den traditionella nyhetsjournalistikens grundprinciper. Uppsatsen drar även paralleller till den litterära journalistiken eftersom delar av kritiken mot Serial påminner om den kritik som riktades mot genren då den slog igenom på 60-talet. Studien av Serial, som bygger på en narrativ analys av materialet, har fokuserats kring hur reportern Sarah Koenigs berättande är utformat. Detta eftersom syftet med uppsatsen är att identifiera huruvida det finns belägg för kritiken som serien tagit emot, och som främst är riktad mot Sarah Koenigs berättargrepp. Utifrån de fynd som görs i analysen dras slutsatsen att det går att identifiera problematiska inslag i serien, framförallt gällande bristen på motiv, men att Serial inte nödvändigtvis behöver dömas ut som ett journalistiskt misslyckande. Istället argumenterar uppsatsen för att Serial snarare bör betraktas som en stapplande stilbildare inom det ännu unga och oreglerade podcast-formatet.

Web 2.0 tools, namely blogs, wikis, podcasts, and RSS were introduced to change teaching practices of in-service high school teachers to improve the collaboration of today's students in the English language classroom. Two high school teachers of English language and their classes participated. The teachers were interviewed about their current teaching practices and provided with training to develop teaching units that use Web 2.0 to engage students as active collaborators in their learning. They integrated blogs, podcasts, wikis, and RSS into their teaching. Additional interviews were conducted during and after the implementation stage. Implementation strategies, changes in teaching practices, challenges encountered, and the impact on student interaction and collaboration were closely examined. Students were surveyed at the conclusion. Teachers found that Web 2.0 tools made them more efficient in teaching. Blogging was the most powerful tool for journal writing and sharing ideas. Wikis were more difficult to use but were useful to facilitate group planning and collaborative construction of knowledge. Podcasts were useful for publishing audio recordings of interviews, speeches, and poetry recitals. RSS feeds made it easy for teachers and students to track updates on websites, posts on blogs, collaborations on wikis, and audio recordings on podcasts. Both teachers and students enjoyed the interactions and collaboration that took place in the English classroom using Web 2.0 tools.

Syfte: Studiens syfte är att belysa och analysera, men även att problematisera hur podcasten kan fungera som arena för identitetsskapande och dess funktion för de unga vuxnas fansutövande. Ett viktigt initialläge är att identitetsskapandet i synnerhet är något som äger rum i vardagen. Vi har i vår studie använt Alex & Sigges podcast och dess fans som ett fallstudium, med avsikt att ge kunskap och lärdomar för ett större område.  Frågeställningar:  Hur kan man tolka och förstå Alex och Sigges följarskara utifrån idéer om fandom? Vilken betydelse beskriver de unga vuxna följarna att Alex & Sigges podcast har för deras identitetsskapande? Metod och material: Kvalitativa forskningsintervjuer med åtta unga vuxna i åldrarna 20-30. Huvudresultat: Alex & Sigges podcast inbegriper olika delar av livet som fansen kan känna igen sig i och föra över till sina egna liv och identiteter.

The research conducted in ‘The Internal podcast’ aims to answer how podcast could be used for internal communication in organizations and what its weakness and strength is. The study has gathered theories such as storytelling, affordance and sensemaking and combined them into a unique framework for this study. Based on multimodal analysis we have studied three podcasts content and content design to help answer the questions of the study. The three podcasts: Kackellackan, Fast forward and Radio Samhall all have their coworkers as the primary target group. From these podcasts the study analyzed at a total of 60 episodes (20 from each podcast). The results showed that all three podcasts have different content design that suggests multiple possibilities for organizations to form the content for their own needs. Because of its intimate and close character, it also suggests a usefulness for sensemaking in organizational changes. But one of the weaknesses that the result pointed at is the lack of interaction between producer and listener, because one key part in empowerment is the possibility for feedback.

