How co-education and sing-education in senior high scuool influence students to choose their ieader role

Tarng Hueih Wern Unknown Date (has links)

The study is centred on the interaction between deaf and the instrument is the Brazilian Sign Language. For achievement of these objectives we sought the support of the theory of Conversational Analysis, based on Marcuschi (1986, 2007), Sacks (1992), Jubran (1992, 1996), Fávero (1995, 2005), Goffman (2002), Dionísio (2006), Kerbrat - Orecchioni (2006), Schegloff (2007), Liddicoat (2011), Santos and Galvão (2012) studies among others, electing one of the analytical categories of conversation / interaction to guide the results of this study: the discursive topic. We conducted a brief survey about sign languages, but precisely the Libras, based on the works of Stokoe (1960, 1965, 1972), Ferreira-Brito (1995); Quadros (1997, 2004; 2011); Coutinho (2000); Chaveiro and Barbosa (2004); Santana (2007); Kojima and Segala (2008); Serra (2009), among others. Ethnomethodology was used in this research, since we do not seek pre-prepared or well structured speeches, but, everyday spontaneous conversations, respecting our epistemological and methodological choice. The model collection was filming, since we did not have audio; informants were four professors, to ensure the fluency of generating themes, and transcription was performed in two stages: one with and one interpreter as a translation into Portuguese and analysis procedures followed the theoretical perspectives of speech in interaction. The exhibition of the results was divided in several steps, because the analysis was made video by video. We started with a generator topic of conversation among the informants, the presence of the theoretical properties already established about the discourse topic, possible disruptions topical, the transcript of excerpts of the interaction and the proposition of a new category that includes studies of visuospatial language conversations: the spatialization. Thanks to the analysis of the results, we determined the legitimacy of spatialization as guarantor of the continuity and development of the topic in the interaction between deafs.

Currently, the evaluation of those people‟s quality of life is limited to the instruments based on the oral languages. However, in order to evaluate the quality of life of deaf people who communicate through sign language, it is necessary to have instruments which consider their cultural and linguistic differences. In Brazil, the right to communicate in their natural language, the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras), has been guaranteed to the deaf person since 2002, according to the Law n. 10.436, without imposition of the use the major language of the country. Objective: The objective of the study is to validate the Libras version of the instrument to evaluate the quality of life of people with physical and intellectual disabilities (WHOQOL-DIS). Methods: The participation in the research took place in a virtual space accessed by the electronic address www.medicina.ufg.br/qualidadedevida, which hosts the software that contains the research instruments – in the period from April 25th 2015 to June 25th 2015. Deaf associations from various cities in Brazil, universities which offer the Libras Language course and Pastoral movements of deaf have been contacted for data collection, and social media groups, such as Facebook and Whatsapp, have been created. It is a cross-sectional, descriptive, and quantitative study which makes use of traditional psychometric methods to conduct the analysis of the WHOQOL-DIS/Libras validity and trustworthiness. Its utilization has been tested in a field trial with 311 deaf people, from 18 to 65 years old, who communicate through Libras and belong to the Brazilian deaf community. Among them, 52 were retested in a 15-day interval. Results: The WHOQOL-DIS/Libras trustworthiness has been demonstrated by the Cronbach‟s alpha (internal consistency) satisfactory statistical values and by the Temporal Stability (test-retest). It has presented discriminant competence in the variables „years of study‟, „gender, and „income‟, but not in the variable „age‟. In the variable „health perception‟, it has demonstrated capacity to measure the construct. The confirmatory factor analysis showed reasonable item adjustments. Conclusion: Therefore, this research found evidence of the validity and trustworthiness of the instrument WHOQOL-DIS/Libras to evaluate the quality of life of deaf people.

Angélica Giovanini Micheletti Lessa 30 October 2007 (has links)
The musical analysis of the Missa Ferial Osvaldo Lacerda is the objective of this study. This mass was written between the months of February and March of 1966 and was intended for a mixed chorus(SATB) which was to be sung, a capella, on the common days of the liturgical calendar of the Roman Catholic Church. The Missa Ferial was composed at the time when the composer was an acting member of the National Commission of Sacred Music. It is the first of his four masses that represent the union of Brazilian cultural elements with sacred Catholic music, in accordance with the resolutions of the Vatican Council II. The first chapter of this dissertation analyzes the frequent aspects of the mass in relation to: the melody, the counterpoint between voices, and the harmonic element in each of the parts that makes up the overall structure of the mass. The second chapter deals with aspects dealing with timbre as well as the graduation of sonorous intensity throughout the piece. The third chapter of this study analyzes the aspect of rhythm and the application of these rhythms within the compositions construction in its whole. By means of an analytical dissection of the Missa Ferial, the fourth chapter presents interpretative annotations for the possibility of a performance of this work. The analysis of each of these elements that are embodied within the structure of this composition, was made possible by the application of the guidelines developed by Marco Antonio da Silva Ramos through the utilization of his documented study on musical analysis, as well as the study of the documentation referring to sacred music according to the Vatican Council II, and principally the documents from the National Commission of Sacred Music. It must be mentioned as well, in reference to the study of the composition, an interview made with the composer himself(of which can be encountered in the appendix of this study). In order to better understand the rhythmic constancies of Brazilian music, a collection of data was taken and analyzed from the research of Villa-Lobos. This study may hopefully provide groundwork for new interpretive perspectives.

