A arte de esgrimir no vazio: normal, anormal e patológico na poesia de Adília Lopes / The art of fencing in the void: the normal, abnormal and pathologic in the Adília Lopes poetry

Honda, Lilian 26 September 2018 (has links)
The issue of psychic suffering is a recurrent theme in Adília Lopes\' artwork, arising in the form of allusions to psychopathology, medications, names of doctors and psychotherapists, and references to the history of mental illness treatment, as well as hospital facilities and their patients. This article aims to analyze the representations of the subject in Adilian poetry, evidencing the critical point of view in relation to the excessive social normalization prevailing in contemporaneity and in scientism, which underlie the medicalization of behaviors. The theoretical reference is based on the concepts of normality and pathology established by Georges Canguilhem, his articulation with Michel Foucault\'s concept of biopower, and the implication of normalizing procedures in the emergence of depression paradigm according to Elizabeth Roudinesco\'s conception.

Rui Knopfli e Manuel Alegre: de exílios e insílios, a poesia / Rui Knopfli and Manuel Alegre: from exiles and inner exiles, the Poetry

Lima, Kelly Mendes 26 April 2017 (has links)
The thesis presents a comparative study between the poetic work of the Mozambican Rui Knopfli (1932-1997) and that one of the Portuguese Manuel Alegre (1936-) from the concept of \"self writing\" (M. Foucault, 1983). It accompanies and reflects on the literary course of both authors, establishing relations with their experiences of public knowledge and their conceptions regarding literature, politics and homeland. In short, their poetic subjects, just like those historical subjects, are decentered in relation to any \"official\" discourse, whether the narrowest of the Academies and the Literary Criticism, or the broadest of the Portuguese Estado Novo and even that one of political groups opposed to it, including, in the case of the African writer, the one coming from the Frente de Libertação de Moçambique (Frelimo). They are therefore \"displaced\" voices, from an I in inner exile. However, this sense is not restricted to the figurative: both in their objective reality, even in alternated moments, were marked by the exit, traumatic and for political reasons, from their original place, from their space, from their homeland; they did indeed know the physical exile and, likewise, transformed this experience into poetic matter. Throughout their journeys, always under the sign of displaced or decentralized, the poetry of both is equally active and full of paths and misfortunes quite close and if History and the sensitive world are gaining airs of disillusionment for those men, the poetic discourse shows that it can be beyond the means to denounce aesthetically the Portuguese dictatorship and colonization and the pain and suffering of those involved in the colonial / independence wars. Poetry is also the space, process and result for and of a reflection on the part of the being, constituting this discursivization like a \"self writing\". In addition, Poetry, which finally becomes the possible homeland, goes beyond the political-geographical limits of the territory where they are or would like to be and even and above all the limits of death, the ultimate exile of life, always on the look-out and that can be felt more and more as time goes by.

A Prymera parte da cronica do emperador Clarimundo donde os Reys de Portugal desçendem: Retórica e ensinamento moral na crônica de João de Barros / The Prymera parte da cronica do emperador Clarimundo donde os reys de Portugal descendem: rhetoric and moral teaching in João de Barros\' chronicle

Reis, Flávio Antônio Fernandes 11 April 2013 (has links)
The Prymera parte da cronica do emperador Clarimundo donde os reys de Portugal desçendem, written by a noble from the court of D. Manuel I and D. João III, called João de Barros, and published by Germão de Galharde in 1522, is composed of three unfinished books, named first part, in accordance with the topoi of knightly narratives. The panegyric genealogy proposed by the Clarimundo highlights this text in the context of Portuguese letters, and specifies it as a chronicle containing the narrative of where the Kings of Portugal descend from. It\'s material was up till then uncommon in the Iberian letters, but imitated from antique sources, particularly the Eneid, by Virgil, and Orlando Furioso, by Ariosto, a eulogy of the Casa d\'Este. In this sense, João de Barros\' painting allegorizes, in the figure of Clarimundo, the prince from whose lineage descend the Portuguese kings, and this is the occasion for being both a mirrored images, and an exemplary models of regal excellency. This work aims to analyze the rhetorical and poetical procedures at work in the epideictic discourse of João de Barros\' chronicle, to the end of delectation, teaching and moving. In order to do this, I have kept to the text, nearing it to the categories with which it is verisimilar, and distancing it from obvious solutions and easy schemes.

