Diseño de un Plan de Defensa Contra Contingencias Extremas en el SING

Olivares Quero, Daniel Eduardo January 2008 (has links)

LÃngua brasileira de sinais: fala-em-interaÃÃo entre surdos / Language Brasilian Sing: talking in interacion between deafs

Dannytza Serra Gomes 06 June 2014 (has links)
This research, which continues the research started in the Masters course, aims to observe interactions with deaf people users of sign language with the aim of analyzing how occurs the discursive topic development in natural environments using this language. The study is centred on the interaction between deaf and the instrument is the Brazilian Sign Language. For achievement of these objectives we sought the support of the theory of Conversational Analysis, based on Marcuschi (1986, 2007), Sacks (1992), Jubran (1992, 1996), FÃvero (1995, 2005), Goffman (2002), DionÃsio (2006), Kerbrat - Orecchioni (2006), Schegloff (2007), Liddicoat (2011), Santos and GalvÃo (2012) studies among others, electing one of the analytical categories of conversation / interaction to guide the results of this study: the discursive topic. We conducted a brief survey about sign languages, but precisely the Libras, based on the works of Stokoe (1960, 1965, 1972), Ferreira-Brito (1995); Quadros (1997, 2004; 2011); Coutinho (2000); Chaveiro and Barbosa (2004); Santana (2007); Kojima and Segala (2008); Serra (2009), among others. Ethnomethodology was used in this research, since we do not seek pre-prepared or well structured speeches, but, everyday spontaneous conversations, respecting our epistemological and methodological choice. The model collection was filming, since we did not have audio; informants were four professors, to ensure the fluency of generating themes, and transcription was performed in two stages: one with and one interpreter as a translation into Portuguese and analysis procedures followed the theoretical perspectives of speech in interaction. The exhibition of the results was divided in several steps, because the analysis was made video by video. We started with a generator topic of conversation among the informants, the presence of the theoretical properties already established about the discourse topic, possible disruptions topical, the transcript of excerpts of the interaction and the proposition of a new category that includes studies of visuospatial language conversations: the spatialization. Thanks to the analysis of the results, we determined the legitimacy of spatialization as guarantor of the continuity and development of the topic in the interaction between deafs.

”Sometimes I feel so invisible I wonder if I’m here at all.”

Rehn, Matilda January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to identify the existential themes present in the movie Where the crawdads sing (2022) by using the method thematic content analysis. The method is used when the aim is to identify themes or patterns within the data. In the movie the main character, Kya, faces challenges in life that raise existential thoughts and questions that together point to the existential themes being identified. Furthermore, the study examined how the main character deals with these existential challenges by applying Pargament’s religious coping theory. The theory explains how people use religious or spiritual beliefs to cope with stress and adversity. The research questions for this study are:  What existential themes challenge Kya? How does Kya relate and deal with these existential challenges? The result of the study showed that the movie explores themes of social context, to be exposed to threats and thoughts of life and death. When researching how Kya copes with her challenges, it was discovered that nature and social relationships are significant for Kya throughout the movie. However, she uses a reconstructive coping mechanism in order to conserve her significance. Kya does this by getting rid of obstacles in her way.

Voice, Agency, and Urgency : Three Ecocritical Readings of Nature and the Protagonist in Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens / Röst, agens och brådska : Tre ekokritiska läsningar av naturen och huvudpersonen i Where the Crawdads Sing av Delia Owens

Salisbury, Annika January 2023 (has links)
The female protagonist Catherine Danielle Clark (Kya) in Delia Owens’ Where the Crawdads Sing is abandoned by her family at a young age and grows up alone in a marshland environment in 1950s North Carolina. Shunned by the local community, Kya relies on nature to help her survive and to teach her about life and love—until one day she finds herself accused of murder. The purpose of this essay is to examine how the author uses nature and the protagonist Kya in order to promote environmental consciousness in the novel, interlinking them in ways that advance identifiable environmental concepts. Therefore, the essay carries out a close reading of the text using three different ecocritical lenses—postcolonial ecocriticism, ecofeminism, and climate change criticism—and with a focus on three themes, respectively—voice, agency, and urgency. It finds first, through an exploration of voice and a postcolonial ecocritical lens, that both nature and Kya are othered in the novel but come to be heard and respected over time; second, through an exploration of agency and an ecofeminist lens, that activity rather than passivity is ascribed to nature and Kya, and their interconnectedness acts as a positive force for change; and third, through an exploration of urgency and a climate change criticism lens, that the interconnectedness of nature and Kya persuades readers to care about the natural world and appreciate the need to respect and protect it, using a subtle rather than overtly political message. Overall, Delia Owens’ use of nature and the protagonist promotes three key environmental concepts: the voice of nature, the agency of nature, and the urgency of respecting nature. This essay concludes that Where the Crawdads Sing speaks to the environmental consciousness of readers in these times of troubling climatic change, lending itself to a variety of ecocritical readings and offering a glimmer of hope.

