Utvärdering av mjukvara inom processindustrin / Evaluation of software for the process industry

Gustafsson, Daniel January 2015 (has links)
This study is an evaluation of the runtime watch function in a OEE software, knownas ProTAK. OEE stands for Overall Equipment Effectiveness, it’s a way to measurethe factories process efficiency. The runtimewatch function allows the user to setup and monitor certain critical objects that are of importance for the pulp and paper process at the mill. The data from the runtimewatch can be correlated towards the suppliers specification for the components. The function can if beeing used correctly result in a higher timeavailablity utilization rate for the factories which in turn results in a higher profit margin for the companies. It turns out that the function is used to a limited extent by the customers and the study intends to find out the reasons behind this and to proposeimprovement suggestions to increase the utilization rate. The design of the study was based on the scientific theory of user evaluation in which three suitible evaluation methods were selected. The three methods that were used were the webbsurvey, the observationstudy and the focusgroup. The end result showed that the function was appreciated by the customer but needed to be strengthened in certain areas. ProTAK Systems AB needs to develop its marketing of new features and educate the customer, but also improve/clarify certain critical usersteps in the graphical user interface. The study shows that the user lacks support, assistance, training and information on how the function can be best used on their factory. A plan with improvement proposals was developed in correlation with the developer and it’s hoped that the results of the study can serve as a basic template when other features of the software are evaluated for building the next major iteration of ProTAK.

Another objective of the study was to examine how Korsnäs Frövi communicates and transforms information as requests and demands from customers into refined material. To obtain relevant information to the study several interviews with respondents from most of the value chain in Korsnäs Frövi has been carry out. The theoretical basis was created by a literature study, where the material was gathered from books and articles in areas that were relevant to the study's progress. The product Frövi White and its service concept is partly unique, but most of it is similar to other offerings on the market, and then quite easy to plagiarize. Selected timing for the launch of Frövi White was partly right when demand was quite high, but wrong when the product had not achieved all the objectives. A methodical deployment strategy may increase the possibility to do it better.  Success factor is to maintain a high-tech innovation in the enterprise, with the help of knowledge generation and technological expertise to transform desire and demands for products and services. It requires a balanced approach and a simultaneous link between the marketing, development and production department. It’s missing a link between production and marketing department in Korsnäs Frövi and most therefore been strengthened. Korsnäs has enhanced certain features which made the company better understanding of what end consumers wants. By strengthening the interaction between R & D and marketing department can it be easier to transfer the scientific theory into the products. Korsnäs can use the "customer retention" to measure the profitability of the product and its "outer halo".</p>

IDENTIFIERING AV MATERIALSLÖSERI I WELLPAPPINDUSTRIN / IDENTIFYING MATERIAL WASTE IN THE CORRUGATED CARDBOARD INDUSTRY

Skärin, Hampus, Hjalmarsson, Erik January 2015 (has links)
Purpose – The study aims to examine why material waste is generated in a production process in the corrugated cardboard industry and identify the products that cause the most waste, and how the classification can be used as a basis for addressing these wastes. Metholodgy – To meet the purpose of the report, a case study has been conducted in collaboration with Stora Enso Packaging AB in Jönköping. The authors first created a theoretical framework that was continously compared and analyzed with the empirical data gathered through observations, interviews and document studies. The empirical data has generated an analysis and discussion of the study's main area. Background – Material waste is a form of waste in the corrugated board industry which creates unnecessary costs in the material flow. These costs are part of what is called quality costs, costs that are estimated at 10-30% of the company's revenue in the Swedish industries. Findings – Based on empirical data collected and studied literature the authors have identified three main reasons why material waste occurs in a production process of the corrugated board industry. The three reasons are; lack of standardized work, lack of internal communication and the lack of quality controls of raw materials. The findings also present how product classification can be used identify the products which causes the most material waste. Conclusions – The authors believe that the main reason behind a lot of the material waste that occurs in the studied process is its varying input. Various grades of raw materials and various settings of the machine makes it difficult to achieve a stable process, which leads to the occurance of material waste. Implications – The identified material waste and its cause is only designed for a corrugated board industry and the shortcomings that the properties of a typical process industry contributes to. The report is based on a case study in the corrugated board industry and could be generalized to most businesses within the same segment. The work, however, may have to be adapted for other activities depending on varying conditions. Keywords – Corrugated cardboard industry, process industry, material waste, ABC analysis,,fishbone, diagram.