Mediefenomenet podcast har slagit igenom ordentligt i Sverige det senaste året och två av de mest populära drivs av fyra män. Alexander Schulman och Sigge Eklund med ”Alex och Sigges podcast” samt Filip Hammar och Fredrik Wikingsson med ”Filip och Fredriks podcast”. Podcasten öppnar upp för samtal fria från tidsbundenhet och producentstyrda manus så som den traditionella radion är upplagd vilket banar väg för mer förtroliga och personliga samtal deltagarna emellan. Jag tycker att det är intressant att ur ett maskulinitetsperspektiv granska vad männen i den här offentliga miljön väljer att tala om men också hur de gör det. Deltagarnas vänskap gör det intressant att studera homosocialiteten dem emellan. Syftet med studien är att studera hur dessa män talar med varandra i det offentliga podcastmediet, vilka maskulinitetstyper som framkommer i samtalen och hur homosocialiteten deltagarna emellan ser ut, samt om samtalen skiljer sig åt eller liknar varandra ur dessa aspekter. Detta kommer jag att göra genom att kombinera två analysmetoder; samtalsanalys och narrativ analys. Frågeställningarna lyder således: Hur är samtalen organiserade och uppbyggda? Vad är det för samtalsklimat och samtalsstil som råder? Finns det markörer som indikerar på olika maskulinitetstyper och vilka är i så fall dessa? Hur tar sig homosocialiteten uttryck genom samtalen? Jag studerar materialet med Raewyn Connells maskulinitetsteori som stöd. För att studera männens samtalsstil utgår jag ifrån Deborah Tannens teori. Homosocialiteten i samtalen angrips med resultat från studier av Jesper Andreasson och Karina Butera som utgångspunkter. Även mediepåverkan och mediebilden av män belyses i teoridelen. Studien visar på en antydan till en fördjupad homosocialitet. Samtalen följer den narrativa struktur jag utgått ifrån och indikationer på en delaktig maskulinitet finns i båda avsnitten. Båda samtalen rör ganska känsliga ämnen där diskussionerna stundvis blir mycket djupa och allvarliga men podcasterna skiljer sig åt i samtalsstil där Filip och Fredrik har en hårdare samtalsstil än Alex och Sigge.

I denna uppsats undersöks användandet av inspelade föreläsningar och hur studenters och lärares inställning är och hur de påverkas av att använda tekniken. Undersökningen som gjordes är begränsad till Linnéuniversitet i Växjö. Undersökningen som gjordes ger dessutom information hur man kan förbättra en inspelad föreläsning och vad som behövs göras före, under och efter en föreläsning. / This essay examines the use of recorded lectures and how students and teachers thought about it and how they are affected by the use of the technology. The survey was limited to Linnaeus University of Växjö. The survey conducted also provides information about how to improve a recorded lecture and what to do before, during and after a lecture.

This dissertation examines the effect of podcast tours on park visitor experiences. Podcast tours have emerged as a new medium in facilitating the interaction between tourists and destinations. Providing visitors with enhanced experiences through the use of interpretive technologies is especially important for national parks dealing with enhancing visitors' experiences which may influence visitors' perception of environmental stewardship and, in turn, positively affect preserving environmental resources. Furthermore, there has been a noticeable increase in consumer demand for podcast tours. Based on theoretical accounts that human voices convey rich social information, this dissertation proposes that podcast tours enhance perceived social presence and mindfulness which leads to enhanced tourist experiences (learning, enjoyment, and escape) and environmental stewardship (attitudinal and behavioral stewardship). A field experiment was conducted at Padre Island National Seashore using MP3 players containing podcast tours. The podcasts were manipulated using four experimental conditions: 2 information source compositions (single narrator voice vs. multiple narrator voices) x 2 narrating styles (formal style vs. conversational style). The questionnaire administered to subjects after they took the podcast tour included measures of social presence, mindfulness, tourist experience (learning, enjoyment, and escape), and stewardship (attitudinal and behavioral stewardship). The pre-questionnaire included question items regarding the nature of the visit, visitor characteristics, technology usage behavior, audio tour evaluation and socio-demographics. Responses from 221 visitors were analyzed using structural equation modeling with LISREL 8.7. The results provide evidence that multiple voices, and to some extent also narration style, positively increase social presence but neither experimental condition had any influence on mindfulness. The increased feeling of social presence influences park visitors' enjoyment and escape experiences but not learning. Mindfulness was found to affect visitors' learning, enjoyment, and escape experience. The results further show that enhanced experiences positively influence attitudinal stewardship which in turn leads to behavioral stewardship toward national parks. The results of this dissertation generally support the theoretical model suggesting that even if communicated through audio-only media, the human voice creates and sustains a positive social context for meaningful interaction which influences tourist experiences and stewardship. Mindfulness was also found to be an important construct impacting the quality of visitor experiences but could not be explained by the specific podcast tour designs tested. From a practical perspective, the findings provide important insights regarding the usefulness of podcast tours as interpretative media, and also suggest that specific designs are more capable of fostering feelings of social presence.

Though a relatively new form of communication technology, the podcast serves as a remediated form of the classical orator—merging the classical practices of oration with current methods of production and delivery. This study draws connections from the historical five canons of rhetoric and current usability studies to build a heuristic for developing and evaluating usable podcast design.