Professional development of academic staff in private higher education / Living theory / Mentorship

Boshoff, Annette January 2014 (has links)
A common phenomenon in the private higher education environment is that lecturers are highly qualified subject specialists and conduct research mainly in areas in their fields of expertise. Therefore they are not always well informed about the dynamics of the global educational environment and they do not have an indepth knowledge of how learning takes place. As a result of this the traditional lecturing style is mainly used during contact sessions and mostly theoretical knowledge is assessed in written examinations. During class visits that were conducted as part of my duties as quality assurer of the teaching, learning and assessment that take place in the Production Management Institute of Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd (trading as PMI), a private higher education institution, it was noticed that the facilitators of learning present mostly lectures that are based on one-way communication with very little student participation. Learning style flexibility and allowing active student participation during the contact sessions are, in most instances, not considered. This lecturer-centred practice prevents the students from developing responsibility for their own learning process and creating an interest in becoming lifelong learners. An action research-driven professional development programme was presented to the academic staff of PMI to allow them the opportunity to develop innovative facilitation of learning practices. The programme aimed to create a scholarly approach to establishing a culture of lifelong learning in the private higher education environment – in literature commonly referred to as a scholarship of learning and teaching. The academic staff members conducted action research on their own practices as facilitators and assessors of lifelong learning. I conducted living theory action research on my style of being a mentor for the participants of the project. The programme commenced in 2009. The content of and the level on which the programme was presented are in line with a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE) that is offered at a public institution. The participants were introduced to, inter alia, the principles of the Ned Herrmann Whole Brain® theory, Gardner’s multiple intelligence theory and Bloom’s taxonomy of cognitive levels. As the first step in the programme all the participants completed the on-line Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument® (HBDI®). An accredited Hermann Brain Dominance practitioner was contracted to provide feedback to the participants and to explain the principles of this instrument. The HBDI® practitioner is affiliated on a full-time basis with the education faculty of a public higher education institution. He was contracted to facilitate the professional development programme as well. The success of the programme became evident through student feedback and requests, and feedback received from the participating facilitators of learning. Top level management of PMI also became aware of the successes and it resulted in the inclusion of the development of the academic staff members as one of the main focus areas in the strategic management plan for 2010. It was decided that the programme should be repeated every year in order to ensure the continuous professional development of existing and new academic staff members. PMI was invited to offer the programme in the Agriculture and Science Faculty of a public university. Parts of the project were showcased at the 2010 and 2012 conferences of the Higher Education Learning and Teaching Association of South Africa (HELTASA) and the Knowledge 2011 international conference. / Thesis (PhD)--University of Pretoria, 2014. / lk2014 / Humanities Education / PhD / Unrestricted

Trends of vocal warm-ups and vocal health from the perspective of singing and medical professionals

Sugars, Janeal Marie 2009 August 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this treatise is to investigate the efficacy of vocal warm-ups/vocalises and their role in teaching vocal technique and health for the solo singer. In addition, it will provide a brief history of vocalises and methods of the “Bel Canto” era. Current literature addresses warm-ups for choral ensembles and choral singers. It does not adequately address solo/individual warm-ups and their impact on vocal technique, health and performances. Laryngologists and voice professionals were interviewed to better understand the role of vocalises in the study of voice and professional performance. These interviews were conducted in person, by telephone and via electronic mail correspondence. Voice teachers and singers were surveyed on their current vocal warm-up practices both in the voice studio and in performance. Surveys are to be administered in three ways: 1) hard copy surveys delivered at the National Association of Teachers of Singing National Conference 2008; 2) selected nationally known teachers and singers received via ground mail a copy of the survey; 3) an online survey. This study was directed to obtain answers to the following questions: 1) Is there a standard methodology for vocal warm-ups?; 2) If so, how has this methodology evolved over time?; 3) What is the current use of vocal warm-ups and vocalises by voice instructors and professional voice users?; 4) How does the use of vocal warm-ups and vocalises influence the effectiveness of vocal performance?; 5) Does the use of vocal warm-ups or vocalises contribute to the health of the singer, thus resulting in an excellent vocal performance?; 6) Does practicing vocal warm-ups or vocalises have a positive effect on overall vocal health? This study aims to broaden the current understanding of vocalises and their impact on the teaching and performing of classical voice. / text

Lessa, Angélica Giovanini Micheletti 30 October 2007 (has links)
The musical analysis of the Missa Ferial Osvaldo Lacerda is the objective of this study. This mass was written between the months of February and March of 1966 and was intended for a mixed chorus(SATB) which was to be sung, a capella, on the common days of the liturgical calendar of the Roman Catholic Church. The Missa Ferial was composed at the time when the composer was an acting member of the National Commission of Sacred Music. It is the first of his four masses that represent the union of Brazilian cultural elements with sacred Catholic music, in accordance with the resolutions of the Vatican Council II. The first chapter of this dissertation analyzes the frequent aspects of the mass in relation to: the melody, the counterpoint between voices, and the harmonic element in each of the parts that makes up the overall structure of the mass. The second chapter deals with aspects dealing with timbre as well as the graduation of sonorous intensity throughout the piece. The third chapter of this study analyzes the aspect of rhythm and the application of these rhythms within the compositions construction in its whole. By means of an analytical dissection of the Missa Ferial, the fourth chapter presents interpretative annotations for the possibility of a performance of this work. The analysis of each of these elements that are embodied within the structure of this composition, was made possible by the application of the guidelines developed by Marco Antonio da Silva Ramos through the utilization of his documented study on musical analysis, as well as the study of the documentation referring to sacred music according to the Vatican Council II, and principally the documents from the National Commission of Sacred Music. It must be mentioned as well, in reference to the study of the composition, an interview made with the composer himself(of which can be encountered in the appendix of this study). In order to better understand the rhythmic constancies of Brazilian music, a collection of data was taken and analyzed from the research of Villa-Lobos. This study may hopefully provide groundwork for new interpretive perspectives.