Ackumulering av ånga : Effektivare ångproduktion vid Akzo Nobel Stockvik

Breitkreuz, Rikard January 2017 (has links)
Snabbast återbetalningstid 4,4 år, har en ack-umulator av 29 m3.Miljömässiga fördelar oberoende på val av ackumulator är minskad oljeanvändning med ca 350 m3/år vilket medför sänkt koldioxidutsläpp / This report aims to examine if it is possible to install an accumulator for steam-accumulation at the steam plantof Akzo Nobel Stockvik and to calculate its dimensions. The accumulator’spurpose is to level out the steam production when there is intermittent usage of steam at different steamconsumers. Within site Stockvik it is possible to use internal fuels such as CO-gas and hy-drogengas for steam production, the use of internal fuel is both environmental and economically positive. When large steam demands occurit is not sufficient to only use internal fuels and oil has to be used to produce steam as backup to meet the steam demand. An accumulator can be used to store steam at low steam demand and use at high demand instead of producing steam with oil as fuel. An energy audit shows that the two major consumers also has very varying needs of steamwhich results in a need to use oil as backup fuel in boiler 3.This shows that there is a need of an accumulator in the system. The accumulator can be installed close to the steam plant which reduces the energy losses. Three accumulators havebeen calculated from an average effect of boiler 3. The accumulators havea total volume of 29, 70 and 112 m3. Large quantities of data from the steam process are digitally stored atAkzo Nobel, this data have been used to compare the different accumulators to the actual steam production 2015 and 2016. The profit of installing a steam accumulator is independent of the accumulator size but the cost of installing the accumulator increases with larger volume. The shortest payback period 4,4 years is when choosing the smallest accumulator, 29 m3.Environmental benefitsareachieved by a reduction of oil usage by350 m3/year whichreduces the CO2emissions by 1000 tons/yearand SO2emissions by 1,3 tons/year

BIM som en effektivisering av processindustrin : en fallstudie på COWI Management AB / BIM as a streamlining of processing industry : A case study at COWI Management AB

Wallin, Eric January 2012 (has links)

Hassling, Magnus, Löppönen, Pauli January 2008 (has links)

Gustavsson, Maria January 2000 (has links)
This dissertation is concerned with potential for learning in process operator work. The purpose of this thesis is to study and contribute to increased understanding in different conditions which can be assumed to create potentials for learning in the daily work of the process operators' . The thesis presents a contextual perspective on learning based on situated learning and activity theory. Learning is in some sense both recreative and developmental. Recreative learning takes place in many daily situations where people become better at doing what they already do at work. In all work which, in some sense, is recreative, there is a trivial variation that may lead to a new understanding and the development of new approaches and working methods, but there is also something long-lasting that extends outside the situation and which mayencourage the development of activity systems and communities of practice. The empirical study is based on case studies of four teams at apaper mill. The four shift teams differ since they are located in different production environments with unique qualities and have different work organizational conditions. The study uses diaries, interviews, documents and informant interviews to collect empirical information. It appears from the results that the common characteristics shared by the shift teams predominate. One finding is that different positions and operators have access to different machines and workstations within the department. In many situations, the operators must balance what they are allowed to do and what they are able to do in the shift teams. In the teams, common competence is of great or even decisive importance for the cooperation that develops. Another important result is that there are differences between more experienced and less experienced operators. These differences are reflected in their action and interaction pattems, Le. what they do (and in particular do not do) and how interaction takes place between more experienced and less experienced operators in the shift teams. / <p>2000</p>
