Disclosure of CSA and Social Relationship Quality Among College Students

Research on traumatic experiences has focused on disclosure to social networks. Among these findings, disclosure was lower for individuals at risk for PTSD than the general population, and the amount of disclosure depended on the person to whom the individual disclosed. Social support can be related to fewer psychological problems such as PTSD. In this way the understanding of disclosure, and its predictors and consequences become especially relevant. This current study examines disclosure of Childhood Sexual Assault (CSA) experiences among college students and perceived quality of their current relationships (i.e., whether there is someone they can confide in about personal problems or feelings without holding back). As disclosures occur primarily to create and maintain social bonds (Fivush, Bohanek,Robertson, & Duke; 2004), disclosure may lead to greater intimacy. Or, individuals may disclose because they already have quality relationships. Participants were identified from a sample of 654 college students attending a Southeastern university and who completed an online survey. From this sample 44 (6.73%) had experienced CSA (Finkelhor). Of these, 18 had disclosed their experiences, and 39 indicated having a confiding relationship with someone in their lives. Other findings indicated that although 75% of those without a confiding relationship were from the group that had not disclosed, disclosure may not directly relate to the level of quality of relationship (as defined by confiding). Specifically, of those who did not disclose, the large majority (88.5%) indicated having a confiding relationship. And, of those who had at least one confiding relationship, only 41 percent had disclosed their CSA. Future research may look at other indicators of quality in relationships and how they relate to disclosure. Moreover, future studies might explore how disclosure does or does not affect the relationship quality with specific social network members.

The core of the issue is ¡uwhy consumer into the Starbucks Coffee Chain stores¡v,we expand the consumer¡¦s experience ¡Bfeeling and their viewpoint to understand consumption content. Besides, we distinction the consumer type to show the consumption phenomena, and search the ¡uglobal-local¡vpresent meaning in the sociology. We finding that consumers not only attempt to build the social interaction in their everyday life, but also the commodity and human social relationships, through the frame analysis¡]including the expression¡Bpresentation¡Bimagination¡^, the consumers experience a way of life. On the other hand, they also make display or flaunt. The Starbucks Coffee Shop using the brand in the globalization development in the world to build the one¡¦s own fix position. So that, we may infer people¡¦s consumption identification has been formatted. According to the investigation of consumers at branch stores of Starbucks coffee chain stores with 3 branch stores in kaohsiung city, we finding the main consumers is female, single, 21~30 age, the education level is university, profession administrative staff, income between the $3,0001~$5,0001.We conjecture that female have the higher consumption identification than male. Deserve to be mentioned that consumers invisible or sedulously is imitated the city of Taipei to build the consumption identification effect in their consumption activities in the Starbucks coffee chain stores in kaohsiung city, we have merit to the objective or the impartial discourse in the field of the consumption research in the future.

Le rôle des liens sociaux et de la confiance sur le financement bancaire des PME : une étude exploratoire / Social ties, trust and bank financing of SMEs : an exploratory study

Dans une perspective d’étude du financement bancaire des PME, nous proposons un examen de la relation bancaire dans le contexte français caractérisé par une culture bancaire développée et des évolutions récentes très marquées, qui ne peuvent être sans conséquence sur le comportement financier des entreprises. L’attention est portée sur un élément central, à savoir les interactions sociales entre le banquier et le chef d’entreprise. Ces interactions permettent l’échange d’informations soft, condition nécessaire à l’instauration d’un climat de confiance et, donc, à l’évaluation de la qualité des projets pour faciliter leur financement par la suite. Sur le plan théorique, notre analyse s’inscrit dans la continuité des études portant sur les difficultés de financement des PME. Après avoir souligné l’insuffisance des deux approches traditionnelles que constituent l’approche transactionnelle (standardisée) et l’approche relationnelle (relation de long terme), nous mobilisons la théorie de l’encastrement social et le concept de la confiance pour mieux appréhender la relation d’emprunt. Sur le plan méthodologique, l’étude consiste en une enquête exploratoire menée auprès d’un échantillon composé de banquiers et de chef d’entreprises. L’enjeu est de montrer la pertinence du triptyque -encastrement social, confiance, spécificités des PME-, en tant que référentiel théorique à la problématique du processus de financement bancaire. / In the French context, banks play an essential role in financing firms, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs) since they have more difficulties accessing equity capital markets. The process used by banks to decide whether and how much to lend relies on different lending technologies and banks usually tend to use more than one technology at a time (Berger and Udell, 2006). Among the various lending technologies, relationship lending has a peculiar role. However, research on relationships lending pays only marginal attention to the role of social ties and trust on financing conditions for SMEs. Social relationships literature suggests that the more commercial transactions between a firm and the bank it borrows from are embedded in social attachments, the more expectations of trust and reciprocity shape transacting. Thereby, it would promote governance benefits and transfers of soft information (Uzzi, 1999). Thus, these relationships can play an Important role in reducing agency problems, moral hazard, adverse selection and transaction costs as well as the costs of monitoring and control. The present exploratory study is an attempt to fill this gap by investigating how social interaction affects the terms of loan financing for SMEs (credit access, interest rate, guarantees, defaults). It is based on a survey of bank lending managers and entrepreneurs.

