Westin Kornblad, Birgitta, Larm, Marita January 2009 (has links)
One of the most important tasks of school is to teach all children to read. The aim of thisstudy is to elucidate and to analyze the statements and arguments, of the pedagogues, concerning meeting with children with identified language disorder. We want to spotwhat is said to be of significance in order to stimulate these students' readingdevelopment in the first to the third grade. In order to find answers, to the questions ofthe issues, we have used a qualitative method with unstructured interviews. In the studyfive pedagogues were interviewed, all of them with experience of working with studentswith language disorder. The result shows that the opinion of the respondents, aboutwhat is of significance in order to stimulate the reading development of these students isthe relationship to the student, to meet on the level of the student, organizationflexibility, amount experience, external help and parent collaboration. With support ofschedules the student’s individual reading development can be followed and the workaccordingly organized by the pedagogues. The difficulties influence their learningthrough the years and primary their reading development. Therefore, the strength of thestudent and the using of the five senses must be taken to heart in the education, in orderto better incorporate reading. Of great importance for reading development, of studentswith language disorder, is tailored, structured and joyful stimulus of the language, inways of variation and also the student’s motivation. Fundamental, as the pedagoguesstress in the statements, is the need of information before meeting with these students, the importance of linguistic awareness and the part taking of the parents.

Upplevelser av specialpedagogik : Två pojkars livsberättelser om skolan / Experiences of special needs education : The life-histories of two boys in school

Dalsman, Ingalill January 2007 (has links)
The aim of this essay is to get an insight into pupils experiences of special needs education by life-histories. It´s an application of the life-history method and the main focus is pupils way to understand their schoolsituation and learning, related to environment and grouping. The theoretical frame of the study is a socialconstructionist approach, that means, that the reality, knowledge and learning comes out of social co-operation. The essay is based on an empirical study of two pupils stories of their schooling. The pupils are both in the seventh grade and have had varying kinds of special needs education during their schooling. The study connects with research findings among inter alia: inclusive schools, pupils experiences, the parts of the pedagogues and the parents opinions. Besides reflections about research findings and empiric the discussion in the essay includes five themes, that the study came to the conclusion was important for pupils schooling: motivation, tiredness, loneliness, participation and the need of peace and quiet. The specific of the study is the stories of the pupils and from this point of view the attention paid to special needs education.

Medveten lärare? : Om självreflektion i undervisning / Conscious teacher : About self-reflection in teaching

Palm, Katarina January 2008 (has links)
In this paper I have examined how aware teachers are of their influence on pupils development. The method I´ve used are interviews with three teachers and one pupil each about Musicality - how do the teachers and pupils look at the concept musicality generally and personally? Influence I- do the teachers believe that their thinking about musicality influence the pupils self-confidence and development? Influence II- do the teachers think that other pedagogues have influenced them in their teaching and thinking? My main results show that both the teachers and the pupils have similar apprehensions as their teachers, which points towards that influence can exist. The basis is however too limited to make any extensive generalizations. The conclusion of the paper is that we have to be aware of how we influence our pupils. They carry this ”knowledge”, whether it is positive or negative, all their life.

Utvecklingsarbete med inriktning på gruppsamverkan

Room, Sören January 2013 (has links)
The idea to create authentic learning situations where students are highly integrated made me want to try to develop a new method in the course Restaurant and Catering B MAKU 1208 (another field practicing cuisine). In my quest to do just the practical part as rewarding, stimulating and efficient as possible for the student, I planned for a training model with   focus on group interaction. The implementation of the model for learning was to strengthen students confidence both in themselves and in each other, stimulated to greater cooperation and it has also provided an incentive to the student's own development but not least, a growing self-confidence for many students. Several have also had an increased sense of knowing something, to have something to contribute and that their labour input actually was needed. While highlighting that further education to seek knowledge strengthens the individual's skills and consolidates and increases deeper knowledge in the professional field. In conclusion, training should be done in both individual and group basis for optimal learning process.

Growing through drama : A study on the importance of drama as a teaching-method with the purpose of strengthening the self-esteem and self-confidence of children.

