在影像中遊走:城市行銷觀點下的台北城市空間及其影像再現 / Roaming in images: Taipei city space and its cinematic representation from the perspective of city marketing

羅立芸, Lo, Lih Yun Unknown Date (has links)
In 2008, Taipei City Government showed a positive attitude towards film as a city marketing strategy by offering film subsidies and establishing the Taipei Film Commission. This research attempts to explore the cinematic city space under incentive policies to the wave of city marketing in accordance with globalization. The subsidized films would be subjects of study, analyzed by using literature review, textual analysis and semi-structural interviews as research methods. The result of the research shows that incentives made a great impact on the cinematic city space of Taipei and formed a new way of experiences. As a result of the policies of marketing Taipei, the cinematic city space of Taipei becomes Tourist-oriented as well as promotes unique images of Taipei. The interaction of city development and cinematic city space of Taipei interlace a changeable dynamic structure. The active support of Taipei Film Commission helps to make the cinematic city space of Taipei differently in shooting and publicity. Transnational co-production of film policies subsumes various points of view and heads start in city marketing overseas. Film as a tool of city marketing not only drives tourism benefits, but also realizes in experiencing real and cinematic city space at the same time.

A Study on the Management of Museum Shops and Cultural Products in Taiwanese Public Art Museums

Li, Tsai-ling 21 July 2012 (has links)
Recently, the management of museum shops has become a popular issue in museum sector. Many people think museum shops are an unique place in the museum, also a perfect place to buy gifts for other countries. The operation of museum shops is one of the emphasing areas and sets up many individual operating divisions, such as cultural goods developing divisions in the United States, United Kingdom and Northern Ireland. Today museum is not only for exhibition, but also become a place of collecting various resources to create more service to the public. New businesses such as museum shops has been developed by museums. This study attempts to discover the operation at mode of museum shops and the changellages of museum shops. The study used multiple-case studies as research method. Three cases are shops of public fine arts museums in Taiwan, Taipei Fine Arts Museum, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts and Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts. The methods of data collection include observation, documental analysis and interviews. The study uses triangulation to increase credibility and reliability. The major research questions are listed as follows. First, what are the operation and strategies of museum shops? Second, how to develop and design merchandises in museum shops? What is their considerations for the future? Five aspects of the research: operational principle, organization structure and human resource management, financial management, marketing, and the product design as well as the atmosphere of museum shops. The results indicated as follows: 1. The mission of museum shops and images of museum can coorspandant very well. 2. The structure of museum shops are established according to the Cooperatives Act. 3. Applying the cooperative Act on museum shops has its own advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are to increase the sense of participation to museum shops; the disadvantages are administrators¡¦ overlapping and overloading of workload. 4. The standard of selectring shop clerk is having good communication capability and love Arts. 5. The earned income is divided into four ways: provident fund, public welfare fund, museum fund and public revenue. The museum shops have limited funds on their own used. 6. The cultural goods that are designed and made by museum shops are limited. 7. The development of cultural goods should be noted intellectual property rights. 8. A good environment in museum shops stimulates consumption. 9. The marketing of the museum shops usually is with the large-scale exhibitions or blockbuster show, yet it seldom uses internet marketing. Suggestions are provided to the public museum shops, the government, and future research in Taiwan. 1. Museum should reconsider the connection between museum shops as well as cultural and creative industries. 2. Museums and museum shops should strengthen their branding, and set up the selction process of their culture products. The products in museums shops should include characteristics of each museum and various products. 3. Using electronical at media to enhance the explanation and education of cultural goods. 4. Applying internet marketing and event marketing. 5. The necessity of establishing transparent financial system. 6. Holding the competition of culture product design for students. 7. Brand alliance. The government could think the possibility of privatization and corporatization of public museum shops. Suggestions to the follow-up study will be that the European countries or neighboring countries such as Japan, South Korea¡¦s museum shops, or private museum shops can be studied.