The Governance Change of Organization Value Chain: Cases for PC, Semiconductor and TFT-LCD Industries in Taiwan

From the perspective of contingency theory, this study investigates the governance change of the organization value chain between upstream and downstream firms in three most important high-tech industries in Taiwan: PC, semiconductor, and TFT-LCD. Many scholars and experts have thoroughly studied governances of value chains. Their findings are valuable to the competitiveness of organizations and industries. However, most of them are focused on the Western industries. Very few studies are based on Taiwanese industries. Besides, most of these researches on the characteristics of Taiwanese organizations and industries emphasize the flexible production collaborative networks and the quick responses of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Even fewer studies have recognized that Taiwanese high-tech industries have evolved into large integrated business groups. This study complements previous literature from a different perspective. Employing case research method, this research has interviewed 20 experts that are familiar with the operation of these three high-tech electronic industries. It is found that all PC, IC and TFT-LCD industries adopted network models at the emerging stage. When these industries getting matured, however, the IC industry adopted the market model, while the PC and TFT-LCD industries moved to hierarchy models. Using Boolean method, this study has reached four major findings for Taiwan¡¦s high-tech industries: 1. The industries¡¦ governance of organization value chain moved toward the personal network model at the emerging stage due to technology uncertainties, relatively high profitability and not enough capital munificence. 2. The industries¡¦ governance of organization value chain moved toward the impersonal network model at the emerging stage due to technology uncertainties, low complexity of technology, relatively high profitability, and enough capital munificence. 3. The industries¡¦ governance of organization value chain moved toward the market model at the mature stage due to technology certainties, enough capital munificence, high complexity of technology and relatively high profitability. 4. The industries¡¦ governance of organization value chain moved toward the hierarchy model at the mature stage due to technology certainties, enough capital munificence, low complexity of technology and relatively low profitability. In the concluding chapter, this thesis presents management implications and future researches based on this study.

Socialinės rizikos šeima - tai šeima, kuri neatitinka visuomenės nustatytų normų, patiria sunkumų, kurių nepajėgia pati išspręsti. Socialinės rizikos šeimose yra sutrikę santykiai tarp šeimos narių, dažnai vyrauja girtavimas, smurtas, vaikų nepriežiūra. Tokia šeima yra “už visuomenės ribų”, patiria socialinę atskirtį. Šeima yra artimiausia aplinka, kurioje žmogus turėtų jaustis saugus, palaikyti teigiamus ryšius su kitais šeimos nariais, tačiau socialinės rizikos šeimose ir už jos ribų ryšiai dažnai būna sutrikę, vyrauja disfunkciniai santykiai. Moterų, priskiriamų socialinės rizikos šeimoms, socialinių ryšių patirties tyrimu siekiama padėti geriau suprasti tiriamąjį reiškinį, atskleisti socialinių ryšių svarbą, pastebėti socialinės pagalbos galimybes šeimos aplinkoje. Tyrimo tikslas – atskleisti socialinės rizikos šeimų socialinius ryšius feministiniu požiūriu. Tyrimo klausimas: kokie socialiniai ryšiai vyrauja socialinės rizikos šeimose? 在MANET中基於社群關係導向之傳輸機制研究 / A social relationship based transmission scheme in MANET

