Ramos, Daniela Osvald 29 March 2011 (has links)
This thesis is a theoretical study on how the format structures the digital languages, which are written with the informatics sign. We used the theoretical tools of the Semiotics of Culture to explore this hypothesis with the digital text of journalistic information. The notion of design is central to the comprehension of our arguments, in the sense that the design is what makes the operation of digital writing possible. This is due to its ability to assign models to the different sort of codes involved in the informatic processing of synthesis. We have the prospect that the Database Digital Journalism (DBDJ) is a text of culture that is updated having as principles the numerical representation, the modularity, the automatization, the variability and the transcoding. Its limits are the bits or numbers. We also discuss the notion of delimitation of the journalistic text, considered necessary in times of doubt about the field. We do a rescue on the importance of the concept of format to the field of journalism and we support that digital narratives, developed with the digital languages, are presented to us as formats. In order to appropriate the theory and apply the concepts in practice, we suggest two sources for the generation of journalistic formats. Such writing condition generates new conditions for teaching practices and the survival of journalism. Finally, we aim in this research a structural, not circumstantial, view about the languages, the narratives and the digital writing.

This argumentative text is to analyze which strategies used by the news paper Zero Hora, Pioneiro and Diário de Santa Maria to see the sense of mourning in the news photographs of the crash of TAM Flight 3054, which took place in July 2007. To this end, the dissertation is guided in the recent development of the semiotics of culture - which says that death is foundational to all human cultures - but always guided by the theories of journalism (field to study of this dissertation). The methodology relies on analysis of texts and statements of photojournalism photojournalists who participated in this coverage, which focused on the human dramas facing death. Thus, ritualized the event, institutionalizing the mourning in the three forms of the gauchos RBS through their utterances.

Dossiê Walter Freitas: comunicação, arte e cultura na Amazônia

Lima, Marlise Borges de 11 November 2013 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-26T18:13:41Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Marlise Borges de Lima.pdf: 102098121 bytes, checksum: bba71c9cfe0001c5355d3fc571f5d968 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2013-11-11 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / This thesis aims mainly to bring major contributions to the study of Brazilian and Amazon culture through the processes of creation and mediation of art and communication, which are in the cultural-artistic work of Walter Freitas, who is a writer, playwright, musician and composer of Pará. It seeks to understand the extent of his art: how much it can do to resonate amazonidade and the fundamental knowledge of this culture and also activate a certain collective memory, since the translation of the Amazon culture present in the artistic production of this author is full of facts that relate to a whole society. Freitas performs thus a work of art, culture and communication that reaches universal dimensions. In music, theater or literature, he builds and rebuilds poetics that fulfill their role as an alternative way. In the language of sound he creates a new musical aesthetic as inserts rhythms, irregular beats, complex harmonic and melodic structures and masterfully vocalizes the indigenous and African subdialects. In scenic language he writes in verse and always tries to work the issue of theater from an experimental perspective. He approaches social, political and cultural themes (in poetic form), showing always a very rich reflection material about the traditions in the Amazon. The themes of migration of riparian peoples, forest preservation and other references that bring up issues related to the universal human condition, even from elements of this private culture are also present. In literature, Freitas appropriates 'physically' and enhances the popular language. He brings back expressions into disuse, adds new terms to the Indian and African dialects (existing) and reaches the refinement of inaugurating a new language when creating graphic signs (inverted accents, apostrophes at the beginning, middle and end of words) to mean peculiarities of pronunciations, sonorities, suppression of letters and phonemes. Thus, his verb-visual-sound artworks from the first to the last syllable, note and to scene constitute sequences split into kaleidoscope, which through the tiles finally materialize the structure of a unit . To approach the concepts of cultural translation and mediation in art/communication this thesis is based on the Semiotics of Culture, through the semioticists Yuri Lotman, Mikhail Bakhtin, and Paul Zumthor among others. In the territories of communication and culture it is based on the theories of Jesus Martin Barbero, Serge Gruzinski, Boaventura de Souza Santos and other authors who think of Brazil and Latin America as places of diverse elements multi-junctures and concerning about notions of racial mixing, popular culture, orality and memory on the studies of Amalio Pinheiro and Jerusa Pires Ferreira / Esta tese tem como objetivo principal trazer contribuições aos estudos de cultura brasileira e amazônica, através dos processos de criação e mediação em arte e comunicação, que estão no trabalho artístico-cultural de Walter Freitas, escritor, dramaturgo, músico e compositor paraense.