A Comparison of Agonistic Behavior and Reconciliation in Free-ranging and Captive Formosan Macaques (Macaca cyclopis)

Wei, Shih-hui 12 September 2006 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to analyze and compare the agonistic behaviors and reconciliation in captive and free-ranging Formosan macaques (Macaca cyclopis). The dominance style of Formosan macaques was compared with long-tailed, rhesus and Japanese macaques. I have used scan, focal sampling and ad libitum on aggressions of adult macaques. I have recorded post-conflict (PC) focal samplings on victims and compared those with matched control (MC) focal samplings. Agonistic behaviors had significantly higher frequency in captive than in free-ranging Formosan macaques. The frequencies of hostile and submission were significantly higher in captive than in free-ranging Formosan macaques. The captive adult females of higher rank had higher frequency of threat and hostile, and lower frequency of submission. Threat was the most frequent aggression (52-72%) expressed by both the captive and free-ranging adult monkeys. The victims in captive and free-ranging Formosan macaques usually submitted immediately after aggression (82-89%). The proportion of counter aggression in captive and free-ranging Formosan macaques were relative low (9-16%). The aqerage conciliatory tendency for adult Formosan macaques was 14.3% to 19.6%. The affiliative contacts in PC and MC in captive and free-ranging Formosan macaques were striking that both preferred grooming. The Formosan macaques significantly reconciled more during PC than MC period both in captive and free-ranging conditions. In addition, both had significantly more attracted than dispersed PC-MC pairs. The conciliatory tendencies in captive and free-ranging Formosan macaques were similar regardless of kin and non-kin partners. This study indicated that Formosan macaques were close to the macaques of Fascicularis group. Therefore, Formosan macaques had a despotic dominance style as suggested by Phylogenetic hypotheses.

From associations to info-sociations : civic environmentalism and information communication technologies in three Asian tiger cities

Sadoway, David January 2013 (has links)
This multi-year, multi-city investigation seeks to examine how and why civic associations are employing information communication technologies (ICTs) in their work and the extent to which these uses are transforming urban ‘civic space.’ Rather than being passive non-state actors shaped by technologies in the ‘networked city,’ civic environmental associations are treated in this study as co-evolving ‘actor-networks’ that are both shaping and shaped by their ICT practices. This study systematically examines how ICT-linked tools or platforms are reconfiguring civic associations and civic space in the three ‘tiger city’ settings of Hong Kong, Singapore and Taipei. This investigation employs grounded theory, case study methods, and actor-network theory to examine the co-evolution of ICTs and civic environmental associations. The concept of info-sociations (ICT-associations) is employed in constructing a socio-technical model for analysis of the fast-evolving ICT practices of civic associations. Such an approach suggests that diverse forms of ICT-linked praxis—where civic ideals and knowledge are being put into practice—involves multimodal digital practices; alongside blended or multiplexed physical and virtual practices; and multiscalar practices. The info-sociational model compares ICT-linked organizational, participatory and spatial practices at the associational level by examining digitally-linked: internal and external organizational change; reconfigurations in the public sphere and cyberactivism; scalar transformations and associational alliance formations. Analyses of city-specific ‘civic space’ storylines; alongside a discussion of the problems and potentialities of ICT-linked practices also contributes to an integrated info-sociational model. An info-sociational approach therefore serves to examine transformations in knowledge, power and space as civic environmentalists employ ICTs. The info-sociational model supports an analysis of three pairs of age-distinct civic environmental associations in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taipei. These six cases (as units of analysis) were selected for their diverse civic environmental activities; their differences in age; and their variety of ICT-linked practices, including uses for: public deliberations, and mobilizing activism; networked alliance formations; identifying environmental and spatial issues in city regions; and creating alternative green media. Employing the info-sociational model in analyses of the six civic environmental associations led to the observations that: ‘externally-oriented’ ICT-linked practices were of greater importance than ‘internal practices’ amongst civic associations; that groups prioritized ‘digital green public sphere’ practices compared to ‘cyberactivism’; and these associations employed ICTs more frequently for ‘alliance-building’ than for ‘spatial transformations.’ Several of the cases illustrated how ICTs can enhance or augment existing alliances and potentially support new types of civic-cyber formations. By touching on questions of knowledge, power and space an info-sociational approach therefore can contribute to integrated explanations of how and why civic associations are using and (re)shaping ICTs in pursuit of their diverse aims for more livable and just cities. / published_or_final_version / Urban Planning and Design / Doctoral / Doctor of Philosophy

An analysis of geometry in the junior secondary school (grade 7-9) mathematics textbooks from England, Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei

