Energy Balance and Temperature Rise Study in Cutting Station at Sandvik AB

Yekkalam Lary, Nazanin January 2012 (has links)
The project is a detail study of Energy Balance in cutting line station in Sandvik Mining and construction group. The aim of the project is reducing temperature and making a temperature balance inside the cutting line. During the recent years, many changes occur in production line. Existing cooling system cannot supply cutting area temperature below the desired level. Electrical Cables are melting due to high inside temperature. We attempted to study the old drawings and existing cooling system in cutting station to find out solutions to optimize and rebuild the old system. First part of study contains checking of preliminary air and water cooling system drawings. In the second part we looked at the operating cooling system by measuring different available working conditions such as inside temperature, air velocity and cooling water flow rate with different measuring equipment. The study integrate hot and cold stream (cooling air and water system) at different temperature level and in different times through production or non-production hours. Finally results and solutions can give valuable guidance for enterprises on how cooling systems should be expanded, what sizes should the new equipment have, where should the heat recovery exchangers be built, what new pipelines are needed, etc. To find more accurate results, we tried to do all measurements simultaneously, but due to difficult working condition it was not possible to have all input data at the same time. According to the primary data energy consumption during different times and Peak consumption amounts were calculated. Results consider the differences in cooling system effects inside the cutting line and the system which generates more cooling load and needed more improvements. The summer and winter conditions are different inside the work area. The simultaneous assurance of ventilation, energy reduction and occupant health remains a design challenge. Working area is a unman area; therefore environmental impact are not considered in this research.

The effects of Kanban in software development teams : a study of the implementation at Sandvik

Ericsson, Robin, Granlöf, Anna January 2011 (has links)
In software development organizations there is sometimes a need for change. In order to meet continuously increasing demands from their customers, Sandvik IT Services- SITS, at Sandvik in Sweden, required improving the way they worked with software development. Due to issues like a lot of work in progress and lot of simultaneous tasks for individuals in the teams that caused stress, it was almost impossible to address the question of working with improvements. In order to enable the improvement process Kanban was introduced in the software development teams. Kanban for software development is a change method created by David J. Anderson. The purpose of this thesis is twofold. One part is to assess what effects Kanban has had on the software development teams. The other part is to make a documentation of the Kanban implementation process at SITS. The documentation has been made on the basis of both company internal resources and observations of the Kanban implementation process. The effects of Kanban have been researched with an interview survey to the teams that have gone through the Kick start of the Kanban process. The result of the thesis is also twofold. One part of the result is an extensive documentation of the implementation process of Kanban at SITS. The other part is an assessment of the effects that Kanban has had at SITS. The major effects have been that the teams are experiencing less stress, more focus on quality and better customer collaboration. It is also evident is that it takes time for some effects to evolve when implementing Kanban

Intressenter - intressanta eller ej? : En studie av intressentfokus i Sandviks årsredovisningar

Hinn, Elias, Sandqvist, Fredrik January 2016 (has links)

Sustainability report : The Perfect Example?

Larsson, Oscar January 2019 (has links)
Background: Sustainability reporting has grown stronger over the years. And 2017, a law was introduced concerning sustainability reporting. Before the law, the majority of large companies in Sweden developed sustainability report and there has been a change in the content of sustainability reports. Sandvik is a company that has been included in number of various sustainability indices over the years. But how did Sandvik develop such a good sustainability report and what is stakeholders and society’s role of the development. Purpose: This essay can help to deepen the knowledge of how an excellent company has developed and changed its sustainability report longitudinally for 11 years. Method: The study is based on a qualitative research method. The data collection is made by a template that is designed by GRI's frameworks and variables that are considered relevant in a research of sustainability reports. A person at Sandvik has been interviewed to gain a deeper understanding of Sandvik's sustainability report. The empirical data consists of a summary of the keywords in the templates and the interview. In the analysis, the empirics and the interview were set against theories and previous research Conclusion: The study results show that Sandvik's sustainability report has been developed over the years and that the results may indicate that Sandviks stakeholders and society have had an influence on Sandviks sustainability report.

/
This study is about female leaders and their conditions on the company Sandvik AB in Sandviken. Which types of women choose to be leaders, what background and qualities have they? I also examine if there is something that is stopping women from becoming leaders and also find out how the women on Sandvik think a good leader should act. My conclusion is that the women in the interview have been daddy’s girls in that sense that they often turn to their father instead of their mother, they are keen and care for their co-workers. The largest obstacle in women’s carrier is the family, since they can loose their job during maternity leave, and that men often chosen recruit other men of old habit instead of women.

Incidence and Remission of Female Urinary Incontinence at Midlife

Legendre, Guillaume 08 December 2016 (has links)
Objective: The main objective of this work was to evaluate the risk factors of incidence and remission of urinary incontinence (UI) in a cohort of women at midlife, taking into account the type of UI (Stress urinary incontinence - SUI – Urge urinary incontinence – IUU - and mixed urinary incontinence - IUM) and the severity of symptoms.Material and Methods: Data were obtained from the survey questionnaires "women and their health," the annual questionnaires cohort GAZEL and specific questionnaire "urinary problems" posed in 2000 and 2008. A Cox model was used between 1990 and 2008 from the data of the question "Have you trouble holding your urine? ". Logistic regression models were used between 2000 and 2008 from the issue validated UI "Over the last 12 months, did you have any involuntary loss of urine ? ".Results: In our population, the annual rate of incidence of UI was 5.5% and the annual rate of remission was 6.2%, confirming that the UI is a dynamic condition with possible periods of worsening and of improvement. These rates vary with the type of UI: between 2000 and 2008, incidence rates were 14.9% for SUI, 3.2% for UUI and 3.1% for the MUI. SUI is the most likely type to experience a possible remission of the UI compared to UUI and MUI. Factors associated with the occurrence of UI are social factors (high educational level), obstetrical (parity), hormonal (menopause), and factors in relation with physical or mental health status (weight gain, onset of depressive symptoms, impairment in health-related quality of life - energy dimension and social isolation dimension of NHP score). Complete remission is even less common as women gain in age and in weight. For each type of UI, the influence of risk factors seems different. Thus, educational level (baccalaureate), BMI (at baseline and during follow-up) and a depressive syndrome at baseline are associated with the onset of SUI. An antecedent of surgical procedure for UI is associated with the occurrence of UUI and MUI. Surgical correction of the UI during follow-up is, as expected, associated with remission of symptoms of SUI. By contrast, pelvic floor muscle training exercises and vaginal childbirth, are associated with persistence of symptoms of SUI. The vaginal delivery was also associated with the persistence of MUI. MUI and UUI are the more severe types of UI at baseline. Furthermore, the aggravation is more pronounced in case of UUI or MUI that for SUI. Aside from the type, the factors associated with worsening symptoms are a prior surgery for a UI (at baseline) and the onset of a depressive syndrome. A worsening of UI is negatively associated with alcohol consumption at baseline and incontinence surgery during the study period. The role of social factors, such as the baccalaureate for example, is associated with the appearance of a slight UI, while obstetric factors such as a vaginal childbirth is associated with the appearance of a severe UI.Conclusion: The UI is a dynamic condition with possible periods of worsening and of partial or total improvement. The analysis of risk factors associated with the UI must incorporate a differentiation of the type and severity. Data on the epidemiology of UI in women between 45 and 60 years are still too few. Other longitudinal studies including a larger number of women are essential to confirm our results and to better counselling women with UI symptoms.