Bergh, Anna January 2011 (has links)
This essay is built upon the subject of drama. Its purpose was to examine if drama was a good and important educational method to/for children, and if drama is enhancing childrens self-esteem and self-confidence. By reviewing the results from literature and interviews, my intention was to compare the results, in order to find out what the views of the literature and respondents on drama was. I used qualitative interviewing, to find out what the teachers had to say about drama, and I used literature that was relevant to the purpose of the essay. I took a deeper look at the meaning of educational drama and pedagogical drama was, and also the meaning of self-esteem and self-confidence, in order to connect it with the results from the literature and the interviews.   After studying the literature and the interviews, I could see coherence, and therefore compile a result.  Both literature and the interviewed teachers considers drama to be a good and important method within the educational school and that drama positively has got a strengthening effect on childrens self-esteem and self-confidence. However, it was also clear, that in order to use drama as a method to enhance and strengthen childrens self-esteem and self-confidence, one would need to use the method for a long period of time.

Maechel, Gustaf January 2010 (has links)

The Impact of Personality Traits on Compromise and Attraction Effects

HUANG, YEN-HSIN 09 July 2012 (has links)
In order to meet our needs, consumer always believe that the more wild of selection, the better to choose the best of us. One such assumption is the regularity principle, which asserts that the addition of a new option to the choice set should not increase the probability of choosing any of the original options (Luce 1977). Clearly, both the attraction and compromise effects reflect an increase in the share of the target option after adding a third option. It implies that a new option added to a given set should take shares from existing options in proportion to their original shares. In fact, not all of the consumers react to these "third option" in the same level, because of the different personality traits , everyone have different thoughts even they get the same message. So, we want to know the impact of personality traits on compromise and attraction effects, and the intensity of those effects. We choose ¡§self-confidence¡¨, ¡§need for cognition¡¨, ¡§need for uniqueness¡¨, ¡§locus of control¡¨, and ¡§self-monitoring¡¨ to test the compromise and attraction effects, and we found that people with ¡§low need for uniqueness¡¨ had the strongest compromise effect; and with ¡§high need for cognition¡¨ had the strongest attraction effect. In addition, ¡§high self-confidence¡¨, ¡§high need for cognition¡¨, ¡§high need for uniqueness¡¨, and ¡§low self-monitoring¡¨ groups only exist attraction effect but compromise effect; ¡§low self-confidence¡¨, ¡§low need for cognition¡¨, ¡§low need for uniqueness¡¨ and ¡§high self-monitoring¡¨ groups react not only on attraction effect, but on compromise effect.

Effects of StrengthsQuest on Community Congregations at Bandina Christian Youth Camp in Texas

Bassham, Clay R. 2009 August 1900 (has links)
A quantitative research study was conducted with teenagers attending Bandina Christian Youth Camp for one week in the summer of 2008. Students were divided into two groups; a control group and an intervention group. All participants were given a Self- Reflective Survey immediately prior to and following the week of summer camp. In addition to the pre- and post- Self-Reflective Surveys, the intervention group was required to complete Gallup's StrengthsQuest assessment (to determine his/her five greatest strengths) and e-mail those findings to this researcher before the first camp session. Once at camp, the intervention group participated in a five day Faith Based Strengths Training class one hour a day. The intervention group recognized and identified all 34 strengths, learned the uniqueness of his/her top five strengths, identified and related to famous individuals and their strengths and explored optimal career fields that best correlated to the participants' top five strengths. Strengths Training proved to be an effective tool in changing the intervention group's self confidence, sense of direction and his or her personal desire to learn more about Strengths collectively with a .03 p at an alpha level of .05. Youth based national organizations such as Boys & Girls Club, Boys Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and others could greatly enhance their programs by incorporating Strengths Training into their curriculum, as Strengths Training builds on the development of core values, positive self image and character development that all of these national organizations strive to provide the youth of today. The summer camp experience offers a distinct opportunity for learning and exploration. This unique educational atmosphere sets up a positive cognitive environment where youth are typically more receptive to learning new concepts and ideas. The intervention group outcomes for this quantitative research study resulted in a positive outcome with only five hours of training. This infers a positive impact to not only the Y generation, but future generations to come and raises the need for more research in how these youth based national organizations can not only implement Strengths Training into their existing programs but network Strengths Training.