Antônio José da Silva: uma dramaturgia de convenções / Antônio José da Silva: a dramaturgy made of conventions

Rosa, Carlos Junior Gontijo 05 April 2017 (has links)
This doctoral thesis analyzes the mythological plays written by the eighteenth century playwright Antônio José da Silva, the Jew, whose work owes a great deal to the Spanish tragicomedy of the seventeenth century. Based on his plays, this paper proposes elements for a better understanding of dramatic texts: hybrid reading, which makes use of Literary and Theatre studies; historical contextualization, to avoid anachronism; and character construction, the touchstone in the relationship between Literature and Drama. Because the texts analyzed here are distant from the contemporary reader both chronologically and stylistically, it is advised to use the imagination to reconstruct the scenes described in the text. The reflections about the plays are divided into two Journeys which complement each other, but they are presented separately due to their extension and to the diversity of research outputs. In the First Journey, Antônio José\'s playwriting is considered within the cultural-historical context of its production, by comparing different versions of the Greco-Roman myths and the precepts contemporary with the author. To start with, this paper presents the varied tragicomic precepts of the seventeenth-century Europe and, by doing so, it establishes points of contact and reference in the corpus of this research. After extensive search in Portuguese libraries, a hypothesis about the route linking the construction of mythological characters and the texts of the Jew is proposed. Each of the five plays is analyzed separately and the focus is the main plot - that is to say, the \"tragic\" part of the tragicomedy - and its characters, in great part extracted from Greco-Latin mythological literature. The Second Journey focuses on the construction of the secondary plot - the \"comic\" component which completes the analysis of both parts of a tragicomedy -. Recent interpretative perspectives of dramatic texts about the Spanish Golden Age, developed by a group of Spanish researchers, shed light on the secondary plot. This analysis shows that the secondary plot grows in importance when compared to the main plot. In fact, in the authors last plays, it even affects the main storyline - without overcoming its prominence, though. The secondary plot comprises graciosos and servants (graciosas), and to study these characters, this paper adopts a list of evaluative functions of the characters\' speeches, using the protagonist of each play as a reference. The secondary plot in the plays by Antônio José retains another feature: they are independent from the main one; and from this aspect derives another function, combined to the ones that had already been developed by the Spanish researchers aforementioned. Therefore, each of the mythological plays by the Jew is analyzed separately to demonstrate that both the secondary plot and the low characters perform an important role not only in the structural composition of those plays, but also in the constitution of an interesting unit to please the audience. By ways of conclusion, this paper sets up a conceptual discussion about crucial elements to read and analyze these dramatic texts and others: the hybrid reading, historical contextualization and character construction.

Miguel Torga: em busca do paraíso perdido / Miguel Torga: search for lost paradise

Ferreira, Raquel Terezinha Rodrigues 06 March 2009 (has links)
Taking into account both the importance of memorialistic texts and of Miguel Torga in the Portuguese literary scene, this thesis proposes a study of one of this author\'s masterpieces, The creation of the world (A criação do mundo). Based on Fredric Jameson\'s descriptive and interpretive model of reading, the analysis shows that in the formal organization of the narrative, that differs from other writings by the author as well as from other well-known memorialistic texts, the maskings or contention strategies serve to soften up matters which Torga can\'t deal with and end up saying more of the author than what is manifest in the text.

Cesário Verde: o guardador do efêmero / Cesário Verde: ephemeral\'s keeper

Ozawa, André Yuiti 19 April 2017 (has links)
This thesis discusses ephemerality as a constitutive and motivating aspect in Cesário Verde\'s work, and as the apprehension of fugacity, it is a gesture of love and a desire to preserve it. Using Pareysonian aesthetics, the readings from such hermeneutics want to reveal how the formativity of the work shows such a worldview.

January 2013 (has links)
The tree word] by Teolinda Gersão and A manta do soldado by Lídia Jorge - this study analyzes the formation of the discursive structure in those novels by examining the configuration of space and time under their fundamental link - the artistic literary chronotope. This work also investigates the relationship between those narratives and the historical and social discourses, as well as their narrators' process of identity construction by emphasizing the discursive procedures that are used by these novels in order to reveal the diegesis issues, like the tension that emanates from its space and time, or the narrator's intimate conflicts. The parodic procedures are examined as well as the use of the free indirect discourse, the process of debunking ideological myths and the appropriation of other languages such as the cinematic one / Mestre

Um manual para a vida, por José Saramago: o limiar da nova humanidade / A manual for life, by José Saramago: the threshold of the new humanity

Nivaldo Medeiros Diogenes 10 October 2014 (has links)
This thesis presents a study on the use of threshold along some novels of Jose Saramago.