資訊世代的來臨,手機、筆記型電腦、iPod、iPad不勝枚舉的手持行動裝置充斥在我們的生活周遭。這些裝置上都擁有一種以上的無線網路介面,例如:紅外線、藍芽、WiFi,及行動網路介面等。由於手持裝置的盛行,構成行動隨意網路(Mobile Ad Hoc Network)的傳輸空間越來越普遍,伴隨而來的問題如節點可能任意移動,拓樸不斷改變等,造成傳輸中斷。而在有網路的環境下如何從較信任的人(節點)獲取較可信任的資訊,將是重要的議題。因此本論文導入目前炙手可熱與我們生活密不可分的社群網路(social network),利用社會網路分析(social network analysis)將人與人之間關係數據化,做為轉傳依據。我們提出Ego-Centric Social Network Routing中繼節點 (relay node) 選擇的策略,簡稱ECSNR。除了利用社會網路分析的方法外也加入候選清單,使負載過重的節點直接由清單中之候選節點協助轉傳、推薦清單,讓路由中繼的位置更靠近負載過重之節點,加速訊息的傳遞,也可藉由緊密度高且較可信任之節點協助傳送。另外當訊息無法藉由社會網路輔助(social networking aided)傳輸時,便會利用興趣導向(interest-based)傳輸,依照節點興趣相似性判別興趣區間,將訊息傳遞出去。最後,由實驗模擬結果得知,當網路節點數量增加時,封包送達率能有7.4%~15.8%的改善。End to end delay有10%~15.2%的改善;control overhead雖然較遜色,但依然平均控制在9.4%內。Average hop count平均減少1.7 個hops數。網路移動速度比較的實驗中,封包送達率能有8%~24.2%的改善;control overhead雖然較遜色,但依然平均控制在8.8%內。End to end delay有約4.7%~15.2%的改善;average hop count平均減少2.4個hops數。 / With the coming of information era, our lives have been filled with varied mobile devices, such as cell phones, notebooks, iPods, and iPads. All these devices are equipped with more than one wireless network interface, including Infrared, Bluetooth, WiFi, mobile network interface etc. Due to the popularity of mobile devices, Mobile Ad Hoc Networks have been more widespread than ever. However, movable nodes and the constantly changing topology could cause transmission interruption. Therefore, “how to obtain trustworthy information from trusty nodes” is a significant issue. This thesis geared toward the social network which is inseparable from our lives at this moment. In this thesis, social network analysis is employed, and the relationship data is used as the base of relay. We propose a relay-node selection strategy of Ego-Centric Social Network Routing (ECSNR), and apply the method of using candidate list. All these can be used to speed up the transmission process. Because the candidate nodes are the closest ones to the overloaded nodes, the relay process can be more efficient and speedy. The transmission can also be done through the stable and trustworthy nodes. When a message can not be transmitted through the social network aided nodes, the interest based nodes can help to transmit according to the interest similarity. The results of experiment simulations show that along with the increase of network nodes, the packet delivery ratio can be improved by 7.4% ~ 15.8%. The end to end delay can be improved by 10% ~ 15.2%, and the average control overhead is within 9.4%. The average hop count can be reduced by 1.7 hops. Given the nodes are moving, the packet delivery ratio can be improved by 8%~24.2%, and the average control overhead is within 8.8%. The end to end delay can be improved by 4.7% ~ 15.2%, and the average hop count can be reduced by 2.4 hops.