Coca, Adriana Pierre January 2017 (has links)
This investigation reflects on the ruptures of meanings in the contemporary Brazilian teledramaturgy based on the processes of translation, creation, transcreation, explosion and obtuse meaning and, in its course, configured the notion of telerrecreation. The main theoretical basis of this study is the semiotics of culture, with the arguments anchored in concepts explained by Lotman (1978, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2004, 2005), but also contribute to the research other authors such as Bakhtin (1998, 2005, 2010), Barthes (2009), Campos (2013a; 2013b); Machado A. (2011); Machado I (2003). The objective of the study is to investigate the meanings reconfiguration processes that are constituted at the level of the codes, formats and language of serial fiction, and to reach it the ruptures of meanings are problematized in the telefiction of Brazilian open TV. The methodology has a cartographic inspiration, a proposal by Deleuze and Guattari (1995) that suggests the constitution of a map from rhizomes, with points of intensities, distinct lines and diverse connections that move and trace a course that is never finalized. In the search for this unfinished map, our look transits through the work of the author and audiovisual director Luiz Fernando Carvalho, with more acuity by the microseries Hoje é dia de Maria (2005) - in two seasons -, A pedra do reino (2007) and Capitu (2008), and the series Afinal, o que querem as mulheres? (2010). All are TV Globo productions that have the final text and direction signed by Carvalho and that we believe offer both regularities and irregularities, unpredictability and discontinuities in their texts. Lotman (2003) says that language assumes a basic communicative function in providing information, but its functions are also the creative and the mnemonic – the last being linked to the memory of culture. In this conception, the notion of text is ample, the texts weave the languages and are configured like a complex device that is composed of several codes, besides being generators of meanings. As Lotman (2003), we understand that television productions are complex communicative texts that organize texts within texts, constituting an intricate plot, and in this way can be creative, in addition to having the informative and mnemonic functions. The thesis proposed by this research, which is the notion of telerrecation, contemplates texts that present ruptures of meanings, operate on the creative function of language and are imbued with a critique of language itself, with the potential to trigger the reorganization of codes. From this perspective telerrecation is configured as a way to dynamize the television language. Therefore, our search was guided in the direction of these processes, which break with the canonical codes structuring the Brazilian telefiction and through these ruptures of meanings are able to reconfigure it. In this course, we conclude that the LFC texts operate on regularities and irregularities, and transgressions overlap the traditions in most of their productions, creating dialects of the memory of theater and, even though these works are exhibited in the open TV, the context that welcomes them does not eliminate the high degree of creativity that they present, because when there is a process of telerrecation there is, yes, possibility of reconfiguration of the formats and with that, also the offer of new possibilities to see the world.

