Andersson, Anders January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to provide knowledge about user experiences of podcasts with enhancing material in the form of images, links and videos, as well as to provide a better understanding of the relationship between new technology and user with focus on podcast listening. This was made by evaluating user experiences of the podcast application Acast (which includes enhancing material in the form of images, links and videos). The study is conducted with qualitative methods through a case study. The empirical material is based on 11 respondents where they have answered a survey regarding their previous experience of podcast listening. The respondents have also participated in focus groups where they interacted with the enhancing material. The focus groups resulted in empirical data which was transcribed and analysed by a categorization. The analysed material was also set in relation to the answers from the survey, in that way relationships and contradictions where identyfied. The conclusions from the study indicate that respondents experienced shortcomings when it came to the product's environment for interaction, functionality and purpose, which was in contrast to the respondents needs and expectations. It also shows that respondents who listen to podcasts daily had a more negative view of the enhancing material than the remaining respondents. The study also shows that podcasts needs to be well made, use high resolution images and notices to ensure that the enhancing material is considered valuable to the user.

"Från En Kriminell Till Frälst" : En kvalitativ innehållsanalys av en intervju i Framgångspodden med Sebastian Stakset.

Filis, Johanna January 2023 (has links)
The aim of this study is to examine the potential of coping theory in the analysis of a life story presented in a podcast. This was achieved through the following research questions: What aspects are emphasized in Sebastian Stakset's past lifestyle and current life? Which themes in Stakset's life story reveal that the medium used to convey it is a podcast? How does Pargament's coping theory function in the analysis of a life transformation story presented in a podcast? The study employed the methods podcast ethnography and qualitative content analysis to answer these questions, based on the theoretical framework of coping theory, podcast as a tool for individual change, and prior research. The results indicate that Stakset's childhood, mental health, criminal background, music career, and religious conversion comprise the primary areas of focus in his life story. The story is influenced by elements such as success, marketing, newsworthiness, listener interactions, and language use due to its presentation in a podcast. The study reveals connections between coping theory and the transformation of orientation systems into specific practices, maintenance and change mechanisms, significance, and stressful situations. However, some assumptions could not be linked due to a lack of manifest expression or infrequent occurrence. This suggests that some of the assumptions of coping theory can be utilized when applied to a life story communicated through a podcast but needs to be refined to cover all assumptions.

Psychology in a Podcast Context: Do Brand Personality Perceptions and Social Nudges Explain Consumers’ Behavioral Intentions to Subscribe to Breaking Points?

Berry, Stephen D. 01 December 2023 (has links) (PDF)
Two psychological variables are of interest in the study of consumers: brand personality perceptions (per social cognition, beliefs that brands exhibit human-like attributes) and nudges (per behavioral economics, an attempt to influence behavioral change that benefits the consumer without taking away their right to choose). However, no known research exists about whether these variables explain behavioral intentions to consume podcasts, specifically. This is relevant because perceptions of mass media brands are historically negative, and consumers increasingly seek out independent media (e.g., Breaking Points). Therefore, this dissertation’s purpose was to use Breaking Points as an example to study the influence of brand personality and nudges on behavioral intentions to subscribe to a podcast. In two survey experiments (total N = 486 United States adults recruited via CloudResearch’s Connect), brand personality perceptions (i.e., sincerity, competence, status) were hypothesized to explain intentions to subscribe. Likewise, those exposed to the potential nudge were expected to report stronger intentions, compared to those unexposed. All participants viewed a description about and a clip from the podcast. Some were also randomly assigned to view a potential nudge from Breaking Points’ YouTube channel. Then, all participants answered questions about the podcast’s brand personality, about intentions to subscribe, and about psychographics. In both experiments, hierarchical regression revealed that brand personality significantly explained behavioral intentions while controlling for potential confounds (average R2 = 40%). The findings provide evidence that brand personality knowledge can expand into podcasts. In contrast, future research should investigate other stimuli that could potentially nudge podcast consumers.

Flying In Our Sleep

Strauss, John 01 December 2022 (has links) (PDF)
Flying In Our Sleep is a one-hour radio / podcast production of a story in which “Teens wake to discover they’re drafted into an army of killer robot drones and must outwit their deadly AI overlords in a desperate bid to escape.” This partly ironic summary sets the tone for an adventure story for Young Adult audiences with thoughtful elements around the meaning of consciousness, personality, and friendship. The project also includes a paper, “The Art of the Fiction Podcast,” that explains how the show was produced, and argues that digital media has a place in literary writing programs to expand the realm of creative expression, equip students with valuable competencies, and provide avenues of outreach to diverse communities.

Andersson, Charlie, Ljungberg, Hampus January 2023 (has links)

Söderberg, Annamaria, Arnesdotter, Madelen January 2013 (has links)
The purpose of this paper is to study two podcasts, one with only men, and one with only women. By doing a critical text analysis of C/O Hannah and Amanda, and Alex’s and Sigge’s podcast, we study how femininity and masculinity are manifested in the podcasts. Parallel to our observations of the language, we compare our results to earlier research of popular cultural studies of media. We aim to see how the podcast, acclaimed to be a free medium, is a possible platform for new thinking or retrogressive values. In our analysis, we give examples of how the podcast hosts use their gender as a performance. We give examples of how they produce new, but also break, habits of gender patterns, and how they seem to be conscious about their choice of words, but not always implement this knowledge in their language. We problematize how the podcast language may make ground for values and norms for the receiver to adopt, and resubmit to our theoretical framework.

Skärmfångad video som didaktiskt verktyg

Törnblad, Niclas January 2010 (has links)

For those, i made a analise of this new formats of cinema that came show thru the new tecnologies of digital web comunications. One of this cases is the cinema in the worl wide web, show directely in internet, oppenin a question of what is cinema in the web. To identify this new format, we analise the sites Atom Films (www.atomfilms.com.br) and Porta Curtas, a site especialized in brazilian shorts in the web, for a significative exemple of this changes. The other case is mobile cinema, in podcasts e celular phones, that became popular in last years. Based on Arlindo Machado e Lev Manovich Theory, the way to make this analise show the realtions of cinema and others cultural texts around it, pushing the discution of cinema in the center of the discussion of cultural web. Thru this perspective, we can conclue that the integration between cinema and web promotes the hibridization of video and computer language in its signification process. This can make a language that promotes the integration of fotoquimic images with eletronic and digitals images, pointing new ways to audiovisual in the context of on line comunication / Este estudo busca identificar as transformações da linguagem cinematográfica a partir da sua integração ao formato digital nos meios de telecomunicação em rede, notadamente a Internet e os dispositivos móveis.