A pesquisa, de natureza qualitativa, guiou-se por um olhar sociológico e antropológico relacional e interpretativo. Nesse trabalho assumo a perspectiva interpretativista da realidade nos moldes de Geertz. Nesse sentido, deixo claro que mais do que apresentar uma realidade dada a todos os observadores independente de seus valores, apresento uma versão que deve muito à interação com meus entrevistados em Tiradentes e no distrito de Vitoriano Veloso, o “Bichinho”. A estratégia metodológica posta em prática nessa pesquisa lançou mão da revisão bibliográfica, assim como a observação participante, a entrevista semiestruturada e conversas informais. O uso do gravador, da câmera fotográfica e de um diário de campo também constituíram técnicas importantes à apreensão de informações valiosas nem sempre expressas discursivamente pelos entrevistados. Teoricamente a tese se vale de contribuições que permitiram refletir sobre a noção de consumo bem como suas práticas por parte dos consumidores e produtores de souvenirs para além das perspectivas centradas no sujeito racional. A noção de dádiva e de fato social total, central à reflexão de Marcel Mauss, orientou em grande parte a apreensão da realidade ao longo de minha estadia como pesquisadora em Tiradentes. Minha interpretação das interpretações construídas a partir da interação com meus entrevistados aponta, dentre outras coisas, para um campo ambíguo e plural de significados. Em grande parte acredito que os diferentes pertencimentos dos sujeitos em relação à estrutura social sejam cruciais para dar conta dessa variação. Ao variar a inserção do sujeito em um determinado grupo social mudam também os significados associados aos souvenirs assim como a outros objetos, como aqueles classificados como artesanato. A teoria da dádiva de Mauss responde a algumas das questões postas por mim. Contudo, percebi que ela não consegue dar conta da ampla gama de sentidos atribuídos pelos atores, notadamente aqueles inseridos em contextos mais individualistas. A compreensão do fenômeno do consumo de souvenirs em Tiradentes por turistas permite ir além das ideias mais simples de um sujeito ávido por consumir o que encontra nas localidades turísticas, sendo um ato de classificação e de ordenamento da realidade. Novas questões surgiram ao final dessa pesquisa, ensejando continuidades a partir de um olhar amadurecido sobre o fenômeno turístico e o consumo. / This present thesis has as objective to investigate the significance attributed to the production and consumption of souvenirs in the city of Tiradentes- MG keeping in view the theory of the gift by Marcel Mauss. The research, in qualitative nature, was guided by a sociological view and a relational and interpretative anthropological view. In this work, I assume the interpretive perspective from the reality of the ideas of Geertz: In this way, I make it clear that more than presenting a reality given to all observers independent of their values, I present a version that owes much to the interaction with those interviewed in Tiradentes and in the district of Vitoriano Veloso, the “Bichinho”. The methodological strategy put into practice in this research utilized bibliographical revision, as well as participant observation, the semistructured interview and informal conversations. The use of a recorder, photographic camera, and a field diary constituted important techniques in the apprehension of valuable information, not always expressed discursively by those interviewed. Theoretically the thesis is valued by contributions that permit reflection about the idea of consumption as well as the practices of the consumers and producers of souvenirs, beyond the perspectives centered on the rational subject. The notion of the gift and total social fact, central to the thoughts of Marcel Mauss, guided in great part the apprehension of the reality throughout my stay as a researcher in Tiradentes. My interpretation of the interpretations built from interaction with those I interviewed point, among other things, to an ambiguous field and many meanings. In great part I believe that the different affiliations of the subjects in relation to the social structure are crucial in accounting for this variation. Varying the insertion of the subject in a determined social group also changes the associated significance of the souvenirs, in addition to other objects, such as those classified as craft-work. The theory of the gift by Mauss answers some of my questions. However, I recognized that it cannot account for the wide range of meanings attributed by the actors, notably those inserted in more individualized contexts. The understanding of the phenomenon of the consumption of souvenirs in Tiradentes by tourists permits going beyond the most simple ideas of a greedy subject consuming what he finds in tourist locations, being an act of classification and reality planning. New questions arise at the end of this research, causing continuity from a mature look concerning the touristic phenomenon and consumption.

Social partners and momentary affect in the oldest-old: The presence of others benefits affect depending on who we are and who we are with.

yes / Links between social relationships and emotional well-being in old age are well documented, but little is known about daily life fluctuations in momentary affective experiences of the oldest-old while interacting with specific social partners. We examined associations between the presence of different types of social partners and moment-to-moment fluctuations in affect in the oldest-old, taking into account individual differences in gender, neuroticism, depressive symptoms, chronic health conditions, and loneliness. Participants (N = 74, M age = 88.7 years, range = 84–102 years, 68% women) provided self-reports concurrently on the presence of social partners and subjective affective states 6 times a day for each of 7 consecutive days (3,071 occasions, in total). Relative to being with other people, time spent alone was associated with lower positive affect in the oldest-old. Being with other family members and friends was associated with more positive affective experiences. Compared with men, women reported more negative affective experiences when they were with their spouses than when their spouses were not present. Individuals with more chronic health problems reported more negative affective experiences when they were with their spouses than not. Participants higher in neuroticism reported more positive affective experiences when they were with their friends, compared with times when their friends were not present. Finally, lonelier individuals reported more positive affective experiences when they were with their spouses than when they were not. These findings suggest that affective experience is a function of individual differences and the type of social partners oldest-old adults interact with in everyday life. We discuss how our findings can be generalized to oldest-olds of different marital statuses, taking into account the proportion of widows in our sample as well as measurement specifics.