Kwong, Ka-to, 鄺嘉圖 January 2013 (has links)
This dissertation is intented to explore the similarities and differences of pedagogical characteristics in geometry though analyzing the contents of the junior Secondary school (grade 7-9) mathematics textbooks of England, Hong Kong and Taipei. By studying the topic of “Relationships for angles at a point, angles on a line, vertically opposite angles, angles associated with a transversal cutting parallel lines and perpendicularity” of the textbooks, the textbooks of the three places have demonstrated how they organize the contents to achieve the various aims with different means and different emphasis. For English textbooks, their contents are characterized by using geometric intuition for verifying the properties of geometric objects and the theorems. On the contrary, for Taipei textbook, their contents are characterized by the extensive use of deductive reasoning and proof for verifying the properties of geometric objects and the theorems. Lastly, for Hong Kong textbooks, their contents are characterized by encouraging conjecturing through various explorative activities. For developing students’ cognitive thinking in geometry, the progress of developing students’ level of sophistication in deductive reasoning is depended upon their age for England while Hong Kong and Taipei do not. Process of visualization is commonly used in the three countries for enhancing the reasoning process and various apprehensions of geometric objects. On the other hand, Hong Kong and Taipei textbooks tend to apply more on the process of reasoning in the teaching activities while English textbooks apply more on the process of construction. / published_or_final_version / Education / Master / Master of Education

A Search For Common Pleasures: CURATING THE CITY

Helsel, Sand, n/a January 2009 (has links)
The project-based research questions how professionals working in the built environment can engage a broader range of 'others' (students, client, users) in ways of seeing and acting in a meaningful way. It challenges the role of the expert in architecture and urban design and in particular their use of the masterplan, which is often an oversimplified reductive response, laden with generalisations and the ill-considered overlay of inappropriate models. Design methods are designed to enable us to see afresh and respond accordingly. These are demonstrated in three suites of projects that include urban installations such as Five Walks for the Melbourne International Arts Festival, war memorials, lectures, photographs and teaching practice such as Taipei Operations, a student workshop, architectural exhibition, and book. The design research is situated within an expanded field of cross-disciplinary practice that includes art, landscape architecture, urban design, architecture and geography. Tools are developed to enable us to understand the city at many spatial and temporal scales; observations made at a micro scale reveal systems at a macro scale - a bottom-up approach. The application of the methods explored implies that

Performance Evaluation for a Solar Assisted Air Conditioning System in Taipei

Brandsma, Age January 2017 (has links)
This report shows the study performed at Taipei National University of Technology in Taipei to evaluate the performance of a solar air conditioning system. The performance is evaluated under Taiwan climate conditions. The research is performed under summer weather conditions. No influence is done on these conditions. A solar air conditioning system currently available on the market is used. No changes are made to the system. The work to be done is divided into different phases in order to guide the process. First, a literature research is done to find similar research done on this topic and to gain a basic understanding of the topic. Then several measurement plans are made to investigate different parts of the system.. Measurements are done. It is tried to developing a computer model in order to be able to simulate the system performance. The overall objective was to gain knowledge about a solar assisted air-conditioning system and develop a model to simulate the system. Initially a list of research questions was made in order to quantify ‘gaining knowledge’ about the system. The plan was to answer them by using measurement data and creating a model to perform simulations. There are measurements done in this report, however due to too many ‘unknowns’* it is difficult to draw conclusions from them. A lot of research questions are still open and they are also not included in this report. It is also not succeeded to make a working model of a solar assisted air conditioner. It is succeeded in making a model to predict the performance of the evaporator. This model is currently within 11% accurate.

競業禁止和營業秘密之實證研究 -以台北地院民事判決為例(2012年到2015年) / Non-competition and Trade Secret Empirical Research

莊苡婷, Chuang, Yi Ting Unknown Date (has links)
Business secrets are the production under the era of globalization. In addition, it start playing an important role on business development. After employees who have been touched the business secrets had left their jobs might lead to leaking out highly valuable commercial secrets making the company suffer great losses. Company will protect their trade secrets and prevent economic losses by asking employees to sign non-competition clauses. With the protection, companies are willing to invest more assets and money on research and development, making market more active. Eventually, these kinds of clauses and precautions can promote technological and commercial environment and development. Trade secret protection and non-competition clauses can maintain competitiveness of employers. But trade secret and non-competition are not the same due to the original source of law and elements. This thesis related to the non-competition clauses are focusing on the periods of the end of the employment relationship. But trade secrets divided into two situations including employment periods and after-service periods. In fact, non-competition and trade secrets have a certain extent of connections. In addition to the basic theoretical introduction, the thesis explored and extracted judgment from the Taipei District Court ruling during the past three years. With methods of Statistical Analysis. We can understand the relationship and interaction between trade secrets and non-competition. By combining the theories with empirical research, we can speculate the results and conclude the suggestions about the operation of the practice.