Stereotyp slyšícího člověka v českém znakovém jazyce / Stereotype of the Hearing Person in the Czech Sign Language

Basovníková, Marie January 2017 (has links)
Topic of this thesis is the stereotype of a hearing person from the perspective of cultural and linguistic minority of the Deaf and how it is fixated in Czech Sign Language. The theoretical and methodological basis of the thesis lies in cognitive ethnolinguistic of J. Bartmiński and following its principles includes lexicon (analyses individual signs, collocations and idioms connected to the concept of HEARING) as well as text. On this level, different texts are explored: everyday communication in Czech Sign Language, artistic genres (storytelling, visual vernacular, fairy tales, humor, films) and texts written in Czech by Deaf authors. The stereotype of a hearing person thus reconstructed from these sources reflects various experiences of the cultural minority of the Deaf with hearing persons - both positive and negative (especially communication and behavior specific to hearing persons from the viewpoint of the Deaf).

En annan form av sånteknik : En kvalitativ studie i hur olika folksångspedagoger använder sig av genrespecifika övningar / Another kind of vocal technique : A qualitative study of how different folksong teachers use genre specific exercises while teaching folksong

Eklöf, Felicia January 2021 (has links)
The purpose of the study is to gain insight into folk song teachers' perceptions of genre-specific exercises, if and how much they are used, if teachers see a need for more such exercises and whether they believe that these exercises have an impact on students' stylistic development. Previous literature and research concern the definition of the concepts of tradition and singing technique as well as what constitutes the Swedish folk way of singing. In addition, the im- portance of a genre-specific singing technique and the lack of a folk singing methodology are explained. The study has a qualitative research approach and is based on the Sociocultural Learning Theory. Semi-structured interviews have been used as a data collection method which have then been transcribed and analyzed using thematic analysis. The results show the respond- ents' views on the folk singing style and how the views on the concept of tradition are reflected in the teaching. In addition, it appears that genre-specific exercises are used, and this mainly at the level of detail. The discussion highlights the results in relation to previously presented lit- erature where four areas are being discussed; A pronounced need would lead to change, All forms of singing technique belong to a genre, An updated list, When the "right way" is constructed.

The Expressions of A Familiar Vessel : Investigating the emotive potential of voice and dance through developing tools of non-linguistic affective expression within my performance practice.

Presencer, Alice January 2023 (has links)
‘The Expression of a Familiar Vessel’ is an investigation into the affective potential of emotional expression. Through the interdisciplinary composition of voice and dance, I am going on a journey through many expressions of varied affective states. By playing with the vastly contrasted physical qualities of voice and dance, there is the opportunity to inspect the latent qualities of emotive meaning within performance. The conceptual framework of Affect theory offered valuable insights into experience, emotion, and expression. The value systems of affective discourse favour the varied spheres of experience by rejecting linguistics and challenging the traditional academic convention by enforcing that language is not our primary way of understanding the world. I utilised and elaborated upon Tomkins’ list of categorical affective expressions in my performative works, using them as a performance score and building upon them. Therefore, this text is a behind-the-scenes insight into the creation of an affective toolkit of expression and the corresponding performance work that utilises those tools. Writing about the non-linguistic enactment of emotion is somewhat contradictory, yet it reinforces the notion of porousness whereby the alternate rationalities of feeling, creating, writing and performing merge through the body’s approach and experience. Still, bodily experience and expression is paramount, and will never be fully captured through text.

Ethical Wondering in Contemporary African American and Asian American Women's Magical Realism

Na Rim Kim (16501845) 07 July 2023 (has links)

The term magical realism traces back to the German art critic Franz Roh, who in the early twentieth century applied it to (visual) art expressing the wondrousness of life. However, this definition has been eclipsed over time. Reorienting critical attention back to magical realism as the art of portraying wonder and wondering, I explore the magical realist novels of contemporary African American and Asian American women writers. Specifically, I examine Toni Morrison’s Paradise (1997), Jesmyn Ward’s Sing, Unburied, Sing (2017), Karen Tei Yamashita’s Through the Arc of the Rain Forest (1990), and Ruth Ozeki’s A Tale for the Time Being (2013). In wonder, all frames of reference at hand suddenly become inadequate. Simultaneously, the subject’s interest is heightened. As such, the act/experience of wondering may lead to humility and respect, the two attitudes at the base of any ethically flourishing life—a life that flourishes with others. For this reason, the Asian American woman writer and peace activist Maxine Hong Kingston espoused wondering. Affiliated with groups marginalized within the US, like Kingston my writers also promote wonder. I examine how these writers, through compelling use of both content and form, guide their readers toward a particular kind of wondering: wondering with an awareness of how the act/experience might lead to ethical flourishing.