Pereira, Maurício Rodrigues January 2018 (has links)
This research aims to understand the ruptures of meanings on the bodies expressed in contemporary fashion photographs. Our look is set for contemporaneity, in images that we believe to be under the No Limits juncture, a moment of fashion photography that has flourished since the 90s and which puts in vogue the multiplication of styles and languages exercised in these images. Theoretically we adopt the perspective of the Semiotics of Culture (SC) towards fashion, proposing a look that sees this fashion as a modeling system that operates codes and dynamics of culture. In addition, we develop concepts related to the photographic language and, in turn, of fashion photography, exposing its peculiarities and techniques that engender the texts analyzed by us. Still from a theoretical perspective, we focus on the body in a sociological and cultural way to enter into the specificities of the bodies engaged in fashion and consecutively in fashion photography, delineating then, regularities and standardizations that help us to think the direction of the ruptures of senses. As a methodological course in the examination and apprehension of the senses, we operate these processes by proposing a trajectory of examination and interpretation of the empirical object, considering the identification of unpredictability, irregularities and discontinuities in textual constructions of contemporary fashion photographs The process of observation starts from theoretical drives of SC elements, as well as from photographic language, fashion and the body. Complementarily we trigger an interpretative scheme of these observations inspired by different levels of meanings that overlap the images. The fashion images of No Limits and the bodies expressed in them configure texts and narratives permeated by ruptures, fissures, displacements in relation to the fashion photography itself that is always in movement. We observe, therefore, these corporalities of the fashion, in the sense of positioning them beyond the limits, of carrying in itself the excess, of overcoming the parameters of the incursion that fashion establishes.

Galan, Douglas Vinícius 26 September 2013 (has links)
This dissertation is a theoretical study on the relationship between the languages of the press and the digital medium. The hypothesis that the daily suffers modeling from cultural texts coming from the Internet drives the entire script investigations. The sense of modelizations structures, as well as other concepts that are anchored in research comes from semiotics theory of culture or russian semiotics, born in the School of Tartu, Estonia. With this contribution we hope to understand how culture remakes languages and recode the system of press operating semioses and creating new texts in this area. The research adopts the main conceptual terms set forged in the reflections of the group of russian intellectuals, but extends their analyzes from other postulates and contributions, such as dialogism, discourse and concepts pertaining to the field of journalism and new media. Drawing on quantitative resources from a sample of six brazilian newspapers of national expression this study investigates the possibilities of modeling, especially in the exercise of the role of the hyperlink as a sign. With this determination of the digital language int the press, the study examines the expansion of the field of signification that the Internet brings about cultural systems of our time, establishing themselves as part of a mind of culture working from a diagram thought. Such views do not contain the analysis of the results obtained, but expands the vision for new problems.

A modelização na construção estética do sistema transmídia The Walking Dead / -

Frederico, Gisele 19 October 2018 (has links)
The development of new technologies transformed society\'s material culture by the end of the 20th century. In the midst of these changes, information has become a widely marketed product. In this context, digital convergence emerged as a new communication, artistic and distribution paradigm. Transmedia storytelling, a result of digital convergence, explores different platforms and medias, which are interrelated and form a web where user-spectator can navigate through broad narrative universes. Thus, the objective of this work is to analyze the construction of the aesthetic identity in The Walking Dead through a semiotic approach. Firstly, we compare the concept of semiosphere, developed by Iuri Lotman, with the concept of transmedia in order to demonstrate that both behave as spaces where different languages are in semiosis. Then, we analyze how the translation between symbolic language of comics - media that started the narrative universe of The Walking Dead - and television occurred. For this, we build our analysis on Julio Plaza, Haroldo de Campos, Roman Jakobson and Décio Pignatari\'s theories. Our goal is to identify semiotic texts that are modeled throughout the transmedia universe, building their aesthetic identity. The modeling elements are identified from the cinematographic syntax, based on the studies of Nöel Burch, Gilles Deleuze, Ismail Xavier, among others. The narrative universe of The Walking Dead is explored through comics, books, television series, web series, podcasts, second screen and expanded reality applications, video games, etc. Because it is a very broad media web, we have chosen to analyze, in addition to the comics and television series, The Walking Dead web series and video games, from Telltale Games and Terminal Reality. We intend to demonstrate that discussions about transmedia storytelling go far beyond commercial distribution strategies or narrative aspects. We plan to investigate the development of its aesthetic identity and to propose that it is not random, but it is defined by the modeling of semiotic texts.
